soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number On MSM8916 devices, the serial number exposed in sysfs is constant and does not change across individual devices. It's always: db410c:/sys/devices/soc0$ cat serial_number 2644893864 The firmware used on MSM8916 exposes SOCINFO_VERSION(0, 8), which does not have support for the serial_num field in the socinfo struct. There is an existing check to avoid exposing the serial number in that case, but it's not correct: When checking the item_size returned by SMEM, we need to make sure the *end* of the serial_num is within bounds, instead of comparing with the *start* offset. The serial_number currently exposed on MSM8916 devices is just an out of bounds read of whatever comes after the socinfo struct in SMEM. Fix this by changing offsetof() to offsetofend(), so that the size of the field is also taken into account.

binder: fix OOB in binder_add_freeze_work()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: binder: fix OOB in binder_add_freeze_work() In binder_add_freeze_work() we iterate over the proc->nodes with the proc->inner_lock held. However, this lock is temporarily dropped to acquire the node->lock first (lock nesting order). This can race with binder_deferred_release() which removes the nodes from the proc->nodes rbtree and adds them into binder_dead_nodes list. This leads to a broken iteration in binder_add_freeze_work() as rb_next() will use data from binder_dead_nodes, triggering an out-of-bounds access: ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in rb_next+0xfc/0x124 Read of size 8 at addr ffffcb84285f7170 by task freeze/660 CPU: 8 UID: 0 PID: 660 Comm: freeze Not tainted 6.11.0-07343-ga727812a8d45 #18 Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) Call trace: rb_next+0xfc/0x124 binder_add_freeze_work+0x344/0x534 binder_ioctl+0x1e70/0x25ac __arm64_sys_ioctl+0x124/0x190 The buggy address belongs to the variable: binder_dead_nodes+0x10/0x40 [...] ================================================================== This is possible because proc->nodes (rbtree) and binder_dead_nodes (list) share entries in binder_node through a union: struct binder_node { [...] union { struct rb_node rb_node; struct hlist_node dead_node; }; Fix the race by checking that the proc is still alive. If not, simply break out of the iteration.

It can be reproduced by following these steps(more details [1]): 1. Obtain more than 32 inputs that have similar hashes, which ends with the pattern '0xxxxxxxe6'. 2. Reboot and add the keys obtained in step 1. The reproducer demonstrates how this issue happened: 1. In the search_nested_keyrings function, when it iterates through the slots in a node(below tag ascend_to_node), if the slot pointer is meta and node->back_pointer != NULL(it means a root), it will proceed to descend_to_node. However, there is an exception. If node is the root, and one of the slots points to a shortcut, it will be treated as a keyring. 2. Whether the ptr is keyring decided by keyring_ptr_is_keyring function. However, KEYRING_PTR_SUBTYPE is 0x2UL, the same as ASSOC_ARRAY_PTR_SUBTYPE_MASK. 3. When 32 keys with the similar hashes are added to the tree, the ROOT has keys with hashes that are not similar (e.g. slot 0) and it splits NODE A without using a shortcut. When NODE A is filled with keys that all hashes are xxe6, the keys are similar, NODE A will split with a shortcut. Finally, it forms the tree as shown below, where slot 6 points to a shortcut. NODE A +------>+---+ ROOT | | 0 | xxe6 +---+ | +---+ xxxx | 0 | shortcut : : xxe6 +---+ | +---+ xxe6 : : | | | xxe6 +---+ | +---+ | 6 |---+ : : xxe6 +---+ +---+ xxe6 : : | f | xxe6 +---+ +---+ xxe6 | f | +---+ 4. As mentioned above, If a slot(slot 6) of the root points to a shortcut, it may be mistakenly transferred to a key*, leading to a read out-of-bounds read. To fix this issue, one should jump to descend_to_node if the ptr is a shortcut, regardless of whether the node is root or not. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm cache: fix potential out-of-bounds access on the first resume Out-of-bounds access occurs if the fast device is expanded unexpectedly before the first-time resume of the cache table. This happens because expanding the fast device requires reloading the cache table for cache_create to allocate new in-core data structures that fit the new size, and the check in cache_preresume is not performed during the first resume, leading to the issue. Reproduce steps: 1. prepare component devices: dmsetup create cmeta --table "0 8192 linear /dev/sdc 0" dmsetup create cdata --table "0 65536 linear /dev/sdc 8192" dmsetup create corig --table "0 524288 linear /dev/sdc 262144" dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mapper/cmeta bs=4k count=1 oflag=direct 2. load a cache table of 512 cache blocks, and deliberately expand the fast device before resuming the cache, making the in-core data structures inadequate. dmsetup create cache --notable dmsetup reload cache --table "0 524288 cache /dev/mapper/cmeta \ /dev/mapper/cdata /dev/mapper/corig 128 2 metadata2 writethrough smq 0" dmsetup reload cdata --table "0 131072 linear /dev/sdc 8192" dmsetup resume cdata dmsetup resume cache 3. suspend the cache to write out the in-core dirty bitset and hint array, leading to out-of-bounds access to the dirty bitset at offset 0x40: dmsetup suspend cache KASAN reports: BUG: KASAN: vmalloc-out-of-bounds in is_dirty_callback+0x2b/0x80 Read of size 8 at addr ffffc90000085040 by task dmsetup/90 (...snip...) jfs: fix out-of-bounds in dbNextAG() and diAlloc()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jfs: fix out-of-bounds in dbNextAG() and diAlloc() In dbNextAG() , there is no check for the case where bmp->db_numag is greater or same than MAXAG due to a polluted image, which causes an out-of-bounds. Therefore, a bounds check should be added in dbMount(). And in dbNextAG(), a check for the case where agpref is greater than bmp->db_numag should be added, so an out-of-bounds exception should be prevented. Additionally, a check for the case where agno is greater or same than MAXAG should be added in diAlloc() to prevent out-of-bounds.

