In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-fabrics: use reserved tag for reg read/write command In some scenarios, if too many commands are issued by nvme command in the same time by user tasks, this may exhaust all tags of admin_q. If a reset (nvme reset or IO timeout) occurs before these commands finish, reconnect routine may fail to update nvme regs due to insufficient tags, which will cause kernel hang forever. In order to workaround this issue, maybe we can let reg_read32()/reg_read64()/reg_write32() use reserved tags. This maybe safe for nvmf: 1. For the disable ctrl path, we will not issue connect command 2. For the enable ctrl / fw activate path, since connect and reg_xx() are called serially. So the reserved tags may still be enough while reg_xx() use reserved tags.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: bdisp: Add missing check for create_workqueue Add the check for the return value of the create_workqueue in order to avoid NULL pointer dereference.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: bridge: mst: pass vlan group directly to br_mst_vlan_set_state Pass the already obtained vlan group pointer to br_mst_vlan_set_state() instead of dereferencing it again. Each caller has already correctly dereferenced it for their context. This change is required for the following suspicious RCU dereference fix. No functional changes intended.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix NULL pointer dereference in ocfs2_journal_dirty() bdev->bd_super has been removed and commit 8887b94d9322 change the usage from bdev->bd_super to b_assoc_map->host->i_sb. This introduces the following NULL pointer dereference in ocfs2_journal_dirty() since b_assoc_map is still not initialized. This can be easily reproduced by running xfstests generic/186, which simulate no more credits. [ 134.351592] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 ... In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: cx23885: Fix a null-ptr-deref bug in buffer_prepare() and buffer_finish() When the driver calls cx23885_risc_buffer() to prepare the buffer, the function call dma_alloc_coherent may fail, resulting in a empty buffer risc->cpu. Later when we free the buffer or access the buffer, null ptr deref is triggered. This bug is similar to the following one: https://git.linuxtv.org/media_stage.git/commit/?id=2b064d91440b33fba5b452f2d1b31f13ae911d71. We believe the bug can be also dynamically triggered from user side. Similarly, we fix this by checking the return value of cx23885_risc_buffer() and the value of risc->cpu before buffer free.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: fiemap page fault fix In gfs2_fiemap(), we are calling iomap_fiemap() while holding the inode glock. This can lead to recursive glock taking if the fiemap buffer is memory mapped to the same inode and accessing it triggers a page fault. Fix by disabling page faults for iomap_fiemap() and faulting in the buffer by hand if necessary. Fixes xfstest generic/742.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/i915/dpt: Treat the DPT BO as a framebuffer Currently i915_gem_object_is_framebuffer() doesn't treat the BO containing the framebuffer's DPT as a framebuffer itself. This means eg. that the shrinker can evict the DPT BO while leaving the actual FB BO bound, when the DPT is allocated from regular shmem. That causes an immediate oops during hibernate as we try to rewrite the PTEs inside the already evicted DPT obj. TODO: presumably this might also be the reason for the DPT related display faults under heavy memory pressure, but I'm still not sure how that would happen as the object should be pinned by intel_dpt_pin() while in active use by the display engine... In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pwm: lpc32xx: Remove handling of PWM channels Because LPC32xx PWM controllers have only a single output which is registered as the only PWM device/channel per controller, it is known in advance that pwm->hwpwm value is always 0. On basis of this fact simplify the code by removing operations with pwm->hwpwm, there is no controls which require channel number as input. Even though I wasn't aware at the time when I forward ported that patch, this fixes a null pointer dereference as lpc32xx->chip.pwms is NULL before devm_pwmchip_add() is called.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/ntfs3: don't hold ni_lock when calling truncate_setsize() syzbot is reporting hung task at do_user_addr_fault() [1], for there is a silent deadlock between PG_locked bit and ni_lock lock. Since filemap_update_page() calls filemap_read_folio() after calling folio_trylock() which will set PG_locked bit, ntfs_truncate() must not call truncate_setsize() which will wait for PG_locked bit to be cleared when holding ni_lock lock.