ALSA: usb-audio: Add sanity check for OOB writes at silencing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: usb-audio: Add sanity check for OOB writes at silencing At silencing the playback URB packets in the implicit fb mode before the actual playback, we blindly assume that the received packets fit with the buffer size. But when the setup in the capture stream differs from the playback stream (e.g. due to the USB core limitation of max packet size), such an inconsistency may lead to OOB writes to the buffer, resulting in a crash. For addressing it, add a sanity check of the transfer buffer size at prepare_silent_urb(), and stop the data copy if the received data overflows. Also, report back the transfer error properly from there, too. Note that this doesn't fix the root cause of the playback error itself, but this merely covers the kernel Oops.

net/sched: mqprio: fix stack out-of-bounds write in tc entry parsing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: mqprio: fix stack out-of-bounds write in tc entry parsing TCA_MQPRIO_TC_ENTRY_INDEX is validated using NLA_POLICY_MAX(NLA_U32, TC_QOPT_MAX_QUEUE), which allows the value TC_QOPT_MAX_QUEUE (16). This leads to a 4-byte out-of-bounds stack write in the fp[] array, which only has room for 16 elements (0–15). Fix this by changing the policy to allow only up to TC_QOPT_MAX_QUEUE - 1.

ipmi:msghandler: Fix potential memory corruption in ipmi_create_user()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipmi:msghandler: Fix potential memory corruption in ipmi_create_user() The "intf" list iterator is an invalid pointer if the correct "intf->intf_num" is not found. Calling atomic_dec(&intf->nr_users) on and invalid pointer will lead to memory corruption. We don't really need to call atomic_dec() if we haven't called atomic_add_return() so update the if (intf->in_shutdown) path as well.

atm: clip: Fix infinite recursive call of clip_push().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: atm: clip: Fix infinite recursive call of clip_push(). syzbot reported the splat below. [0] This happens if we call ioctl(ATMARP_MKIP) more than once. During the first call, clip_mkip() sets clip_push() to vcc->push(), and the second call copies it to clip_vcc->old_push(). Later, when the socket is close()d, vcc_destroy_socket() passes NULL skb to clip_push(), which calls clip_vcc->old_push(), triggering the infinite recursion. Let's prevent the second ioctl(ATMARP_MKIP) by checking vcc->user_back, which is allocated by the first call as clip_vcc. Note also that we use lock_sock() to prevent racy calls. net: lan743x: fix potential out-of-bounds write in lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: lan743x: fix potential out-of-bounds write in lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() Before calling lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(), the 'channel' value is checked against the maximum value of PCI11X1X_PTP_IO_MAX_CHANNELS(8). This seems correct and aligns with the PTP interrupt status register (PTP_INT_STS) specifications. However, lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() writes to ptp->extts[] with only LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS(4) elements, using channel as an index: lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(..., u8 channel,...) { ... /* Update Local timestamp */ extts = &ptp->extts[channel]; extts->ts.tv_sec = sec; ... } To avoid an out-of-bounds write and utilize all the supported GPIO inputs, set LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS to 8. Detected using the static analysis tool - Svace.

Linux drivers/char/lp.c Out-of-Bounds Write. Due to a missing bounds check, and the fact that parport_ptr integer is static, a 'secure boot' kernel command line adversary (can happen due to bootloader vulns, e.g. Google Nexus 6's CVE-2016-10277, where due to a vulnerability the adversary has partial control over the command line) can overflow the parport_nr array in the following code, by appending many (>LP_NO) 'lp=none' arguments to the command line.

HID: multitouch: Check to ensure report responses match the request

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: multitouch: Check to ensure report responses match the request It is possible for a malicious (or clumsy) device to respond to a specific report's feature request using a completely different report ID. This can cause confusion in the HID core resulting in nasty side-effects such as OOB writes. Add a check to ensure that the report ID in the response, matches the one that was requested. If it doesn't, omit reporting the raw event and return early.

