iommu/amd: Clear DMA ops when switching domain

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/amd: Clear DMA ops when switching domain Since commit 08a27c1c3ecf ("iommu: Add support to change default domain of an iommu group") a user can switch a device between IOMMU and direct DMA through sysfs. This doesn't work for AMD IOMMU at the moment because dev->dma_ops is not cleared when switching from a DMA to an identity IOMMU domain. The DMA layer thus attempts to use the dma-iommu ops on an identity domain, causing an oops: # echo 0000:00:05.0 > /sys/sys/bus/pci/drivers/e1000e/unbind # echo identity > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:00:05.0/iommu_group/type # echo 0000:00:05.0 > /sys/sys/bus/pci/drivers/e1000e/bind ... BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000028 ... Call Trace: iommu_dma_alloc e1000e_setup_tx_resources e1000e_open Since iommu_change_dev_def_domain() calls probe_finalize() again, clear the dma_ops there like Vt-d does.

icmp: prevent possible NULL dereferences from icmp_build_probe()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: icmp: prevent possible NULL dereferences from icmp_build_probe() First problem is a double call to __in_dev_get_rcu(), because the second one could return NULL. if (__in_dev_get_rcu(dev) && __in_dev_get_rcu(dev)->ifa_list) Second problem is a read from dev->ip6_ptr with no NULL check: if (!list_empty(&rcu_dereference(dev->ip6_ptr)->addr_list)) Use the correct RCU API to fix these. v2: add missing include <net/addrconf.h>

of: module: prevent NULL pointer dereference in vsnprintf()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of: module: prevent NULL pointer dereference in vsnprintf() In of_modalias(), we can get passed the str and len parameters which would cause a kernel oops in vsnprintf() since it only allows passing a NULL ptr when the length is also 0. Also, we need to filter out the negative values of the len parameter as these will result in a really huge buffer since snprintf() takes size_t parameter while ours is ssize_t... Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with the Svace static analysis tool.

dma-buf: Fix NULL pointer dereference in sanitycheck()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dma-buf: Fix NULL pointer dereference in sanitycheck() If due to a memory allocation failure mock_chain() returns NULL, it is passed to dma_fence_enable_sw_signaling() resulting in NULL pointer dereference there. Call dma_fence_enable_sw_signaling() only if mock_chain() succeeds. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

md: Don't suspend the array for interrupted reshape

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md: Don't suspend the array for interrupted reshape md_start_sync() will suspend the array if there are spares that can be added or removed from conf, however, if reshape is still in progress, this won't happen at all or data will be corrupted(remove_and_add_spares won't be called from md_choose_sync_action for reshape), hence there is no need to suspend the array if reshape is not done yet. Meanwhile, there is a potential deadlock for raid456: 1) reshape is interrupted; 2) set one of the disk WantReplacement, and add a new disk to the array, however, recovery won't start until the reshape is finished; 3) then issue an IO across reshpae position, this IO will wait for reshape to make progress; 4) continue to reshape, then md_start_sync() found there is a spare disk that can be added to conf, mddev_suspend() is called; Step 4 and step 3 is waiting for each other, deadlock triggered. Noted this problem is found by code review, and it's not reporduced yet. Fix this porblem by don't suspend the array for interrupted reshape, this is safe because conf won't be changed until reshape is done.

spi: sun6i: reduce DMA RX transfer width to single byte

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: sun6i: reduce DMA RX transfer width to single byte Through empirical testing it has been determined that sometimes RX SPI transfers with DMA enabled return corrupted data. This is down to single or even multiple bytes lost during DMA transfer from SPI peripheral to memory. It seems the RX FIFO within the SPI peripheral can become confused when performing bus read accesses wider than a single byte to it during an active SPI transfer. This patch reduces the width of individual DMA read accesses to the RX FIFO to a single byte to mitigate that issue.

