mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix NULL pointer dereference in error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_acl_tcam: Fix NULL pointer dereference in error path When calling mlxsw_sp_acl_tcam_region_destroy() from an error path after failing to attach the region to an ACL group, we hit a NULL pointer dereference upon 'region->group->tcam' [1]. net: netdevsim: don't try to destroy PHC on VFs

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: netdevsim: don't try to destroy PHC on VFs PHC gets initialized in nsim_init_netdevsim(), which is only called if (nsim_dev_port_is_pf()). Create a counterpart of nsim_init_netdevsim() and move the mock_phc_destroy() there. This fixes a crash trying to destroy netdevsim with VFs instantiated, as caught by running the devlink.sh test: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 00000000000000b8 RIP: 0010:mock_phc_destroy+0xd/0x30 Call Trace: <TASK> nsim_destroy+0x4a/0x70 [netdevsim] __nsim_dev_port_del+0x47/0x70 [netdevsim] nsim_dev_reload_destroy+0x105/0x120 [netdevsim] nsim_drv_remove+0x2f/0xb0 [netdevsim] device_release_driver_internal+0x1a1/0x210 bus_remove_device+0xd5/0x120 device_del+0x159/0x490 device_unregister+0x12/0x30 del_device_store+0x11a/0x1a0 [netdevsim] kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x130/0x1d0 vfs_write+0x30b/0x4b0 ksys_write+0x69/0xf0 do_syscall_64+0xcc/0x1e0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x6f/0x77

drm/sched: fix null-ptr-deref in init entity

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/sched: fix null-ptr-deref in init entity The bug can be triggered by sending an amdgpu_cs_wait_ioctl to the AMDGPU DRM driver on any ASICs with valid context. The bug was reported by Joonkyo Jung <joonkyoj@yonsei.ac.kr>. For example the following code: static void Syzkaller2(int fd) { union drm_amdgpu_ctx arg1; union drm_amdgpu_wait_cs arg2; arg1.in.op = AMDGPU_CTX_OP_ALLOC_CTX; ret = drmIoctl(fd, 0x140106442 /* amdgpu_ctx_ioctl */, &arg1); arg2.in.handle = 0x0; arg2.in.timeout = 0x2000000000000; arg2.in.ip_type = AMD_IP_VPE /* 0x9 */; arg2->in.ip_instance = 0x0; arg2.in.ring = 0x0; arg2.in.ctx_id = arg1.out.alloc.ctx_id; drmIoctl(fd, 0xc0206449 /* AMDGPU_WAIT_CS * /, &arg2); } The ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS without previously submitted job could be assumed that the error should be returned, but the following commit 1decbf6bb0b4dc56c9da6c5e57b994ebfc2be3aa modified the logic and allowed to have sched_rq equal to NULL. As a result when there is no job the ioctl AMDGPU_WAIT_CS returns success. The change fixes null-ptr-deref in init entity and the stack below demonstrates the error condition: [ +0.000007] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000028 [ +0.007086] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ +0.005234] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ +0.005232] PGD 0 P4D 0 [ +0.002501] Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN NOPTI [ +0.005034] CPU: 10 PID: 9229 Comm: amd_basic Tainted: G B W L 6.7.0+ #4 [ +0.007797] Hardware name: ASUS System Product Name/ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI), BIOS 1401 12/03/2020 [ +0.009798] RIP: 0010:drm_sched_entity_init+0x2d3/0x420 [gpu_sched] [ +0.006426] Code: 80 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 e8 1a 81 82 e0 49 89 9c 24 c0 00 00 00 4c 89 ef e8 4a 80 82 e0 49 8b 5d 00 48 8d 7b 28 e8 3d 80 82 e0 <48> 83 7b 28 00 0f 84 28 01 00 00 4d 8d ac 24 98 00 00 00 49 8d 5c [ +0.019094] RSP: 0018:ffffc90014c1fa40 EFLAGS: 00010282 [ +0.005237] RAX: 0000000000000001 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: ffffffff8113f3fa [ +0.007326] RDX: fffffbfff0a7889d RSI: 0000000000000008 RDI: ffffffff853c44e0 [ +0.007264] RBP: ffffc90014c1fa80 R08: 0000000000000001 R09: fffffbfff0a7889c [ +0.007266] R10: ffffffff853c44e7 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: ffff8881a719b010 [ +0.007263] R13: ffff88810d412748 R14: 0000000000000002 R15: 0000000000000000 [ +0.007264] FS: 00007ffff7045540(0000) GS:ffff8883cc900000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 [ +0.008236] CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 [ +0.005851] CR2: 0000000000000028 CR3: 000000011912e000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 [ +0.007175] Call Trace: [ +0.002561] <TASK> [ +0.002141] ? show_regs+0x6a/0x80 [ +0.003473] ? __die+0x25/0x70 [ +0.003124] ? page_fault_oops+0x214/0x720 [ +0.004179] ? preempt_count_sub+0x18/0xc0 [ +0.004093] ? __pfx_page_fault_oops+0x10/0x10 [ +0.004590] ? srso_return_thunk+0x5/0x5f [ +0.004000] ? vprintk_default+0x1d/0x30 [ +0.004063] ? srso_return_thunk+0x5/0x5f [ +0.004087] ? vprintk+0x5c/0x90 [ +0.003296] ? drm_sched_entity_init+0x2d3/0x420 [gpu_sched] [ +0.005807] ? srso_return_thunk+0x5/0x5f [ +0.004090] ? _printk+0xb3/0xe0 [ +0.003293] ? __pfx__printk+0x10/0x10 [ +0.003735] ? asm_sysvec_apic_timer_interrupt+0x1b/0x20 [ +0.005482] ? do_user_addr_fault+0x345/0x770 [ +0.004361] ? exc_page_fault+0x64/0xf0 [ +0.003972] ? asm_exc_page_fault+0x27/0x30 [ +0.004271] ? add_taint+0x2a/0xa0 [ +0.003476] ? drm_sched_entity_init+0x2d3/0x420 [gpu_sched] [ +0.005812] amdgpu_ctx_get_entity+0x3f9/0x770 [amdgpu] [ +0.009530] ? finish_task_switch.isra.0+0x129/0x470 [ +0.005068] ? __pfx_amdgpu_ctx_get_entity+0x10/0x10 [amdgpu] [ +0.010063] ? __kasan_check_write+0x14/0x20 [ +0.004356] ? srso_return_thunk+0x5/0x5f [ +0.004001] ? mutex_unlock+0x81/0xd0 [ +0.003802] ? srso_return_thunk+0x5/0x5f [ +0.004096] amdgpu_cs_wait_ioctl+0xf6/0x270 [amdgpu] [ +0.009355] ? __pfx_ ---truncated---

