Remote Authentication-Bypass can lead to server crash or limited information disclosure due to faulty pattern matching

Audiobookshelf is a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server. Starting in version 2.17.0 and prior to version 2.19.1, a flaw in the authentication bypass logic allows unauthenticated requests to match certain unanchored regex patterns in the URL. Attackers can craft URLs containing substrings like "/api/items/1/cover" in a query parameter (?r=/api/items/1/cover) to partially bypass authentication or trigger server crashes under certain routes. This could lead to information disclosure of otherwise protected data and, in some cases, a complete denial of service (server crash) if downstream code expects an authenticated user object. Version 2.19.1 contains a patch for the issue.

Open Source Social Network (OSSN) Vulnerable to Resource Exhaustion via Malicious Image Processing

Open Source Social Network (OSSN) is open-source social networking software developed in PHP. Versions prior to 9.0 are vulnerable to resource exhaustion. An attacker can upload a specially crafted image with extreme pixel dimensions (e.g., $10000 \times 10000$ pixels). While the compressed file size on disk may be small, the server attempts to allocate significant memory and CPU cycles during the decompression and resizing process, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. It is highly recommended to upgrade to OSSN 9.0. This version introduces stricter validation of image dimensions and improved resource management during the processing phase. Those who cannot upgrade immediately can mitigate the risk by adjusting their `php.ini` settings to strictly limit `memory_limit` and `max_execution_time` and/or implementing a client-side and server-side check on image headers to reject files exceeding reasonable pixel dimensions (e.g., $4000 \times 4000$ pixels) before processing begins.

Podman Desktop WebView Server Exposed

Podman Desktop is a graphical tool for developing on containers and Kubernetes. Prior to 1.26.2, an unauthenticated HTTP server exposed by Podman Desktop allows any network attacker to remotely trigger denial-of-service conditions and extract sensitive information. By abusing missing connection limits and timeouts, an attacker can exhaust file descriptors and kernel memory, leading to application crash or full host freeze. Additionally, verbose error responses disclose internal paths and system details (including usernames on Windows), aiding further exploitation. The issue requires no authentication or user interaction and is exploitable over the network. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.26.2.

Python-Markdown version 3.8 contain a vulnerability where malformed HTML-like sequences can cause html.parser.HTMLParser to raise an unhandled AssertionError during Markdown parsing. Because Python-Markdown does not catch this exception, any application that processes attacker-controlled Markdown may crash. This enables remote, unauthenticated Denial of Service in web applications, documentation systems, CI/CD pipelines, and any service that renders untrusted Markdown. The issue was acknowledged by the vendor and fixed in version 3.8.1. This issue causes a remote Denial of Service in any application parsing untrusted Markdown, and can lead to Information Disclosure through uncaught exceptions.
