nvme-tcp: fix potential memory corruption in nvme_tcp_recv_pdu()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-tcp: fix potential memory corruption in nvme_tcp_recv_pdu() nvme_tcp_recv_pdu() doesn't check the validity of the header length. When header digests are enabled, a target might send a packet with an invalid header length (e.g. 255), causing nvme_tcp_verify_hdgst() to access memory outside the allocated area and cause memory corruptions by overwriting it with the calculated digest. Fix this by rejecting packets with an unexpected header length.

usb: cdc-acm: Check control transfer buffer size before access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: cdc-acm: Check control transfer buffer size before access If the first fragment is shorter than struct usb_cdc_notification, we can't calculate an expected_size. Log an error and discard the notification instead of reading lengths from memory outside the received data, which can lead to memory corruption when the expected_size decreases between fragments, causing `expected_size - acm->nb_index` to wrap. This issue has been present since the beginning of git history; however, it only leads to memory corruption since commit ea2583529cd1 ("cdc-acm: reassemble fragmented notifications"). A mitigating factor is that acm_ctrl_irq() can only execute after userspace has opened /dev/ttyACM*; but if ModemManager is running, ModemManager will do that automatically depending on the USB device's vendor/product IDs and its other interfaces.

arm64: cacheinfo: Avoid out-of-bounds write to cacheinfo array

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: cacheinfo: Avoid out-of-bounds write to cacheinfo array The loop that detects/populates cache information already has a bounds check on the array size but does not account for cache levels with separate data/instructions cache. Fix this by incrementing the index for any populated leaf (instead of any populated level).

misc: fastrpc: Fix copy buffer page size

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: fastrpc: Fix copy buffer page size For non-registered buffer, fastrpc driver copies the buffer and pass it to the remote subsystem. There is a problem with current implementation of page size calculation which is not considering the offset in the calculation. This might lead to passing of improper and out-of-bounds page size which could result in memory issue. Calculate page start and page end using the offset adjusted address instead of absolute address.

Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel's Linux Kernel Performance Events (perf) component

A heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Linux Kernel Performance Events (perf) component can be exploited to achieve local privilege escalation. If perf_read_group() is called while an event's sibling_list is smaller than its child's sibling_list, it can increment or write to memory locations outside of the allocated buffer. We recommend upgrading past commit 32671e3799ca2e4590773fd0e63aaa4229e50c06.

iommufd/iova_bitmap: Fix shift-out-of-bounds in iova_bitmap_offset_to_index()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommufd/iova_bitmap: Fix shift-out-of-bounds in iova_bitmap_offset_to_index() Resolve a UBSAN shift-out-of-bounds issue in iova_bitmap_offset_to_index() where shifting the constant "1" (of type int) by bitmap->mapped.pgshift (an unsigned long value) could result in undefined behavior. The constant "1" defaults to a 32-bit "int", and when "pgshift" exceeds 31 (e.g., pgshift = 63) the shift operation overflows, as the result cannot be represented in a 32-bit type. To resolve this, the constant is updated to "1UL", promoting it to an unsigned long type to match the operand's type.

slimbus: messaging: Free transaction ID in delayed interrupt scenario

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: slimbus: messaging: Free transaction ID in delayed interrupt scenario In case of interrupt delay for any reason, slim_do_transfer() returns timeout error but the transaction ID (TID) is not freed. This results into invalid memory access inside qcom_slim_ngd_rx_msgq_cb() due to invalid TID. xfrm: espintcp: do not reuse an in-progress partial send

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfrm: espintcp: do not reuse an in-progress partial send espintcp keeps a single in-flight transmit in ctx->partial. Before building a new sk_msg, espintcp_sendmsg() first tries to flush that state through espintcp_push_msgs(). For blocking callers, espintcp_push_msgs() may return success even when the previous partial send is still pending. espintcp_sendmsg() would then reinitialize emsg->skmsg and reuse ctx->partial while the old transfer still owns that state. Do not rebuild the send message when ctx->partial is still in progress. If espintcp_push_msgs() returns with emsg->len still set, fail the new send instead of overwriting the live partial state. This is a memory-safety fix: reusing the live partial-send state can leave a stale offset attached to a new sk_msg and lead to an out-of- bounds read in the send path. tcp_sendmsg_locked() already handles waiting for send buffer memory, so the fix here is just to preserve espintcp's one-message-at-a-time transmit state.