If is_end_zone_blkaddr(sbi, fio->new_blkaddr) of this fio is true, then an NULL pointer dereference error occurs at bio_get(io->bio). The original code for determining zone end was after "out:", which would have missed some fio who is zone end. I've moved this code before "skip:" to make sure it's done for each fio.

dm: call the resume method on internal suspend

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm: call the resume method on internal suspend There is this reported crash when experimenting with the lvm2 testsuite. The list corruption is caused by the fact that the postsuspend and resume methods were not paired correctly; there were two consecutive calls to the origin_postsuspend function. The second call attempts to remove the "hash_list" entry from a list, while it was already removed by the first call. Fix __dm_internal_resume so that it calls the preresume and resume methods of the table's targets. If a preresume method of some target fails, we are in a tricky situation. We can't return an error because dm_internal_resume isn't supposed to return errors. We can't return success, because then the "resume" and "postsuspend" methods would not be paired correctly. So, we set the DMF_SUSPENDED flag and we fake normal suspend - it may confuse userspace tools, but it won't cause a kernel crash. ------------[ cut here ]------------ kernel BUG at lib/list_debug.c:56! invalid opcode: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP CPU: 1 PID: 8343 Comm: dmsetup Not tainted 6.8.0-rc6 #4 Hardware name: QEMU Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996), BIOS 1.14.0-2 04/01/2014 RIP: 0010:__list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 <snip> RSP: 0018:ffff8881b831bcc0 EFLAGS: 00010282 RAX: 000000000000004e RBX: ffff888143b6eb80 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: 0000000000000001 RSI: ffffffff819053d0 RDI: 00000000ffffffff RBP: ffff8881b83a3400 R08: 00000000fffeffff R09: 0000000000000058 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: ffffffff81a24080 R12: 0000000000000001 R13: ffff88814538e000 R14: ffff888143bc6dc0 R15: ffffffffa02e4bb0 FS: 00000000f7c0f780(0000) GS:ffff8893f0a40000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 002b ES: 002b CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000057fb5000 CR3: 0000000143474000 CR4: 00000000000006b0 Call Trace: <TASK> ? die+0x2d/0x80 ? do_trap+0xeb/0xf0 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? do_error_trap+0x60/0x80 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? exc_invalid_op+0x49/0x60 ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 ? asm_exc_invalid_op+0x16/0x20 ? table_deps+0x1b0/0x1b0 [dm_mod] ? __list_del_entry_valid_or_report+0x77/0xc0 origin_postsuspend+0x1a/0x50 [dm_snapshot] dm_table_postsuspend_targets+0x34/0x50 [dm_mod] dm_suspend+0xd8/0xf0 [dm_mod] dev_suspend+0x1f2/0x2f0 [dm_mod] ? table_deps+0x1b0/0x1b0 [dm_mod] ctl_ioctl+0x300/0x5f0 [dm_mod] dm_compat_ctl_ioctl+0x7/0x10 [dm_mod] __x64_compat_sys_ioctl+0x104/0x170 do_syscall_64+0x184/0x1b0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x46/0x4e RIP: 0033:0xf7e6aead <snip> ---[ end trace 0000000000000000 ]---

