idpf: Fix RSS LUT NULL pointer crash on early ethtool operations

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: idpf: Fix RSS LUT NULL pointer crash on early ethtool operations The RSS LUT is not initialized until the interface comes up, causing the following NULL pointer crash when ethtool operations like rxhash on/off are performed before the interface is brought up for the first time. Move RSS LUT initialization from ndo_open to vport creation to ensure LUT is always available. This enables RSS configuration via ethtool before bringing the interface up. Simplify LUT management by maintaining all changes in the driver's soft copy and programming zeros to the indirection table when rxhash is disabled. Defer HW programming until the interface comes up if it is down during rxhash and LUT configuration changes. Steps to reproduce: ** Load idpf driver; interfaces will be created modprobe idpf ** Before bringing the interfaces up, turn rxhash off ethtool -K eth2 rxhash off [89408.371875] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 [89408.371908] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [89408.371924] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [89408.371940] PGD 0 P4D 0 [89408.371953] Oops: Oops: 0000 [#1] SMP NOPTI <snip> [89408.372052] RIP: 0010:memcpy_orig+0x16/0x130 [89408.372310] Call Trace: [89408.372317] <TASK> [89408.372326] ? idpf_set_features+0xfc/0x180 [idpf] [89408.372363] __netdev_update_features+0x295/0xde0 [89408.372384] ethnl_set_features+0x15e/0x460 [89408.372406] genl_family_rcv_msg_doit+0x11f/0x180 [89408.372429] genl_rcv_msg+0x1ad/0x2b0 [89408.372446] ? __pfx_ethnl_set_features+0x10/0x10 [89408.372465] ? __pfx_genl_rcv_msg+0x10/0x10 [89408.372482] netlink_rcv_skb+0x58/0x100 [89408.372502] genl_rcv+0x2c/0x50 [89408.372516] netlink_unicast+0x289/0x3e0 [89408.372533] netlink_sendmsg+0x215/0x440 [89408.372551] __sys_sendto+0x234/0x240 [89408.372571] __x64_sys_sendto+0x28/0x30 [89408.372585] x64_sys_call+0x1909/0x1da0 [89408.372604] do_syscall_64+0x7a/0xfa0 [89408.373140] ? clear_bhb_loop+0x60/0xb0 [89408.373647] entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x76/0x7e [89408.378887] </TASK> <snip>

net: sfc: add missing xdp queue reinitialization

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sfc: add missing xdp queue reinitialization After rx/tx ring buffer size is changed, kernel panic occurs when it acts XDP_TX or XDP_REDIRECT. When tx/rx ring buffer size is changed(ethtool -G), sfc driver reallocates and reinitializes rx and tx queues and their buffer (tx_queue->buffer). But it misses reinitializing xdp queues(efx->xdp_tx_queues). So, while it is acting XDP_TX or XDP_REDIRECT, it uses the uninitialized tx_queue->buffer. A new function efx_set_xdp_channels() is separated from efx_set_channels() to handle only xdp queues. net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-link

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-link When using a fixed-link, the altr_tse_pcs driver crashes due to null-pointer dereference as no phy_device is provided to tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function. Fix this by adding a check for phy_dev before calling the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed() function. Also clean up the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function a bit. There is no need to check for splitter_base and sgmii_adapter_base because the driver will fail if these 2 variables are not derived from the device tree.

net/mlx5e: Fix macsec possible null dereference when updating MAC security entity (SecY)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5e: Fix macsec possible null dereference when updating MAC security entity (SecY) Upon updating MAC security entity (SecY) in hw offload path, the macsec security association (SA) initialization routine is called. In case of extended packet number (epn) is enabled the salt and ssci attributes are retrieved using the MACsec driver rx_sa context which is unavailable when updating a SecY property such as encoding-sa hence the null dereference. Fix by using the provided SA to set those attributes.

iommu/arm-smmu-v3: Don't unregister on shutdown

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/arm-smmu-v3: Don't unregister on shutdown Similar to SMMUv2, this driver calls iommu_device_unregister() from the shutdown path, which removes the IOMMU groups with no coordination whatsoever with their users - shutdown methods are optional in device drivers. This can lead to NULL pointer dereferences in those drivers' DMA API calls, or worse. Instead of calling the full arm_smmu_device_remove() from arm_smmu_device_shutdown(), let's pick only the relevant function call - arm_smmu_device_disable() - more or less the reverse of arm_smmu_device_reset() - and call just that from the shutdown path.

gpio: Restrict usage of GPIO chip irq members before initialization

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gpio: Restrict usage of GPIO chip irq members before initialization GPIO chip irq members are exposed before they could be completely initialized and this leads to race conditions. sfc: fix null pointer dereference in efx_hard_start_xmit