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: virtio-blk: fix implicit overflow on virtio_max_dma_size The following codes have an implicit conversion from size_t to u32: (u32)max_size = (size_t)virtio_max_dma_size(vdev); This may lead overflow, Ex (size_t)4G -> (u32)0. Once virtio_max_dma_size() has a larger size than U32_MAX, use U32_MAX instead.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/bnxt_re: wraparound mbox producer index Driver is not handling the wraparound of the mbox producer index correctly. Currently the wraparound happens once u32 max is reached. Bit 31 of the producer index register is special and should be set only once for the first command. Because the producer index overflow setting bit31 after a long time, FW goes to initialization sequence and this causes FW hang. Fix is to wraparound the mbox producer index once it reaches u16 max.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: core: Fix duplicate endpoint bug by clearing reserved bits in the descriptor Syzbot has identified a bug in usbcore (see the Closes: tag below) caused by our assumption that the reserved bits in an endpoint descriptor's bEndpointAddress field will always be 0. As a result of the bug, the endpoint_is_duplicate() routine in config.c (and possibly other routines as well) may believe that two descriptors are for distinct endpoints, even though they have the same direction and endpoint number. This can lead to confusion, including the bug identified by syzbot (two descriptors with matching endpoint numbers and directions, where one was interrupt and the other was bulk). To fix the bug, we will clear the reserved bits in bEndpointAddress when we parse the descriptor. (Note that both the USB-2.0 and USB-3.1 specs say these bits are "Reserved, reset to zero".) This requires us to make a copy of the descriptor earlier in usb_parse_endpoint() and use the copy instead of the original when checking for duplicates.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ibmvnic: Add tx check to prevent skb leak Below is a summary of how the driver stores a reference to an skb during transmit: tx_buff[free_map[consumer_index]]->skb = new_skb; free_map[consumer_index] = IBMVNIC_INVALID_MAP; consumer_index ++; Where variable data looks like this: free_map == [4, IBMVNIC_INVALID_MAP, IBMVNIC_INVALID_MAP, 0, 3] consumer_index^ tx_buff == [skb=null, skb=<ptr>, skb=<ptr>, skb=null, skb=null] The driver has checks to ensure that free_map[consumer_index] pointed to a valid index but there was no check to ensure that this index pointed to an unused/null skb address. So, if, by some chance, our free_map and tx_buff lists become out of sync then we were previously risking an skb memory leak. This could then cause tcp congestion control to stop sending packets, eventually leading to ETIMEDOUT. Therefore, add a conditional to ensure that the skb address is null. If not then warn the user (because this is still a bug that should be patched) and free the old pointer to prevent memleak/tcp problems.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/rxe: Fix incomplete state save in rxe_requester If a send packet is dropped by the IP layer in rxe_requester() the call to rxe_xmit_packet() can fail with err == -EAGAIN. To recover, the state of the wqe is restored to the state before the packet was sent so it can be resent. However, the routines that save and restore the state miss a significnt part of the variable state in the wqe, the dma struct which is used to process through the sge table. And, the state is not saved before the packet is built which modifies the dma struct. Under heavy stress testing with many QPs on a fast node sending large messages to a slow node dropped packets are observed and the resent packets are corrupted because the dma struct was not restored. This patch fixes this behavior and allows the test cases to succeed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: imx: clk-imx8mn: fix memory leak in imx8mn_clocks_probe Use devm_of_iomap() instead of of_iomap() to automatically handle the unused ioremap region. If any error occurs, regions allocated by kzalloc() will leak, but using devm_kzalloc() instead will automatically free the memory using devm_kfree().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: genirq/ipi: Fix NULL pointer deref in irq_data_get_affinity_mask() If ipi_send_{mask|single}() is called with an invalid interrupt number, all the local variables there will be NULL. ipi_send_verify() which is invoked from these functions does verify its 'data' parameter, resulting in a kernel oops in irq_data_get_affinity_mask() as the passed NULL pointer gets dereferenced. Add a missing NULL pointer check in ipi_send_verify()... Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with the SVACE static analysis tool.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xsk: Add missing overflow check in xdp_umem_reg The number of chunks can overflow u32. Make sure to return -EINVAL on overflow. Also remove a redundant u32 cast assigning umem->npgs.