OpenEXR has a signed 32-bit Overflow in PIZ Decoder Leads to OOB Read/Write

OpenEXR provides the specification and reference implementation of the EXR file format, an image storage format for the motion picture industry. From 3.1.0 to before 3.2.7, 3.3.9, and 3.4.9, internal_exr_undo_piz() advances the working wavelet pointer with signed 32-bit arithmetic. Because nx, ny, and wcount are int, a crafted EXR file can make this product overflow and wrap. The next channel then decodes from an incorrect address. The wavelet decode path operates in place, so this yields both out-of-bounds reads and out-of-bounds writes. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.2.7, 3.3.9, and 3.4.9.

2. OpenEXR: OpenEXR: Arbitrary code execution and information disclosure via crafted EXR file

A flaw was found in OpenEXR, an image storage format for the motion picture industry. A remote attacker could exploit an integer overflow vulnerability in the `internal_exr_undo_piz()` function by providing a specially crafted EXR file. This flaw leads to out-of-bounds reads and writes, which may allow for arbitrary code execution or sensitive information disclosure.

Xorg: xwayland: out-of-bounds write in createpointerbarrierclient()

An out-of-bounds write flaw was found in X.Org and Xwayland. The function GetBarrierDevice() searches for the pointer device based on its device ID and returns the matching value, or supposedly NULL, if no match was found. However, the code will return the last element of the list if no matching device ID is found, which can lead to out-of-bounds memory access.

Xorg: xwayland: buffer overflow in xkbvmodmasktext()

A buffer overflow flaw was found in X.Org and Xwayland. The code in XkbVModMaskText() allocates a fixed-sized buffer on the stack and copies the names of the virtual modifiers to that buffer. The code fails to check the bounds of the buffer and would copy the data regardless of the size.

Stack buffer overflow in CMS (Auth)EnvelopedData parsing

Issue summary: Parsing CMS AuthEnvelopedData or EnvelopedData message with maliciously crafted AEAD parameters can trigger a stack buffer overflow. Impact summary: A stack buffer overflow may lead to a crash, causing Denial of Service, or potentially remote code execution. When parsing CMS (Auth)EnvelopedData structures that use AEAD ciphers such as AES-GCM, the IV (Initialization Vector) encoded in the ASN.1 parameters is copied into a fixed-size stack buffer without verifying that its length fits the destination. An attacker can supply a crafted CMS message with an oversized IV, causing a stack-based out-of-bounds write before any authentication or tag verification occurs. Applications and services that parse untrusted CMS or PKCS#7 content using AEAD ciphers (e.g., S/MIME (Auth)EnvelopedData with AES-GCM) are vulnerable. Because the overflow occurs prior to authentication, no valid key material is required to trigger it. While exploitability to remote code execution depends on platform and toolchain mitigations, the stack-based write primitive represents a severe risk. The FIPS modules in 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3 and 3.0 are not affected by this issue, as the CMS implementation is outside the OpenSSL FIPS module boundary. OpenSSL 3.6, 3.5, 3.4, 3.3 and 3.0 are vulnerable to this issue. OpenSSL 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 are not affected by this issue.

Grub2: squash4: integer overflow may lead to heap based out-of-bounds write when reading data

A flaw was found in grub2. When reading data from a squash4 filesystem, grub's squash4 fs module uses user-controlled parameters from the filesystem geometry to determine the internal buffer size, however, it improperly checks for integer overflows. A maliciously crafted filesystem may lead some of those buffer size calculations to overflow, causing it to perform a grub_malloc() operation with a smaller size than expected. As a result, the direct_read() will perform a heap based out-of-bounds write during data reading. This flaw may be leveraged to corrupt grub's internal critical data and may result in arbitrary code execution, by-passing secure boot protections.

