pyLoad: Arbitrary File Write via Path Traversal in edit_package()

pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. From version 0.5.0b3.dev13 to 0.5.0b3.dev96, the edit_package() function implements insufficient sanitization for the pack_folder parameter. The current protection relies on a single-pass string replacement of "../", which can be bypassed using crafted recursive traversal sequences. This issue has been patched in version 0.5.0b3.dev97.

pyLoad has an Incomplete Tar Path Traversal Fix in UnTar._safe_extractall via os.path.commonprefix Bypass

pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. Prior to 0.5.0b3.dev97, the _safe_extractall() function in src/pyload/plugins/extractors/UnTar.py uses os.path.commonprefix() for its path traversal check, which performs character-level string comparison rather than path-level comparison. This allows a specially crafted tar archive to write files outside the intended extraction directory. The correct function os.path.commonpath() was added to the codebase in the CVE-2026-32808 fix (commit 5f4f0fa) but was never applied to _safe_extractall(), making this an incomplete fix. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.5.0b3.dev97.

pyLoad: Arbitrary File Deletion via Path Traversal during Encrypted 7z Password Verification

pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. Versions before 0.5.0b3.dev97 are vulnerable to path traversal during password verification of certain encrypted 7z archives (encrypted files with non-encrypted headers), causing arbitrary file deletion outside of the extraction directory. During password verification, pyLoad derives an archive entry name from 7z listing output and treats it as a filesystem path without constraining it to the extraction directory. This issue has been fixed in version 0.5.0b3.dev97.

pyLoad CNL Blueprint is vulnerable to Path Traversal through `dlc_path` leading to Remote Code Execution (RCE)

pyLoad is the free and open-source Download Manager written in pure Python. In versions 0.5.0b3.dev89 and below, there is an opportunity for path traversal in pyLoad-ng CNL Blueprint via package parameter, allowing Arbitrary File Write which leads to Remote Code Execution (RCE). The addcrypted endpoint in pyload-ng suffers from an unsafe path construction vulnerability, allowing unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files outside the designated storage directory. This can be abused to overwrite critical system files, including cron jobs and systemd services, leading to privilege escalation and remote code execution as root. This issue is fixed in version 0.5.0b3.dev90.

pyLoad has Path Traversal Vulnerability in json/upload Endpoint that allows Arbitrary File Write

pyLoad is a free and open-source Download Manager written in pure Python. In version 0.5.0b3.dev89, an authenticated path traversal vulnerability exists in the /json/upload endpoint of pyLoad. By manipulating the filename of an uploaded file, an attacker can traverse out of the intended upload directory, allowing them to write arbitrary files to any location on the system accessible to the pyLoad process. This may lead to: Remote Code Execution (RCE), local privilege escalation, system-wide compromise, persistence, and backdoors. This is fixed in version 0.5.0b3.dev90.

WP-Optimize <= 4.5.2 - Authenticated (Author+) Arbitrary File Deletion via 'original-file' Post Meta

The WP-Optimize – Cache, Compress images, Minify & Clean database to boost page speed & performance plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the unscheduled_original_file_deletion function in all versions up to, and including, 4.5.2 This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with author-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). This is possible because 'original-file' is a public (non-protected) meta key — it does not begin with an underscore — allowing Authors to freely create or modify it on their own attachment posts via the standard Edit Media form or the REST API.

Betheme <= 28.4 - Authenticated (Contributor+) Arbitrary File Deletion via 'mfn-icon-upload'

The Betheme theme for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Deletion in versions up to, and including, 28.4. This is due to the upload_icons() function workflow using a user-controlled upload path (`mfn-icon-upload`) in a filesystem move operation without constraining it to the uploads directory. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to move/delete arbitrary local files via path traversal.

Multiple Path Traversal Variants in awslabs/tough

Incomplete path traversal fixes in awslabs/tough before tough-v0.22.0 allow remote authenticated users with delegated signing authority to write files outside intended output directories via absolute target names in copy_target/link_target, symlinked parent directories in save_target, or symlinked metadata filenames in SignedRole::write, because write paths trust the joined destination path without post-resolution containment verification. wpForo Forum <= 3.0.5 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary File Deletion via Custom Profile Field File Path

The wpForo Forum plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Arbitrary File Deletion in versions up to and including 3.0.5. This is due to two compounding flaws: the Members::update() method does not validate or restrict the value of file-type custom profile fields, allowing authenticated users to store an arbitrary path instead of a legitimate upload path; and the wpforo_fix_upload_dir() sanitization function in ucf_file_delete() only remaps paths that match the expected pattern, and it is passed directly to the unlink() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php). Note: The vulnerability requires a file custom field, which requires the wpForo - User Custom Fields addon plugin.

