Improper Authorization (CWE-285) in Kibana can lead to privilege escalation (CAPEC-233) by allowing an authenticated user to bypass intended permission restrictions via a crafted HTTP request. This allows an attacker who lacks the live queries - read permission to successfully retrieve the list of live queries.
Missing Authorization (CWE-862) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized information disclosure via Privilege Abuse (CAPEC-122). A user with limited feature privileges can access workflow execution outputs in their Kibana space without the authorization required to do so through the documented API. The accessible data may include sensitive information returned by workflow steps, such as results from connected data sources that the caller would not otherwise be authorized to access.
Unintended Proxy or Intermediary ('Confused Deputy') (CWE-441) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized information exposure via Accessing Functionality Not Properly Constrained by ACLs (CAPEC-1). Under certain conditions, a lower-privileged user can cause data from sources they are not authorized to access to be processed using another user's privileges.
Incorrect Authorization (CWE-863) in Kibana can lead to cross-space information disclosure via Privilege Abuse (CAPEC-122). A user with Fleet agent management privileges in one Kibana space can retrieve Fleet Server policy details from other spaces through an internal enrollment endpoint. The endpoint bypasses space-scoped access controls by using an unscoped internal client, returning operational identifiers, policy names, management state, and infrastructure linkage details from spaces the user is not authorized to access.
Missing Authorization (CWE-862) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized cross-space information disclosure via user-supplied input that circumvents space-level access control.
The Elastic APM .NET Agent can leak sensitive HTTP header information when logging the details during an application error. Normally, the APM agent will sanitize sensitive HTTP header details before sending the information to the APM server. During an application error it is possible the headers will not be sanitized before being sent.
A document disclosure flaw was found in Elasticsearch versions after 7.6.0 and before 7.11.0 when Document or Field Level Security is used. Get requests do not properly apply security permissions when executing a query against a recently updated document. This affects documents that have been updated and not yet refreshed in the index. This could result in the search disclosing the existence of documents and fields the attacker should not be able to view.
It was discovered that Kibana was not validating a user supplied path, which would load .pbf files. Because of this, a malicious user could arbitrarily traverse the Kibana host to load internal files ending in the .pbf extension.
A flaw was discovered in Elasticsearch 7.17.0’s upgrade assistant, in which upgrading from version 6.x to 7.x would disable the in-built protections on the security index, allowing authenticated users with “*” index permissions access to this index.
It was discovered that on Windows operating systems specifically, Kibana was not validating a user supplied path, which would load .pbf files. Because of this, a malicious user could arbitrarily traverse the Kibana host to load internal files ending in the .pbf extension. Thanks to Dominic Couture for finding this vulnerability.
Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key (CWE-639) in Kibana can lead to unauthorized information disclosure and case attachment integrity compromise via Privilege Abuse (CAPEC-122). An inconsistency in Kibana's file access authorization logic allows a low-privileged authenticated user to retrieve, modify, and delete case attachments that belong to feature areas they are not authorized to access. Because the access control check and the resource retrieval use different resolution mechanisms, an authenticated attacker with limited file management permissions can obtain the contents of, modify, or delete protected case attachments — such as those associated with Security Solution cases — without holding the privileges required to access those features.
Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key vulnerability in Crocoblock JetPopup jet-popup allows Exploiting Incorrectly Configured Access Control Security Levels. This issue affects JetPopup: from n/a through <= 2.0.20.1.
Nextcloud Tables allows you to create your own tables with individual columns. Prior to 0.8.7 and 0.9.4, authenticated users were able to view meta data of columns in other tables of the Tables app by modifying the numeric ID in a request. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.8.7 and 0.9.4.
Grav is a file-based Web platform. Prior to 1.8.0-beta.27, there is an IDOR (Insecure Direct Object Reference) vulnerability in the Grav CMS Admin Panel which allows low-privilege users to access sensitive information from other accounts. Although direct account takeover is not possible, admin email addresses and other metadata can be exposed, increasing the risk of phishing, credential stuffing, and social engineering. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.0-beta.27.
RomM (ROM Manager) allows users to scan, enrich, browse and play their game collections with a clean and responsive interface. Prior to 4.4.1 and 4.4.1-beta.2, users can read private collections / smart collections belonging to other users by directly accessing their IDs via API. No ownership verification or checking if the collection is public/private before returning collection data. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.4.1 and 4.4.1-beta.2.
An Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) in classroomio 0.1.13 allows students to access sensitive admin/teacher endpoints by manipulating course IDs in URLs, resulting in unauthorized disclosure of sensitive course, admin, and student data. The leak occurs momentarily before the system reverts to a normal state restricting access.
Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) in the Track order function in PHPGURUKUL Online Shopping Portal 2.1 allows information disclosure via the oid parameter.
The Klamra Paycal for Aspaclaria plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.4 via the 'invoice_id' parameter due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to download arbitrary customer invoices by enumerating sequential post IDs, exposing sensitive billing PII including full name, email address, phone number, order total, line items, and customer notes belonging to other customers.
Nextcloud Server 30.0.0 is vulnerable to an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) in the /core/preview endpoint. Any authenticated user can access previews of arbitrary files belonging to other users by manipulating the fileId parameter. This allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data, such as text files or images, without prior sharing permissions.
Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability with account addresses in Liferay Portal 7.4.3.4 through 7.4.3.111, and Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.0 through 2023.Q4.5, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.8, and 7.4 GA through update 92 allows remote authenticated users to from one account to view addresses from a different account via the _com_liferay_account_admin_web_internal_portlet_AccountEntriesAdminPortlet_addressId parameter.
Discourse is an open-source community discussion platform. In versions 3.5.0 and below, the Discourse AI suggestion endpoints for topic “Title”, “Category”, and “Tags” allowed authenticated users to extract information about topics that they weren’t authorized to access. By modifying the “topic_id” value in API requests to the AI suggestion endpoints, users could target specific restricted topics. The AI model’s responses then disclosed information that the authenticated user couldn’t normally access. This issue is fixed in version 3.5.1. To workaround this issue, users can restrict group access to the AI helper feature through the "composer_ai_helper_allowed_groups" and "post_ai_helper_allowed_groups" site settings.
PHPGurukul Employee Leave Management System 2.1 contains an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability in leave-details.php. An authenticated user can change the leaveid parameter in the URL to access leave application details of other users.
A vulnerability was detected in zhuimengshaonian wisdom-education up to 1.0.4. The affected element is an unknown function of the file src/main/java/com/education/api/controller/student/WrongBookController.java. Performing manipulation of the argument subjectId results in authorization bypass. The attack can be initiated remotely. The exploit is now public and may be used.
Nextcloud Deck before 1.0.2 suffers from an insecure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerability that permits users with a duplicate user identifier to access deck data of a previous deleted user.
The Timetable and Event Schedule by MotoPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.16 via the action_get_event_data due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to enumerate timeslot IDs and read the full WP_Post object — including post_content, post_excerpt, post_status, and post_author — of draft, pending, and private mp-event posts belonging to other users, along with their associated raw timeslot descriptions.
Missing access control in Nextcloud Deck 1.0.4 caused an insecure direct object reference allowing an attacker to view all attachments.
Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key vulnerability in Matteo Manna Simple User Avatar allows Exploiting Incorrectly Configured Access Control Security Levels. This issue affects Simple User Avatar: from n/a through 4.9.
An issue has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions from 17.9 before 17.10.7, 17.11 before 17.11.3, and 18.0 before 18.0.1. It was possible for authenticated users to access arbitrary compliance frameworks, leading to unauthorized data disclosure.
Two authorization bypass through user-controlled key vulnerabilities in the Fortinet FortiPresence 2.1.0 administration interface may allow an attacker to gain access to some user data via portal manager or portal users parameters.
Open WebUI is a self-hosted artificial intelligence platform designed to operate entirely offline. Prior to 0.9.6, Open WebUI has a Broken Object Level Authorization (BOLA) vulnerability in the builtin search_knowledge_files tool. When native function calling is enabled and the selected model has no attached knowledge bases, an authenticated user can call search_knowledge_files with an arbitrary knowledge_id. The function then returns file metadata from that knowledge base without checking whether the user has read access. This allows unauthorized enumeration of private or restricted knowledge base files. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.9.6.
Craft CMS versions >= 5.0.0-RC1, <= 5.9.13 and >= 4.0.0-RC1, <= 4.17.7 contain an authorization bypass in the assets/preview-file endpoint. The action does not enforce per-asset view authorization before returning preview content, allowing an authenticated low-privileged user to supply a controlled assetId for an asset they are not permitted to view and still receive preview response data (previewHtml), including a private preview image route containing the target private assetId. Fixed in 5.9.14 and 4.17.8.