KVM: Reject wrapped offset in kvm_reset_dirty_gfn()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: Reject wrapped offset in kvm_reset_dirty_gfn() kvm_reset_dirty_gfn() guards the gfn range with if (!memslot || (offset + __fls(mask)) >= memslot->npages) return; but offset is u64 and the addition is unchecked. The check can be silently bypassed by a u64 wrap. The dirty ring backing those entries is MAP_SHARED at KVM_DIRTY_LOG_PAGE_OFFSET of the vcpu fd, so the VMM can rewrite the slot and offset fields of any entry between when the kernel pushes them and when KVM_RESET_DIRTY_RINGS consumes them. On reset, kvm_dirty_ring_reset() re-reads the values via READ_ONCE() and feeds them straight back into this check; only the flags handshake is treated as the handover, the slot/offset payload is taken on trust. Crafting two entries entry[i].offset = 0xffffffffffffffc1 entry[i+1].offset = 0 makes the coalescing loop in kvm_dirty_ring_reset() compute delta = (s64)(0 - 0xffffffffffffffc1) = 63 which falls in [0, BITS_PER_LONG), so it folds entry[i+1] into the existing mask by setting bit 63. The trailing kvm_reset_dirty_gfn() call then sees offset = 0xffffffffffffffc1 and __fls(mask) = 63; the sum is 0 in u64 and the bounds check passes. That offset propagates into kvm_arch_mmu_enable_log_dirty_pt_masked() unchanged. On the legacy MMU path -- kvm_memslots_have_rmaps() == true, i.e. shadow paging, any VM that has allocated shadow roots, or a write-tracked slot -- it reaches gfn_to_rmap(), which indexes slot->arch.rmap[0][] with a near-U64_MAX gfn. That is an out-of-bounds load of a kvm_rmap_head, followed by a conditional clear of PT_WRITABLE_MASK in whatever the loaded pointer points at. The path is reachable from any process holding /dev/kvm. Range-check offset on its own first, so the addition cannot wrap. memslot->npages is bounded well below U64_MAX, so once offset < npages holds, offset + __fls(mask) (with __fls(mask) < BITS_PER_LONG) stays in range.

dm log: fix out-of-bounds write due to region_count overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm log: fix out-of-bounds write due to region_count overflow The local variable region_count in create_log_context() is declared as unsigned int (32-bit), but dm_sector_div_up() returns sector_t (64-bit). When a device-mapper target has a sufficiently large ti->len with a small region_size, the division result can exceed UINT_MAX. The truncated value is then used to calculate bitset_size, causing clean_bits, sync_bits, and recovering_bits to be allocated far smaller than needed for the actual number of regions. Subsequent log operations (log_set_bit, log_clear_bit, log_test_bit) use region indices derived from the full untruncated region space, causing out-of-bounds writes to kernel heap memory allocated by vmalloc. This can be reproduced by creating a mirror target whose region_count overflows 32 bits: dmsetup create bigzero --table '0 8589934594 zero' dmsetup create mymirror --table '0 8589934594 mirror \ core 2 2 nosync 2 /dev/mapper/bigzero 0 \ /dev/mapper/bigzero 0' The status output confirms the truncation (sync_count=1 instead of 4294967297, because 0x100000001 was truncated to 1): $ dmsetup status mymirror 0 8589934594 mirror 2 254:1 254:1 1/4294967297 ... This leads to a kernel crash in core_in_sync: BUG: scheduling while atomic: (udev-worker)/9150/0x00000000 RIP: 0010:core_in_sync+0x14/0x30 [dm_log] CR2: 0000000000000008 Fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed! Fix by widening the local region_count to sector_t and adding an explicit overflow check before the value is assigned to lc->region_count.