erofs: fix inconsistent per-file compression format

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: erofs: fix inconsistent per-file compression format EROFS can select compression algorithms on a per-file basis, and each per-file compression algorithm needs to be marked in the on-disk superblock for initialization. However, syzkaller can generate inconsistent crafted images that use an unsupported algorithmtype for specific inodes, e.g. use MicroLZMA algorithmtype even it's not set in `sbi->available_compr_algs`. This can lead to an unexpected "BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference" if the corresponding decompressor isn't built-in. Fix this by checking against `sbi->available_compr_algs` for each m_algorithmformat request. Incorrect !erofs_sb_has_compr_cfgs preset bitmap is now fixed together since it was harmless previously.

ice: fix NULL pointer dereference in ice_reset_all_vfs()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: fix NULL pointer dereference in ice_reset_all_vfs() ice_reset_all_vfs() ignores the return value of ice_vf_rebuild_vsi(). When the VSI rebuild fails (e.g. during NVM firmware update via nvmupdate64e), ice_vsi_rebuild() tears down the VSI on its error path, leaving txq_map and rxq_map as NULL. The subsequent unconditional call to ice_vf_post_vsi_rebuild() leads to a NULL pointer dereference in ice_ena_vf_q_mappings() when it accesses vsi->txq_map[0]. The single-VF reset path in ice_reset_vf() already handles this correctly by checking the return value of ice_vf_reconfig_vsi() and skipping ice_vf_post_vsi_rebuild() on failure. Apply the same pattern to ice_reset_all_vfs(): check the return value of ice_vf_rebuild_vsi() and skip ice_vf_post_vsi_rebuild() and ice_eswitch_attach_vf() on failure. The VF is left safely disabled (ICE_VF_STATE_INIT not set, VFGEN_RSTAT not set to VFACTIVE) and can be recovered via a VFLR triggered by a PCI reset of the VF (sysfs reset or driver rebind). Note that this patch does not prevent the VF VSI rebuild from failing during NVM update — the underlying cause is firmware being in a transitional state while the EMP reset is processed, which can cause Admin Queue commands (ice_add_vsi, ice_cfg_vsi_lan) to fail. This patch only prevents the subsequent NULL pointer dereference that crashes the kernel when the rebuild does fail. crash> bt PID: 50795 TASK: ff34c9ee708dc680 CPU: 1 COMMAND: "kworker/u512:5" #0 [ff72159bcfe5bb50] machine_kexec at ffffffffaa8850ee #1 [ff72159bcfe5bba8] __crash_kexec at ffffffffaaa15fba #2 [ff72159bcfe5bc68] crash_kexec at ffffffffaaa16540 #3 [ff72159bcfe5bc70] oops_end at ffffffffaa837eda #4 [ff72159bcfe5bc90] page_fault_oops at ffffffffaa893997 #5 [ff72159bcfe5bce8] exc_page_fault at ffffffffab528595 #6 [ff72159bcfe5bd10] asm_exc_page_fault at ffffffffab600bb2 [exception RIP: ice_ena_vf_q_mappings+0x79] RIP: ffffffffc0a85b29 RSP: ff72159bcfe5bdc8 RFLAGS: 00010206 RAX: 00000000000f0000 RBX: ff34c9efc9c00000 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: 0000000000000000 RSI: 0000000000000010 RDI: ff34c9efc9c00000 RBP: ff34c9efc27d4828 R8: 0000000000000093 R9: 0000000000000040 R10: ff34c9efc27d4828 R11: 0000000000000040 R12: 0000000000100000 R13: 0000000000000010 R14: R15: ORIG_RAX: ffffffffffffffff CS: 0010 SS: 0018 #7 [ff72159bcfe5bdf8] ice_sriov_post_vsi_rebuild