drm/amdgpu/fence: Fix oops due to non-matching drm_sched init/fini

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu/fence: Fix oops due to non-matching drm_sched init/fini Currently amdgpu calls drm_sched_fini() from the fence driver sw fini routine - such function is expected to be called only after the respective init function - drm_sched_init() - was executed successfully. Happens that we faced a driver probe failure in the Steam Deck recently, and the function drm_sched_fini() was called even without its counter-part had been previously called, causing the following oops: amdgpu: probe of 0000:04:00.0 failed with error -110 BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000090 PGD 0 P4D 0 Oops: 0002 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI CPU: 0 PID: 609 Comm: systemd-udevd Not tainted 6.2.0-rc3-gpiccoli #338 Hardware name: Valve Jupiter/Jupiter, BIOS F7A0113 11/04/2022 RIP: 0010:drm_sched_fini+0x84/0xa0 [gpu_sched] [...] Call Trace: <TASK> amdgpu_fence_driver_sw_fini+0xc8/0xd0 [amdgpu] amdgpu_device_fini_sw+0x2b/0x3b0 [amdgpu] amdgpu_driver_release_kms+0x16/0x30 [amdgpu] devm_drm_dev_init_release+0x49/0x70 [...] To prevent that, check if the drm_sched was properly initialized for a given ring before calling its fini counter-part. Notice ideally we'd use sched.ready for that; such field is set as the latest thing on drm_sched_init(). But amdgpu seems to "override" the meaning of such field - in the above oops for example, it was a GFX ring causing the crash, and the sched.ready field was set to true in the ring init routine, regardless of the state of the DRM scheduler. Hence, we ended-up using sched.ops as per Christian's suggestion [0], and also removed the no_scheduler check [1]. sysv: don't call sb_bread() with pointers_lock held

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sysv: don't call sb_bread() with pointers_lock held syzbot is reporting sleep in atomic context in SysV filesystem [1], for sb_bread() is called with rw_spinlock held. A "write_lock(&pointers_lock) => read_lock(&pointers_lock) deadlock" bug and a "sb_bread() with write_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug were introduced by "Replace BKL for chain locking with sysvfs-private rwlock" in Linux 2.5.12. Then, "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" in Linux 2.6.8 fixed the former bug by moving pointers_lock lock to the callers, but instead introduced a "sb_bread() with read_lock(&pointers_lock)" bug (which made this problem easier to hit). Al Viro suggested that why not to do like get_branch()/get_block()/ find_shared() in Minix filesystem does. And doing like that is almost a revert of "[PATCH] err1-40: sysvfs locking fix" except that get_branch() from with find_shared() is called without write_lock(&pointers_lock).

kunit: fix reference count leak in kfree_at_end

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: kunit: fix reference count leak in kfree_at_end The reference counting issue happens in the normal path of kfree_at_end(). When kunit_alloc_and_get_resource() is invoked, the function forgets to handle the returned resource object, whose refcount increased inside, causing a refcount leak. Fix this issue by calling kunit_alloc_resource() instead of kunit_alloc_and_get_resource(). comedi: dt9812: fix DMA buffers on stack

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: comedi: dt9812: fix DMA buffers on stack USB transfer buffers are typically mapped for DMA and must not be allocated on the stack or transfers will fail. Allocate proper transfer buffers in the various command helpers and return an error on short transfers instead of acting on random stack data. Note that this also fixes a stack info leak on systems where DMA is not used as 32 bytes are always sent to the device regardless of how short the command is.

