ServiceNow has released upgrades and patches that address a Reflected Cross-Site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that was identified in the ServiceNow Polaris Layout. This vulnerability would enable an authenticated user to inject arbitrary scripts.
There exists a reflected XSS within the logout functionality of ServiceNow versions lower than Quebec Patch 10 Hotfix 11b, Rome Patch 10 Hotfix 3b, San Diego Patch 9, Tokyo Patch 4, and Utah GA. This enables an unauthenticated remote attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in the browser-based web console.
A XSS vulnerability was identified in the ServiceNow UI page assessment_redirect. Tornado is a Python web framework and asynchronous networking library. In versions 6.5.2 and below, the supplied reason phrase is used unescaped in HTTP headers (where it could be used for header injection) or in HTML in the default error page (where it could be used for XSS) and can be exploited by passing untrusted or malicious data into the reason argument. Orejime is a consent manager that focuses on accessibility. On HTML elements handled by Orejime prior to version 2.3.2, one could run malicious code by embedding `javascript:` code within data attributes. When consenting to the related purpose, Orejime would turn data attributes into unprefixed ones (i.e. `data-href` into `href`), thus executing the code. This shouldn't have any impact on most setups, as elements handled by Orejime are generally hardcoded. The problem would only arise if somebody could inject HTML code within pages. The problem has been patched in version 2.3.2. As a workaround, the problem can be fixed outside of Orejime by sanitizing attributes which could contain executable code.
