iio: adc: ti-ads1119: fix information leak in triggered buffer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: adc: ti-ads1119: fix information leak in triggered buffer The 'scan' local struct is used to push data to user space from a triggered buffer, but it has a hole between the sample (unsigned int) and the timestamp. This hole is never initialized. Initialize the struct to zero before using it to avoid pushing uninitialized information to userspace.

rcu: Fix buffer overflow in print_cpu_stall_info()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rcu: Fix buffer overflow in print_cpu_stall_info() The rcuc-starvation output from print_cpu_stall_info() might overflow the buffer if there is a huge difference in jiffies difference. The situation might seem improbable, but computers sometimes get very confused about time, which can result in full-sized integers, and, in this case, buffer overflow. Also, the unsigned jiffies difference is printed using %ld, which is normally for signed integers. This is intentional for debugging purposes, but it is not obvious from the code. This commit therefore changes sprintf() to snprintf() and adds a clarifying comment about intention of %ld format. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

tty: serial: qcom-geni-serial: fix slab-out-of-bounds on RX FIFO buffer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: serial: qcom-geni-serial: fix slab-out-of-bounds on RX FIFO buffer Driver's probe allocates memory for RX FIFO (port->rx_fifo) based on default RX FIFO depth, e.g. 16. Later during serial startup the qcom_geni_serial_port_setup() updates the RX FIFO depth (port->rx_fifo_depth) to match real device capabilities, e.g. to 32. The RX UART handle code will read "port->rx_fifo_depth" number of words into "port->rx_fifo" buffer, thus exceeding the bounds. This can be observed in certain configurations with Qualcomm Bluetooth HCI UART device and KASAN: Bluetooth: hci0: QCA Product ID :0x00000010 Bluetooth: hci0: QCA SOC Version :0x400a0200 Bluetooth: hci0: QCA ROM Version :0x00000200 Bluetooth: hci0: QCA Patch Version:0x00000d2b Bluetooth: hci0: QCA controller version 0x02000200 Bluetooth: hci0: QCA Downloading qca/htbtfw20.tlv bluetooth hci0: Direct firmware load for qca/htbtfw20.tlv failed with error -2 Bluetooth: hci0: QCA Failed to request file: qca/htbtfw20.tlv (-2) Bluetooth: hci0: QCA Failed to download patch (-2) ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in handle_rx_uart+0xa8/0x18c Write of size 4 at addr ffff279347d578c0 by task swapper/0/0 CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper/0 Not tainted 6.1.0-rt5-00350-gb2450b7e00be-dirty #26 Hardware name: Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. An issue was discovered in Ruby 2.5.x through 2.5.7, 2.6.x through 2.6.5, and 2.7.0. If a victim calls BasicSocket#read_nonblock(requested_size, buffer, exception: false), the method resizes the buffer to fit the requested size, but no data is copied. Thus, the buffer string provides the previous value of the heap. This may expose possibly sensitive data from the interpreter.

A flaw was found in vDPA with VDUSE backend. There are currently no checks in VDUSE kernel driver to ensure the size of the device config space is in line with the features advertised by the VDUSE userspace application. In case of a mismatch, Virtio drivers config read helpers do not initialize the memory indirectly passed to vduse_vdpa_get_config() returning uninitialized memory from the stack. This could cause undefined behavior or data leaks in Virtio drivers.

fs/9p: fix uninitialized values during inode evict

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/9p: fix uninitialized values during inode evict If an iget fails due to not being able to retrieve information from the server then the inode structure is only partially initialized. When the inode gets evicted, references to uninitialized structures (like fscache cookies) were being made. This patch checks for a bad_inode before doing anything other than clearing the inode from the cache. Since the inode is bad, it shouldn't have any state associated with it that needs to be written back (and there really isn't a way to complete those anyways).