SimpleChat is a secure AI conversation application with personal and group workspaces for document-grounded interactions. Prior to 0.241.203, the authenticated GET /api/user/info/<user_id> and GET /api/user/profile-image/<user_id> endpoints in application/single_app/route_backend_users.py accepted a caller-supplied user_id and read the matching Cosmos DB user-settings document without object-level authorization, allowing a low-privilege authenticated user to retrieve another user's email address, display name, and profile image. This issue is fixed in version 0.241.203.
NewsBlur before 14.5.0 contains a broken access control vulnerability that allows authenticated users to read private notification feeds by supplying arbitrary user_id values to the GET /social/interactions endpoint without ownership verification. Attackers can enumerate user_id values to access another user's follows, replies, and social activity without authorization.
The Binary MLM Plan plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to insecure direct object reference in versions up to, and including, 5.0. This is due to the bmp_user_payout_detail_of_current_user() function selecting payout records solely by id without verifying ownership. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with the bmp_user role (often subscribers) to view other members' payout summaries via direct requests to the /bmp-account-detail/ endpoint with a crafted payout-id parameter granted they can access the shortcode output.
GitLab has remediated an issue in GitLab EE affecting all versions from 13.2 before 18.4.6, 18.5 before 18.5.4, and 18.6 before 18.6.2 that could have allowed an authenticated user to disclose sensitive information from private projects by executing specifically crafted GraphQL queries.
The ActivityPub WordPress plugin before 1.0.0 does not ensure that post titles to be displayed are public and belong to the plugin, allowing any authenticated user, such as subscriber to retrieve the title of arbitrary post (such as draft and private) via an IDOR vector
In GLPI before 9.5.3, ajax/comments.php has an Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability that allows an attacker to read data from any database table (e.g., glpi_tickets, glpi_users, etc.).
Tronclass developed by WisdomGarden has an Insecure Direct object Reference vulnerability, allowing remote attackers with regular privilege to modify a specific parameter to access other users' files.
Microsoft UFO open-source framework for intelligent automation across devices and platforms. From 3.0.0 until 3.0.6, a client connected to the UFO WebSocket server as a DEVICE could call DEVICE_INFO_REQUEST with another device's target_id and receive that device's server-side system_info through ufo/server/ws/handler.py, because handle_device_info_request and get_device_info did not enforce the constellation-only role or object-level authorization boundary. This issue is fixed in version 3.0.6.
Insecure direct object reference (IDOR) vulnerability in the Contacts Center widget in Liferay Portal 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.119, and older unsupported versions, and Liferay DXP 2023.Q4.0 through 2023.Q4.6, 2023.Q3.1 through 2023.Q3.10, 7.4 GA through update 92, and older unsupported versions allows remote attackers to view contact information, including the contact’s name and email address, via the _com_liferay_contacts_web_portlet_ContactsCenterPortlet_entryId parameter.
AnythingLLM is an application that turns pieces of content into context that any LLM can use as references during chatting. Prior to 1.13.0, an approved mobile device token created in single-user mode can survive single-user -> multi-user migration even when the device record has userId = null. In multi-user mode, that stale token is still accepted by the mobile authentication middleware. Because no user is attached to the request, downstream mobile handlers fall back to unscoped data-access branches and return workspaces and workspace content without per-user filtering. This permits a pre-migration mobile token to enumerate a workspace assigned only to another user and retrieve victim-owned thread metadata and chat content in multi-user mode. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.13.0.
Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability in Liferay Portal 7.4.0 through 7.4.3.124, and Liferay DXP 2024.Q2.0 through 2024.Q2.7, 2024.Q1.1 through 2024.Q1.12, and 7.4 GA through update 92 allows remote authenticated users to access a workflow definition by name via the API

Insecure Direct Object Reference (IDOR) vulnerability in BOLD Workplanner in versions prior to 2.5.25 (4935b438f9b), consisting of a lack of adequate validation of user input, allowing an authenticated user to access to basic contract details using unauthorised internal identifiers.
A flaw was found in Foreman. An authenticated user with host-edit permissions could exploit a cross-tenant information disclosure vulnerability. This flaw occurs because the taxonomy_scope controller method does not properly validate organization and location IDs from nested request parameters, bypassing existing authorization checks. This allows the user to leak sensitive infrastructure metadata, including subnet topology, IP ranges, gateways, DNS servers, and VLAN IDs, from organizations and locations they are not authorized to access.
