SAP NetWeaver and ABAP platform allows an attacker to impede performance for legitimate users by crashing or flooding the service. An impact of this Denial of Service vulnerability might be long response delays and service interruptions, thus degrading the service quality experienced by legitimate users causing high impact on availability of the application.
Knowledge Management versions 7.01, 7.02, 7.30, 7.31, 7.40, 7.50 allows a remote attacker with basic privileges to deserialize user-controlled data without verification, leading to insecure deserialization which triggers the attacker’s code, therefore impacting Availability.
ABAP Server (used in NetWeaver and Suite/ERP) and ABAP Platform does not sufficiently validate an XML document accepted from an untrusted source, leading to an XML External Entity (XEE) vulnerability. Fixed in Kernel 7.21 or 7.22, that is ABAP Server 7.00 to 7.31 and Kernel 7.45, 7.49 or 7.53, that is ABAP Server 7.40 to 7.52 or ABAP Platform. For more recent updates please refer to Security Note 2870067 (which supersedes the solution of Security Note 2736825) in the reference section below.
In SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform - version 420, 430, an attacker can control a malicious BOE server, forcing the application server to connect to its own CMS, leading to a high impact on availability.
In SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform (Web Services) - versions 420, 430, an attacker can control a malicious BOE server, forcing the application server to connect to its own admintools, leading to a high impact on availability.
SAP S/4 HANA Map Treasury Correspondence Format Data does not perform necessary authorization check for an authenticated user, resulting in escalation of privileges. This could allow an attacker to delete the data with a high impact to availability.
SAP SQL Anywhere - version 17.0, allows an authenticated attacker to prevent legitimate users from accessing a SQL Anywhere database server by crashing the server with some queries that use an ARRAY constructor.
The SAP EP-RUNTIME component in SAP NetWeaver AS JAVA 7.5 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (out-of-memory error and service instability) via a crafted serialized Java object, as demonstrated by serial.cc3, aka SAP Security Note 2315788.
Process Integration Monitoring of SAP NetWeaver AS JAVA, versions - 7.31, 7.40, 7.50, allows an attacker to upload any file (including script files) without proper file format validation, leading to Unrestricted File Upload.
SAP SQL Anywhere - version 17.0, allows an authenticated attacker to prevent legitimate users from accessing a SQL Anywhere database server by crashing the server with some queries that use indirect identifiers.
Due to improper error handling an authenticated user can crash CLA assistant instance. This could impact the availability of the application.
Some part of SAP NetWeaver (EP Web Page Composer) does not sufficiently validate an XML document accepted from an untrusted source, which allows an adversary to exploit unprotected XML parking at endpoints, and a possibility to conduct SSRF attacks that could compromise systems Availability by causing system to crash.
SAP Banking Services version 500, use an incorrect authorization object in some of its reports. Although the affected reports are protected with otherauthorization objects, exploitation of the vulnerability could lead to privilege escalation and violation in segregation of duties, which in turn could lead to Service interruptions and system unavailability for the victim and users of the component.
An RFC enabled function module SPI_WAIT_MILLIS in SAP NetWeaver AS ABAP, versions - 731, 740, 750, allows to keep a work process busy for any length of time. An attacker could call this function module multiple times to block all work processes thereby causing Denial of Service and affecting the Availability of the SAP system.
Due to unrestricted access to the Meta Model Repository services in SAP NetWeaver AS Java, attackers can perform DoS attacks on the application, which may prevent legitimate users from accessing it. This can result in no impact on confidentiality and integrity but a high impact on the availability of the application.
SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP (Kernel) and ABAP Platform (Kernel) - versions KERNEL 7.22, 8.04, 7.49, 7.53, 7.77, 7.81, 7.85, 7.86, 7.87, KRNL64UC 8.04, 7.22, 7.22EXT, 7.49, 7.53, KRNL64NUC 7.22, 7.22EXT, 7.49, does not sufficiently validate sap-passport information, which could lead to a Denial-of-Service attack. This allows an unauthorized remote user to provoke a breakdown of the SAP Web Dispatcher or Kernel work process. The crashed process can be restarted immediately, other processes are not affected.
disp+work 7400.12.21.30308 in SAP NetWeaver 7.40 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (resource consumption) via a crafted DIAG request, aka SAP Security Note 2405918.
Discourse is an open source platform for community discussion. In affected versions the endpoint for generating inline oneboxes for URLs wasn't enforcing limits on the number of URLs that it accepted, allowing a malicious user to inflict denial of service on some parts of the app. This vulnerability is only exploitable by authenticated users. This issue has been patched in the latest stable, beta and tests-passed versions of Discourse. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade should turn off the `enable inline onebox on all domains` site setting and remove all entries from the `allowed inline onebox domains` site setting.
Multiple Denial of Service (DoS) conditions has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions starting from 1.0 prior to 17.0.6, starting from 17.1 prior to 17.1.4, and starting from 17.2 prior to 17.2.2 which allowed an attacker to cause resource exhaustion via banzai pipeline.