at ffffffffc0a85e2e [ice] #8 [ff72159bcfe5be08] ice_reset_all_vfs at ffffffffc0a920b4 [ice] #9 [ff72159bcfe5be48] ice_service_task at ffffffffc0a31519 [ice] #10 [ff72159bcfe5be88] process_one_work at ffffffffaa93dca4 #11 [ff72159bcfe5bec8] worker_thread at ffffffffaa93e9de #12 [ff72159bcfe5bf18] kthread at ffffffffaa946663 #13 [ff72159bcfe5bf50] ret_from_fork at ffffffffaa8086b9 The panic occurs attempting to dereference the NULL pointer in RDX at ice_sriov.c:294, which loads vsi->txq_map (offset 0x4b8 in ice_vsi). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ARM: 9170/1: fix panic when kasan and kprobe are enabled arm32 uses software to simulate the instruction replaced by kprobe. some instructions may be simulated by constructing assembly functions. therefore, before executing instruction simulation, it is necessary to construct assembly function execution environment in C language through binding registers. after kasan is enabled, the register binding relationship will be destroyed, resulting in instruction simulation errors and causing kernel panic. the kprobe emulate instruction function is distributed in three files: actions-common.c actions-arm.c actions-thumb.c, so disable KASAN when compiling these files. for example, use kprobe insert on cap_capable+20 after kasan enabled, the cap_capable assembly code is as follows: <cap_capable>: e92d47f0 push {r4, r5, r6, r7, r8, r9, sl, lr} e1a05000 mov r5, r0 e280006c add r0, r0, #108 ; 0x6c e1a04001 mov r4, r1 e1a06002 mov r6, r2 e59fa090 ldr sl, [pc, #144] ; ebfc7bf8 bl c03aa4b4 <__asan_load4> e595706c ldr r7, [r5, #108] ; 0x6c e2859014 add r9, r5, #20 ...... net: atm: fix crash due to unvalidated vcc pointer in sigd_send()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: atm: fix crash due to unvalidated vcc pointer in sigd_send() Reproducer available at [1]. The ATM send path (sendmsg -> vcc_sendmsg -> sigd_send) reads the vcc pointer from msg->vcc and uses it directly without any validation. This pointer comes from userspace via sendmsg() and can be arbitrarily forged: int fd = socket(AF_ATMSVC, SOCK_DGRAM, 0); ioctl(fd, ATMSIGD_CTRL); // become ATM signaling daemon struct msghdr msg = { .msg_iov = &iov, ... }; *(unsigned long *)(buf + 4) = 0xdeadbeef; // fake vcc pointer sendmsg(fd, &msg, 0); // kernel dereferences 0xdeadbeef In normal operation, the kernel sends the vcc pointer to the signaling daemon via sigd_enq() when processing operations like connect(), bind(), or listen(). The daemon is expected to return the same pointer when responding. However, a malicious daemon can send arbitrary pointer values. Fix this by introducing find_get_vcc() which validates the pointer by searching through vcc_hash (similar to how sigd_close() iterates over all VCCs), and acquires a reference via sock_hold() if found. Since struct atm_vcc embeds struct sock as its first member, they share the same lifetime. Therefore using sock_hold/sock_put is sufficient to keep the vcc alive while it is being used. Note that there may be a race with sigd_close() which could mark the vcc with various flags (e.g., ATM_VF_RELEASED) after find_get_vcc() returns. However, sock_hold() guarantees the memory remains valid, so this race only affects the logical state, not memory safety. [1]: https://gist.github.com/mrpre/1ba5949c45529c511152e2f4c755b0f3