Then, in the following call graph: ip_do_fragment() ip_skb_dst_mtu() ip_dst_mtu_maybe_forward() ip_mtu_locked() the pointer to struct dst_entry is used as pointer to struct rtable: this turns the access to struct members like rt_mtu_locked into an OOB read in the stack. Fix this changing the temporary variable used for IPv4 packets in ovs_fragment(), similarly to what is done for IPv6 few lines below.

media: pci: ivtv: Add check for DMA map result

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: pci: ivtv: Add check for DMA map result In case DMA fails, 'dma->SG_length' is 0. This value is later used to access 'dma->SGarray[dma->SG_length - 1]', which will cause out of bounds access. Add check to return early on invalid value. Adjust warnings accordingly. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

NFS: fs_context: validate UDP retrans to prevent shift out-of-bounds

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFS: fs_context: validate UDP retrans to prevent shift out-of-bounds Fix shift out-of-bounds in xprt_calc_majortimeo(). This is caused by a garbage timeout (retrans) mount option being passed to nfs mount, in this case from syzkaller. If the protocol is XPRT_TRANSPORT_UDP, then 'retrans' is a shift value for a 64-bit long integer, so 'retrans' cannot be >= 64. If it is >= 64, fail the mount and return an error.

wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential shift-out-of-bounds in brcmf_fw_alloc_request()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Fix potential shift-out-of-bounds in brcmf_fw_alloc_request() This patch fixes a shift-out-of-bounds in brcmfmac that occurs in BIT(chiprev) when a 'chiprev' provided by the device is too large. It should also not be equal to or greater than BITS_PER_TYPE(u32) as we do bitwise AND with a u32 variable and BIT(chiprev). The patch adds a check that makes the function return NULL if that is the case. Note that the NULL case is later handled by the bus-specific caller, brcmf_usb_probe_cb() or brcmf_usb_reset_resume(), for example. Found by a modified version of syzkaller. sched, cpuset: Fix dl_cpu_busy() panic due to empty cs->cpus_allowed