Path traversal

go-ipfs is an open-source golang implementation of IPFS which is a global, versioned, peer-to-peer filesystem. In go-ipfs before version 0.8.0-rc1, it is possible for path traversal to occur with DAGs containing relative paths during retrieval. This can cause files to be overwritten, or written to incorrect output directories. The issue can only occur when a get is done on an affected DAG. This is fixed in version 0.8.0-rc1.

Perfmatters <= 2.5.9 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Arbitrary File Overwrite via 'snippets' Parameter

The Perfmatters plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file overwrite via path traversal in all versions up to, and including, 2.5.9. This is due to the `PMCS::action_handler()` method processing the bulk action `activate`/`deactivate` handlers without any authorization check or nonce verification. The `$_GET['snippets'][]` values are passed unsanitized to `Snippet::activate()`/`Snippet::deactivate()` which call `Snippet::update()` then `file_put_contents()` with the traversed path. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to overwrite arbitrary files on the server with a fixed PHP docblock content, potentially causing denial of service by corrupting critical files like `.htaccess` or `index.php`.

Improperly Implemented path matching for in-toto-golang

in-toto-golang is a go implementation of the in-toto framework to protect software supply chain integrity. In affected versions authenticated attackers posing as functionaries (i.e., within a trusted set of users for a layout) are able to create attestations that may bypass DISALLOW rules in the same layout. An attacker with access to trusted private keys, may issue an attestation that contains a disallowed artifact by including path traversal semantics (e.g., foo vs dir/../foo). AVideo Affected by Arbitrary File Deletion via Path Traversal in CloneSite deleteDump Parameter

WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. Prior to version 26.0, the `deleteDump` parameter in `plugin/CloneSite/cloneServer.json.php` is passed directly to `unlink()` without any path sanitization. An attacker with valid clone credentials can use path traversal sequences (e.g., `../../`) to delete arbitrary files on the server, including critical application files such as `configuration.php`, causing complete denial of service or enabling further attacks by removing security-critical files. Version 26.0 fixes the issue.

Halloy has a file transfer path traveral vulnerability

Halloy is an IRC application written in Rust. Prior to commit 0f77b2cfc5f822517a256ea5a4b94bad8bfe38b6, the DCC receive flow did not sanitize filenames from incoming `DCC SEND` requests. A remote IRC user could send a filename with path traversal sequences like `../../.ssh/authorized_keys` and the file would be written outside the user's configured `save_directory`. With auto-accept enabled this required zero interaction from the victim. Starting with commit 0f77b2cfc5f822517a256ea5a4b94bad8bfe38b6, all identified code paths sanitize filenames through a shared `sanitize_filename` function.

Stirling-PDF Zip Slip: Arbitrary File Write via Path Traversal in Markdown-to-PDF ZIP Extraction

Stirling-PDF is a locally hosted web application that performs various operations on PDF files. In versions prior to 2.5.2, the /api/v1/convert/markdown/pdf endpoint extracts user-supplied ZIP entries without path checks. Any authenticated user can write files outside the intended temporary working directory, leading to arbitrary file write with the privileges of the Stirling-PDF process user (stirlingpdfuser). This can overwrite writable files and compromise data integrity, with further impact depending on writable paths. The issue was fixed in version 2.5.2.

Dagu: Path traversal in DAG creation allows arbitrary YAML file write outside DAGs directory

Dagu is a workflow engine with a built-in Web user interface. In versions up to and including 1.16.7, the `CreateNewDAG` API endpoint (`POST /api/v1/dags`) does not validate the DAG name before passing it to the file store. An authenticated user with DAG write permissions can write arbitrary YAML files anywhere on the filesystem (limited by the process permissions). Since dagu executes DAG files as shell commands, writing a malicious DAG to the DAGs directory of another instance or overwriting config files can lead to remote code execution. Commit e2ed589105d79273e4e6ac8eb31525f765bb3ce4 fixes the issue.