media: v4l2-core: explicitly clear ioctl input data

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: v4l2-core: explicitly clear ioctl input data As seen from a recent syzbot bug report, mistakes in the compat ioctl implementation can lead to uninitialized kernel stack data getting used as input for driver ioctl handlers. The reported bug is now fixed, but it's possible that other related bugs are still present or get added in the future. As the drivers need to check user input already, the possible impact is fairly low, but it might still cause an information leak. To be on the safe side, always clear the entire ioctl buffer before calling the conversion handler functions that are meant to initialize them.

media: mxl111sf: change mutex_init() location

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: mxl111sf: change mutex_init() location Syzbot reported, that mxl111sf_ctrl_msg() uses uninitialized mutex. The problem was in wrong mutex_init() location. Previous mutex_init(&state->msg_lock) call was in ->init() function, but dvb_usbv2_init() has this order of calls: dvb_usbv2_init() dvb_usbv2_adapter_init() dvb_usbv2_adapter_frontend_init() props->frontend_attach() props->init() Since mxl111sf_* devices call mxl111sf_ctrl_msg() in ->frontend_attach() internally we need to initialize state->msg_lock before frontend_attach(). To achieve it, ->probe() call added to all mxl111sf_* devices, which will simply initiaize mutex.

net: hns3: put off calling register_netdev() until client initialize complete

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: hns3: put off calling register_netdev() until client initialize complete Currently, the netdevice is registered before client initializing complete. So there is a timewindow between netdevice available and usable. In this case, if user try to change the channel number or ring param, it may cause the hns3_set_rx_cpu_rmap() being called twice, and report bug. net: zero-initialize tc skb extension on allocation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: zero-initialize tc skb extension on allocation Function skb_ext_add() doesn't initialize created skb extension with any value and leaves it up to the user. However, since extension of type TC_SKB_EXT originally contained only single value tc_skb_ext->chain its users used to just assign the chain value without setting whole extension memory to zero first. This assumption changed when TC_SKB_EXT extension was extended with additional fields but not all users were updated to initialize the new fields which leads to use of uninitialized memory afterwards. netlink: Fix kernel-infoleak-after-free in __skb_datagram_iter

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netlink: Fix kernel-infoleak-after-free in __skb_datagram_iter syzbot reported the following uninit-value access issue [1]: netlink_to_full_skb() creates a new `skb` and puts the `skb->data` passed as a 1st arg of netlink_to_full_skb() onto new `skb`. The data size is specified as `len` and passed to skb_put_data(). This `len` is based on `skb->end` that is not data offset but buffer offset. The `skb->end` contains data and tailroom. Since the tailroom is not initialized when the new `skb` created, KMSAN detects uninitialized memory area when copying the data. This patch resolved this issue by correct the len from `skb->end` to `skb->len`, which is the actual data offset. crypto: qat - ADF_STATUS_PF_RUNNING should be set after adf_dev_init

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: qat - ADF_STATUS_PF_RUNNING should be set after adf_dev_init ADF_STATUS_PF_RUNNING is (only) used and checked by adf_vf2pf_shutdown() before calling adf_iov_putmsg()->mutex_lock(vf2pf_lock), however the vf2pf_lock is initialized in adf_dev_init(), which can fail and when it fail, the vf2pf_lock is either not initialized or destroyed, a subsequent use of vf2pf_lock will cause issue. ipv4: Fix uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipv4: Fix uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb() KMSAN reported uninit-value access in __ip_make_skb() [1]. __ip_make_skb() tests HDRINCL to know if the skb has icmphdr. However, HDRINCL can cause a race condition. If calling setsockopt(2) with IP_HDRINCL changes HDRINCL while __ip_make_skb() is running, the function will access icmphdr in the skb even if it is not included. This causes the issue reported by KMSAN. Check FLOWI_FLAG_KNOWN_NH on fl4->flowi4_flags instead of testing HDRINCL on the socket. Also, fl4->fl4_icmp_type and fl4->fl4_icmp_code are not initialized. These are union in struct flowi4 and are implicitly initialized by flowi4_init_output(), but we should not rely on specific union layout. Initialize these explicitly in raw_sendmsg(). The Linux kernel 2.6.0 through 2.6.30.4, and 2.4.4 through 2.4.37.4, does not initialize all function pointers for socket operations in proto_ops structures, which allows local users to trigger a NULL pointer dereference and gain privileges by using mmap to map page zero, placing arbitrary code on this page, and then invoking an unavailable operation, as demonstrated by the sendpage operation (sock_sendpage function) on a PF_PPPOX socket.