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched, cpuset: Fix dl_cpu_busy() panic due to empty cs->cpus_allowed With cgroup v2, the cpuset's cpus_allowed mask can be empty indicating that the cpuset will just use the effective CPUs of its parent. So cpuset_can_attach() can call task_can_attach() with an empty mask. This can lead to cpumask_any_and() returns nr_cpu_ids causing the call to dl_bw_of() to crash due to percpu value access of an out of bound CPU value. For example: [80468.182258] BUG: unable to handle page fault for address: ffffffff8b6648b0 : [80468.191019] RIP: 0010:dl_cpu_busy+0x30/0x2b0 : [80468.207946] Call Trace: [80468.208947] cpuset_can_attach+0xa0/0x140 [80468.209953] cgroup_migrate_execute+0x8c/0x490 [80468.210931] cgroup_update_dfl_csses+0x254/0x270 [80468.211898] cgroup_subtree_control_write+0x322/0x400 [80468.212854] kernfs_fop_write_iter+0x11c/0x1b0 [80468.213777] new_sync_write+0x11f/0x1b0 [80468.214689] vfs_write+0x1eb/0x280 [80468.215592] ksys_write+0x5f/0xe0 [80468.216463] do_syscall_64+0x5c/0x80 [80468.224287] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae Fix that by using effective_cpus instead. For cgroup v1, effective_cpus is the same as cpus_allowed. For v2, effective_cpus is the real cpumask to be used by tasks within the cpuset anyway. Also update task_can_attach()'s 2nd argument name to cs_effective_cpus to reflect the change. In addition, a check is added to task_can_attach() to guard against the possibility that cpumask_any_and() may return a value >= nr_cpu_ids.

tracing: Fix reading strings from synthetic events

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tracing: Fix reading strings from synthetic events The follow commands caused a crash: # cd /sys/kernel/tracing # echo 's:open char file[]' > dynamic_events # echo 'hist:keys=common_pid:file=filename:onchange($file).trace(open,$file)' > events/syscalls/sys_enter_openat/trigger' # echo 1 > events/synthetic/open/enable BOOM! The problem is that the synthetic event field "char file[]" will read the value given to it as a string without any memory checks to make sure the address is valid. The above example will pass in the user space address and the sythetic event code will happily call strlen() on it and then strscpy() where either one will cause an oops when accessing user space addresses. Use the helper functions from trace_kprobe and trace_eprobe that can read strings safely (and actually succeed when the address is from user space and the memory is mapped in). Now the above can show: packagekitd-1721 [000] ...2. 104.597170: open: file=/usr/lib/rpm/fileattrs/cmake.attr in:imjournal-978 [006] ...2. 104.599642: open: file=/var/lib/rsyslog/imjournal.state.tmp packagekitd-1721 [000] ...2. 104.626308: open: file=/usr/lib/rpm/fileattrs/debuginfo.attr

As the register is known const scalar, really just use the concrete reg->var_off.value for the upper index check.

s390/cio: fix out-of-bounds access on cio_ignore free

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/cio: fix out-of-bounds access on cio_ignore free The channel-subsystem-driver scans for newly available devices whenever device-IDs are removed from the cio_ignore list using a command such as: echo free >/proc/cio_ignore Since an I/O device scan might interfer with running I/Os, commit 172da89ed0ea ("s390/cio: avoid excessive path-verification requests") introduced an optimization to exclude online devices from the scan. The newly added check for online devices incorrectly assumes that an I/O-subchannel's drvdata points to a struct io_subchannel_private. For devices that are bound to a non-default I/O subchannel driver, such as the vfio_ccw driver, this results in an out-of-bounds read access during each scan. Fix this by changing the scan logic to rely on a driver-independent online indication. For this we can use struct subchannel->config.ena, which is the driver's requested subchannel-enabled state. Since I/Os can only be started on enabled subchannels, this matches the intent of the original optimization of not scanning devices where I/O might be running.

Under certain conditions (for example, when ACPI NUMA is disabled via command line), pxm_to_node() can return %NUMA_NO_NODE (-1). It is valid 'magic' number of NUMA node, but not valid bit number to use in bitops. node_online() eventually descends to test_bit() without checking for the input, assuming it's on caller side (which might be good for perf-critical tasks). There, -1 becomes %ULONG_MAX which leads to an insane array index when calculating bit position in memory. For now, add an explicit check for @node being not %NUMA_NO_NODE before calling test_bit(). The actual logics didn't change here at all. [0] https://github.com/norov/linux/commit/0e862838f290147ea9c16db852d8d494b552d38d

