Connections to external data sources, like e-mail autoconfiguration, were not terminated in case they hit a timeout, instead those connections were logged. Some connections use user-controlled endpoints, which could be malicious and attempt to keep the connection open for an extended period of time. As a result users were able to trigger large amount of egress network connections, possibly exhausting network pool resources and lock up legitimate requests. A new mechanism has been introduced to cancel external connections that might access user-controlled endpoints. No publicly available exploits are known.
When adding an external mail account, processing of IMAP "capabilities" responses are not limited to plausible sizes. Attacker with access to a rogue IMAP service could trigger requests that lead to excessive resource usage and eventually service unavailability. We now limit accepted IMAP server response to reasonable length/size. No publicly available exploits are known.
When adding an external mail account, processing of SMTP "capabilities" responses are not limited to plausible sizes. Attacker with access to a rogue SMTP service could trigger requests that lead to excessive resource usage and eventually service unavailability. We now limit accepted SMTP server response to reasonable length/size. No publicly available exploits are known.
OX App Suite before backend 7.10.6-rev37 does not check HTTP header lengths when downloading, e.g., potentially allowing a crafted iCal feed to provide an unlimited amount of header data.
Processing time of drive search expressions now gets monitored, and the related request is terminated if a resource threshold is reached. Availability of OX App Suite could be reduced due to high processing load. Please deploy the provided updates and patch releases. Processing of user-defined drive search expressions is not limited No publicly available exploits are known.

OX Guard 2.10.4 and earlier allows a Denial of Service via a WKS server that responds slowly or with a large amount of data.
The legacy Slack import feature in Mattermost version 6.7.0 and earlier fails to properly limit the sizes of imported files, which allows an authenticated attacker to crash the server by importing large files via the Slack import REST API.
Mattermost versions 8.1.x before 8.1.12, 9.6.x before 9.6.1, 9.5.x before 9.5.3, 9.4.x before 9.4.5 fail to limit the number of active sessions, which allows an authenticated attacker to crash the server via repeated requests to the getSessions API after flooding the sessions table.
PingCAP TiDB v8.1.0 was discovered to contain a buffer overflow via the component (*Column).GetDecimal. This allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted input to the 'RemoveUnnecessaryFirstRow', it will check the expression between 'Agg' and 'GroupBy', but does not check the return type. NOTE: PingCAP disputes this, arguing that reproduction did not cause the security impact of service interruption to other users. They maintain it is a complex query bug in the product but not a DoS.
Mattermost fails to properly truncate the postgres error log message of a search query failure allowing an attacker to cause the creation of large log files which can result in Denial of Service
Nextcloud is an Open Source private cloud software. Versions 25.0.0 and above, prior to 25.0.3, are subject to Uncontrolled Resource Consumption. A user can configure a very long password, consuming more resources on password validation than desired. This issue is patched in 25.0.3 No workaround is available.
Rubygems.org is the Ruby community's gem hosting service. A Gem publisher can cause a Remote DoS when publishing a Gem. This is due to how Ruby reads the Manifest of Gem files when using Gem::Specification.from_yaml. from_yaml makes use of SafeYAML.load which allows YAML aliases inside the YAML-based metadata of a gem. YAML aliases allow for Denial of Service attacks with so-called `YAML-bombs` (comparable to Billion laughs attacks). This was patched. There is is no action required by users. This issue is also tracked as GHSL-2024-001 and was discovered by the GitHub security lab.
A flaw was found in Bombastic, which allows authenticated users to upload compressed (bzip2 or zstd) SBOMs. The API endpoint verifies the presence of some fields and values in the JSON. To perform this verification, the uploaded file must first be decompressed.
An invalid pointer in the modbus_receive() function of libmodbus v3.1.6 allows attackers to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) via a crafted message sent to the unit-test-server.
Discourse is an open-source discussion platform. Prior to version 3.0.1 on the `stable` branch and 3.1.0.beta2 on the `beta` and `tests-passed` branches, when submitting a membership request, there is no character limit for the reason provided with the request. This could potentially allow a user to flood the database with a large amount of data. However it is unlikely this could be used as part of a DoS attack, as the paths reading back the reasons are only available to administrators. Starting in version 3.0.1 on the `stable` branch and 3.1.0.beta2 on the `beta` and `tests-passed` branches, a limit of 280 characters has been introduced for membership requests.