A flaw was discovered in Elasticsearch, where a large recursion using the innerForbidCircularReferences function of the PatternBank class could cause the Elasticsearch node to crash. A successful attack requires a malicious user to have read_pipeline Elasticsearch cluster privilege assigned to them.
An issue found in Directus API v.2.2.0 allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via a great amount of HTTP requests.
Uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability in Cybozu Remote Service 4.1.0 to 4.1.1 allows a remote authenticated attacker to consume huge storage space or cause significantly delayed communication.
WordPress before 2.0.5 does not properly store a profile containing a string representation of a serialized object, which allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a string that represents a (1) malformed or (2) large serialized object, because the object triggers automatic unserialization for display.
Multiple Denial of Service (DoS) conditions has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions starting from 1.0 prior to 16.11.5, starting from 17.0 prior to 17.0.3, and starting from 17.1 prior to 17.1.1 which allowed an attacker to cause resource exhaustion via banzai pipeline.
In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.3.1, 9.2.3, and 9.1.6 and Splunk Cloud Platform versions below 9.2.2403.107, 9.1.2312.204, and 9.1.2312.111, a low-privileged user that does not hold the "admin" or "power" Splunk roles could craft a search query with an improperly formatted "INGEST_EVAL" parameter as part of a [Field Transformation](https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/latest/Knowledge/Managefieldtransforms) which could crash the Splunk daemon (splunkd).
Uncontrolled resource consumption in some Zoom Apps before version 6.2.0 may allow an authenticated user to conduct a denial of service via network access.
A flaw was found in the machine-config-operator that causes an OpenShift node to become unresponsive when a container consumes a large amount of memory. An attacker could use this flaw to deny access to schedule new pods in the OpenShift cluster. This was fixed in openshift/machine-config-operator 4.4.3, openshift/machine-config-operator 4.3.25, openshift/machine-config-operator 4.2.36.
Zulip is an open source team chat server. In affected versions Zulip allows organization administrators on a server to configure "linkifiers" that automatically create links from messages that users send, detected via arbitrary regular expressions. Malicious organization administrators could subject the server to a denial-of-service via regular expression complexity attacks; most simply, by configuring a quadratic-time regular expression in a linkifier, and sending messages that exploited it. A regular expression attempted to parse the user-provided regexes to verify that they were safe from ReDoS -- this was both insufficient, as well as _itself_ subject to ReDoS if the organization administrator entered a sufficiently complex invalid regex. Affected users should [upgrade to the just-released Zulip 4.7](https://zulip.readthedocs.io/en/latest/production/upgrade-or-modify.html#upgrading-to-a-release), or [`main`](https://zulip.readthedocs.io/en/latest/production/upgrade-or-modify.html#upgrading-from-a-git-repository).
Snudown is a reddit-specific fork of the Sundown Markdown parser used by GitHub, with Python integration added. In affected versions snudown was found to be vulnerable to denial of service attacks to its reference table implementation. References written in markdown ` [reference_name]: https://www.example.com` are inserted into a hash table which was found to have a weak hash function, meaning that an attacker can reliably generate a large number of collisions for it. This makes the hash table vulnerable to a hash-collision DoS attack, a type of algorithmic complexity attack. Further the hash table allowed for duplicate entries resulting in long retrieval times. Proofs of concept and further discussion of the hash collision issue are discussed on the snudown GHSA(https://github.com/reddit/snudown/security/advisories/GHSA-6gvv-9q92-w5f6). Users are advised to update to version 1.7.0.
A vulnerability in the Internet Key Exchange Version 2 (IKEv2) implementation of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to trigger a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device. This vulnerability is due to improper control of a resource. An attacker with the ability to spoof a trusted IKEv2 site-to-site VPN peer and in possession of valid IKEv2 credentials for that peer could exploit this vulnerability by sending malformed, authenticated IKEv2 messages to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to trigger a reload of the device.
A denial of service vulnerability in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions starting from 12.0 before 14.3.6, all versions starting from 14.4 before 14.4.4, all versions starting from 14.5 before 14.5.2, allows low-privileged users to bypass file size limits in the NPM package repository to potentially cause denial of service.
The webinstaller is a Golang web server executable that enables the generation of an Auvesy image agent. Resource consumption can be achieved by generating large amounts of installations, which are then saved without limitation in the temp folder of the webinstaller executable.
IBM WebSphere MQ 7.1 and 7.5: Queue manager has a DoS vulnerability
An issue in Silverpeas v.6.4.2 and lower allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service via the password change function.
