drbd: Fix five use after free bugs in get_initial_state

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drbd: Fix five use after free bugs in get_initial_state In get_initial_state, it calls notify_initial_state_done(skb,..) if cb->args[5]==1. If genlmsg_put() failed in notify_initial_state_done(), the skb will be freed by nlmsg_free(skb). Then get_initial_state will goto out and the freed skb will be used by return value skb->len, which is a uaf bug. What's worse, the same problem goes even further: skb can also be freed in the notify_*_state_change -> notify_*_state calls below. Thus 4 additional uaf bugs happened. My patch lets the problem callee functions: notify_initial_state_done and notify_*_state_change return an error code if errors happen. So that the error codes could be propagated and the uaf bugs can be avoid. v2 reports a compilation warning. We see kernel crashes and lockups and KASAN errors related to ax210 firmware crashes. One of the KASAN dumps pointed at the tx path, and it appears there is indeed a way to double-free an skb. If iwl_mvm_tx_skb_sta returns non-zero, then the 'skb' sent into the method will be freed. But, in case where we build TSO skb buffer, the skb may also be freed in error case. NFSD: Protect against send buffer overflow in NFSv2 READ

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Protect against send buffer overflow in NFSv2 READ Since before the git era, NFSD has conserved the number of pages held by each nfsd thread by combining the RPC receive and send buffers into a single array of pages. This works because there are no cases where an operation needs a large RPC Call message and a large RPC Reply at the same time. Once an RPC Call has been received, svc_process() updates svc_rqst::rq_res to describe the part of rq_pages that can be used for constructing the Reply. This means that the send buffer (rq_res) shrinks when the received RPC record containing the RPC Call is large. A client can force this shrinkage on TCP by sending a correctly- formed RPC Call header contained in an RPC record that is excessively large. The full maximum payload size cannot be constructed in that case.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/radeon: fix potential buffer overflow in ni_set_mc_special_registers() The last case label can write two buffers 'mc_reg_address[j]' and 'mc_data[j]' with 'j' offset equal to SMC_NISLANDS_MC_REGISTER_ARRAY_SIZE since there are no checks for this value in both case labels after the last 'j++'. Instead of changing '>' to '>=' there, add the bounds check at the start of the second 'case' (the first one already has it). Also, remove redundant last checks for 'j' index bigger than array size. The expression is always false. Moreover, before or after the patch 'table->last' can be equal to SMC_NISLANDS_MC_REGISTER_ARRAY_SIZE and it seems it can be a valid value. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix potential double free in create_var_ref() In create_var_ref(), init_var_ref() is called to initialize the fields of variable ref_field, which is allocated in the previous function call to create_hist_field(). Function init_var_ref() allocates the corresponding fields such as ref_field->system, but frees these fields when the function encounters an error. The caller later calls destroy_hist_field() to conduct error handling, which frees the fields and the variable itself. This results in double free of the fields which are already freed in the previous function. Fix this by storing NULL to the corresponding fields when they are freed in init_var_ref().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: Intel: hda: Fix potential buffer overflow by snprintf() snprintf() returns the would-be-filled size when the string overflows the given buffer size, hence using this value may result in the buffer overflow (although it's unrealistic). This patch replaces with a safer version, scnprintf() for papering over such a potential issue.

drm/amd/pm: fix double free in si_parse_power_table()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/pm: fix double free in si_parse_power_table() In function si_parse_power_table(), array adev->pm.dpm.ps and its member is allocated. If the allocation of each member fails, the array itself is freed and returned with an error code. However, the array is later freed again in si_dpm_fini() function which is called when the function returns an error. This leads to potential double free of the array adev->pm.dpm.ps, as well as leak of its array members, since the members are not freed in the allocation function and the array is not nulled when freed. In addition adev->pm.dpm.num_ps, which keeps track of the allocated array member, is not updated until the member allocation is successfully finished, this could also lead to either use after free, or uninitialized variable access in si_dpm_fini(). Fix this by postponing the free of the array until si_dpm_fini() and increment adev->pm.dpm.num_ps everytime the array member is allocated.

