In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: af_can: fix NULL pointer dereference in can_rx_register() It causes NULL pointer dereference when testing as following: (a) use syscall(__NR_socket, 0x10ul, 3ul, 0) to create netlink socket. (b) use syscall(__NR_sendmsg, ...) to create bond link device and vxcan link device, and bind vxcan device to bond device (can also use ifenslave command to bind vxcan device to bond device). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: lpfc: Validate hdwq pointers before dereferencing in reset/errata paths When the HBA is undergoing a reset or is handling an errata event, NULL ptr dereference crashes may occur in routines such as lpfc_sli_flush_io_rings(), lpfc_dev_loss_tmo_callbk(), or lpfc_abort_handler(). Add NULL ptr checks before dereferencing hdwq pointers that may have been freed due to operations colliding with a reset or errata event handler.

BPF: Fix potential bad pointer dereference in bpf_sys_bpf()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: BPF: Fix potential bad pointer dereference in bpf_sys_bpf() The bpf_sys_bpf() helper function allows an eBPF program to load another eBPF program from within the kernel. In this case the argument union bpf_attr pointer (as well as the insns and license pointers inside) is a kernel address instead of a userspace address (which is the case of a usual bpf() syscall). To make the memory copying process in the syscall work in both cases, bpfptr_t was introduced to wrap around the pointer and distinguish its origin. Specifically, when copying memory contents from a bpfptr_t, a copy_from_user() is performed in case of a userspace address and a memcpy() is performed for a kernel address. This can lead to problems because the in-kernel pointer is never checked for validity. The problem happens when an eBPF syscall program tries to call bpf_sys_bpf() to load a program but provides a bad insns pointer -- say 0xdeadbeef -- in the bpf_attr union. The helper calls __sys_bpf() which would then call bpf_prog_load() to load the program. bpf_prog_load() is responsible for copying the eBPF instructions to the newly allocated memory for the program; it creates a kernel bpfptr_t for insns and invokes copy_from_bpfptr(). Internally, all bpfptr_t operations are backed by the corresponding sockptr_t operations, which performs direct memcpy() on kernel pointers for copy_from/strncpy_from operations. Therefore, the code is always happy to dereference the bad pointer to trigger a un-handle-able page fault and in turn an oops. However, this is not supposed to happen because at that point the eBPF program is already verified and should not cause a memory error. gfs2: fix double destroy_workqueue error

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: fix double destroy_workqueue error When gfs2_fill_super() fails, destroy_workqueue() is called within gfs2_gl_hash_clear(), and the subsequent code path calls destroy_workqueue() on the same work queue again. This issue can be fixed by setting the work queue pointer to NULL after the first destroy_workqueue() call and checking for a NULL pointer before attempting to destroy the work queue again.

binder: fix alloc->vma_vm_mm null-ptr dereference

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: binder: fix alloc->vma_vm_mm null-ptr dereference Syzbot reported a couple issues introduced by commit 44e602b4e52f ("binder_alloc: add missing mmap_lock calls when using the VMA"), in which we attempt to acquire the mmap_lock when alloc->vma_vm_mm has not been initialized yet. This can happen if a binder_proc receives a transaction without having previously called mmap() to setup the binder_proc->alloc space in [1]. Also, a similar issue occurs via binder_alloc_print_pages() when we try to dump the debugfs binder stats file in [2]. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Add NULL check for function pointer in dcn401_set_output_transfer_func This commit adds a null check for the set_output_gamma function pointer in the dcn401_set_output_transfer_func function. Previously, set_output_gamma was being checked for null, but then it was being dereferenced without any null check. This could lead to a null pointer dereference if set_output_gamma is null. To fix this, we now ensure that set_output_gamma is not null before dereferencing it. We do this by adding a null check for set_output_gamma before the call to set_output_gamma.