Commit 465cabc97b42 ("powerpc/code-patching: introduce patch_instructions()") use copy_to_kernel_nofault() to copy several instructions at once. Glibc: heap-based buffer overflow in __vsyslog_internal()

A heap-based buffer overflow was found in the __vsyslog_internal function of the glibc library. This function is called by the syslog and vsyslog functions. This issue occurs when the openlog function was not called, or called with the ident argument set to NULL, and the program name (the basename of argv[0]) is bigger than 1024 bytes, resulting in an application crash or local privilege escalation. This issue affects glibc 2.36 and newer.

net: hns3: fixed hclge_fetch_pf_reg accesses bar space out of bounds issue

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: hns3: fixed hclge_fetch_pf_reg accesses bar space out of bounds issue The TQP BAR space is divided into two segments. TQPs 0-1023 and TQPs 1024-1279 are in different BAR space addresses. However, hclge_fetch_pf_reg does not distinguish the tqp space information when reading the tqp space information. When the number of TQPs is greater than 1024, access bar space overwriting occurs. The problem of different segments has been considered during the initialization of tqp.io_base. Therefore, tqp.io_base is directly used when the queue is read in hclge_fetch_pf_reg. Other ancient HCs are known which also expect the bit to be set and they ignore Link TRBs if it's not. Reportedly, 0.95 spec guaranteed that the bit is set. The bandwidth-starved NEC HC running a 32KB/uframe UVC endpoint reports tens of MSEs per second and runs into the bug within seconds. vdpa: Add features attr to vdpa_nl_policy for nlattr length check

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vdpa: Add features attr to vdpa_nl_policy for nlattr length check The vdpa_nl_policy structure is used to validate the nlattr when parsing the incoming nlmsg. It will ensure the attribute being described produces a valid nlattr pointer in info->attrs before entering into each handler in vdpa_nl_ops. That is to say, the missing part in vdpa_nl_policy may lead to illegal nlattr after parsing, which could lead to OOB read just like CVE-2023-3773. This patch adds the missing nla_policy for vdpa features attr to avoid such bugs.

A flaw was found in the Linux Kernel in RDS (Reliable Datagram Sockets) protocol. The rds_rm_zerocopy_callback() uses list_entry() on the head of a list causing a type confusion. Local user can trigger this with rds_message_put(). Type confusion leads to `struct rds_msg_zcopy_info *info` actually points to something else that is potentially controlled by local user. It is known how to trigger this, which causes an out of bounds access, and a lock corruption.

scsi: target: iscsi: Fix buffer overflow in lio_target_nacl_info_show()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: target: iscsi: Fix buffer overflow in lio_target_nacl_info_show() The function lio_target_nacl_info_show() uses sprintf() in a loop to print details for every iSCSI connection in a session without checking for the buffer length. With enough iSCSI connections it's possible to overflow the buffer provided by configfs and corrupt the memory. This patch replaces sprintf() with sysfs_emit_at() that checks for buffer boundries.