An issue has been discovered in GitLab affecting all versions starting from 15.9 before 15.9.4, all versions starting from 15.10 before 15.10.1. A search timeout could be triggered if a specific HTML payload was used in the issue description.

An issue was discovered in OpenDDS commit b1c534032bb62ad4ae32609778de6b8d6c823a66, allows a local attacker to cause a denial of service and obtain sensitive information via the max_samples parameter within the DataReaderQoS component.
Mattermost Server versions 9.5.x before 9.5.2, 9.4.x before 9.4.4, 9.3.x before 9.3.3, 8.1.x before 8.1.11 don't limit the number of user preferences which allows an attacker to send a large number of user preferences potentially causing denial of service.
The image proxy component in Mattermost version 6.4.1 and earlier allocates memory for multiple copies of a proxied image, which allows an authenticated attacker to crash the server via links to very large image files.
On all versions of 17.0.x, 16.1.x, 15.1.x, 14.1.x, 13.1.x, 12.1.x, and 11.6.x on F5 BIG-IP, an authenticated iControl REST user with at least guest role privileges can cause processing delays to iControl REST requests via undisclosed requests. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated
Mattermost fails to properly validate the length of the emoji value in the custom user status, allowing an attacker to send multiple times a very long string as an emoji value causing high resource consumption and possibly crashing the server.
A flaw was found in the Hive hibernation controller component of OpenShift Dedicated. The ClusterDeployment.hive.openshift.io/v1 resource can be created with the spec.installed field set to true, regardless of the installation status, and a positive timespan for the spec.hibernateAfter value. If a ClusterSync.hiveinternal.openshift.io/v1alpha1 resource is also created, the hive hibernation controller will enter the reconciliation loop leading to a panic when accessing a non-existing field in the ClusterDeployment’s status section, resulting in a denial of service.
The Authenticator WordPress plugin before 1.3.1 does not prevent subscribers from updating a site's feed access token, which may deny other users access to the functionality in certain configurations.
Nextcloud Server is the file server software for Nextcloud, a self-hosted productivity platform. Nextcloud Server prior to versions 23.0.10 and 24.0.6 and Nextcloud Enterprise Server prior to versions 22.2.10, 23.0.10, and 24.0.6 are vulnerable to a logged-in attacker slowing down the system by generating a lot of database/cpu load. Nextcloud Server versions 23.0.10 and 24.0.6 and Nextcloud Enterprise Server versions 22.2.10, 23.0.10, and 24.0.6 contain patches for this issue. As a workaround, disable the Circles app.
In Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) versions below 7.1.2, an attacker can use investigation attachments to perform a denial of service (DoS) to the Investigation. The attachment endpoint does not properly limit the size of the request which lets an attacker cause the Investigation to become inaccessible.
A potential DOS vulnerability was discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions from 10.8 before 15.1.6, all versions starting from 15.2 before 15.2.4, all versions starting from 15.3 before 15.3.2. Improper data handling on branch creation could have been used to trigger high CPU usage.
discourse-calendar is a discourse plugin which adds the ability to create a dynamic calendar in the first post of a topic. The limit on region value length is too generous. This allows a malicious actor to cause a Discourse instance to use excessive bandwidth and disk space. This issue has been patched in main the main branch. There are no workarounds for this vulnerability. Please upgrade as soon as possible.
Mattermost versions 8.1.x before 8.1.10, 9.2.x before 9.2.6, 9.3.x before 9.3.2, and 9.4.x before 9.4.3 fail to limit the number of @-mentions processed per message, allowing an authenticated attacker to crash the client applications of other users via large, crafted messages.
Discourse is a platform for community discussion. For fields that are client editable, limits on sizes are not imposed. This allows a malicious actor to cause a Discourse instance to use excessive disk space and also often excessive bandwidth. The issue is patched 3.1.4 and 3.2.0.beta4.