rxrpc: Fix listen() setting the bar too high for the prealloc rings

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Fix listen() setting the bar too high for the prealloc rings AF_RXRPC's listen() handler lets you set the backlog up to 32 (if you bump up the sysctl), but whilst the preallocation circular buffers have 32 slots in them, one of them has to be a dead slot because we're using CIRC_CNT(). This means that listen(rxrpc_sock, 32) will cause an oops when the socket is closed because rxrpc_service_prealloc_one() allocated one too many calls and rxrpc_discard_prealloc() won't then be able to get rid of them because it'll think the ring is empty. rxrpc_release_calls_on_socket() then tries to abort them, but oopses because call->peer isn't yet set. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/adreno: Assign msm_gpu->pdev earlier to avoid nullptrs There are some cases, such as the one uncovered by Commit 46d4efcccc68 ("drm/msm/a6xx: Avoid a nullptr dereference when speedbin setting fails") where msm_gpu_cleanup() : platform_set_drvdata(gpu->pdev, NULL); is called on gpu->pdev == NULL, as the GPU device has not been fully initialized yet. Turns out that there's more than just the aforementioned path that causes this to happen (e.g. the case when there's speedbin data in the catalog, but opp-supported-hw is missing in DT). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ring-buffer: Check for NULL cpu_buffer in ring_buffer_wake_waiters() On some machines the number of listed CPUs may be bigger than the actual CPUs that exist. The tracing subsystem allocates a per_cpu directory with access to the per CPU ring buffer via a cpuX file. But to save space, the ring buffer will only allocate buffers for online CPUs, even though the CPU array will be as big as the nr_cpu_ids. With the addition of waking waiters on the ring buffer when closing the file, the ring_buffer_wake_waiters() now needs to make sure that the buffer is allocated (with the irq_work allocated with it) before trying to wake waiters, as it will cause a NULL pointer dereference. While debugging this, I added a NULL check for the buffer itself (which is OK to do), and also NULL pointer checks against buffer->buffers (which is not fine, and will WARN) as well as making sure the CPU number passed in is within the nr_cpu_ids (which is also not fine if it isn't). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Add NULL check for function pointer in dcn20_set_output_transfer_func This commit adds a null check for the set_output_gamma function pointer in the dcn20_set_output_transfer_func function. Previously, set_output_gamma was being checked for null at line 1030, but then it was being dereferenced without any null check at line 1048. This could potentially lead to a null pointer dereference error if set_output_gamma is null. To fix this, we now ensure that set_output_gamma is not null before dereferencing it. We do this by adding a null check for set_output_gamma before the call to set_output_gamma at line 1048.

Although PCM_RUNTIME_CHECK calls BUG_ON, it still is useful to perform the the pointer check before card is assigned.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs: Fix missing xas_retry() calls in xarray iteration netfslib has a number of places in which it performs iteration of an xarray whilst being under the RCU read lock. It *should* call xas_retry() as the first thing inside of the loop and do "continue" if it returns true in case the xarray walker passed out a special value indicating that the walk needs to be redone from the root[*]. Fix this by adding the missing retry checks. [*] I wonder if this should be done inside xas_find(), xas_next_node() and suchlike, but I'm told that's not an simple change to effect. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: xsk: prohibit usage of non-balanced queue id Fix the following scenario: 1. ethtool -L $IFACE rx 8 tx 96 2. xdpsock -q 10 -t -z Above refers to a case where user would like to attach XSK socket in txonly mode at a queue id that does not have a corresponding Rx queue. At this moment ice's XSK logic is tightly bound to act on a "queue pair", e.g. both Tx and Rx queues at a given queue id are disabled/enabled and both of them will get XSK pool assigned, which is broken for the presented queue configuration. This results in the splat included at the bottom, which is basically an OOB access to Rx ring array. To fix this, allow using the ids only in scope of "combined" queues reported by ethtool. However, logic should be rewritten to allow such configurations later on, which would end up as a complete rewrite of the control path, so let us go with this temporary fix. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cifs: prevent NULL pointer dereference in UTF16 conversion There can be a NULL pointer dereference bug here. NULL is passed to __cifs_sfu_make_node without checks, which passes it unchecked to cifs_strndup_to_utf16, which in turn passes it to cifs_local_to_utf16_bytes where '*from' is dereferenced, causing a crash. This patch adds a check for NULL 'src' in cifs_strndup_to_utf16 and returns NULL early to prevent dereferencing NULL pointer. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: of_numa: fix uninitialized memory nodes causing kernel panic When there are memory-only nodes (nodes without CPUs), these nodes are not properly initialized, causing kernel panic during boot. of_numa_init of_numa_parse_cpu_nodes node_set(nid, numa_nodes_parsed); of_numa_parse_memory_nodes In of_numa_parse_cpu_nodes, numa_nodes_parsed gets updated only for nodes containing CPUs. Memory-only nodes should have been updated in of_numa_parse_memory_nodes, but they weren't. Subsequently, when free_area_init() attempts to access NODE_DATA() for these uninitialized memory nodes, the kernel panics due to NULL pointer dereference. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vxlan: Fix NPD in {arp,neigh}_reduce() when using nexthop objects When the "proxy" option is enabled on a VXLAN device, the device will suppress ARP requests and IPv6 Neighbor Solicitation messages if it is able to reply on behalf of the remote host. That is, if a matching and valid neighbor entry is configured on the VXLAN device whose MAC address is not behind the "any" remote (0.0.0.0 / ::). The code currently assumes that the FDB entry for the neighbor's MAC address points to a valid remote destination, but this is incorrect if the entry is associated with an FDB nexthop group. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gso: fix udp gso fraglist segmentation after pull from frag_list Detect gso fraglist skbs with corrupted geometry (see below) and pass these to skb_segment instead of skb_segment_list, as the first can segment them correctly. Valid SKB_GSO_FRAGLIST skbs - consist of two or more segments - the head_skb holds the protocol headers plus first gso_size - one or more frag_list skbs hold exactly one segment - all but the last must be gso_size Optional datapath hooks such as NAT and BPF (bpf_skb_pull_data) can modify these skbs, breaking these invariants. In extreme cases they pull all data into skb linear. For UDP, this causes a NULL ptr deref in __udpv4_gso_segment_list_csum at udp_hdr(seg->next)->dest. Detect invalid geometry due to pull, by checking head_skb size. Don't just drop, as this may blackhole a destination. Convert to be able to pass to regular skb_segment.