Bluetooth: MGMT: validate LTK enc_size on load

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: MGMT: validate LTK enc_size on load Load Long Term Keys stores the user-provided enc_size and later uses it to size fixed-size stack operations when replying to LE LTK requests. An enc_size larger than the 16-byte key buffer can therefore overflow the reply stack buffer. Reject oversized enc_size values while validating the management LTK record so invalid keys never reach the stored key state.

staging: media: atomisp: Fix stack buffer overflow in gmin_get_var_int()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: media: atomisp: Fix stack buffer overflow in gmin_get_var_int() When gmin_get_config_var() calls efi.get_variable() and the EFI variable is larger than the expected buffer size, two behaviors combine to create a stack buffer overflow: 1. gmin_get_config_var() does not return the proper error code when efi.get_variable() fails. It returns the stale 'ret' value from earlier operations instead of indicating the EFI failure. 2. When efi.get_variable() returns EFI_BUFFER_TOO_SMALL, it updates *out_len to the required buffer size but writes no data to the output buffer. However, due to bug #1, gmin_get_var_int() believes the call succeeded. The caller gmin_get_var_int() then performs: - Allocates val[CFG_VAR_NAME_MAX + 1] (65 bytes) on stack - Calls gmin_get_config_var(dev, is_gmin, var, val, &len) with len=64 - If EFI variable is >64 bytes, efi.get_variable() sets len=required_size - Due to bug #1, thinks call succeeded with len=required_size - Executes val[len] = 0, writing past end of 65-byte stack buffer This creates a stack buffer overflow when EFI variables are larger than 64 bytes. Since EFI variables can be controlled by firmware or system configuration, this could potentially be exploited for code execution. Fix the bug by returning proper error codes from gmin_get_config_var() based on EFI status instead of stale 'ret' value. The gmin_get_var_int() function is called during device initialization for camera sensor configuration on Intel Bay Trail and Cherry Trail platforms using the atomisp camera stack.

Squashfs: check return result of sb_min_blocksize

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Squashfs: check return result of sb_min_blocksize Syzkaller reports an "UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in squashfs_bio_read" bug. Syzkaller forks multiple processes which after mounting the Squashfs filesystem, issues an ioctl("/dev/loop0", LOOP_SET_BLOCK_SIZE, 0x8000). Now if this ioctl occurs at the same time another process is in the process of mounting a Squashfs filesystem on /dev/loop0, the failure occurs. When this happens the following code in squashfs_fill_super() fails. ---- msblk->devblksize = sb_min_blocksize(sb, SQUASHFS_DEVBLK_SIZE); msblk->devblksize_log2 = ffz(~msblk->devblksize); ---- sb_min_blocksize() returns 0, which means msblk->devblksize is set to 0. As a result, ffz(~msblk->devblksize) returns 64, and msblk->devblksize_log2 is set to 64. This subsequently causes the UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in fs/squashfs/block.c:195:36 shift exponent 64 is too large for 64-bit type 'u64' (aka 'unsigned long long') This commit adds a check for a 0 return by sb_min_blocksize().

wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid entry fetch in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid entry fetch in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process Currently, ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process uses ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry to fetch the next entry from the destination ring. This is incorrect because ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry is intended for source rings, not destination rings. This leads to invalid entry fetches, causing potential data corruption or crashes due to accessing incorrect memory locations. This happens because the source ring and destination ring have different handling mechanisms and using the wrong function results in incorrect pointer arithmetic and ring management. To fix this issue, replace the call to ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry with ath12k_hal_srng_dst_get_next_entry in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process. This ensures that the correct function is used for fetching entries from the destination ring, preventing invalid memory accesses. ksmbd: prevent out-of-bounds stream writes by validating *pos

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: prevent out-of-bounds stream writes by validating *pos ksmbd_vfs_stream_write() did not validate whether the write offset (*pos) was within the bounds of the existing stream data length (v_len). If *pos was greater than or equal to v_len, this could lead to an out-of-bounds memory write. This patch adds a check to ensure *pos is less than v_len before proceeding. scsi: smartpqi: Use is_kdump_kernel() to check for kdump