An issue has been discovered in GitLab affecting all versions starting from 9.0 before 15.7.8, all versions starting from 15.8 before 15.8.4, all versions starting from 15.9 before 15.9.2. It was possible to trigger a resource depletion attack due to improper filtering for number of requests to read commits details.
Mattermost versions 8.1.x before 8.1.9, 9.2.x before 9.2.5, 9.3.0, and 9.4.x before 9.4.2 fail to limit the number of role names requested from the API, allowing an authenticated attacker to cause the server to run out of memory and crash by issuing an unusually large HTTP request.
The Mojolicious module before 9.11 for Perl has a bug in format detection that can potentially be exploited for denial of service.
Mattermost fails to check if a custom emoji reaction exists when sending it to a post and to limit the amount of custom emojis allowed to be added in a post, allowing an attacker sending a huge amount of non-existent custom emojis in a post to crash the mobile app of a user seeing the post and to crash the server due to overloading when clients attempt to retrive the aforementioned post.
Zulip is an open source team chat server. In affected versions Zulip allows organization administrators on a server to configure "linkifiers" that automatically create links from messages that users send, detected via arbitrary regular expressions. Malicious organization administrators could subject the server to a denial-of-service via regular expression complexity attacks; most simply, by configuring a quadratic-time regular expression in a linkifier, and sending messages that exploited it. A regular expression attempted to parse the user-provided regexes to verify that they were safe from ReDoS -- this was both insufficient, as well as _itself_ subject to ReDoS if the organization administrator entered a sufficiently complex invalid regex. Affected users should [upgrade to the just-released Zulip 4.7](https://zulip.readthedocs.io/en/latest/production/upgrade-or-modify.html#upgrading-to-a-release), or [`main`](https://zulip.readthedocs.io/en/latest/production/upgrade-or-modify.html#upgrading-from-a-git-repository).
A vulnerability was found in SourceCodester Engineers Online Portal 1.0. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is an unknown function of the component File Upload Handler. The manipulation leads to resource consumption. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The identifier of this vulnerability is VDB-250116.
Mattermost Mobile fails to limit the maximum number of Markdown elements in a post allowing an attacker to send a post with hundreds of emojis to a channel and freeze the mobile app of users when viewing that particular channel.
Mattermost fails to enforce a limit for the size of the cache entry for OpenGraph data allowing an attacker to send a specially crafted request to the /api/v4/opengraph filling the cache and turning the server unavailable.
Mattermost fails to deduplicate input IDs allowing a simple user to cause the application to consume excessive resources and possibly crash by sending a specially crafted request to /api/v4/users/ids with multiple identical IDs.
Rocket.Chat is an open-source fully customizable communications platform developed in JavaScript. In Rocket.Chat before versions 3.11.3, 3.12.2, and 3.13 an issue with certain regular expressions could lead potentially to Denial of Service. This was fixed in versions 3.11.3, 3.12.2, and 3.13.
Nextcloud Server is a Nextcloud package that handles data storage. In versions of Nextcloud Server prior to 10.0.11, 20.0.10, and 21.0.2, a malicious user may be able to break the user administration page. This would disallow administrators to administrate users on the Nextcloud instance. The vulnerability is fixed in versions 19.0.11, 20.0.10, and 21.0.2. As a workaround, administrators can use the OCC command line tool to administrate the Nextcloud users.
Mattermost fails to handle a null request body in the /add endpoint, allowing a simple member to send a request with null request body to that endpoint and make it crash. After a few repetitions, the plugin is disabled.
Mattermost fails to limit the amount of data extracted from compressed archives during board import in Mattermost Boards allowing an attacker to consume excessive resources, possibly leading to Denial of Service, by importing a board using a specially crafted zip (zip bomb).
Mattermost fails to limit the log size of server logs allowing an attacker sending specially crafted requests to different endpoints to potentially overflow the log.
Mattermost 6.2 and earlier fails to sufficiently process a specifically crafted GIF file when it is uploaded while drafting a post, which allows authenticated users to cause resource exhaustion while processing the file, resulting in server-side Denial of Service.
A potential DOS vulnerability was discovered in GitLab CE/EE starting with version 12.6. The container registry name check could cause exponential number of backtracks for certain user supplied values resulting in high CPU usage. Affected versions are: >=12.6, <13.3.9.
