October is a Content Management System (CMS) and web platform. Versions prior to 3.7.14 and 4.1.10 contain a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Backend Editor Settings. The Markup Classes fields (used for paragraph styles, inline styles, table styles, etc.) did not sanitize input to valid CSS class name characters. Malicious values were rendered unsanitized in Froala editor dropdown menus, allowing JavaScript execution when any user opened a RichEditor. Exploitation could lead to privilege escalation if a superuser opens any RichEditor during routine content editing (e.g., editing a blog post), and requires authenticated backend access with editor settings permissions. This issue has been fixed in versions 3.7.14 and 4.1.10. To workaround this issue, restrict editor settings permissions to fully trusted administrators only

An authenticated attacker can upload an SVG file containing a malicious payload, which will be executed when a victim clicks the link associated with the uploaded image. In version 5.9.0-rc7 clicking the link associated with the uploaded image doesn't execute malicious code but directly accessing the file will still execute the embedded payload. The vendor was notified early about this vulnerability, but didn't respond with the details of vulnerability or vulnerable version range. The device is also vulnerable to a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that may allow session hijacking, disclosure of sensitive data, cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks, and remote code execution.
A vulnerability in the web-based interface of the Cisco Registered Envelope Service could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against another user of the service. The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the web-based interface of the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending an email with a malicious payload to another user. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected interface or access sensitive, browser-based information. This allows access to sensitive client-side data such as localStorage tokens and cookies, resulting in client-side injection. This issue has been fixed in version 1.0.9.
Horilla is a free and open source Human Resource Management System (HRMS). In version 1.4.0, the has_xss() function attempts to block XSS by matching input against a set of regex patterns. However, the regexes are incomplete and context-agnostic, making them easy to bypass.
