Fides Webserver Authentication Timing-Based Username Enumeration Vulnerability

Fides is an open-source privacy engineering platform. Prior to version 2.44.0, a timing-based username enumeration vulnerability exists in Fides Webserver authentication. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to determine the existence of valid usernames by analyzing the time it takes for the server to respond to login requests. The discrepancy in response times between valid and invalid usernames can be leveraged to enumerate users on the system. This vulnerability enables a timing-based username enumeration attack. An attacker can systematically guess and verify which usernames are valid by measuring the server's response time to authentication requests. This information can be used to conduct further attacks on authentication such as password brute-forcing and credential stuffing. The vulnerability has been patched in Fides version `2.44.0`. Users are advised to upgrade to this version or later to secure their systems against this threat. There are no workarounds.

Fides Information Disclosure Vulnerability in Privacy Center of SERVER_SIDE_FIDES_API_URL

Fides is an open-source privacy engineering platform, and `SERVER_SIDE_FIDES_API_URL` is a server-side configuration environment variable used by the Fides Privacy Center to communicate with the Fides webserver backend. The value of this variable is a URL which typically includes a private IP address, private domain name, and/or port. A vulnerability present starting in version 2.19.0 and prior to version 2.39.2rc0 allows an unauthenticated attacker to make a HTTP GET request from the Privacy Center that discloses the value of this server-side URL. This could result in disclosure of server-side configuration giving an attacker information on server-side ports, private IP addresses, and/or private domain names. The vulnerability has been patched in Fides version 2.39.2rc0. No known workarounds are available.

The ability to enumerate users was possible without relevant permissions due to different handling depending on whether the user existed or not when attempting to use the switch users functionality. Cisco Firepower 1000 Series Bleichenbacher Attack Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the TLS handler of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software for Cisco Firepower 1000 Series firewalls could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information. The vulnerability is due to improper implementation of countermeasures against the Bleichenbacher attack for cipher suites that rely on RSA for key exchange. SSH server timing side-channel in ssh_auth:check_password/3 allows unauthenticated username enumeration

Observable Timing Discrepancy vulnerability in Erlang/OTP ssh (ssh_auth, ssh_options modules) allows unauthenticated remote username enumeration via timing side-channel in password authentication. When the SSH daemon is configured with the user_passwords or password option, ssh_auth:check_password/3 performs a PBKDF2-SHA256 computation with 600,000 iterations (~300ms) for valid usernames, but returns immediately (~0ms) for invalid usernames via the ssh_options:get_password_option/2 path. This timing difference is detectable in a single authentication attempt and allows an unauthenticated attacker to distinguish valid from invalid usernames. The user_passwords and password options are documented as intended for test purposes; the recommended alternative is pwdfun, which is not affected by this vulnerability. This vulnerability is associated with program files lib/ssh/src/ssh_auth.erl and lib/ssh/src/ssh_options.erl. This issue affects OTP from OTP 29.0 before 29.0.2 corresponding to ssh from 6.0 before 6.0.1.

Time-based user enumeration in TREK authentication endpoint

TREK is a collaborative travel planner. Prior to 3.0.18, early return on missing user during login flow allowed an attacker to enumerate valid user accounts via response timing discrepancy. When an email address existed in the database, the backend performed a bcrypt password comparison before returning a 401 Unauthorized, adding ~370 ms of latency. When the email did not exist, the backend returned immediately (~10 ms). This ~14× timing difference could be detected without any difference in HTTP status codes or response bodies. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.0.18.

An issue was discovered in AvertX Auto focus Night Vision HD Indoor/Outdoor IP Dome Camera HD838 and Night Vision HD Indoor/Outdoor Mini IP Bullet Camera HD438. Failed web UI login attempts elicit different responses depending on whether a user account exists. Because the responses indicate whether a submitted username is valid or not, they make it easier to identify legitimate usernames. If a login request is sent to ISAPI/Security/sessionLogin/capabilities using a username that exists, it will return the value of the salt given to that username, even if the password is incorrect. However, if a login request is sent using a username that is not present in the database, it will return an empty salt value. This allows attackers to enumerate legitimate usernames, facilitating brute-force attacks. NOTE: this is different from CVE-2020-7057.

4ga Boards: User Enumeration via Timing Side-Channel in Authentication Endpoint

4ga Boards is a boards system for realtime project management. Prior to 3.3.5, 4ga Boards is vulnerable to user enumeration via a timing side-channel in the login endpoint (POST /api/access-tokens). When an invalid username/email is provided, the server responds immediately (~17ms average). When a valid username/email is provided with an incorrect password, the server first performs a bcrypt.compareSync() operation (~74ms average) before responding. This ~4.4× timing difference is trivially detectable even over a network — a single request suffices. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.3.5.

ZITADEL user enumeration vulnerability in login UI

The open-source identity infrastructure software Zitadel allows administrators to disable the user self-registration. Versions 4.0.0 to 4.0.2, 3.0.0 to 3.3.6, and all versions prior to 2.71.15 are vulnerable to a username enumeration issue in the login interface. The login UI includes a security feature, Ignoring unknown usernames, that is intended to prevent username enumeration by returning a generic response for both valid and invalid usernames. This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass this protection by submitting arbitrary userIDs to the select account page and distinguishing between valid and invalid accounts based on the system's response. For effective exploitation, an attacker needs to iterate through possible userIDs, but the impact can be limited by implementing rate limiting or similar measures. The issue has been patched in versions 4.0.3, 3.4.0, and 2.71.15.

Kanboard vulnerable to Username Enumeration via Login Behavior and Bruteforce Protection Bypass

Kanboard is project management software that focuses on the Kanban methodology. Prior to version 1.2.46, Kanboard is vulnerable to username enumeration and IP spoofing-based brute-force protection bypass. By analyzing login behavior and abusing trusted HTTP headers, an attacker can determine valid usernames and circumvent rate-limiting or blocking mechanisms. Any organization running a publicly accessible Kanboard instance is affected, especially if relying on IP-based protections like Fail2Ban or CAPTCHA for login rate-limiting. Attackers with access to the login page can exploit this flaw to enumerate valid usernames and bypass IP-based blocking mechanisms, putting all user accounts at higher risk of brute-force or credential stuffing attacks. Version 1.2.46 contains a patch for the issue.

Parse Server: Protected field change detection oracle via LiveQuery watch parameter

Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. Prior to versions 8.6.54 and 9.6.0-alpha.43, an attacker can subscribe to LiveQuery with a watch parameter targeting a protected field. Although the protected field value is properly stripped from event payloads, the presence or absence of update events reveals whether the protected field changed, creating a binary oracle. For boolean protected fields, the timing of change events is equivalent to knowing the field value. This issue has been patched in versions 8.6.54 and 9.6.0-alpha.43.

Prior to versions 2026.3.0-latest.1, 2026.2.1, and 2026.1.2, unauthenticated users can determine whether a specific user is a member of a private group by observing changes in directory results when using the `exclude_groups` parameter. Versions 2026.3.0-latest.1, 2026.2.1, and 2026.1.2 contain a patch. As a workaround, disable public access to the user directory via Admin → Settings → hide user profiles from public.