USB: serial: io_ti: fix heap overflow in build_i2c_fw_hdr()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: io_ti: fix heap overflow in build_i2c_fw_hdr() build_i2c_fw_hdr() allocates a fixed-size buffer of (16*1024 - 512) + sizeof(struct ti_i2c_firmware_rec) bytes, then copies le16_to_cpu(img_header->Length) bytes into it without validating that Length fits within the available space after the firmware record header. img_header->Length is a __le16 from the firmware file and can be up to 65535. check_fw_sanity() validates the total firmware size but not img_header->Length specifically. Fix by rejecting images where img_header->Length exceeds the available destination space.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/i915/gem: add missing boundary check in vm_access A missing bounds check in vm_access() can lead to an out-of-bounds read or write in the adjacent memory area, since the len attribute is not validated before the memcpy later in the function, potentially hitting: [ 183.637831] BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffc90000c86000 [ 183.637934] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ 183.637997] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ 183.638059] PGD 100000067 P4D 100000067 PUD 100258067 PMD 106341067 PTE 0 [ 183.638144] Oops: 0000 [#2] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI [ 183.638201] CPU: 3 PID: 1790 Comm: poc Tainted: G D 5.17.0-rc6-ci-drm-11296+ #1 [ 183.638298] Hardware name: Intel Corporation CoffeeLake Client Platform/CoffeeLake H DDR4 RVP, BIOS CNLSFWR1.R00.X208.B00.1905301319 05/30/2019 [ 183.638430] RIP: 0010:memcpy_erms+0x6/0x10 [ 183.640213] RSP: 0018:ffffc90001763d48 EFLAGS: 00010246 [ 183.641117] RAX: ffff888109c14000 RBX: ffff888111bece40 RCX: 0000000000000ffc [ 183.642029] RDX: 0000000000001000 RSI: ffffc90000c86000 RDI: ffff888109c14004 [ 183.642946] RBP: 0000000000000ffc R08: 800000000000016b R09: 0000000000000000 [ 183.643848] R10: ffffc90000c85000 R11: 0000000000000048 R12: 0000000000001000 [ 183.644742] R13: ffff888111bed190 R14: ffff888109c14000 R15: 0000000000001000 [ 183.645653] FS: 00007fe5ef807540(0000) GS:ffff88845b380000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ 183.646570] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ 183.647481] CR2: ffffc90000c86000 CR3: 000000010ff02006 CR4: 00000000003706e0 [ 183.648384] DR0: 0000000000000000 DR1: 0000000000000000 DR2: 0000000000000000 [ 183.649271] DR3: 0000000000000000 DR6: 00000000fffe0ff0 DR7: 0000000000000400 [ 183.650142] Call Trace: [ 183.650988] <TASK> [ 183.651793] vm_access+0x1f0/0x2a0 [i915] [ 183.652726] __access_remote_vm+0x224/0x380 [ 183.653561] mem_rw.isra.0+0xf9/0x190 [ 183.654402] vfs_read+0x9d/0x1b0 [ 183.655238] ksys_read+0x63/0xe0 [ 183.656065] do_syscall_64+0x38/0xc0 [ 183.656882] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae [ 183.657663] RIP: 0033:0x7fe5ef725142 [ 183.659351] RSP: 002b:00007ffe1e81c7e8 EFLAGS: 00000246 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000000 [ 183.660227] RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 0000557055dfb780 RCX: 00007fe5ef725142 [ 183.661104] RDX: 0000000000001000 RSI: 00007ffe1e81d880 RDI: 0000000000000005 [ 183.661972] RBP: 00007ffe1e81e890 R08: 0000000000000030 R09: 0000000000000046 [ 183.662832] R10: 0000557055dfc2e0 R11: 0000000000000246 R12: 0000557055dfb1c0 [ 183.663691] R13: 00007ffe1e81e980 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: 0000000000000000 Changes since v1: - Updated if condition with range_overflows_t [Chris Wilson] [mauld: tidy up the commit message and add Cc: stable] (cherry picked from commit 661412e301e2ca86799aa4f400d1cf0bd38c57c6)

drm/radeon: fix potential buffer overflow in ni_set_mc_special_registers()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/radeon: fix potential buffer overflow in ni_set_mc_special_registers() The last case label can write two buffers 'mc_reg_address[j]' and 'mc_data[j]' with 'j' offset equal to SMC_NISLANDS_MC_REGISTER_ARRAY_SIZE since there are no checks for this value in both case labels after the last 'j++'. Instead of changing '>' to '>=' there, add the bounds check at the start of the second 'case' (the first one already has it). Also, remove redundant last checks for 'j' index bigger than array size. The expression is always false. Moreover, before or after the patch 'table->last' can be equal to SMC_NISLANDS_MC_REGISTER_ARRAY_SIZE and it seems it can be a valid value. Detected using the static analysis tool - Svace.

iommu/omap: Fix buffer overflow in debugfs

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/omap: Fix buffer overflow in debugfs There are two issues here: 1) The "len" variable needs to be checked before the very first write. Otherwise if omap2_iommu_dump_ctx() with "bytes" less than 32 it is a buffer overflow. 2) The snprintf() function returns the number of bytes that *would* have been copied if there were enough space. But we want to know the number of bytes which were *actually* copied so use scnprintf() instead.