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: caif: fix memory leak in cfctrl_linkup_request() When linktype is unknown or kzalloc failed in cfctrl_linkup_request(), pkt is not released. Add release process to error path.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: imon: fix access to invalid resource for the second interface imon driver probes two USB interfaces, and at the probe of the second interface, the driver assumes blindly that the first interface got bound with the same imon driver. It's usually true, but it's still possible that the first interface is bound with another driver via a malformed descriptor. Then it may lead to a memory corruption, as spotted by syzkaller; imon driver accesses the data from drvdata as struct imon_context object although it's a completely different one that was assigned by another driver. This patch adds a sanity check -- whether the first interface is really bound with the imon driver or not -- for avoiding the problem above at the probe time.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/ttm: fix bulk_move corruption when adding a entry When the resource is the first in the bulk_move range, adding it again (thus moving it to the tail) will corrupt the list since the first pointer is not moved. This eventually lead to null pointer deref in ttm_lru_bulk_move_del()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bus: mhi: host: Range check CHDBOFF and ERDBOFF If the value read from the CHDBOFF and ERDBOFF registers is outside the range of the MHI register space then an invalid address might be computed which later causes a kernel panic. Range check the read value to prevent a crash due to bad data from the device.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: Revert "scsi: core: Do not increase scsi_device's iorequest_cnt if dispatch failed" The "atomic_inc(&cmd->device->iorequest_cnt)" in scsi_queue_rq() would cause kernel panic because cmd->device may be freed after returning from scsi_dispatch_cmd(). This reverts commit cfee29ffb45b1c9798011b19d454637d1b0fe87d.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: libfc: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference in fc_lport_ptp_setup() fc_lport_ptp_setup() did not check the return value of fc_rport_create() which can return NULL and would cause a NULL pointer dereference. Address this issue by checking return value of fc_rport_create() and log error message on fc_rport_create() failed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: fix a NULL pointer dereference in amdgpu_dm_i2c_xfer() When ddc_service_construct() is called, it explicitly checks both the link type and whether there is something on the link which will dictate whether the pin is marked as hw_supported. If the pin isn't set or the link is not set (such as from unloading/reloading amdgpu in an IGT test) then fail the amdgpu_dm_i2c_xfer() call.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix amdgpu_irq_put call trace in gmc_v10_0_hw_fini The gmc.ecc_irq is enabled by firmware per IFWI setting, and the host driver is not privileged to enable/disable the interrupt. So, it is meaningless to use the amdgpu_irq_put function in gmc_v10_0_hw_fini, which also leads to the call trace. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Check writeback connectors in create_validate_stream_for_sink [WHY & HOW] This is to check connector type to avoid unhandled null pointer for writeback connectors.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: reject invalid reloc tree root keys with stack dump [BUG] Syzbot reported a crash that an ASSERT() got triggered inside prepare_to_merge(). That ASSERT() makes sure the reloc tree is properly pointed back by its subvolume tree. [CAUSE] After more debugging output, it turns out we had an invalid reloc tree: BTRFS error (device loop1): reloc tree mismatch, root 8 has no reloc root, expect reloc root key (-8, 132, 8) gen 17 Note the above root key is (TREE_RELOC_OBJECTID, ROOT_ITEM, QUOTA_TREE_OBJECTID), meaning it's a reloc tree for quota tree. But reloc trees can only exist for subvolumes, as for non-subvolume trees, we just COW the involved tree block, no need to create a reloc tree since those tree blocks won't be shared with other trees. Only subvolumes tree can share tree blocks with other trees (thus they have BTRFS_ROOT_SHAREABLE flag). Thus this new debug output proves my previous assumption that corrupted on-disk data can trigger that ASSERT(). [FIX] Besides the dedicated fix and the graceful exit, also let tree-checker to check such root keys, to make sure reloc trees can only exist for subvolumes.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/ionic: Fix potential NULL pointer dereference in ionic_query_port The function ionic_query_port() calls ib_device_get_netdev() without checking the return value which could lead to NULL pointer dereference, Fix it by checking the return value and return -ENODEV if the 'ndev' is NULL.