A vulnerability has been found in Scooter Software Beyond Compare up to 3.3.5.15075 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality in the library 7zxa.dll. The manipulation leads to uncontrolled search path. Attacking locally is a requirement. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vendor explains that a system must be breached before exploiting this issue. They are not planning on making any changes to address it.
A vulnerability in the London Trust Media Private Internet Access (PIA) VPN Client v82 for macOS could allow an authenticated, local attacker to run arbitrary code with elevated privileges. The openvpn_launcher binary is setuid root. This program is called during the connection process and executes several operating system utilities to configure the system. The networksetup utility is called using relative paths. A local unprivileged user can execute arbitrary commands as root by creating a networksetup trojan which will be executed during the connection process. This is possible because the PATH environment variable is not reset prior to executing the OS utility.
DLL hijacking in the management console of Ivanti Workspace Control before version 2025.2 (10.19.0.0) allows a local authenticated attacker to escalate their privileges.
Cato Networks Windows SDP Client Local Privilege Escalation via self-upgradeThis issue affects SDP Client: before 5.10.34.
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Intelbras InControl 2.21.56. This vulnerability affects unknown code of the component incontrolWebcam Service. The manipulation leads to unquoted search path. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. Upgrading to version 2.21.58 is able to address this issue. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure and plans to provide a solution within the next few weeks.
An untrusted search path vulnerability in B&R APROL <= R 4.4-00P3 may be used by an authenticated local attacker to get other users to execute arbitrary code under their privileges.
Excessive binary privileges in Ivanti Connect Secure before version 22.7R2.3 (Not Applicable to 9.1Rx) and Ivanti Policy Secure before version 22.7R1.2 (Not Applicable to 9.1Rx) allows a local authenticated attacker to escalate privileges.
JetBrains Rider before 2019.1.2 was using an unsigned JetBrains.Rider.Unity.Editor.Plugin.Repacked.dll file.
Philips IntelliSpace Portal all versions of 8.0.x, and 7.0.x have an unquoted search path or element vulnerability that has been identified, which may allow an authorized local user to execute arbitrary code and escalate their level of privileges.
IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows (includes DB2 Connect Server) 9.7, 10.1, 10.5, and 11.1 binaries load shared libraries from an untrusted path potentially giving low privilege user full access to the DB2 instance account by loading a malicious shared library. IBM X-Force ID: 149640.
An issue was discovered in the Keybase command-line client before 2.8.0-20181023124437 for Linux. An untrusted search path vulnerability in the keybase-redirector application allows a local, unprivileged user on Linux to gain root privileges via a Trojan horse binary.
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Intelbras InControl up to 2.21.56. This affects an unknown part of the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Intelbras\Incontrol Cliente\incontrol_webcam\incontrol-service-watchdog.exe. The manipulation leads to unquoted search path. It is possible to launch the attack on the local host. Upgrading to version 2.21.58 is able to address this issue. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. The vendor was informed early on 2024-08-05 about this issue. The release of a fixed version 2.21.58 was announced for the end of August 2024 but then was postponed until 2024-09-20.
In PaperStream IP (TWAIN) 1.42.0.5685 (Service Update 7), the FJTWSVIC service running with SYSTEM privilege processes unauthenticated messages received over the FjtwMkic_Fjicube_32 named pipe. One of these message processing functions attempts to dynamically load the UninOldIS.dll library and executes an exported function named ChangeUninstallString. The default install does not contain this library and therefore if any DLL with that name exists in any directory listed in the PATH variable, it can be used to escalate to SYSTEM level privilege.
IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows (includes DB2 Connect Server) 9.7, 10.1, 10.5 and 11.1 binaries load shared libraries from an untrusted path potentially giving low privilege users full access to the DB2 instance account by loading a malicious shared library. IBM X-Force ID: 140972.

A flaw was found in ansible. ansible.cfg is read from the current working directory which can be altered to make it point to a plugin or a module path under the control of an attacker, thus allowing the attacker to execute arbitrary code.
ESTsoft ALZip before 10.76 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via creating a malicious .DLL file and installing it in a specific directory: %PROGRAMFILES%\ESTsoft\ALZip\Formats, %PROGRAMFILES%\ESTsoft\ALZip\Coders, %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\ESTsoft\ALZip\Formats, or %PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\ESTsoft\ALZip\Coders.
The sudo helper in the HashiCorp Vagrant VMware Fusion plugin (aka vagrant-vmware-fusion) before 4.0.21 allows local users to gain root privileges by leveraging failure to verify the path to the encoded ruby script or scrub the PATH variable.
A vulnerability in the build procedure for certain executable system files installed at boot time on Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) devices could allow an authenticated, local attacker to gain root-level privileges. The vulnerability is due to a custom executable system file that was built to use relative search paths for libraries without properly validating the library to be loaded. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to the device and loading a malicious library that can escalate the privilege level. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain root-level privileges and take full control of the device. The attacker must have valid user credentials to log in to the device. Cisco Bug IDs: CSCvc96087. Known Affected Releases: 1.1(0.920a), 1.1(1j), 1.1(3f); 1.2 Base, 1.2(2), 1.2(3), 1.2.2; 1.3(1), 1.3(2), 1.3(2f); 2.0 Base, 2.0(1).