mm/migrate: fix shmem xarray update during migration

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/migrate: fix shmem xarray update during migration A shmem folio can be either in page cache or in swap cache, but not at the same time. Namely, once it is in swap cache, folio->mapping should be NULL, and the folio is no longer in a shmem mapping. In __folio_migrate_mapping(), to determine the number of xarray entries to update, folio_test_swapbacked() is used, but that conflates shmem in page cache case and shmem in swap cache case. It leads to xarray multi-index entry corruption, since it turns a sibling entry to a normal entry during xas_store() (see [1] for a userspace reproduction). Fix it by only using folio_test_swapcache() to determine whether xarray is storing swap cache entries or not to choose the right number of xarray entries to update. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-mm/Z8idPCkaJW1IChjT@casper.infradead.org/ Note: In __split_huge_page(), folio_test_anon() && folio_test_swapcache() is used to get swap_cache address space, but that ignores the shmem folio in swap cache case. It could lead to NULL pointer dereferencing when a in-swap-cache shmem folio is split at __xa_store(), since !folio_test_anon() is true and folio->mapping is NULL. But fortunately, its caller split_huge_page_to_list_to_order() bails out early with EBUSY when folio->mapping is NULL. So no need to take care of it here.

x86/fpu: Ensure shadow stack is active before "getting" registers

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/fpu: Ensure shadow stack is active before "getting" registers The x86 shadow stack support has its own set of registers. Those registers are XSAVE-managed, but they are "supervisor state components" which means that userspace can not touch them with XSAVE/XRSTOR. It also means that they are not accessible from the existing ptrace ABI for XSAVE state. Thus, there is a new ptrace get/set interface for it. The regset code that ptrace uses provides an ->active() handler in addition to the get/set ones. For shadow stack this ->active() handler verifies that shadow stack is enabled via the ARCH_SHSTK_SHSTK bit in the thread struct. The ->active() handler is checked from some call sites of the regset get/set handlers, but not the ptrace ones. This was not understood when shadow stack support was put in place. As a result, both the set/get handlers can be called with XFEATURE_CET_USER in its init state, which would cause get_xsave_addr() to return NULL and trigger a WARN_ON(). The ssp_set() handler luckily has an ssp_active() check to avoid surprising the kernel with shadow stack behavior when the kernel is not ready for it (ARCH_SHSTK_SHSTK==0). That check just happened to avoid the warning. But the ->get() side wasn't so lucky. It can be called with shadow stacks disabled, triggering the warning in practice, as reported by Christina Schimpe: WARNING: CPU: 5 PID: 1773 at arch/x86/kernel/fpu/regset.c:198 ssp_get+0x89/0xa0 [...] Call Trace: <TASK> ? show_regs+0x6e/0x80 ? ssp_get+0x89/0xa0 ? __warn+0x91/0x150 ? ssp_get+0x89/0xa0 ? report_bug+0x19d/0x1b0 ? handle_bug+0x46/0x80 ? exc_invalid_op+0x1d/0x80 ? asm_exc_invalid_op+0x1f/0x30 ? __pfx_ssp_get+0x10/0x10 ? ssp_get+0x89/0xa0 ? ssp_get+0x52/0xa0 __regset_get+0xad/0xf0 copy_regset_to_user+0x52/0xc0 ptrace_regset+0x119/0x140 ptrace_request+0x13c/0x850 ? wait_task_inactive+0x142/0x1d0 ? do_syscall_64+0x6d/0x90 arch_ptrace+0x102/0x300 [...] Ensure that shadow stacks are active in a thread before looking them up in the XSAVE buffer. Since ARCH_SHSTK_SHSTK and user_ssp[SHSTK_EN] are set at the same time, the active check ensures that there will be something to find in the XSAVE buffer. [ dhansen: changelog/subject tweaks ]

iommu/arm-smmu: Use the correct type in nvidia_smmu_context_fault()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/arm-smmu: Use the correct type in nvidia_smmu_context_fault() This was missed because of the function pointer indirection. nvidia_smmu_context_fault() is also installed as a irq function, and the 'void *' was changed to a struct arm_smmu_domain. Since the iommu_domain is embedded at a non-zero offset this causes nvidia_smmu_context_fault() to miscompute the offset. Fixup the types. bpf, sockmap: Fix af_unix null-ptr-deref in proto update

