This issue affects Junos OS on SRX Series: * all versions before 21.2R3-S10, * all versions of 21.3, * from 21.4 before 21.4R3-S12, * all versions of 22.1, * from 22.2 before 22.2R3-S8, * all versions of 22.4, * from 22.4 before 22.4R3-S9, * from 23.2 before 23.2R2-S6, * from 23.4 before 23.4R2-S7, * from 24.2 before 24.2R2-S3, * from 24.4 before 24.4R2-S3, * from 25.2 before 25.2R1-S2, 25.2R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the the Public Key Infrastructure daemon (pkid) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated networked attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS). The pkid is responsible for the certificate verification. Upon a failed verification, the pkid uses all CPU resources and becomes unresponsive to future verification attempts. This means that all subsequent VPN negotiations depending on certificate verification will fail. This CPU utilization of pkid can be checked using this command: root@srx> show system processes extensive | match pkid xxxxx root 103 0 846M 136M CPU1 1 569:00 100.00% pkid This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * All versions prior to 20.4R3-S10; * 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S7; * 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R3-S3; * 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R3-S1; * 22.4 versions prior to 22.4R3; * 23.2 versions prior to 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000 Series allows a network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If a specific valid IP packet is received and that packet needs to be routed over a VXLAN tunnel, this will result in a PFE wedge condition due to which traffic gets impacted. As this is not a crash and restart scenario, this condition will persist until the system is rebooted to recover. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX10000: 20.3 version 20.3R1 and later versions; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S5; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S5; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S4; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3-S1; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R3; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R2; 22.3 versions prior to 22.3R1-S2, 22.3R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in the packet forwarding engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If specific traffic is received on MX Series and its rate exceeds the respective DDoS protection limit the ingress PFE will crash and restart. Continued receipt of this traffic will create a sustained DoS condition. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series: All versions prior to 19.1R3-S10; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R3-S7; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R3-S8; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R3-S11; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R3-S5; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R3-S6; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S5; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S4; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R2.
An Improper Check for Unusual or Exceptional Conditions vulnerability in BGP route processing of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an attacker to cause Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) crash by sending a BGP route with invalid next-hop resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of this packet will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. This issue only affects systems without import policy configured. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-S4; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-S3; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R3-S2; 21.4 versions prior to 21.4R2-S2, 21.4R3; 22.1 versions prior to 22.1R1-S2, 22.1R2; 22.2 versions prior to 22.2R1-S1, 22.2R2. An Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows a network-based, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If an attacker sends high rate of specific ICMP traffic to a device with VXLAN configured, this causes a deadlock of the PFE and results in the device becoming unresponsive. A manual restart will be required to recover the device. This issue only affects EX4100, EX4400, EX4600, QFX5000 Series devices. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * 21.4R3 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S4; * 22.1R3 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S3; * 22.2R2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S1; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R2-S2, 22.3R3; * 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R2; * 23.1 versions earlier than 23.1R2.
A Double Free vulnerability in the flow processing daemon (flowd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series allows a network-based, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a remote access VPN scenario, if a "tcp-encap-profile" is configured and a sequence of specific packets is received, a flowd crash and restart will be observed. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX Series: * All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S8; * 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S3; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S1; * 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R2-S2, 22.4R3.
Juniper Junos OS before 12.1X44-D50, 12.1X46 before 12.1X46-D35, 12.1X47 before 12.1X47-D25, 12.3 before 12.3R10, 12.3X48 before 12.3X48-D15, 13.2 before 13.2R8, 13.3 before 13.3R7, 14.1 before 14.1R5, and 14.2 before 14.2R1 do not properly handle TCP packet reassembly, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (buffer consumption) via a crafted sequence of packets "destined to the device."
Juniper Junos before 11.4R11, 12.1 before 12.1R9, 12.2 before 12.2R7, 12.3R4 before 12.3R4-S3, 13.1 before 13.1R4, 13.2 before 13.2R2, and 13.3 before 13.3R1, as used in MX Series and T4000 routers, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (PFE restart) via a crafted IP packet to certain (1) Trio or (2) Cassis-based Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) modules.
When Express Path (formerly known as service offloading) is configured on Juniper Networks SRX1400, SRX3400, SRX3600, SRX5400, SRX5600, SRX5800 in high availability cluster configuration mode, certain multicast packets might cause the flowd process to crash, halting or interrupting traffic from flowing through the device and triggering RG1+ (data-plane) fail-over to the secondary node. Repeated crashes of the flowd process may constitute an extended denial of service condition. This service is not enabled by default and is only supported in high-end SRX platforms. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS 12.3X48 prior to 12.3X48-D45, 15.1X49 prior to 15.1X49-D80 on SRX1400, SRX3400, SRX3600, SRX5400, SRX5600, SRX5800.

An Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause Denial of Service (DoS). On all Junos OS MX Series and SRX Series platforms, when SIP ALG is enabled, and a specific SIP packet is received and processed, NAT IP allocation fails for genuine traffic, which causes Denial of Service (DoS). Continuous receipt of this specific SIP ALG packet will cause a sustained DoS condition. NAT IP usage can be monitored by running the following command. user@srx> show security nat resource-usage source-pool <source_pool_name> Pool name: source_pool_name .. Address Factor-index Port-range Used Avail Total Usage X.X.X.X 0 Single Ports 50258 52342 62464 96% <<<<< - Alg Ports 0 2048 2048 0% This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series and SRX Series * All versions earlier than 21.2R3-S6; * 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S3; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S1; * 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R2-S2, 22.4R3; * 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R1-S1, 23.2R2.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the aftmand process of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to consume memory resources, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) condition. The processes do not recover on their own and must be manually restarted. This issue affects both IPv4 and IPv6. Changes in memory usage can be monitored using the following CLI command: user@device> show system memory node <fpc slot> | grep evo-aftmann This issue affects Junos OS Evolved: * All versions before 21.2R3-S8-EVO, * 21.3 versions before 21.3R3-S5-EVO, * 21.4 versions before 21.4R3-S5-EVO, * 22.1 versions before 22.1R3-S4-EVO, * 22.2 versions before 22.2R3-S4-EVO, * 22.3 versions before 22.3R3-S3-EVO, * 22.4 versions before 22.4R2-S2-EVO, 22.4R3-EVO, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R1-S1-EVO, 23.2R2-EVO.
A NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability in Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7024, ACX7100-32C and ACX7100-48L allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If a specific IPv4 UDP packet is received and sent to the Routing Engine (RE) packetio crashes and restarts which causes a momentary traffic interruption. Continued receipt of such packets will lead to a sustained DoS. This issue does not happen with IPv6 packets. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on ACX7024, ACX7100-32C and ACX7100-48L: * 21.4-EVO versions earlier than 21.4R3-S6-EVO; * 22.1-EVO versions earlier than 22.1R3-S5-EVO; * 22.2-EVO versions earlier than 22.2R2-S1-EVO, 22.2R3-EVO; * 22.3-EVO versions earlier than 22.3R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions earlier than 21.4R1-EVO.
On Junos devices with the BGP graceful restart helper mode enabled or the BGP graceful restart mechanism enabled, a BGP session restart on a remote peer that has the graceful restart mechanism enabled may cause the local routing protocol daemon (RPD) process to crash and restart. By simulating a specific BGP session restart, an attacker can repeatedly crash the RPD process causing prolonged denial of service (DoS). Graceful restart helper mode for BGP is enabled by default. No other Juniper Networks products or platforms are affected by this issue. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS: 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R7; 16.1X65 versions prior to 16.1X65-D48; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S8; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R2-S7, 17.1R3; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R1-S7, 17.2R3; 17.2X75 versions prior to 17.2X75-D92, 17.2X75-D102, 17.2X75-D110; 17.3 versions prior to 17.3R2-S2, 17.3R3; 17.4 versions prior to 17.4R1-S4, 17.4R2; 18.1 versions prior to 18.1R2. A Missing Release of Memory after Effective Lifetime vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). In a Juniper Flow Monitoring (jflow) scenario route churn that causes BGP next hops to be updated will cause a slow memory leak and eventually a crash and restart of rpd. Thread level memory utilization for the areas where the leak occurs can be checked using the below command: user@host> show task memory detail | match so_in so_in6 28 32 344450 11022400 344760 11032320 so_in 8 16 1841629 29466064 1841734 29467744 This issue affects: Junos OS * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3. Junos OS Evolved * 21.4-EVO versions earlier than 21.4R3-EVO; * 22.1-EVO versions earlier than 22.1R3-EVO; * 22.2-EVO versions earlier than 22.2R3-EVO. This issue does not affect: Juniper Networks Junos OS versions earlier than 21.4R1. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions earlier than 21.4R1.
Unspecified vulnerability in Juniper Junos before 11.4R10-S1, before 11.4R11, 12.1X44 before 12.1X44-D26, 12.1X44 before 12.1X44-D30, 12.1X45 before 12.1X45-D20, and 12.1X46 before 12.1X46-D10, when Dynamic IPsec VPN is configured, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (new Dynamic VPN connection failures and CPU and disk consumption) via unknown vectors.
