serial: 8250: omap: Don't skip resource freeing if pm_runtime_resume_and_get() failed

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: serial: 8250: omap: Don't skip resource freeing if pm_runtime_resume_and_get() failed Returning an error code from .remove() makes the driver core emit the little helpful error message: remove callback returned a non-zero value. This will be ignored. and then remove the device anyhow. So all resources that were not freed are leaked in this case. Skipping serial8250_unregister_port() has the potential to keep enough of the UART around to trigger a use-after-free. So replace the error return (and with it the little helpful error message) by a more useful error message and continue to cleanup.

net: nfc: Fix use-after-free in local_cleanup()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: nfc: Fix use-after-free in local_cleanup() Fix a use-after-free that occurs in kfree_skb() called from local_cleanup(). This could happen when killing nfc daemon (e.g. neard) after detaching an nfc device. When detaching an nfc device, local_cleanup() called from nfc_llcp_unregister_device() frees local->rx_pending and decreases local->ref by kref_put() in nfc_llcp_local_put(). In the terminating process, nfc daemon releases all sockets and it leads to decreasing local->ref. After the last release of local->ref, local_cleanup() called from local_release() frees local->rx_pending again, which leads to the bug. Setting local->rx_pending to NULL in local_cleanup() could prevent use-after-free when local_cleanup() is called twice. Found by a modified version of syzkaller. Use after free in io_uring in the Linux Kernel

There is a logic error in io_uring's implementation which can be used to trigger a use-after-free vulnerability leading to privilege escalation. In the io_prep_async_work function the assumption that the last io_grab_identity call cannot return false is not true, and in this case the function will use the init_cred or the previous linked requests identity to do operations instead of using the current identity. This can lead to reference counting issues causing use-after-free. We recommend upgrading past version 5.10.161.

net:emac/emac-mac: Fix a use after free in emac_mac_tx_buf_send

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net:emac/emac-mac: Fix a use after free in emac_mac_tx_buf_send In emac_mac_tx_buf_send, it calls emac_tx_fill_tpd(..,skb,..). If some error happens in emac_tx_fill_tpd(), the skb will be freed via dev_kfree_skb(skb) in error branch of emac_tx_fill_tpd(). But the freed skb is still used via skb->len by netdev_sent_queue(,skb->len). As i observed that emac_tx_fill_tpd() haven't modified the value of skb->len, thus my patch assigns skb->len to 'len' before the possible free and use 'len' instead of skb->len later.

HSI: ssi_protocol: Fix use after free vulnerability in ssi_protocol Driver Due to Race Condition

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HSI: ssi_protocol: Fix use after free vulnerability in ssi_protocol Driver Due to Race Condition In the ssi_protocol_probe() function, &ssi->work is bound with ssip_xmit_work(), In ssip_pn_setup(), the ssip_pn_xmit() function within the ssip_pn_ops structure is capable of starting the work. If we remove the module which will call ssi_protocol_remove() to make a cleanup, it will free ssi through kfree(ssi), while the work mentioned above will be used. The sequence of operations that may lead to a UAF bug is as follows: CPU0 CPU1 | ssip_xmit_work ssi_protocol_remove | kfree(ssi); | | struct hsi_client *cl = ssi->cl; | // use ssi Fix it by ensuring that the work is canceled before proceeding with the cleanup in ssi_protocol_remove().

powerpc/pseries: Fix use after free in remove_phb_dynamic()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powerpc/pseries: Fix use after free in remove_phb_dynamic() In remove_phb_dynamic() we use &phb->io_resource, after we've called device_unregister(&host_bridge->dev). But the unregister may have freed phb, because pcibios_free_controller_deferred() is the release function for the host_bridge. If there are no outstanding references when we call device_unregister() then phb will be freed out from under us. This has gone mainly unnoticed, but with slub_debug and page_poison enabled it can lead to a crash: PID: 7574 TASK: c0000000d492cb80 CPU: 13 COMMAND: "drmgr" #0 [c0000000e4f075a0] crash_kexec at c00000000027d7dc #1 [c0000000e4f075d0] oops_end at c000000000029608 #2 [c0000000e4f07650] __bad_page_fault at c0000000000904b4 #3 [c0000000e4f076c0] do_bad_slb_fault at c00000000009a5a8 #4 [c0000000e4f076f0] data_access_slb_common_virt at c000000000008b30 Data SLB Access [380] exception frame: R0: c000000000167250 R1: c0000000e4f07a00 R2: c000000002a46100 R3: c000000002b39ce8 R4: 00000000000000c0 R5: 00000000000000a9 R6: 3894674d000000c0 R7: 0000000000000000 R8: 00000000000000ff R9: 0000000000000100 R10: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6b6b R11: 0000000000008000 R12: c00000000023da80 R13: c0000009ffd38b00 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: 000000011c87f0f0 R16: 0000000000000006 R17: 0000000000000003 R18: 0000000000000002 R19: 0000000000000004 R20: 0000000000000005 R21: 000000011c87ede8 R22: 000000011c87c5a8 R23: 000000011c87d3a0 R24: 0000000000000000 R25: 0000000000000001 R26: c0000000e4f07cc8 R27: c00000004d1cc400 R28: c0080000031d00e8 R29: c00000004d23d800 R30: c00000004d1d2400 R31: c00000004d1d2540 NIP: c000000000167258 MSR: 8000000000009033 OR3: c000000000e9f474 CTR: 0000000000000000 LR: c000000000167250 XER: 0000000020040003 CCR: 0000000024088420 MQ: 0000000000000000 DAR: 6b6b6b6b6b6b6ba3 DSISR: c0000000e4f07920 Syscall Result: fffffffffffffff2 [NIP : release_resource+56] [LR : release_resource+48] #5 [c0000000e4f07a00] release_resource at c000000000167258 (unreliable) #6 [c0000000e4f07a30] remove_phb_dynamic at c000000000105648 #7 [c0000000e4f07ab0] dlpar_remove_slot at c0080000031a09e8 [rpadlpar_io] #8 [c0000000e4f07b50] remove_slot_store at c0080000031a0b9c [rpadlpar_io] #9 [c0000000e4f07be0] kobj_attr_store at c000000000817d8c #10 [c0000000e4f07c00] sysfs_kf_write at c00000000063e504 #11 [c0000000e4f07c20] kernfs_fop_write_iter at c00000000063d868 #12 [c0000000e4f07c70] new_sync_write at c00000000054339c #13 [c0000000e4f07d10] vfs_write at c000000000546624 #14 [c0000000e4f07d60] ksys_write at c0000000005469f4 #15 [c0000000e4f07db0] system_call_exception at c000000000030840 #16 [c0000000e4f07e10] system_call_vectored_common at c00000000000c168 To avoid it, we can take a reference to the host_bridge->dev until we're done using phb. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mt76: fix tx status related use-after-free race on station removal There is a small race window where ongoing tx activity can lead to a skb getting added to the status tracking idr after that idr has already been cleaned up, which will keep the wcid linked in the status poll list. sysctl: Fix data-races in proc_dou8vec_minmax().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sysctl: Fix data-races in proc_dou8vec_minmax(). A sysctl variable is accessed concurrently, and there is always a chance of data-race. So, all readers and writers need some basic protection to avoid load/store-tearing. This patch changes proc_dou8vec_minmax() to use READ_ONCE() and WRITE_ONCE() internally to fix data-races on the sysctl side. For now, proc_dou8vec_minmax() itself is tolerant to a data-race, but we still need to add annotations on the other subsystem's side.