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: smartpqi: Use is_kdump_kernel() to check for kdump The smartpqi driver checks the reset_devices variable to determine whether special adjustments need to be made for kdump. This has the effect that after a regular kexec reboot, some driver parameters such as max_transfer_size are much lower than usual. More importantly, kexec reboot tests have revealed memory corruption caused by the driver log being written to system memory after a kexec. Fix this by testing is_kdump_kernel() rather than reset_devices where appropriate.

iommu/amd: Fix potential buffer overflow in parse_ivrs_acpihid

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/amd: Fix potential buffer overflow in parse_ivrs_acpihid There is a string parsing logic error which can lead to an overflow of hid or uid buffers. Comparing ACPIID_LEN against a total string length doesn't take into account the lengths of individual hid and uid buffers so the check is insufficient in some cases. For example if the length of hid string is 4 and the length of the uid string is 260, the length of str will be equal to ACPIID_LEN + 1 but uid string will overflow uid buffer which size is 256. The same applies to the hid string with length 13 and uid string with length 250. Check the length of hid and uid strings separately to prevent buffer overflow. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

crypto: lzo - Fix compression buffer overrun

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: crypto: lzo - Fix compression buffer overrun Unlike the decompression code, the compression code in LZO never checked for output overruns. It instead assumes that the caller always provides enough buffer space, disregarding the buffer length provided by the caller. Add a safe compression interface that checks for the end of buffer before each write. Use the safe interface in crypto/lzo.

iio: adc: ad4851: fix ad4858 chan pointer handling

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: adc: ad4851: fix ad4858 chan pointer handling The pointer returned from ad4851_parse_channels_common() is incremented internally as each channel is populated. In ad4858_parse_channels(), the same pointer was further incremented while setting ext_scan_type fields for each channel. This resulted in indio_dev->channels being set to a pointer past the end of the allocated array, potentially causing memory corruption or undefined behavior. Fix this by iterating over the channels using an explicit index instead of incrementing the pointer. This preserves the original base pointer and ensures all channel metadata is set correctly.

Kernel: netfilter: potential slab-out-of-bound access due to integer underflow

An array indexing vulnerability was found in the netfilter subsystem of the Linux kernel. A missing macro could lead to a miscalculation of the `h->nets` array offset, providing attackers with the primitive to arbitrarily increment/decrement a memory buffer out-of-bound. This issue may allow a local user to crash the system or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.

scsi: mpi3mr: Fix issues in mpi3mr_get_all_tgt_info()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: mpi3mr: Fix issues in mpi3mr_get_all_tgt_info() The function mpi3mr_get_all_tgt_info() has four issues: 1) It calculates valid entry length in alltgt_info assuming the header part of the struct mpi3mr_device_map_info would equal to sizeof(u32). The correct size is sizeof(u64). 2) When it calculates the valid entry length kern_entrylen, it excludes one entry by subtracting 1 from num_devices. 3) It copies num_device by calling memcpy(). Substitution is enough. 4) It does not specify the calculated length to sg_copy_from_buffer(). Instead, it specifies the payload length which is larger than the alltgt_info size. It causes "BUG: KASAN: slab-out-of-bounds". Fix the issues by using the correct header size, removing the subtraction from num_devices, replacing the memcpy() with substitution and specifying the correct length to sg_copy_from_buffer().

vdpa: Add features attr to vdpa_nl_policy for nlattr length check

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vdpa: Add features attr to vdpa_nl_policy for nlattr length check The vdpa_nl_policy structure is used to validate the nlattr when parsing the incoming nlmsg. It will ensure the attribute being described produces a valid nlattr pointer in info->attrs before entering into each handler in vdpa_nl_ops. That is to say, the missing part in vdpa_nl_policy may lead to illegal nlattr after parsing, which could lead to OOB read just like CVE-2023-3773. This patch adds the missing nla_policy for vdpa features attr to avoid such bugs.

