This is due to the plugin trusting a user-supplied Base64-encoded user ID in the token parameter to identify users, leaking valid authentication tokens through the 'barcodeScannerConfigs' action, and lacking meta-key restrictions on the 'setUserMeta' action. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to escalate their privileges to that of an administrator by first spoofing the admin user ID to leak their authentication token, then using that token to update any user's 'wp_capabilities' meta to gain full administrative access.
File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. Prior to version 2.62.2, the signupHandler in File Browser applies default user permissions via d.settings.Defaults.Apply(user), then strips only Admin. The Execute permission and Commands list from the default user template are not stripped. When an administrator has enabled signup, server-side execution, and set Execute=true in the default user template, any unauthenticated user who self-registers inherits shell execution capabilities and can run arbitrary commands on the server. This issue has been patched in version 2.62.2.

The signup handler blindly applies all default settings (including Perm.Admin) to the new user without any server-side guard that strips admin from self-registered accounts. The signupHandler is supposed to create unprivileged accounts for new visitors. It contains no explicit user.Perm.Admin = false reset after applying defaults. If an administrator (intentionally or accidentally) configures defaults.perm.admin = true and also enables signup, every account created via the public registration endpoint is an administrator with full control over all files, users, and server settings. This issue has been resolved in version 2.62.0.

An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists in ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus before build 6003 because it does not properly enforce user privileges associated with a Certificate dialog. This vulnerability could allow an unauthenticated attacker to escalate privileges on a Windows host. An attacker does not require any privilege on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. One option is the self-service option on the Windows login screen. Upon selecting this option, the thick-client software is launched, which connects to a remote ADSelfService Plus server to facilitate self-service operations. An unauthenticated attacker having physical access to the host could trigger a security alert by supplying a self-signed SSL certificate to the client. The View Certificate option from the security alert allows an attacker to export a displayed certificate to a file. This can further cascade to a dialog that can open Explorer as SYSTEM. By navigating from Explorer to \windows\system32, cmd.exe can be launched as a SYSTEM.