drm/amdkfd: Fix buffer overflow in SDMA queue checkpoint/restore on GFX11

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdkfd: Fix buffer overflow in SDMA queue checkpoint/restore on GFX11 The v11 MQD manager incorrectly assigned the CP-compute variants of checkpoint_mqd/restore_mqd for KFD_MQD_TYPE_SDMA queues. These functions use sizeof(struct v11_compute_mqd) (2048 bytes) instead of sizeof(struct v11_sdma_mqd) (512 bytes), causing a 1536-byte overflow. During CRIU checkpoint of an SDMA queue on Navi3x: - checkpoint_mqd() reads 2048 bytes from a 512-byte SDMA MQD buffer, leaking 1536 bytes of adjacent GTT memory to userspace During CRIU restore: - restore_mqd() writes 2048 bytes into a 512-byte SDMA MQD buffer, corrupting 1536 bytes of adjacent GTT memory (often the ring buffer or neighboring MQDs) This is a copy-paste regression unique to v11. All other ASIC backends (cik, vi, v9, v10, v12) correctly use the SDMA-specific variants. Add checkpoint_mqd_sdma() and restore_mqd_sdma() functions that properly handle the smaller v11_sdma_mqd structure, matching the pattern used in other MQD managers. USB: serial: kl5kusb105: fix bulk-out buffer overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: kl5kusb105: fix bulk-out buffer overflow klsi_105_prepare_write_buffer() is called by the generic write path with the bulk-out buffer and its size (bulk_out_size, 64 bytes). It stores a two-byte length header at the start of the buffer and copies the payload from the write fifo starting at buf + KLSI_HDR_LEN, but passes the full buffer size as the number of bytes to copy: count = kfifo_out_locked(&port->write_fifo, buf + KLSI_HDR_LEN, size, &port->lock); When the fifo holds at least size bytes, size bytes are copied starting two bytes into the size-byte buffer, writing KLSI_HDR_LEN bytes past its end. Copy at most size - KLSI_HDR_LEN bytes instead, leaving room for the header as safe_serial already does. Writing bulk_out_size or more bytes to the tty triggers a slab out-of-bounds write, observed with KASAN by emulating the device with dummy_hcd and raw-gadget: BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds in kfifo_copy_out+0x83/0xc0 Write of size 64 at addr ffff888112c62202 by task python3 kfifo_copy_out klsi_105_prepare_write_buffer [kl5kusb105] usb_serial_generic_write_start [usbserial] Allocated by task 139: usb_serial_probe [usbserial] The buggy address is located 2 bytes inside of allocated 64-byte region The out-of-bounds write no longer occurs with this change applied.

bpf: Free reuseport cBPF prog after RCU grace period.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Free reuseport cBPF prog after RCU grace period. Eulgyu Kim reported the splat below with a repro. [0] The repro sets up a UDP reuseport group with a cBPF prog and replaces it with a new one while another thread is sending a UDP packet to the group. The reuseport prog is freed by sk_reuseport_prog_free(). bpf_prog_put() is called for "e"BPF prog to destruct through multiple stages while cBPF prog is freed immediately by bpf_release_orig_filter() and bpf_prog_free(). If a reuseport prog is detached from the setsockopt() path (reuseport_attach_prog() or reuseport_detach_prog()), sk_reuseport_prog_free() is called without waiting for RCU readers to complete, resulting in various bugs. Let's defer freeing the reuseport cBPF prog after one RCU grace period. Note "e"BPF prog is safe as is unless the fast path starts to touch fields destroyed in bpf_prog_put_deferred() and __bpf_prog_put_noref(). net: skbuff: preserve shared-frag marker during coalescing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: skbuff: preserve shared-frag marker during coalescing skb_try_coalesce() can attach paged frags from @from to @to. If @from has SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG set, the resulting @to skb can contain the same externally-owned or page-cache-backed frags, but the shared-frag marker is currently lost. That breaks the invariant relied on by later in-place writers. In particular, ESP input checks skb_has_shared_frag() before deciding whether an uncloned nonlinear skb can skip skb_cow_data(). If TCP receive coalescing has moved shared frags into an unmarked skb, ESP can see skb_has_shared_frag() as false and decrypt in place over page-cache backed frags. Propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG when skb_try_coalesce() transfers paged frags. The tailroom copy path does not need the marker because it copies bytes into @to's linear data rather than transferring frag descriptors.

net/sched: fix pedit partial COW leading to page cache corruption

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: fix pedit partial COW leading to page cache corruption tcf_pedit_act() computes the COW range for skb_ensure_writable() once before the key loop using tcfp_off_max_hint, but the hint does not account for the runtime header offset added by typed keys. This can leave part of the write region un-COW'd. Fix by moving skb_ensure_writable() inside the per-key loop where the actual write offset is known, and add overflow checking on the offset arithmetic. For negative offsets (e.g. Ethernet header edits at ingress), use skb_cow() to COW the headroom instead. Guard offset_valid() against INT_MIN, where negation is undefined.

fs/smb/client: fix out-of-bounds read in cifs_sanitize_prepath

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs/smb/client: fix out-of-bounds read in cifs_sanitize_prepath When cifs_sanitize_prepath is called with an empty string or a string containing only delimiters (e.g., "/"), the current logic attempts to check *(cursor2 - 1) before cursor2 has advanced. This results in an out-of-bounds read. This patch adds an early exit check after stripping prepended delimiters. If no path content remains, the function returns NULL. The bug was identified via manual audit and verified using a standalone test case compiled with AddressSanitizer, which triggered a SEGV on affected inputs.

