Libsoup: out-of-bounds read in libsoup websocket frame processing

A flaw was found in libsoup’s WebSocket frame processing when handling incoming messages. If a non-default configuration is used where the maximum incoming payload size is unset, the library may read memory outside the intended bounds. This can cause unintended memory exposure or a crash. Applications using libsoup’s WebSocket support with this configuration may be impacted.

Workarounds

To mitigate this issue, applications utilizing libsoup's WebSocket support should ensure that the `max_incoming_payload_size` is explicitly set to a non-zero value. This prevents the library from processing WebSocket frames with an unset or zero maximum payload size, which can lead to out-of-bounds reads. Consult application-specific documentation for configuring libsoup parameters.

Libsoup: incomplete fix for cve-2026-2443: range suffix overflow in libsoup soupserver

The fix for CVE-2026-2443 was regressed by a subsequent rework commit that replaced specific overflow checks with a general signed comparison. When a client sends a Range request with a suffix length exceeding the content size, the resulting negative start value is not properly clamped, leading to malformed HTTP 206 responses and log flooding.

Localsearch: tracker-miners: gnome localsearch mp3 extractor: heap buffer overflow leading to denial of service or information disclosure via malformed mp3 id3 tags

A flaw was found in the GNOME localsearch (previously known as tracker-miners) MP3 Extractor `tracker-extract-mp3` component. A remote attacker could exploit this heap buffer overflow vulnerability by providing a specially crafted MP3 file containing malformed ID3 tags. This incorrect length calculation during the parsing of performer tags can lead to a read beyond the allocated buffer, potentially causing a Denial of Service (DoS) due to a crash or enabling information disclosure.

Localsearch: tracker-miners: gnome localsearch mp3 extractor: denial of service and information disclosure via malformed mp3 files.

A flaw was found in GNOME localsearch (previously known as tracker-miners) MP3 Extractor, specifically within the tracker-extract-mp3 component. This heap buffer overflow vulnerability occurs when processing specially crafted MP3 files containing malformed ID3v2.3 COMM (Comment) tags. An attacker could exploit this by providing a malicious MP3 file, leading to a denial of service (DoS), which causes an application crash, and potentially disclosing sensitive information from the heap memory.

Sssd: out-of-bounds read in the sssd

A flaw was found in the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD). The pam_passkey_child_read_data() function within the PAM passkey responder fails to properly handle raw bytes received from a pipe. Because the data is treated as a NUL-terminated C string without explicit termination, it results in an out-of-bounds read when processed by functions like snprintf(). A local attacker could potentially trigger this vulnerability by initiating a crafted passkey authentication request, causing the SSSD PAM responder to crash, resulting in a local Denial of Service (DoS).

Xorg: xwayland: x.org x server: information disclosure or denial of service via out-of-bounds read in xkb modifier map handling

A flaw was found in the X.Org X server. This vulnerability, an out-of-bounds read, affects the XKB (X Keyboard Extension) modifier map handling. An attacker with access to the X11 server can exploit this by sending a malformed request, which causes the server to read beyond its intended memory boundaries. This can lead to the exposure of sensitive information or cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

It was found that the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 kpatch update did not include the complete fix for CVE-2018-12207. A flaw was found in the way Intel CPUs handle inconsistency between, virtual to physical memory address translations in CPU's local cache and system software's Paging structure entries. A privileged guest user may use this flaw to induce a hardware Machine Check Error on the host processor, resulting in a severe DoS scenario by halting the processor. System software like OS OR Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM) use virtual memory system for storing program instructions and data in memory. Virtual Memory system uses Paging structures like Page Tables and Page Directories to manage system memory. The processor's Memory Management Unit (MMU) uses Paging structure entries to translate program's virtual memory addresses to physical memory addresses. The processor stores these address translations into its local cache buffer called - Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB). TLB has two parts, one for instructions and other for data addresses. System software can modify its Paging structure entries to change address mappings OR certain attributes like page size etc. Upon such Paging structure alterations in memory, system software must invalidate the corresponding address translations in the processor's TLB cache. But before this TLB invalidation takes place, a privileged guest user may trigger an instruction fetch operation, which could use an already cached, but now invalid, virtual to physical address translation from Instruction TLB (ITLB). Thus accessing an invalid physical memory address and resulting in halting the processor due to the Machine Check Error (MCE) on Page Size Change.