xfs: don't walk off the end of a directory data block

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: don't walk off the end of a directory data block This adds sanity checks for xfs_dir2_data_unused and xfs_dir2_data_entry to make sure don't stray beyond valid memory region. Before patching, the loop simply checks that the start offset of the dup and dep is within the range. So in a crafted image, if last entry is xfs_dir2_data_unused, we can change dup->length to dup->length-1 and leave 1 byte of space. In the next traversal, this space will be considered as dup or dep. We may encounter an out of bound read when accessing the fixed members. In the patch, we make sure that the remaining bytes large enough to hold an unused entry before accessing xfs_dir2_data_unused and xfs_dir2_data_unused is XFS_DIR2_DATA_ALIGN byte aligned. We also make sure that the remaining bytes large enough to hold a dirent with a single-byte name before accessing xfs_dir2_data_entry.

wifi: brcmfmac: Check the count value of channel spec to prevent out-of-bounds reads

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: Check the count value of channel spec to prevent out-of-bounds reads This patch fixes slab-out-of-bounds reads in brcmfmac that occur in brcmf_construct_chaninfo() and brcmf_enable_bw40_2g() when the count value of channel specifications provided by the device is greater than the length of 'list->element[]', decided by the size of the 'list' allocated with kzalloc(). dlm: fix plock invalid read

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dlm: fix plock invalid read This patch fixes an invalid read showed by KASAN. A unlock will allocate a "struct plock_op" and a followed send_op() will append it to a global send_list data structure. In some cases a followed dev_read() moves it to recv_list and dev_write() will cast it to "struct plock_xop" and access fields which are only available in those structures. At this point an invalid read happens by accessing those fields. To fix this issue the "callback" field is moved to "struct plock_op" to indicate that a cast to "plock_xop" is allowed and does the additional "plock_xop" handling if set. Example of the KASAN output which showed the invalid read: [ 2064.296453] ================================================================== [ 2064.304852] BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in dev_write+0x52b/0x5a0 [dlm] [ 2064.306491] Read of size 8 at addr ffff88800ef227d8 by task dlm_controld/7484 [ 2064.308168] [ 2064.308575] CPU: 0 PID: 7484 Comm: dlm_controld Kdump: loaded Not tainted 5.14.0+ #9 [ 2064.310292] Hardware name: Red Hat KVM, BIOS 0.5.1 01/01/2011 [ 2064.311618] Call Trace: [ 2064.312218] dump_stack_lvl+0x56/0x7b [ 2064.313150] print_address_description.constprop.8+0x21/0x150 [ 2064.314578] ? dev_write+0x52b/0x5a0 [dlm] [ 2064.315610] ? dev_write+0x52b/0x5a0 [dlm] [ 2064.316595] kasan_report.cold.14+0x7f/0x11b [ 2064.317674] ? dev_write+0x52b/0x5a0 [dlm] [ 2064.318687] dev_write+0x52b/0x5a0 [dlm] [ 2064.319629] ? dev_read+0x4a0/0x4a0 [dlm] [ 2064.320713] ? bpf_lsm_kernfs_init_security+0x10/0x10 [ 2064.321926] vfs_write+0x17e/0x930 [ 2064.322769] ? __fget_light+0x1aa/0x220 [ 2064.323753] ksys_write+0xf1/0x1c0 [ 2064.324548] ? __ia32_sys_read+0xb0/0xb0 [ 2064.325464] do_syscall_64+0x3a/0x80 [ 2064.326387] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae [ 2064.327606] RIP: 0033:0x7f807e4ba96f [ 2064.328470] Code: 89 54 24 18 48 89 74 24 10 89 7c 24 08 e8 39 87 f8 ff 48 8b 54 24 18 48 8b 74 24 10 41 89 c0 8b 7c 24 08 b8 01 00 00 00 0f 05 <48> 3d 00 f0 ff ff 77 31 44 89 c7 48 89 44 24 08 e8 7c 87 f8 ff 48 [ 2064.332902] RSP: 002b:00007ffd50cfe6e0 EFLAGS: 00000293 ORIG_RAX: 0000000000000001 [ 2064.334658] RAX: ffffffffffffffda RBX: 000055cc3886eb30 RCX: 00007f807e4ba96f [ 2064.336275] RDX: 0000000000000040 RSI: 00007ffd50cfe7e0 RDI: 0000000000000010 [ 2064.337980] RBP: 00007ffd50cfe7e0 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000001 [ 2064.339560] R10: 000055cc3886eb30 R11: 0000000000000293 R12: 000055cc3886eb80 [ 2064.341237] R13: 000055cc3886eb00 R14: 000055cc3886f590 R15: 0000000000000001 [ 2064.342857] [ 2064.343226] Allocated by task 12438: [ 2064.344057] kasan_save_stack+0x1c/0x40 [ 2064.345079] __kasan_kmalloc+0x84/0xa0 [ 2064.345933] kmem_cache_alloc_trace+0x13b/0x220 [ 2064.346953] dlm_posix_unlock+0xec/0x720 [dlm] [ 2064.348811] do_lock_file_wait.part.32+0xca/0x1d0 [ 2064.351070] fcntl_setlk+0x281/0xbc0 [ 2064.352879] do_fcntl+0x5e4/0xfe0 [ 2064.354657] __x64_sys_fcntl+0x11f/0x170 [ 2064.356550] do_syscall_64+0x3a/0x80 [ 2064.358259] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae [ 2064.360745] [ 2064.361511] Last potentially related work creation: [ 2064.363957] kasan_save_stack+0x1c/0x40 [ 2064.365811] __kasan_record_aux_stack+0xaf/0xc0 [ 2064.368100] call_rcu+0x11b/0xf70 [ 2064.369785] dlm_process_incoming_buffer+0x47d/0xfd0 [dlm] [ 2064.372404] receive_from_sock+0x290/0x770 [dlm] [ 2064.374607] process_recv_sockets+0x32/0x40 [dlm] [ 2064.377290] process_one_work+0x9a8/0x16e0 [ 2064.379357] worker_thread+0x87/0xbf0 [ 2064.381188] kthread+0x3ac/0x490 [ 2064.383460] ret_from_fork+0x22/0x30 [ 2064.385588] [ 2064.386518] Second to last potentially related work creation: [ 2064.389219] kasan_save_stack+0x1c/0x40 [ 2064.391043] __kasan_record_aux_stack+0xaf/0xc0 [ 2064.393303] call_rcu+0x11b/0xf70 [ 2064.394885] dlm_process_incoming_buffer+0x47d/0xfd0 [dlm] [ 2064.397694] receive_from_sock+0x290/0x770 ---truncated---