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf, sockmap: Fix af_unix null-ptr-deref in proto update unix_stream_connect() sets sk_state (`WRITE_ONCE(sk->sk_state, TCP_ESTABLISHED)`) _before_ it assigns a peer (`unix_peer(sk) = newsk`). sk_state == TCP_ESTABLISHED makes sock_map_sk_state_allowed() believe that socket is properly set up, which would include having a defined peer. IOW, there's a window when unix_stream_bpf_update_proto() can be called on socket which still has unix_peer(sk) == NULL. CPU0 bpf CPU1 connect -------- ------------ WRITE_ONCE(sk->sk_state, TCP_ESTABLISHED) sock_map_sk_state_allowed(sk) ... sk_pair = unix_peer(sk) sock_hold(sk_pair) sock_hold(newsk) smp_mb__after_atomic() unix_peer(sk) = newsk BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000080 RIP: 0010:unix_stream_bpf_update_proto+0xa0/0x1b0 Call Trace: sock_map_link+0x564/0x8b0 sock_map_update_common+0x6e/0x340 sock_map_update_elem_sys+0x17d/0x240 __sys_bpf+0x26db/0x3250 __x64_sys_bpf+0x21/0x30 do_syscall_64+0x6b/0x3a0 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e Initial idea was to move peer assignment _before_ the sk_state update[1], but that involved an additional memory barrier, and changing the hot path was rejected. Then a NULL check during proto update in unix_stream_bpf_update_proto() was considered[2], but the follow-up discussion[3] focused on the root cause, i.e. sockmap update taking a wrong lock. Or, more specifically, missing unix_state_lock()[4]. In the end it was concluded that teaching sockmap about the af_unix locking would be unnecessarily complex[5]. Complexity aside, since BPF_PROG_TYPE_SCHED_CLS and BPF_PROG_TYPE_SCHED_ACT are allowed to update sockmaps, sock_map_update_elem() taking the unix lock, as it is currently implemented in unix_state_lock(): spin_lock(&unix_sk(s)->lock), would be problematic. unix_state_lock() taken in a process context, followed by a softirq-context TC BPF program attempting to take the same spinlock -- deadlock[6]. This way we circled back to the peer check idea[2]. net/rds: fix possible cp null dereference

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/rds: fix possible cp null dereference cp might be null, calling cp->cp_conn would produce null dereference [Simon Horman adds:] Analysis: * cp is a parameter of __rds_rdma_map and is not reassigned. * The following call-sites pass a NULL cp argument to __rds_rdma_map() - rds_get_mr() - rds_get_mr_for_dest * Prior to the code above, the following assumes that cp may be NULL (which is indicative, but could itself be unnecessary) trans_private = rs->rs_transport->get_mr( sg, nents, rs, &mr->r_key, cp ? cp->cp_conn : NULL, args->vec.addr, args->vec.bytes, need_odp ? ODP_ZEROBASED : ODP_NOT_NEEDED); * The code modified by this patch is guarded by IS_ERR(trans_private), where trans_private is assigned as per the previous point in this analysis. The only implementation of get_mr that I could locate is rds_ib_get_mr() which can return an ERR_PTR if the conn (4th) argument is NULL. * ret is set to PTR_ERR(trans_private). rds_ib_get_mr can return ERR_PTR(-ENODEV) if the conn (4th) argument is NULL. Thus ret may be -ENODEV in which case the code in question will execute. Conclusion: * cp may be NULL at the point where this patch adds a check; this patch does seem to address a possible bug

fs/ntfs3: Keep write operations atomic

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: Keep write operations atomic syzbot reported a NULL pointer dereference in __generic_file_write_iter. [1] Before the write operation is completed, the user executes ioctl[2] to clear the compress flag of the file, which causes the is_compressed() judgment to return 0, further causing the program to enter the wrong process and call the wrong ops ntfs_aops_cmpr, which triggers the null pointer dereference of write_begin. Use inode lock to synchronize ioctl and write to avoid this case. KEYS: prevent NULL pointer dereference in find_asymmetric_key()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KEYS: prevent NULL pointer dereference in find_asymmetric_key() In find_asymmetric_key(), if all NULLs are passed in the id_{0,1,2} arguments, the kernel will first emit WARN but then have an oops because id_2 gets dereferenced anyway. Add the missing id_2 check and move WARN_ON() to the final else branch to avoid duplicate NULL checks. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with Svace static analysis tool.