The panic happens in br_dev_queue_push_xmit() once it receives a corrupted skb with ETH header already pushed in linear data. When it attempts the skb_push() call, there's not enough headroom and skb_push() panics. The corrupted skb is put on the queue by HSR layer, which makes a sequence of unintended transformations when it receives a specific corrupted HSR frame (with incomplete TAG). Fix it by dropping and consuming frames that are not long enough to contain both ethernet and hsr headers. Alternative fix would be to check for enough headroom before skb_push() in br_dev_queue_push_xmit(). In the reproducer, this is injected via AF_PACKET, but I don't easily see why it couldn't be sent over the wire from adjacent network. f2fs: fix dereference of stale list iterator after loop body

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: fix dereference of stale list iterator after loop body The list iterator variable will be a bogus pointer if no break was hit. Dereferencing it (cur->page in this case) could load an out-of-bounds/undefined value making it unsafe to use that in the comparision to determine if the specific element was found. Since 'cur->page' *can* be out-ouf-bounds it cannot be guaranteed that by chance (or intention of an attacker) it matches the value of 'page' even though the correct element was not found. This is fixed by using a separate list iterator variable for the loop and only setting the original variable if a suitable element was found. Then determing if the element was found is simply checking if the variable is set.

vxlan: Fix NPD when refreshing an FDB entry with a nexthop object

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vxlan: Fix NPD when refreshing an FDB entry with a nexthop object VXLAN FDB entries can point to either a remote destination or an FDB nexthop group. The latter is usually used in EVPN deployments where learning is disabled. However, when learning is enabled, an incoming packet might try to refresh an FDB entry that points to an FDB nexthop group and therefore does not have a remote. Such packets should be dropped, but they are only dropped after dereferencing the non-existent remote, resulting in a NPD [1] which can be reproduced using [2]. Fix by dropping such packets earlier. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Add NULL check for function pointer in dcn32_set_output_transfer_func This commit adds a null check for the set_output_gamma function pointer in the dcn32_set_output_transfer_func function. Previously, set_output_gamma was being checked for null, but then it was being dereferenced without any null check. This could lead to a null pointer dereference if set_output_gamma is null. To fix this, we now ensure that set_output_gamma is not null before dereferencing it. We do this by adding a null check for set_output_gamma before the call to set_output_gamma.