Rustix is a set of safe Rust bindings to POSIX-ish APIs. When using `rustix::fs::Dir` using the `linux_raw` backend, it's possible for the iterator to "get stuck" when an IO error is encountered. Combined with a memory over-allocation issue in `rustix::fs::Dir::read_more`, this can cause quick and unbounded memory explosion (gigabytes in a few seconds if used on a hot path) and eventually lead to an OOM crash of the application. The symptoms were initially discovered in https://github.com/imsnif/bandwhich/issues/284. That post has lots of details of our investigation. Full details can be read on the GHSA-c827-hfw6-qwvm repo advisory. If a program tries to access a directory with its file descriptor after the file has been unlinked (or any other action that leaves the `Dir` iterator in the stuck state), and the implementation does not break after seeing an error, it can cause a memory explosion. As an example, Linux's various virtual file systems (e.g. `/proc`, `/sys`) can contain directories that spontaneously pop in and out of existence. Attempting to iterate over them using `rustix::fs::Dir` directly or indirectly (e.g. with the `procfs` crate) can trigger this fault condition if the implementation decides to continue on errors. An attacker knowledgeable about the implementation details of a vulnerable target can therefore try to trigger this fault condition via any one or a combination of several available APIs. If successful, the application host will quickly run out of memory, after which the application will likely be terminated by an OOM killer, leading to denial of service. This issue has been addressed in release versions 0.35.15, 0.36.16, 0.37.25, and 0.38.19. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
Dell PowerScale OneFS Versions 9.5.0.x through 9.8.0.x contain an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability. A low privilege remote attacker could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to denial of service.
A Denial of Service (DoS) condition has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions starting with 12.6 before 17.0.6, 17.1 prior to 17.1.4, and 17.2 prior to 17.2.2. It is possible for an attacker to cause a denial of service using crafted adoc files.
Directus is a real-time API and App dashboard for managing SQL database content. A denial of service (DoS) attack by field duplication in GraphQL is a type of attack where an attacker exploits the flexibility of GraphQL to overwhelm a server by requesting the same field multiple times in a single query. This can cause the server to perform redundant computations and consume excessive resources, leading to a denial of service for legitimate users. Request to the endpoint /graphql are sent when visualizing graphs generated at a dashboard. By modifying the data sent and duplicating many times the fields a DoS attack is possible. This vulnerability is fixed in 10.12.0.
Grails is a framework used to build web applications with the Groovy programming language. A specially crafted web request can lead to a JVM crash or denial of service. Any Grails framework application using Grails data binding is vulnerable. This issue has been patched in version 3.3.17, 4.1.3, 5.3.4, 6.1.0.
OpenProject is open-source, web-based project management software. In versions prior to 11.3.3, the `MessagesController` class of OpenProject has a `quote` method that implements the logic behind the Quote button in the discussion forums, and it uses a regex to strip `<pre>` tags from the message being quoted. The `(.|\s)` part can match a space character in two ways, so an unterminated `<pre>` tag containing `n` spaces causes Ruby's regex engine to backtrack to try 2n states in the NFA. This will result in a Regular Expression Denial of Service. The issue is fixed in OpenProject 11.3.3. As a workaround, one may install the patch manually.
Rocket.Chat is an open-source fully customizable communications platform developed in JavaScript. In Rocket.Chat before versions 3.11.3, 3.12.2, and 3.13 an issue with certain regular expressions could lead potentially to Denial of Service. This was fixed in versions 3.11.3, 3.12.2, and 3.13.
An issue was discovered in Kibana where a user with Viewer role could cause a Kibana instance to crash by sending a large number of maliciously crafted requests to a specific endpoint.
GlobalNewFiles is a mediawiki extension. Versions prior to 48be7adb70568e20e961ea1cb70904454a671b1d are affected by an uncontrolled resource consumption vulnerability. A large amount of page moves within a short space of time could overwhelm Database servers due to improper handling of load balancing and a lack of an appropriate index. As a workaround, one may avoid use of the extension unless additional rate limit at the MediaWiki level or via PoolCounter / MySQL is enabled. A patch is available in version 48be7adb70568e20e961ea1cb70904454a671b1d.
Uncontrolled resource consumption can be triggered by authenticated attacker that uploads a malicious ZIP to import database, dashboards or datasets. This vulnerability exists in Apache Superset versions up to and including 2.1.2 and versions 3.0.0, 3.0.1.
Envoy is a cloud-native, open source edge and service proxy. Envoy exposed an out-of-memory (OOM) vector from the mirror response, since async HTTP client will buffer the response with an unbounded buffer.
IBM WebSphere Application Server Admin Console 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0 is vulnerable to a potential denial of service, caused by improper parameter parsing. A remote attacker could exploit this to consume all available CPU resources. IBM X-Force ID: 157380.
matrix-media-repo is an open-source multi-domain media repository for Matrix. Versions 1.2.6 and earlier of matrix-media-repo do not properly handle malicious images which are crafted to be small in file size, but large in complexity. A malicious user could upload a relatively small image in terms of file size, using particular image formats, which expands to have extremely large dimensions during the process of thumbnailing. The server can be exhausted of memory in the process of trying to load the whole image into memory for thumbnailing, leading to denial of service. Version 1.2.7 has a fix for the vulnerability.