rxrpc: Also unshare DATA/RESPONSE packets when paged frags are present

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rxrpc: Also unshare DATA/RESPONSE packets when paged frags are present The DATA-packet handler in rxrpc_input_call_event() and the RESPONSE handler in rxrpc_verify_response() copy the skb to a linear one before calling into the security ops only when skb_cloned() is true. An skb that is not cloned but still carries externally-owned paged fragments (e.g. SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG set by splice() into a UDP socket via __ip_append_data, or a chained skb_has_frag_list()) falls through to the in-place decryption path, which binds the frag pages directly into the AEAD/skcipher SGL via skb_to_sgvec(). Extend the gate to also unshare when skb_has_frag_list() or skb_has_shared_frag() is true. This catches the splice-loopback vector and other externally-shared frag sources while preserving the zero-copy fast path for skbs whose frags are kernel-private (e.g. NIC page_pool RX, GRO). The OOM/trace handling already in place is reused.

FreeRDP - Heap-buffer-overflow in gdi_CacheToSurface via rectangle validation bypass

FreeRDP before 3.26.0 contains a heap-buffer-overflow vulnerability in gdi_CacheToSurface that allows remote attackers to write out-of-bounds heap memory. The vulnerability occurs because rectangle validation clamps coordinates to UINT16_MAX but performs copy operations using unclamped cache entry dimensions, enabling malicious RDP servers to trigger large out-of-bounds writes and potentially achieve remote code execution or client crash.

Grub2: fs/hfs: strcpy() using the volume name (fs/hfs.c:382)

A flaw was found in the HFS filesystem. When reading an HFS volume's name at grub_fs_mount(), the HFS filesystem driver performs a strcpy() using the user-provided volume name as input without properly validating the volume name's length. This issue may read to a heap-based out-of-bounds writer, impacting grub's sensitive data integrity and eventually leading to a secure boot protection bypass.

Xorg-x11-server: xorg-x11-server-xwayland: xorg-x11-server: stack buffer overflow in font alias resolution due to libxfont2 name length mismatch

A stack-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland. A mismatch between the X server and the libXfont2 library's maximum font name length can cause a stack buffer overflow during font alias resolution. The server allocates a 256 byte stack buffer but libXfont2's alias target name length is 1024 bytes. A font alias name between 257 and 1023 bytes causes the X server to copy that name into the undersized stack buffer without further checks. This may be used to crash the server, or for privilege escalation if the X server runs as root.

Xorg-x11-server: xorg-x11-server-xwayland: xorg-x11-server: stack buffer overflow in xkb setmap request via mapwidths indexing

A stack-based buffer overflow flaw was found in the X.Org X server and Xwayland. _XkbSetMapChecks() declares a fixed-size stack buffer mapWidths[256] indexed by key type index. The helper function CheckKeyTypes() writes to this buffer at a client-controlled offset, allowing a stack buffer overflow. This may be used to crash the server, or for privilege escalation if the X server runs as root.

Xorg-x11-server: use-after-free in procrenderaddglyphs

A use-after-free vulnerability was found in the ProcRenderAddGlyphs() function of Xorg servers. This issue occurs when AllocateGlyph() is called to store new glyphs sent by the client to the X server, potentially resulting in multiple entries pointing to the same non-refcounted glyphs. Consequently, ProcRenderAddGlyphs() may free a glyph, leading to a use-after-free scenario when the same glyph pointer is subsequently accessed. This flaw allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system by sending a specially crafted request.

pnpm Lockfile Integrity Bypass Allows Remote Dynamic Dependencies

pnpm is a package manager. Versions 10.26.2 and below store HTTP tarball dependencies (and git-hosted tarballs) in the lockfile without integrity hashes. This allows the remote server to serve different content on each install, even when a lockfile is committed. An attacker who publishes a package with an HTTP tarball dependency can serve different code to different users or CI/CD environments. The attack requires the victim to install a package that has an HTTP/git tarball in its dependency tree. The victim's lockfile provides no protection. This issue is fixed in version 10.26.0.

pnpm v10+ Bypass "Dependency lifecycle scripts execution disabled by default"

pnpm is a package manager. Versions 10.0.0 through 10.25 allow git-hosted dependencies to execute arbitrary code during pnpm install, circumventing the v10 security feature "Dependency lifecycle scripts execution disabled by default". While pnpm v10 blocks postinstall scripts via the onlyBuiltDependencies mechanism, git dependencies can still execute prepare, prepublish, and prepack scripts during the fetch phase, enabling remote code execution without user consent or approval.