NFSD: Protect against send buffer overflow in NFSv2 READ

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Protect against send buffer overflow in NFSv2 READ Since before the git era, NFSD has conserved the number of pages held by each nfsd thread by combining the RPC receive and send buffers into a single array of pages. This works because there are no cases where an operation needs a large RPC Call message and a large RPC Reply at the same time. Once an RPC Call has been received, svc_process() updates svc_rqst::rq_res to describe the part of rq_pages that can be used for constructing the Reply. This means that the send buffer (rq_res) shrinks when the received RPC record containing the RPC Call is large. A client can force this shrinkage on TCP by sending a correctly- formed RPC Call header contained in an RPC record that is excessively large. The full maximum payload size cannot be constructed in that case.

crypto: ccp - copy IV using skcipher ivsize

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: ccp - copy IV using skcipher ivsize AF_ALG rfc3686-ctr-aes-ccp requests pass an 8-byte IV to the driver. ccp_aes_complete() restores AES_BLOCK_SIZE bytes into the caller's IV buffer while RFC3686 skciphers expose an 8-byte IV, so the restore overruns the provided buffer. Use crypto_skcipher_ivsize() to copy only the algorithm's IV length.

power: supply: core: Fix boundary conditions in interpolation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: power: supply: core: Fix boundary conditions in interpolation The functions power_supply_temp2resist_simple and power_supply_ocv2cap_simple handle boundary conditions incorrectly. The change was introduced in a4585ba2050f460f749bbaf2b67bd56c41e30283 ("power: supply: core: Use library interpolation"). There are two issues: First, the lines "high = i - 1" and "high = i" in ocv2cap have the wrong order compared to temp2resist. As a consequence, ocv2cap sets high=-1 if ocv>table[0].ocv, which causes an out-of-bounds read. Second, the logic of temp2resist is also not correct. Consider the case table[] = {{20, 100}, {10, 80}, {0, 60}}. For temp=5, we expect a resistance of 70% by interpolation. However, temp2resist sets high=low=2 and returns 60.

s390: avoid using global register for current_stack_pointer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390: avoid using global register for current_stack_pointer Commit 30de14b1884b ("s390: current_stack_pointer shouldn't be a function") made current_stack_pointer a global register variable like on many other architectures. Unfortunately on s390 it uncovers old gcc bug which is fixed only since gcc-9.1 [gcc commit 3ad7fed1cc87 ("S/390: Fix PR89775. Stackpointer save/restore instructions removed")] and backported to gcc-8.4 and later. Due to this bug gcc versions prior to 8.4 generate broken code which leads to stack corruptions. Current minimal gcc version required to build the kernel is declared as 5.1. It is not possible to fix all old gcc versions, so work around this problem by avoiding using global register variable for current_stack_pointer.