RDMA/srp: Do not call scsi_done() from srp_abort()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/srp: Do not call scsi_done() from srp_abort() After scmd_eh_abort_handler() has called the SCSI LLD eh_abort_handler callback, it performs one of the following actions: * Call scsi_queue_insert(). * Call scsi_finish_command(). * Call scsi_eh_scmd_add(). Hence, SCSI abort handlers must not call scsi_done(). Otherwise all the above actions would trigger a use-after-free. Hence remove the scsi_done() call from srp_abort(). Keep the srp_free_req() call before returning SUCCESS because we may not see the command again if SUCCESS is returned.

NFC: NULL out the dev->rfkill to prevent UAF

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFC: NULL out the dev->rfkill to prevent UAF Commit 3e3b5dfcd16a ("NFC: reorder the logic in nfc_{un,}register_device") assumes the device_is_registered() in function nfc_dev_up() will help to check when the rfkill is unregistered. However, this check only take effect when device_del(&dev->dev) is done in nfc_unregister_device(). Hence, the rfkill object is still possible be dereferenced. media: pci: cx23885: Fix the error handling in cx23885_initdev()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: pci: cx23885: Fix the error handling in cx23885_initdev() When the driver fails to call the dma_set_mask(), the driver will get the following splat: [ 55.853884] BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in __process_removed_driver+0x3c/0x240 [ 55.854486] Read of size 8 at addr ffff88810de60408 by task modprobe/590 [ 55.856822] Call Trace: [ 55.860327] __process_removed_driver+0x3c/0x240 [ 55.861347] bus_for_each_dev+0x102/0x160 [ 55.861681] i2c_del_driver+0x2f/0x50 This is because the driver has initialized the i2c related resources in cx23885_dev_setup() but not released them in error handling, fix this bug by modifying the error path that jumps after failing to call the dma_set_mask().

netfilter: nf_tables: avoid skb access on nf_stolen

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nf_tables: avoid skb access on nf_stolen When verdict is NF_STOLEN, the skb might have been freed. When tracing is enabled, this can result in a use-after-free: 1. access to skb->nf_trace 2. access to skb->mark 3. computation of trace id 4. dump of packet payload To avoid 1, keep a cached copy of skb->nf_trace in the trace state struct. Refresh this copy whenever verdict is != STOLEN. Avoid 2 by skipping skb->mark access if verdict is STOLEN. 3 is avoided by precomputing the trace id. Only dump the packet when verdict is not "STOLEN".

ALSA: pcm: Fix races among concurrent prealloc proc writes

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: pcm: Fix races among concurrent prealloc proc writes We have no protection against concurrent PCM buffer preallocation changes via proc files, and it may potentially lead to UAF or some weird problem. This patch applies the PCM open_mutex to the proc write operation for avoiding the racy proc writes and the PCM stream open (and further operations).

scsi: lpfc: Resolve NULL ptr dereference after an ELS LOGO is aborted

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: lpfc: Resolve NULL ptr dereference after an ELS LOGO is aborted A use-after-free crash can occur after an ELS LOGO is aborted. Specifically, a nodelist structure is freed and then ndlp->vport->cfg_log_verbose is dereferenced in lpfc_nlp_get() when the discovery state machine is mistakenly called a second time with NLP_EVT_DEVICE_RM argument. Rework lpfc_cmpl_els_logo() to prevent the duplicate calls to release a nodelist structure.