mac80211: fix potential double free on mesh join

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mac80211: fix potential double free on mesh join While commit 6a01afcf8468 ("mac80211: mesh: Free ie data when leaving mesh") fixed a memory leak on mesh leave / teardown it introduced a potential memory corruption caused by a double free when rejoining the mesh: ieee80211_leave_mesh() -> kfree(sdata->u.mesh.ie); ... ieee80211_join_mesh() -> copy_mesh_setup() -> old_ie = ifmsh->ie; -> kfree(old_ie); This double free / kernel panics can be reproduced by using wpa_supplicant with an encrypted mesh (if set up without encryption via "iw" then ifmsh->ie is always NULL, which avoids this issue). And then calling: $ iw dev mesh0 mesh leave $ iw dev mesh0 mesh join my-mesh Note that typically these commands are not used / working when using wpa_supplicant. And it seems that wpa_supplicant or wpa_cli are going through a NETDEV_DOWN/NETDEV_UP cycle between a mesh leave and mesh join where the NETDEV_UP resets the mesh.ie to NULL via a memcpy of default_mesh_setup in cfg80211_netdev_notifier_call, which then avoids the memory corruption, too. The issue was first observed in an application which was not using wpa_supplicant but "Senf" instead, which implements its own calls to nl80211. Fixing the issue by removing the kfree()'ing of the mesh IE in the mesh join function and leaving it solely up to the mesh leave to free the mesh IE.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: be2net: Fix buffer overflow in be_get_module_eeprom be_cmd_read_port_transceiver_data assumes that it is given a buffer that is at least PAGE_DATA_LEN long, or twice that if the module supports SFF 8472. However, this is not always the case. Fix this by passing the desired offset and length to be_cmd_read_port_transceiver_data so that we only copy the bytes once.

ath10k: skip ath10k_halt during suspend for driver state RESTARTING

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ath10k: skip ath10k_halt during suspend for driver state RESTARTING Double free crash is observed when FW recovery(caused by wmi timeout/crash) is followed by immediate suspend event. The FW recovery is triggered by ath10k_core_restart() which calls driver clean up via ath10k_halt(). When the suspend event occurs between the FW recovery, the restart worker thread is put into frozen state until suspend completes. The suspend event triggers ath10k_stop() which again triggers ath10k_halt() The double invocation of ath10k_halt() causes ath10k_htt_rx_free() to be called twice(Note: ath10k_htt_rx_alloc was not called by restart worker thread because of its frozen state), causing the crash. To fix this, during the suspend flow, skip call to ath10k_halt() in ath10k_stop() when the current driver state is ATH10K_STATE_RESTARTING. Also, for driver state ATH10K_STATE_RESTARTING, call ath10k_wait_for_suspend() in ath10k_stop(). This is because call to ath10k_wait_for_suspend() is skipped later in [ath10k_halt() > ath10k_core_stop()] for the driver state ATH10K_STATE_RESTARTING. s390: avoid using global register for current_stack_pointer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390: avoid using global register for current_stack_pointer Commit 30de14b1884b ("s390: current_stack_pointer shouldn't be a function") made current_stack_pointer a global register variable like on many other architectures. Unfortunately on s390 it uncovers old gcc bug which is fixed only since gcc-9.1 [gcc commit 3ad7fed1cc87 ("S/390: Fix PR89775. Stackpointer save/restore instructions removed")] and backported to gcc-8.4 and later. Due to this bug gcc versions prior to 8.4 generate broken code which leads to stack corruptions. Current minimal gcc version required to build the kernel is declared as 5.1. It is not possible to fix all old gcc versions, so work around this problem by avoiding using global register variable for current_stack_pointer.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Don't redirect packets with invalid pkt_len Syzbot found an issue [1]: fq_codel_drop() try to drop a flow whitout any skbs, that is, the flow->head is null. The root cause, as the [2] says, is because that bpf_prog_test_run_skb() run a bpf prog which redirects empty skbs. So we should determine whether the length of the packet modified by bpf prog or others like bpf_prog_test is valid before forwarding it directly.