If a link name which is not null-terminated is passed through netlink, strstr() and similar functions can cause buffer overrun. This causes the above issue. This patch changes the nla_policy for bearer-related names from NLA_STRING to NLA_NUL_STRING. This resolves the issue by ensuring that only null-terminated strings are accepted as bearer-related names. syzbot reported similar uninit-value issue related to bearer names [2]. The root cause of this issue is that a non-null-terminated bearer name was passed. This patch also resolved this issue.

BTRFS: error (device vdc: state EA) in cleanup_transaction:2055: errno=-2 No such entry This happens because create_pending_snapshot() initializes the new root item as a copy of the source root item. This includes the refs field, which is 0 for a deleted subvolume. The call to btrfs_insert_root() therefore inserts a root with refs == 0. btrfs_get_new_fs_root() then finds the root and returns -ENOENT if refs == 0, which causes create_pending_snapshot() to abort. Fix it by checking the source root's refs before attempting the snapshot, but after locking subvol_sem to avoid racing with deletion.

fork: defer linking file vma until vma is fully initialized

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fork: defer linking file vma until vma is fully initialized Thorvald reported a WARNING [1]. And the root cause is below race: CPU 1 CPU 2 fork hugetlbfs_fallocate dup_mmap hugetlbfs_punch_hole i_mmap_lock_write(mapping); vma_interval_tree_insert_after -- Child vma is visible through i_mmap tree. i_mmap_unlock_write(mapping); hugetlb_dup_vma_private -- Clear vma_lock outside i_mmap_rwsem! i_mmap_lock_write(mapping); hugetlb_vmdelete_list vma_interval_tree_foreach hugetlb_vma_trylock_write -- Vma_lock is cleared. tmp->vm_ops->open -- Alloc new vma_lock outside i_mmap_rwsem! hugetlb_vma_unlock_write -- Vma_lock is assigned!!! i_mmap_unlock_write(mapping); hugetlb_dup_vma_private() and hugetlb_vm_op_open() are called outside i_mmap_rwsem lock while vma lock can be used in the same time. cpumap: Zero-initialise xdp_rxq_info struct before running XDP program

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cpumap: Zero-initialise xdp_rxq_info struct before running XDP program When running an XDP program that is attached to a cpumap entry, we don't initialise the xdp_rxq_info data structure being used in the xdp_buff that backs the XDP program invocation. Tobias noticed that this leads to random values being returned as the xdp_md->rx_queue_index value for XDP programs running in a cpumap. This means we're basically returning the contents of the uninitialised memory, which is bad. Fix this by zero-initialising the rxq data structure before running the XDP program.

KMSAN: uninit-value in mpol_rebind_mm (2) https://syzkaller.appspot.com/bug?id=f2fecd0d7013f54ec4162f60743a2b28df40926b The uninit-value is pol->w.cpuset_mems_allowed in mpol_rebind_policy(). When syzkaller reproducer runs to the beginning of mpol_new(), mpol_new() mm/mempolicy.c do_mbind() mm/mempolicy.c kernel_mbind() mm/mempolicy.c `mode` is 1(MPOL_PREFERRED), nodes_empty(*nodes) is `true` and `flags` is 0. Then mode = MPOL_LOCAL; ... policy->mode = mode; policy->flags = flags; will be executed. So in mpol_set_nodemask(), mpol_set_nodemask() mm/mempolicy.c do_mbind() kernel_mbind() pol->mode is 4 (MPOL_LOCAL), that `nodemask` in `pol` is not initialized, which will be accessed in mpol_rebind_policy().