The splat occurs because skb->data points past skb->head allocated area. This is because neigh layer does: __skb_pull(skb, skb_network_offset(skb)); ... but skb_network_offset() returns a negative offset and __skb_pull() arg is unsigned. IOW, we skb->data gets "adjusted" by a huge value. The negative value is returned because skb->head and skb->data distance is more than 64k and skb->network_header (u16) has wrapped around. The bug is in the ip_tunnel infrastructure, which can cause dev->needed_headroom to increment ad infinitum. The syzkaller reproducer consists of packets getting routed via a gre tunnel, and route of gre encapsulated packets pointing at another (ipip) tunnel. The ipip encapsulation finds gre0 as next output device. This results in the following pattern: 1). First packet is to be sent out via gre0. Route lookup found an output device, ipip0. 2). ip_tunnel_xmit for gre0 bumps gre0->needed_headroom based on the future output device, rt.dev->needed_headroom (ipip0). 3). ip output / start_xmit moves skb on to ipip0. which runs the same code path again (xmit recursion). 4). Routing step for the post-gre0-encap packet finds gre0 as output device to use for ipip0 encapsulated packet. tunl0->needed_headroom is then incremented based on the (already bumped) gre0 device headroom. This repeats for every future packet: gre0->needed_headroom gets inflated because previous packets' ipip0 step incremented rt->dev (gre0) headroom, and ipip0 incremented because gre0 needed_headroom was increased. For each subsequent packet, gre/ipip0->needed_headroom grows until post-expand-head reallocations result in a skb->head/data distance of more than 64k. Once that happens, skb->network_header (u16) wraps around when pskb_expand_head tries to make sure that skb_network_offset() is unchanged after the headroom expansion/reallocation. After this skb_network_offset(skb) returns a different (and negative) result post headroom expansion. The next trip to neigh layer (or anything else that would __skb_pull the network header) makes skb->data point to a memory location outside skb->head area. v2: Cap the needed_headroom update to an arbitarily chosen upperlimit to prevent perpetual increase instead of dropping the headroom increment completely.

nilfs2: fix potential hang in nilfs_detach_log_writer()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix potential hang in nilfs_detach_log_writer() Syzbot has reported a potential hang in nilfs_detach_log_writer() called during nilfs2 unmount. Analysis revealed that this is because nilfs_segctor_sync(), which synchronizes with the log writer thread, can be called after nilfs_segctor_destroy() terminates that thread, as shown in the call trace below: nilfs_detach_log_writer nilfs_segctor_destroy nilfs_segctor_kill_thread --> Shut down log writer thread flush_work nilfs_iput_work_func nilfs_dispose_list iput nilfs_evict_inode nilfs_transaction_commit nilfs_construct_segment (if inode needs sync) nilfs_segctor_sync --> Attempt to synchronize with log writer thread *** DEADLOCK *** Fix this issue by changing nilfs_segctor_sync() so that the log writer thread returns normally without synchronizing after it terminates, and by forcing tasks that are already waiting to complete once after the thread terminates. The skipped inode metadata flushout will then be processed together in the subsequent cleanup work in nilfs_segctor_destroy().

ALSA: timer: Set lower bound of start tick time

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: timer: Set lower bound of start tick time Currently ALSA timer doesn't have the lower limit of the start tick time, and it allows a very small size, e.g. 1 tick with 1ns resolution for hrtimer. Such a situation may lead to an unexpected RCU stall, where the callback repeatedly queuing the expire update, as reported by fuzzer. This patch introduces a sanity check of the timer start tick time, so that the system returns an error when a too small start size is set. As of this patch, the lower limit is hard-coded to 100us, which is small enough but can still work somehow.

mm: cachestat: fix two shmem bugs

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm: cachestat: fix two shmem bugs When cachestat on shmem races with swapping and invalidation, there are two possible bugs: 1) A swapin error can have resulted in a poisoned swap entry in the shmem inode's xarray. Calling get_shadow_from_swap_cache() on it will result in an out-of-bounds access to swapper_spaces[]. Validate the entry with non_swap_entry() before going further. 2) When we find a valid swap entry in the shmem's inode, the shadow entry in the swapcache might not exist yet: swap IO is still in progress and we're before __remove_mapping; swapin, invalidation, or swapoff have removed the shadow from swapcache after we saw the shmem swap entry. This will send a NULL to workingset_test_recent(). The latter purely operates on pointer bits, so it won't crash - node 0, memcg ID 0, eviction timestamp 0, etc. are all valid inputs - but it's a bogus test. In theory that could result in a false "recently evicted" count. Such a false positive wouldn't be the end of the world. But for code clarity and (future) robustness, be explicit about this case. Bail on get_shadow_from_swap_cache() returning NULL.

