OpenWrt odhcpd/LuCI: unauthenticated DHCPv6 client can inject lease-file lines via FQDN hostname → stored XSS in the LuCI admin UI

OpenWrt is a Linux operating system targeting embedded devices. Prior to 25.12.5, odhcpd writes a DHCPv6 client FQDN option 39 hostname into /tmp/odhcpd.leases through src/statefiles.c statefiles_write_state6() and statefiles_write_state4() without escaping, allowing newline injection of forged lease lines that LuCI rpcd-mod-luci getDHCPLeases displays through htdocs/luci-static/resources/view/status/include/40_dhcp.js and htdocs/luci-static/resources/luci.js dom.append as live HTML in the Active DHCPv6 Leases admin page. The /v1/upload/sbom endpoint extracts the iss claim from the attacker-supplied JWT with signature verification disabled, then interpolates that string into three log statements before any validation gate. Because the configured log format ("%(asctime)s - %(name)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s") renders newlines literally, an unauthenticated attacker can forge log records that are byte-for-byte indistinguishable from PIA's genuine "Successfully authenticated project" message. PIA is an authentication broker whose logs are explicitly relied upon for incident response (DESIGN.md §5.4 lists "Token verifications" and "Errors" as events to log), so the ability to plant fake auth-success entries directly undermines the audit trail the service exists to produce.

Log Injection through HTTP Request Paths in Splunk SOAR

In Splunk SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response) versions below 8.5.0, an unauthenticated attacker could inject American National Standards Institute (ANSI) escape codes into SOAR application log files through specially crafted HTTP request paths, which a terminal emulator might interpret when an administrator views the logs.<br><br>The injection is possible because SOAR does not strip control characters from HTTP request paths before writing them to application logs.

Roxy-WI: EscapedString validator skips its '..' block when stripping (root cause for several path-traversal/RCE vectors)

Roxy-WI is a web interface for managing Haproxy, Nginx, Apache and Keepalived servers. In versions 8.2.6.4 and prior, EscapedString (app/modules/roxywi/class_models.py:16-30) is the centralised Pydantic validator used on dozens of fields including SSH credential name, username, description, etc. Its if/elif/elif/else flow returns the metacharacter-stripped value without also enforcing the .. block. An attacker who appends a single ;, &, |, $, or backtick to a .. payload routes the value through the strip arm, where .. survives unblocked and the result is not shlex.quote()'d either. At time of publication, there are no publicly available patches.

Debug Log Manager <= 2.5.0 - Unauthenticated Improper Output Neutralization for Logs via log_js_errors AJAX Action

The Debug Log Manager – Conveniently Monitor and Inspect Errors plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Improper Output Neutralization for Logs in all versions up to, and including, 2.5.0. This is due to the `log_js_errors()` AJAX handler being registered for unauthenticated users via `wp_ajax_nopriv_log_js_errors` and gated only by a nonce that is publicly disclosed in every front-end page's HTML through `wp_localize_script()` whenever JavaScript error logging is enabled, providing no real authorization barrier. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary forged entries into the site's WordPress debug log by supplying attacker-controlled values for the `message`, `script`, `lineNo`, `columnNo`, and `pageUrl` fields — enabling spoofing of error and incident records, obscuring malicious activity within fabricated log noise, and misleading administrators who rely on the log for triage. This vulnerability is only exploitable when the plugin's JavaScript error logging feature is enabled, as the requisite nonce is only published into the page HTML under that condition.

morgan vulnerable to Log Forging via unneutralized control characters in :remote-user

Impact: The morgan logging middleware's :remote-user token extracts the Basic auth username from the Authorization request header and writes it to the log stream without neutralizing control characters. An unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted Authorization Basic header containing CR or LF bytes to inject forged log lines, breaking the one-request-per-line structure of access logs and enabling log forgery against downstream log consumers. The built-in combined, common, default, and short formats are affected, as well as any custom format that references :remote-user. Affected versions: morgan 1.2.0 through 1.10.1. Patches: upgrade to morgan 1.11.0, which neutralizes control characters in the :remote-user token output. Workarounds: use a custom format string that does not include :remote-user.

OpenTelemetry eBPF Instrumentation: Redis error text is exported in span status messages

OpenTelemetry eBPF Instrumentation provides eBPF instrumentation based on the OpenTelemetry standard. Prior to version 0.9.0, OBI exports raw Redis error text as the span status message. Because Redis error replies can contain attacker-controlled or sensitive values, this behavior can exfiltrate tokens, PII, or other confidential input into telemetry backends and inject untrusted text into downstream analysis systems. Aap-mcp-server: aap mcp server: log injection allows social engineering attacks via unsanitized input

A flaw was found in the AAP MCP server. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit a log injection vulnerability by sending specially crafted input to the `toolsetroute` parameter. This parameter is not properly sanitized before being written to logs, allowing the attacker to inject control characters such as newlines and ANSI escape sequences. This enables the attacker to obscure legitimate log entries and insert forged ones, which could facilitate social engineering attacks, potentially leading to an operator executing dangerous commands or visiting malicious URLs.

