Apache Hive: SQL injection vulnerability when processing delete column statistics requests via the HMS Thrift APIs

SQL injection vulnerability in Hive Metastore Server (HMS) when processing delete column statistics requests via the Thrift APIs. The vulnerability is only exploitable by trusted/authorized users/applications that are allowed to call directly the Thrift APIs. In most real-world deployments, HMS is accessible to only a handful of applications (e.g., Hiveserver2) thus the vulnerability is not exploitable. Moreover, the vulnerable code cannot be reached when metastore.try.direct.sql property is set to false. This issue affects Apache Hive: from 4.1.0 before 4.2.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 4.2.0, which fixes the issue. Users who cannot upgrade directly are encouraged to set metastore.try.direct.sql property to false if the HMS Thrift APIs are exposed to general public.

SQL injection in JDBC Appender in Apache Log4j V1

By design, the JDBCAppender in Log4j 1.2.x accepts an SQL statement as a configuration parameter where the values to be inserted are converters from PatternLayout. The message converter, %m, is likely to always be included. This allows attackers to manipulate the SQL by entering crafted strings into input fields or headers of an application that are logged allowing unintended SQL queries to be executed. Note this issue only affects Log4j 1.x when specifically configured to use the JDBCAppender, which is not the default. Beginning in version 2.0-beta8, the JDBCAppender was re-introduced with proper support for parameterized SQL queries and further customization over the columns written to in logs. Apache Log4j 1.2 reached end of life in August 2015. Users should upgrade to Log4j 2 as it addresses numerous other issues from the previous versions.

Apache Fineract: SQL injection vulnerabilities in offices API endpoint

Cisco SD-WAN vManage Software SQL Injection Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco SD-WAN vManage Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct SQL injection attacks on an affected system. The vulnerability exists because the web-based management interface improperly validates values within SQL queries. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to the application and sending malicious SQL queries to an affected system. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to modify values on or return values from the underlying database or the operating system.

Snowflake CLI SQL Injection Through Improper Neutralization of Local CLI Parameters

Improper neutralization of local CLI parameters in Snowflake CLI versions prior to 3.19 allowed unintended SQL execution. A user could trigger this issue by supplying crafted values to vulnerable Cortex SQL or object listing command paths, causing Snowflake CLI to execute unintended SQL in the context of that user's Snowflake session. Successful exploitation is constrained to self-injection because the vulnerable parameters were supplied directly through local CLI arguments rather than through project files, repositories, or other external input sources, and impact is limited to the privileges already available to the current session. The fix is available in Snowflake CLI version 3.19, and users must manually upgrade.