A NULL pointer dereference was found in io_file_bitmap_get in io_uring/filetable.c in the io_uring sub-component in the Linux Kernel. When fixed files are unregistered, some context information (file_alloc_{start,end} and alloc_hint) is not cleared. A subsequent request that has auto index selection enabled via IORING_FILE_INDEX_ALLOC can cause a NULL pointer dereference. An unprivileged user can use the flaw to cause a system crash.

serial: core: Clearing the circular buffer before NULLifying it

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: serial: core: Clearing the circular buffer before NULLifying it The circular buffer is NULLified in uart_tty_port_shutdown() under the spin lock. However, the PM or other timer based callbacks may still trigger after this event without knowning that buffer pointer is not valid. Since the serial code is a bit inconsistent in checking the buffer state (some rely on the head-tail positions, some on the buffer pointer), it's better to have both aligned, i.e. buffer pointer to be NULL and head-tail possitions to be the same, meaning it's empty. This will prevent asynchronous calls to dereference NULL pointer as reported recently in 8250 case: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000cf5 Workqueue: pm pm_runtime_work EIP: serial8250_tx_chars (drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1809) ... ? serial8250_tx_chars (drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1809) __start_tx (drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1551) serial8250_start_tx (drivers/tty/serial/8250/8250_port.c:1654) serial_port_runtime_suspend (include/linux/serial_core.h:667 drivers/tty/serial/serial_port.c:63) __rpm_callback (drivers/base/power/runtime.c:393) ? serial_port_remove (drivers/tty/serial/serial_port.c:50) rpm_suspend (drivers/base/power/runtime.c:447) The proposed change will prevent ->start_tx() to be called during suspend on shut down port.

Bluetooth: rfcomm: Fix null-ptr-deref in rfcomm_check_security

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: rfcomm: Fix null-ptr-deref in rfcomm_check_security During our fuzz testing of the connection and disconnection process at the RFCOMM layer, we discovered this bug. By comparing the packets from a normal connection and disconnection process with the testcase that triggered a KASAN report. We analyzed the cause of this bug as follows: 1. In the packets captured during a normal connection, the host sends a `Read Encryption Key Size` type of `HCI_CMD` packet (Command Opcode: 0x1408) to the controller to inquire the length of encryption key. After receiving this packet, the controller immediately replies with a Command Completepacket (Event Code: 0x0e) to return the Encryption Key Size. 2. In our fuzz test case, the timing of the controller's response to this packet was delayed to an unexpected point: after the RFCOMM and L2CAP layers had disconnected but before the HCI layer had disconnected. 3. After receiving the Encryption Key Size Response at the time described in point 2, the host still called the rfcomm_check_security function. However, by this time `struct l2cap_conn *conn = l2cap_pi(sk)->chan->conn;` had already been released, and when the function executed `return hci_conn_security(conn->hcon, d->sec_level, auth_type, d->out);`, specifically when accessing `conn->hcon`, a null-ptr-deref error occurred. To fix this bug, check if `sk->sk_state` is BT_CLOSED before calling rfcomm_recv_frame in rfcomm_process_rx.

The above added iommu_device structure to pci_controller. During system boot, PCI devices are discovered and this newly added iommu_device structure is initialized by a call to iommu_device_register(). During DLPAR add of a PCI device, a new pci_controller structure is allocated but there are no calls made to iommu_device_register() interface. Fix is to register the iommu device during DLPAR add as well.

net: phy: fix phy_get_internal_delay accessing an empty array

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: phy: fix phy_get_internal_delay accessing an empty array The phy_get_internal_delay function could try to access to an empty array in the case that the driver is calling phy_get_internal_delay without defining delay_values and rx-internal-delay-ps or tx-internal-delay-ps is defined to 0 in the device-tree. This will lead to "unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0". To avoid this kernel oops, the test should be delay >= 0. As there is already delay < 0 test just before, the test could only be size == 0.