Apache Log4j Core: Log injection in Rfc5424Layout due to silent configuration incompatibility

Apache Log4j Core's Rfc5424Layout https://logging.apache.org/log4j/2.x/manual/layouts.html#RFC5424Layout , in versions 2.21.0 through 2.25.3, is vulnerable to log injection via CRLF sequences due to undocumented renames of security-relevant configuration attributes. Two distinct issues affect users of stream-based syslog services who configure Rfc5424Layout directly: * The newLineEscape attribute was silently renamed, causing newline escaping to stop working for users of TCP framing (RFC 6587), exposing them to CRLF injection in log output. * The useTlsMessageFormat attribute was silently renamed, causing users of TLS framing (RFC 5425) to be silently downgraded to unframed TCP (RFC 6587), without newline escaping. Users of the SyslogAppender are not affected, as its configuration attributes were not modified. Users are advised to upgrade to Apache Log4j Core 2.25.4, which corrects this issue.

LiteLLM has an authentication bypass via OIDC userinfo cache key collision

LiteLLM is a proxy server (AI Gateway) to call LLM APIs in OpenAI (or native) format. Prior to 1.83.0, when JWT authentication is enabled (enable_jwt_auth: true), the OIDC userinfo cache uses token[:20] as the cache key. JWT headers produced by the same signing algorithm generate identical first 20 characters. This configuration option is not enabled by default. Most instances are not affected. An unauthenticated attacker can craft a token whose first 20 characters match a legitimate user's cached token. On cache hit, the attacker inherits the legitimate user's identity and permissions. This affects deployments with JWT/OIDC authentication enabled. Fixed in v1.83.0.

Inspektor Gadget: Tracing Denial of Service via Event Flooding

Inspektor Gadget is a set of tools and framework for data collection and system inspection on Kubernetes clusters and Linux hosts using eBPF. Prior to 0.50.1, in a situation where the ring-buffer of a gadget is – incidentally or maliciously – already full, the gadget will silently drop events. The include/gadget/buffer.h file contains definitions for the Buffer API that gadgets can use to, among the other things, transfer data from eBPF programs to userspace. For hosts running a modern enough Linux kernel (>= 5.8), this transfer mechanism is based on ring-buffers. The size of the ring-buffer for the gadgets is hard-coded to 256KB. When a gadget_reserve_buf fails because of insufficient space, the gadget silently cleans up without producing an alert. The lost count reported by the eBPF operator, when using ring-buffers – the modern choice – is hardcoded to zero. The vulnerability can be used by a malicious event source (e.g. a compromised container) to cause a Denial Of Service, forcing the system to drop events coming from other containers (or the same container). This vulnerability is fixed in 0.50.1.

Keycloak-server: sensitive headers shown in the http access logs

A flaw was found in Keycloak. When the logging format is configured to a verbose, user-supplied pattern (such as the pre-defined 'long' pattern), sensitive headers including Authorization and Cookie are disclosed to the logs in cleartext. An attacker with read access to the log files can extract these credentials (e.g., bearer tokens, session cookies) and use them to impersonate users, leading to a full account compromise.

Apache Log4cxx: Improper HTML escaping in HTMLLayout

Improper Output Neutralization for Logs vulnerability in Apache Log4cxx. When using HTMLLayout, logger names are not properly escaped when writing out to the HTML file. If untrusted data is used to retrieve the name of a logger, an attacker could theoretically inject HTML or Javascript in order to hide information from logs or steal data from the user. In order to activate this, the following sequence must occur: * Log4cxx is configured to use HTMLLayout. * Logger name comes from an untrusted string * Logger with compromised name logs a message * User opens the generated HTML log file in their browser, leading to potential XSS Because logger names are generally constant strings, we assess the impact to users as LOW This issue affects Apache Log4cxx: before 1.5.0. AIDE improper output neutralization vulnerability

AIDE is an advanced intrusion detection environment. Prior to version 0.19.2, there is an improper output neutralization vulnerability in AIDE. An attacker can craft a malicious filename by including terminal escape sequences to hide the addition or removal of the file from the report and/or tamper with the log output. A local user might exploit this to bypass the AIDE detection of malicious files. Additionally the output of extended attribute key names and symbolic links targets are also not properly neutralized. This issue has been patched in version 0.19.2. A workaround involves configuring AIDE to write the report output to a regular file, redirecting stdout to a regular file, or redirecting the log output written to stderr to a regular file.

The iOS logs can only be accessed if someone had (physical) access to the underlying unlocked device. The issue manifested itself by calling canOpenUrl() and passing an invalid URL object. When iOS then performs the check and fails, it logs the contents to the system log. This is not documented behaviour. Wire released an emergency fix with version 3.124.1. As a workaround, users can reset their iOS device to remove the offending logs. Since Wire cannot access or modify iOS system logs, there's no other workaround other than a reset.