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: fix to drop meta_inode's page cache in f2fs_put_super() syzbot reports a kernel bug as below: F2FS-fs (loop1): detect filesystem reference count leak during umount, type: 10, count: 1 kernel BUG at fs/f2fs/super.c:1639! The root case is, during f2fs_put_super(), if there is any IO error in f2fs_wait_on_all_pages(), we missed to truncate meta_inode's page cache later, result in panic, fix this case.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: spi: imx: Don't skip cleanup in remove's error path Returning early in a platform driver's remove callback is wrong. In this case the dma resources are not released in the error path. this is never retried later and so this is a permanent leak. To fix this, only skip hardware disabling if waking the device fails.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: modpost: fix off by one in is_executable_section() The > comparison should be >= to prevent an out of bounds array access.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfsd: don't replace page in rq_pages if it's a continuation of last page The splice read calls nfsd_splice_actor to put the pages containing file data into the svc_rqst->rq_pages array. It's possible however to get a splice result that only has a partial page at the end, if (e.g.) the filesystem hands back a short read that doesn't cover the whole page. nfsd_splice_actor will plop the partial page into its rq_pages array and return. Then later, when nfsd_splice_actor is called again, the remainder of the page may end up being filled out. At this point, nfsd_splice_actor will put the page into the array _again_ corrupting the reply. If this is done enough times, rq_next_page will overrun the array and corrupt the trailing fields -- the rq_respages and rq_next_page pointers themselves. If we've already added the page to the array in the last pass, don't add it to the array a second time when dealing with a splice continuation. This was originally handled properly in nfsd_splice_actor, but commit 91e23b1c3982 ("NFSD: Clean up nfsd_splice_actor()") removed the check for it.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: wwan: iosm: fix NULL pointer dereference when removing device In suspend and resume cycle, the removal and rescan of device ends up in NULL pointer dereference. During driver initialization, if the ipc_imem_wwan_channel_init() fails to get the valid device capabilities it returns an error and further no resource (wwan struct) will be allocated. Now in this situation if driver removal procedure is initiated it would result in NULL pointer exception since unallocated wwan struct is dereferenced inside ipc_wwan_deinit(). ipc_imem_run_state_worker() to handle the called functions return value and to release the resource in failure case. It also reports the link down event in failure cases. The user space application can handle this event to do a device reset for restoring the device communication.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: scrub: handle RST lookup error correctly [BUG] When running btrfs/060 with forced RST feature, it would crash the following ASSERT() inside scrub_read_endio(): ASSERT(sector_nr < stripe->nr_sectors); Before that, we would have tree dump from btrfs_get_raid_extent_offset(), as we failed to find the RST entry for the range. [CAUSE] Inside scrub_submit_extent_sector_read() every time we allocated a new bbio we immediately called btrfs_map_block() to make sure there was some RST range covering the scrub target. But if btrfs_map_block() fails, we immediately call endio for the bbio, while the bbio is newly allocated, it's completely empty. Then inside scrub_read_endio(), we go through the bvecs to find the sector number (as bi_sector is no longer reliable if the bio is submitted to lower layers). And since the bio is empty, such bvecs iteration would not find any sector matching the sector, and return sector_nr == stripe->nr_sectors, triggering the ASSERT(). [FIX] Instead of calling btrfs_map_block() after allocating a new bbio, call btrfs_map_block() first. Since our only objective of calling btrfs_map_block() is only to update stripe_len, there is really no need to do that after btrfs_alloc_bio(). This new timing would avoid the problem of handling empty bbio completely, and in fact fixes a possible race window for the old code, where if the submission thread is the only owner of the pending_io, the scrub would never finish (since we didn't decrease the pending_io counter). Although the root cause of RST lookup failure still needs to be addressed.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: IB/hfi1: Restore allocated resources on failed copyout Fix a resource leak if an error occurs.