ocfs2: fix data corruption after failed write

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ocfs2: fix data corruption after failed write When buffered write fails to copy data into underlying page cache page, ocfs2_write_end_nolock() just zeroes out and dirties the page. This can leave dirty page beyond EOF and if page writeback tries to write this page before write succeeds and expands i_size, page gets into inconsistent state where page dirty bit is clear but buffer dirty bits stay set resulting in page data never getting written and so data copied to the page is lost. Fix the problem by invalidating page beyond EOF after failed write.

platform/x86: wmi: Fix opening of char device

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: platform/x86: wmi: Fix opening of char device Since commit fa1f68db6ca7 ("drivers: misc: pass miscdevice pointer via file private data"), the miscdevice stores a pointer to itself inside filp->private_data, which means that private_data will not be NULL when wmi_char_open() is called. This might cause memory corruption should wmi_char_open() be unable to find its driver, something which can happen when the associated WMI device is deleted in wmi_free_devices(). Fix the problem by using the miscdevice pointer to retrieve the WMI device data associated with a char device using container_of(). This also avoids wmi_char_open() picking a wrong WMI device bound to a driver with the same name as the original driver.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: ipset: add the missing IP_SET_HASH_WITH_NET0 macro for ip_set_hash_netportnet.c The missing IP_SET_HASH_WITH_NET0 macro in ip_set_hash_netportnet can lead to the use of wrong `CIDR_POS(c)` for calculating array offsets, which can lead to integer underflow. As a result, it leads to slab out-of-bound access. This patch adds back the IP_SET_HASH_WITH_NET0 macro to ip_set_hash_netportnet to address the issue.

clk: mediatek: mt8183: Add back SSPM related clocks

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: clk: mediatek: mt8183: Add back SSPM related clocks This reverts commit 860690a93ef23b567f781c1b631623e27190f101. On the MT8183, the SSPM related clocks were removed claiming a lack of usage. This however causes some issues when the driver was converted to the new simple-probe mechanism. This mechanism allocates enough space for all the clocks defined in the clock driver, not the highest index in the DT binding. This leads to out-of-bound writes if their are holes in the DT binding or the driver (due to deprecated or unimplemented clocks). These errors can go unnoticed and cause memory corruption, leading to crashes in unrelated areas, or nothing at all. KASAN will detect them. Add the SSPM related clocks back to the MT8183 clock driver to fully implement the DT binding. The SSPM clocks are for the power management co-processor, and should never be turned off. They are marked as such.

block: ublk: extending queue_size to fix overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: block: ublk: extending queue_size to fix overflow When validating drafted SPDK ublk target, in a case that assigning large queue depth to multiqueue ublk device, ublk target would run into a weird incorrect state. During rounds of review and debug, An overflow bug was found in ublk driver. In ublk_cmd.h, UBLK_MAX_QUEUE_DEPTH is 4096 which means each ublk queue depth can be set as large as 4096. But when setting qd for a ublk device, sizeof(struct ublk_queue) + depth * sizeof(struct ublk_io) will be larger than 65535 if qd is larger than 2728. Then queue_size is overflowed, and ublk_get_queue() references a wrong pointer position. The wrong content of ublk_queue elements will lead to out-of-bounds memory access. Extend queue_size in ublk_device as "unsigned int".

locking/ww_mutex/test: Fix potential workqueue corruption

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: locking/ww_mutex/test: Fix potential workqueue corruption In some cases running with the test-ww_mutex code, I was seeing odd behavior where sometimes it seemed flush_workqueue was returning before all the work threads were finished. Often this would cause strange crashes as the mutexes would be freed while they were being used. Looking at the code, there is a lifetime problem as the controlling thread that spawns the work allocates the "struct stress" structures that are passed to the workqueue threads. Then when the workqueue threads are finished, they free the stress struct that was passed to them. Unfortunately the workqueue work_struct node is in the stress struct. Which means the work_struct is freed before the work thread returns and while flush_workqueue is waiting. It seems like a better idea to have the controlling thread both allocate and free the stress structures, so that we can be sure we don't corrupt the workqueue by freeing the structure prematurely. So this patch reworks the test to do so, and with this change I no longer see the early flush_workqueue returns.
