An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in Windows store installer where WindowsApps directory is vulnerable to symbolic link attack, aka 'Microsoft Windows Store Installer Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability'.
UploaderService in SnagIT 2019.1.2 allows elevation of privilege by placing an invalid presentation file in %PROGRAMDATA%\TechSmith\TechSmith Recorder\QueuedPresentations and then creating a symbolic link in %PROGRAMDATA%\Techsmith\TechSmith Recorder\InvalidPresentations that points to an arbitrary folder with an arbitrary file name. TechSmith Relay Classic Recorder prior to 5.2.1 on Windows is vulnerable. The vulnerability was introduced in SnagIT Windows 12.4.1.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows AppX Deployment Server improperly handles junctions. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would first have to gain execution on the victim system, aka 'Windows Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability'. This CVE ID is unique from CVE-2019-1215, CVE-2019-1278, CVE-2019-1303.
The SplFileInfo::getType function in the Standard PHP Library (SPL) extension in PHP before 5.3.4 on Windows does not properly detect symbolic links, which might make it easier for local users to conduct symlink attacks by leveraging cross-platform differences in the stat structure, related to lack of a FILE_ATTRIBUTE_REPARSE_POINT check.
An issue was discovered in Avira Free Security Suite 10. The permissive access rights on the SoftwareUpdater folder (files / folders and configuration) are incompatible with the privileged file manipulation performed by the product. Files can be created that can be used by an unprivileged user to obtain SYSTEM privileges. Arbitrary file creation can be achieved by abusing the SwuConfig.json file creation: an unprivileged user can replace these files by pseudo-symbolic links to arbitrary files. When an update occurs, a privileged service creates a file and sets its access rights, offering write access to the Everyone group in any directory.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when Windows AppX Deployment Service (AppXSVC) improperly handles hard links, aka 'Windows Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability'. This CVE ID is unique from CVE-2019-1129.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in Microsoft Windows when Windows fails to properly handle certain symbolic links, aka 'Windows Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability'. This CVE ID is unique from CVE-2019-0734.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows User Profile Service (ProfSvc) improperly handles symlinks. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could delete files and folders in an elevated context. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would first have to log on to the system. An attacker could then run a specially crafted application that could exploit the vulnerability and delete files or folders of their choosing. The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how the Windows User Profile Service handles symlinks.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows Data Sharing Service improperly handles file operations, aka "Windows Data Sharing Service Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability." This affects Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10 Servers. This CVE ID is unique from CVE-2019-0571, CVE-2019-0573, CVE-2019-0574.
An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows Data Sharing Service improperly handles file operations, aka "Windows Data Sharing Service Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability." This affects Windows Server 2016, Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, Windows 10 Servers. This CVE ID is unique from CVE-2019-0571, CVE-2019-0572, CVE-2019-0573.
.NET Framework Denial of Service Vulnerability
Apple Safari 3.2.1 (aka AppVer 3.525.27.1) on Windows allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop or access violation) via a link to an http URI in which the authority (aka hostname) portion is either a (1) . (dot) or (2) .. (dot dot) sequence.
WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection Link Following Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of WithSecure Elements Endpoint Protection. User interaction on the part of an administrator is required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the WithSecure plugin hosting service. By creating a symbolic link, an attacker can abuse the service to create a file. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of SYSTEM. Was ZDI-CAN-23035.
Azure Network Watcher VM Agent Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Microsoft Office Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
Microsoft OfficePlus Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Azure Connected Machine Agent Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Dell Client Platform Firmware Update Utility contains an Improper Link Resolution vulnerability. A high privileged attacker with local access could potentially exploit this vulnerability, leading to Elevation of Privileges.
A sym-linked file accessed via the repair function in Avast Antivirus <24.2 on Windows may allow user to elevate privilege to delete arbitrary files or run processes as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. The vulnerability exists within the "Repair" (settings -> troubleshooting -> repair) feature, which attempts to delete a file in the current user's AppData directory as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. A low-privileged user can make a pseudo-symlink and a junction folder and point to a file on the system. This can provide a low-privileged user an Elevation of Privilege to win a race-condition which will re-create the system files and make Windows callback to a specially-crafted file which could be used to launch a privileged shell instance. This issue affects Avast Antivirus prior to 24.2.
Microsoft PC Manager Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Microsoft Office Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Windows Storage Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Windows Common Log File System Driver Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Windows Event Tracing Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Local privilege vulnerability in Yandex Browser for Windows prior to 22.5.0.862 allows a local, low privileged, attacker to execute arbitary code with the SYSTEM privileges through manipulating symlinks to installation file during Yandex Browser update process.
An arbitrary file deletion vulnerability exists in PaperCut NG/MF, specifically affecting Windows servers with Web Print enabled. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must first obtain local login access to the Windows Server hosting PaperCut NG/MF and be capable of executing low-privilege code directly on the server. Important: In most installations, this risk is mitigated by the default Windows Server configuration, which typically restricts local login access to Administrators only. However, this vulnerability could pose a risk to customers who allow non-administrative users to log in to the local console of the Windows environment hosting the PaperCut NG/MF application server. Note: This CVE has been split into two separate CVEs (CVE-2024-3037 and CVE-2024-8404) and it’s been rescored with a "Privileges Required (PR)" rating of low, and “Attack Complexity (AC)” rating of low, reflecting the worst-case scenario where an Administrator has granted local login access to standard users on the host server.
A local attacker can create a hard-link between a file to which the Check Point Endpoint Security client for Windows before E80.96 writes and another BAT file, then by impersonating the WPAD server, the attacker can write BAT commands into that file that will later be run by the user or the system.