exfat: check if cluster num is valid

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: exfat: check if cluster num is valid Syzbot reported slab-out-of-bounds read in exfat_clear_bitmap. This was triggered by reproducer calling truncute with size 0, which causes the following trace: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in exfat_clear_bitmap+0x147/0x490 fs/exfat/balloc.c:174 Read of size 8 at addr ffff888115aa9508 by task syz-executor251/365 Call Trace: __dump_stack lib/dump_stack.c:77 [inline] dump_stack_lvl+0x1e2/0x24b lib/dump_stack.c:118 print_address_description+0x81/0x3c0 mm/kasan/report.c:233 __kasan_report mm/kasan/report.c:419 [inline] kasan_report+0x1a4/0x1f0 mm/kasan/report.c:436 __asan_report_load8_noabort+0x14/0x20 mm/kasan/report_generic.c:309 exfat_clear_bitmap+0x147/0x490 fs/exfat/balloc.c:174 exfat_free_cluster+0x25a/0x4a0 fs/exfat/fatent.c:181 __exfat_truncate+0x99e/0xe00 fs/exfat/file.c:217 exfat_truncate+0x11b/0x4f0 fs/exfat/file.c:243 exfat_setattr+0xa03/0xd40 fs/exfat/file.c:339 notify_change+0xb76/0xe10 fs/attr.c:336 do_truncate+0x1ea/0x2d0 fs/open.c:65 Move the is_valid_cluster() helper from fatent.c to a common header to make it reusable in other *.c files. And add is_valid_cluster() to validate if cluster number is within valid range in exfat_clear_bitmap() and exfat_set_bitmap().