Juniper Junos OS before 13.2X51-D36, 14.1X53 before 14.1X53-D25, and 15.2 before 15.2R1 on EX4300 series switches allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (network loop and bandwidth consumption) via unspecified vectors related to Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) traffic.
An Uncontrolled Resource Consumption vulnerability in the HTTP daemon (httpd) of Juniper Networks Junos Space allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker flooding the device with inbound API calls to consume all resources on the system, leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). After continuously flooding the system with inbound connection requests, all available file handles become consumed, blocking access to the system via SSH and the web user interface (WebUI), resulting in a management interface DoS. A manual reboot of the system is required to restore functionality. This issue affects Junos Space: * all versions before 22.2R1 Patch V3, * from 23.1 before 23.1R1 Patch V3.
A Buffer Over-read vulnerability in the routing protocol daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS). When an affected device receives a BGP update with a set of specific optional transitive attributes over an established peering session, rpd will crash and restart when attempting to advertise the received information to another peer. This issue can only happen if one or both of the BGP peers of the receiving session are non-4-byte-AS capable as determined from the advertised capabilities during BGP session establishment. Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved default behavior is 4-byte-AS capable unless this has been specifically disabled by configuring: [ protocols bgp ... disable-4byte-as ] Established BGP sessions can be checked by executing: show bgp neighbor <IP address> | match "4 byte AS" This issue affects: Junos OS: * all versions before 22.4R3-S8, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2; Junos OS Evolved: * all versions before 22.4R3-S8-EVO, * 23.2 versions before 23.2R2-S5-EVO, * 23.4 versions before 23.4R2-S6-EVO, * 24.2 versions before 24.2R2-S2-EVO, * 24.4 versions before 24.4R2-EVO.
An Improper Input Validation vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (rpd) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If a BGP update message is received over an established BGP session, and that message contains a specific, optional transitive attribute, this session will be torn down with an update message error. This issue cannot propagate beyond an affected system as the processing error occurs as soon as the update is received. This issue is exploitable remotely as the respective attribute will propagate through unaffected systems and intermediate AS (if any). Continuous receipt of a BGP update containing this attribute will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition. Since this issue only affects 22.3R1, Juniper strongly encourages customers to move to 22.3R1-S1. Juniper SIRT felt that the need to promptly warn customers about this issue affecting the 22.3R1 versions of Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved warranted an Out of Cycle JSA. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS version 22.3R1. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved version 22.3R1-EVO. This issue does not affect: Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 22.3R1. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 22.3R1-EVO.
An Uncontrolled Memory Allocation vulnerability leading to a Heap-based Buffer Overflow in the packet forwarding engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS allows a network-based unauthenticated attacker to flood the device with traffic leading to a Denial of Service (DoS). The device must be configured with storm control profiling limiting the number of unknown broadcast, multicast, or unicast traffic to be vulnerable to this issue. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS on QFX5100/QFX5110/QFX5120/QFX5200/QFX5210/EX4600/EX4650 Series; 20.2 version 20.2R1 and later versions prior to 20.2R2. This issue does not affect: Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 20.2R1.
A Use of Uninitialized Resource vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (PFE) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on SRX4700 devices allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When forwarding-options sampling is enabled, receipt of any traffic destined to the Routing Engine (RE) by the PFE line card leads to an FPC crash and restart, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Continued receipt and processing of any traffic leading to the RE by the PFE line card will create a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition to the PFE line card. This issue affects Junos OS on SRX4700: * from 24.4 before 24.4R1-S3, 24.4R2 This issue affects IPv4 and IPv6.
An Improper Update of Reference Count vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network-based attacker to trigger a counter overflow, eventually causing a Denial of Service (DoS). This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: All versions prior to 20.4R3-S1-EVO; 21.1 versions prior to 21.1R3-EVO; 21.2 versions prior to 21.2R3-EVO; 21.3 versions prior to 21.3R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS.
An Improper Validation of Syntactic Correctness of Input vulnerability in the kernel of Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved on PTX series allows a network-based, unauthenticated attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). When an incoming TCP packet destined to the device is malformed there is a possibility of a kernel panic. Only TCP packets destined to the ports for BGP, LDP and MSDP can trigger this. This issue only affects PTX10004, PTX10008, PTX10016. No other PTX Series devices or other platforms are affected. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: 20.4-EVO versions prior to 20.4R3-S4-EVO; 21.3-EVO versions prior to 21.3R3-EVO; 21.4-EVO versions prior to 21.4R3-EVO; 22.1-EVO versions prior to 22.1R2-EVO. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved versions prior to 20.4R1-EVO.