ata: sata_dwc_460ex: Fix crash due to OOB write

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: sata_dwc_460ex: Fix crash due to OOB write the driver uses libata's "tag" values from in various arrays. Since the mentioned patch bumped the ATA_TAG_INTERNAL to 32, the value of the SATA_DWC_QCMD_MAX needs to account for that. Otherwise ATA_TAG_INTERNAL usage cause similar crashes like this as reported by Tice Rex on the OpenWrt Forum and reproduced (with symbols) here: | BUG: Kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0x00000000 | Faulting instruction address: 0xc03ed4b8 | Oops: Kernel access of bad area, sig: 11 [#1] | BE PAGE_SIZE=4K PowerPC 44x Platform | CPU: 0 PID: 362 Comm: scsi_eh_1 Not tainted 5.4.163 #0 | NIP: c03ed4b8 LR: c03d27e8 CTR: c03ed36c | REGS: cfa59950 TRAP: 0300 Not tainted (5.4.163) | MSR: 00021000 <CE,ME> CR: 42000222 XER: 00000000 | DEAR: 00000000 ESR: 00000000 | GPR00: c03d27e8 cfa59a08 cfa55fe0 00000000 0fa46bc0 [...] | [..] | NIP [c03ed4b8] sata_dwc_qc_issue+0x14c/0x254 | LR [c03d27e8] ata_qc_issue+0x1c8/0x2dc | Call Trace: | [cfa59a08] [c003f4e0] __cancel_work_timer+0x124/0x194 (unreliable) | [cfa59a78] [c03d27e8] ata_qc_issue+0x1c8/0x2dc | [cfa59a98] [c03d2b3c] ata_exec_internal_sg+0x240/0x524 | [cfa59b08] [c03d2e98] ata_exec_internal+0x78/0xe0 | [cfa59b58] [c03d30fc] ata_read_log_page.part.38+0x1dc/0x204 | [cfa59bc8] [c03d324c] ata_identify_page_supported+0x68/0x130 | [...] This is because sata_dwc_dma_xfer_complete() NULLs the dma_pending's next neighbour "chan" (a *dma_chan struct) in this '32' case right here (line ~735): > hsdevp->dma_pending[tag] = SATA_DWC_DMA_PENDING_NONE; Then the next time, a dma gets issued; dma_dwc_xfer_setup() passes the NULL'd hsdevp->chan to the dmaengine_slave_config() which then causes the crash. With this patch, SATA_DWC_QCMD_MAX is now set to ATA_MAX_QUEUE + 1. This avoids the OOB. But please note, there was a worthwhile discussion on what ATA_TAG_INTERNAL and ATA_MAX_QUEUE is. And why there should not be a "fake" 33 command-long queue size. Ideally, the dw driver should account for the ATA_TAG_INTERNAL. In Damien Le Moal's words: "... having looked at the driver, it is a bigger change than just faking a 33rd "tag" that is in fact not a command tag at all." ACPI: tables: FPDT: Don't call acpi_os_map_memory() on invalid phys address

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: tables: FPDT: Don't call acpi_os_map_memory() on invalid phys address On a Packard Bell Dot SC (Intel Atom N2600 model) there is a FPDT table which contains invalid physical addresses, with high bits set which fall outside the range of the CPU-s supported physical address range. watch_queue: Fix filter limit check

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: watch_queue: Fix filter limit check In watch_queue_set_filter(), there are a couple of places where we check that the filter type value does not exceed what the type_filter bitmap can hold. One place calculates the number of bits by: if (tf[i].type >= sizeof(wfilter->type_filter) * 8) which is fine, but the second does: if (tf[i].type >= sizeof(wfilter->type_filter) * BITS_PER_LONG) which is not. This can lead to a couple of out-of-bounds writes due to a too-large type: (1) __set_bit() on wfilter->type_filter (2) Writing more elements in wfilter->filters[] than we allocated. Fix this by just using the proper WATCH_TYPE__NR instead, which is the number of types we actually know about. The bug may cause an oops looking something like: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in watch_queue_set_filter+0x659/0x740 Write of size 4 at addr ffff88800d2c66bc by task watch_queue_oob/611 ... wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential stack-out-of-bounds in brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential stack-out-of-bounds in brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds() This patch fixes a stack-out-of-bounds read in brcmfmac that occurs when 'buf' that is not null-terminated is passed as an argument of strsep() in brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds(). This buffer is filled with a firmware version string by memcpy() in brcmf_fil_iovar_data_get(). The patch ensures buf is null-terminated. Found by a modified version of syzkaller. drm/amd/display: Clamp HDMI HDCP2 rx_id_list read to buffer size

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Clamp HDMI HDCP2 rx_id_list read to buffer size [Why & How] During HDCP 2.x repeater authentication over HDMI, the driver reads the sink's RxStatus register and extracts a 10-bit message size field (max value 1023). This value is used as the read length for the ReceiverID list without being clamped to the size of the destination buffer rx_id_list[177]. A malicious HDMI repeater could advertise a message size larger than the buffer, causing an out-of-bounds write during the I2C read. Clamp the read length in mod_hdcp_read_rx_id_list() to the size of the rx_id_list buffer, matching the approach already used in the DP branch. NFSD: Avoid calling OPDESC() with ops->opnum == OP_ILLEGAL

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSD: Avoid calling OPDESC() with ops->opnum == OP_ILLEGAL OPDESC() simply indexes into nfsd4_ops[] by the op's operation number, without range checking that value. It assumes callers are careful to avoid calling it with an out-of-bounds opnum value. nfsd4_decode_compound() is not so careful, and can invoke OPDESC() with opnum set to OP_ILLEGAL, which is 10044 -- well beyond the end of nfsd4_ops[].