i2c: piix4: Fix adapter not be removed in piix4_remove()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i2c: piix4: Fix adapter not be removed in piix4_remove() In piix4_probe(), the piix4 adapter will be registered in: piix4_probe() piix4_add_adapters_sb800() / piix4_add_adapter() i2c_add_adapter() Based on the probed device type, piix4_add_adapters_sb800() or single piix4_add_adapter() will be called. For the former case, piix4_adapter_count is set as the number of adapters, while for antoher case it is not set and kept default *zero*. When piix4 is removed, piix4_remove() removes the adapters added in piix4_probe(), basing on the piix4_adapter_count value. Because the count is zero for the single adapter case, the adapter won't be removed and makes the sources allocated for adapter leaked, such as the i2c client and device. These sources can still be accessed by i2c or bus and cause problems. mptcp: move subflow cleanup in mptcp_destroy_common()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: move subflow cleanup in mptcp_destroy_common() If the mptcp socket creation fails due to a CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE eBPF program, the MPTCP protocol ends-up leaking all the subflows: the related cleanup happens in __mptcp_destroy_sock() that is not invoked in such code path. Address the issue moving the subflow sockets cleanup in the mptcp_destroy_common() helper, which is invoked in every msk cleanup path. Additionally get rid of the intermediate list_splice_init step, which is an unneeded relic from the past. The issue is present since before the reported root cause commit, but any attempt to backport the fix before that hash will require a complete rewrite.

arm64: entry: avoid kprobe recursion

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: entry: avoid kprobe recursion The cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() function is called when handling debug exceptions (and synchronous exceptions from BRK instructions), and so is called when a probed function executes. If the compiler does not inline cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler(), it can be probed. If cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() is probed, any debug exception or software breakpoint exception will result in recursive exceptions leading to a stack overflow. This can be triggered with the ftrace multiple_probes selftest, and as per the example splat below. This is a regression caused by commit: 6459b8469753e9fe ("arm64: entry: consolidate Cortex-A76 erratum 1463225 workaround") ... which removed the NOKPROBE_SYMBOL() annotation associated with the function. My intent was that cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() would be inlined into its caller, el1_dbg(), which is marked noinstr and cannot be probed. Mark cortex_a76_erratum_1463225_debug_handler() as __always_inline to ensure this. ALSA: oss: Fix PCM OSS buffer allocation overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: oss: Fix PCM OSS buffer allocation overflow We've got syzbot reports hitting INT_MAX overflow at vmalloc() allocation that is called from snd_pcm_plug_alloc(). Although we apply the restrictions to input parameters, it's based only on the hw_params of the underlying PCM device. Since the PCM OSS layer allocates a temporary buffer for the data conversion, the size may become unexpectedly large when more channels or higher rates is given; in the reported case, it went over INT_MAX, hence it hits WARN_ON(). This patch is an attempt to avoid such an overflow and an allocation for too large buffers. First off, it adds the limit of 1MB as the upper bound for period bytes. This must be large enough for all use cases, and we really don't want to handle a larger temporary buffer than this size. The size check is performed at two places, where the original period bytes is calculated and where the plugin buffer size is calculated. In addition, the driver uses array_size() and array3_size() for multiplications to catch overflows for the converted period size and buffer bytes.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: sata_dwc_460ex: Fix crash due to OOB write the driver uses libata's "tag" values from in various arrays. Since the mentioned patch bumped the ATA_TAG_INTERNAL to 32, the value of the SATA_DWC_QCMD_MAX needs to account for that. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: selinux: fix double free of cond_list on error paths On error path from cond_read_list() and duplicate_policydb_cond_list() the cond_list_destroy() gets called a second time in caller functions, resulting in NULL pointer deref. Fix this by resetting the cond_list_len to 0 in cond_list_destroy(), making subsequent calls a noop. Also consistently reset the cond_list pointer to NULL after freeing. The problem is encoutered with tests added by commit 38608ee7b690 ("bpf, tests: Add load store test case for tail call") This happens because tail call is done to a BPF prog with a different stack_depth. At the time being, the stack is kept as is when the caller tail calls its callee. But at exit, the callee restores the stack based on its own properties. Therefore here, at each run, r1 is erroneously increased by 32 - 16 = 16 bytes. This was done that way in order to pass the tail call count from caller to callee through the stack. As powerpc32 doesn't have a red zone in the stack, it was necessary the maintain the stack as is for the tail call. But it was not anticipated that the BPF frame size could be different. Let's take a new approach. Use register r4 to carry the tail call count during the tail call, and save it into the stack at function entry if required. This means the input parameter must be in r3, which is more correct as it is a 32 bits parameter, then tail call better match with normal BPF function entry, the down side being that we move that input parameter back and forth between r3 and r4. That can be optimised later. Doing that also has the advantage of maximising the common parts between tail calls and a normal function exit.