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sfc: fix null pointer dereference in efx_hard_start_xmit Trying to get the channel from the tx_queue variable here is wrong because we can only be here if tx_queue is NULL, so we shouldn't dereference it. As the above comment in the code says, this is very unlikely to happen, but it's wrong anyway so let's fix it. I hit this issue because of a different bug that caused tx_queue to be NULL. If that happens, this is the error message that we get here: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000020 [...] RIP: 0010:efx_hard_start_xmit+0x153/0x170 [sfc]

nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nilfs2: fix sysfs interface lifetime The current nilfs2 sysfs support has issues with the timing of creation and deletion of sysfs entries, potentially leading to null pointer dereferences, use-after-free, and lockdep warnings. Some of the sysfs attributes for nilfs2 per-filesystem instance refer to metadata file "cpfile", "sufile", or "dat", but nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group that creates those attributes is executed before the inodes for these metadata files are loaded, and nilfs_sysfs_delete_device_group which deletes these sysfs entries is called after releasing their metadata file inodes. Therefore, access to some of these sysfs attributes may occur outside of the lifetime of these metadata files, resulting in inode NULL pointer dereferences or use-after-free. In addition, the call to nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() is made during the locking period of the semaphore "ns_sem" of nilfs object, so the shrinker call caused by the memory allocation for the sysfs entries, may derive lock dependencies "ns_sem" -> (shrinker) -> "locks acquired in nilfs_evict_inode()". Since nilfs2 may acquire "ns_sem" deep in the call stack holding other locks via its error handler __nilfs_error(), this causes lockdep to report circular locking. This is a false positive and no circular locking actually occurs as no inodes exist yet when nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() is called. Fortunately, the lockdep warnings can be resolved by simply moving the call to nilfs_sysfs_create_device_group() out of "ns_sem". This fixes these sysfs issues by revising where the device's sysfs interface is created/deleted and keeping its lifetime within the lifetime of the metadata files above.

driver core: fix potential NULL pointer dereference in dev_uevent()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: driver core: fix potential NULL pointer dereference in dev_uevent() If userspace reads "uevent" device attribute at the same time as another threads unbinds the device from its driver, change to dev->driver from a valid pointer to NULL may result in crash. Fix this by using READ_ONCE() when fetching the pointer, and take bus' drivers klist lock to make sure driver instance will not disappear while we access it. Use WRITE_ONCE() when setting the driver pointer to ensure there is no tearing.

net/mlx5e: Harden uplink netdev access against device unbind

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5e: Harden uplink netdev access against device unbind The function mlx5_uplink_netdev_get() gets the uplink netdevice pointer from mdev->mlx5e_res.uplink_netdev. However, the netdevice can be removed and its pointer cleared when unbound from the mlx5_core.eth driver. This results in a NULL pointer, causing a kernel panic. powercap: dtpm_cpu: Fix NULL pointer dereference in get_pd_power_uw()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: powercap: dtpm_cpu: Fix NULL pointer dereference in get_pd_power_uw() The get_pd_power_uw() function can crash with a NULL pointer dereference when em_cpu_get() returns NULL. This occurs when a CPU becomes impossible during runtime, causing get_cpu_device() to return NULL, which propagates through em_cpu_get() and leads to a crash when em_span_cpus() dereferences the NULL pointer. Add a NULL check after em_cpu_get() and return 0 if unavailable, matching the existing fallback behavior in __dtpm_cpu_setup(). [ rjw: Drop an excess empty code line ]

drm/amdkfd: Destroy KFD debugfs after destroy KFD wq

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: Destroy KFD debugfs after destroy KFD wq Since KFD proc content was moved to kernel debugfs, we can't destroy KFD debugfs before kfd_process_destroy_wq. Move kfd_process_destroy_wq prior to kfd_debugfs_fini to fix a kernel NULL pointer problem. It happens when /sys/kernel/debug/kfd was already destroyed in kfd_debugfs_fini but kfd_process_destroy_wq calls kfd_debugfs_remove_process. This line debugfs_remove_recursive(entry->proc_dentry); tries to remove /sys/kernel/debug/kfd/proc/<pid> while /sys/kernel/debug/kfd is already gone. It hangs the kernel by kernel NULL pointer. ice: add NULL check in eswitch lag check

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: add NULL check in eswitch lag check The function ice_lag_is_switchdev_running() is being called from outside of the LAG event handler code. This results in the lag->upper_netdev being NULL sometimes. To avoid a NULL-pointer dereference, there needs to be a check before it is dereferenced.
