drm/msm/dpu: Add a null ptr check for dpu_encoder_needs_modeset

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/dpu: Add a null ptr check for dpu_encoder_needs_modeset The drm_atomic_get_new_connector_state() can return NULL if the connector is not part of the atomic state. Add a check to prevent a NULL pointer dereference. This follows the same pattern used in dpu_encoder_update_topology() within the same file, which checks for NULL before using conn_state. wifi: brcmfmac: cfg80211: Handle SSID based pmksa deletion

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: brcmfmac: cfg80211: Handle SSID based pmksa deletion wpa_supplicant 2.11 sends since 1efdba5fdc2c ("Handle PMKSA flush in the driver for SAE/OWE offload cases") SSID based PMKSA del commands. brcmfmac is not prepared and tries to dereference the NULL bssid and pmkid pointers in cfg80211_pmksa. PMKID_V3 operations support SSID based updates so copy the SSID.

fou: Fix null-ptr-deref in GRO.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fou: Fix null-ptr-deref in GRO. We observed a null-ptr-deref in fou_gro_receive() while shutting down a host. [0] The NULL pointer is sk->sk_user_data, and the offset 8 is of protocol in struct fou. When fou_release() is called due to netns dismantle or explicit tunnel teardown, udp_tunnel_sock_release() sets NULL to sk->sk_user_data. Then, the tunnel socket is destroyed after a single RCU grace period. So, in-flight udp4_gro_receive() could find the socket and execute the FOU GRO handler, where sk->sk_user_data could be NULL. Let's use rcu_dereference_sk_user_data() in fou_from_sock() and add NULL checks in FOU GRO handlers. ksmbd: unset the binding mark of a reused connection

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: unset the binding mark of a reused connection Steve French reported null pointer dereference error from sha256 lib. cifs.ko can send session setup requests on reused connection. video/aperture: optionally match the device in sysfb_disable()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: video/aperture: optionally match the device in sysfb_disable() In aperture_remove_conflicting_pci_devices(), we currently only call sysfb_disable() on vga class devices. This leads to the following problem when the pimary device is not VGA compatible: 1. A PCI device with a non-VGA class is the boot display 2. That device is probed first and it is not a VGA device so sysfb_disable() is not called, but the device resources are freed by aperture_detach_platform_device() 3. Non-primary GPU has a VGA class and it ends up calling sysfb_disable() 4. NULL pointer dereference via sysfb_disable() since the resources have already been freed by aperture_detach_platform_device() when it was called by the other device. Fix this by passing a device pointer to sysfb_disable() and checking the device to determine if we should execute it or not. v2: Fix build when CONFIG_SCREEN_INFO is not set v3: Move device check into the mutex Drop primary variable in aperture_remove_conflicting_pci_devices() Drop __init on pci sysfb_pci_dev_is_enabled()

ice: protect XDP configuration with a mutex

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: protect XDP configuration with a mutex The main threat to data consistency in ice_xdp() is a possible asynchronous PF reset. It can be triggered by a user or by TX timeout handler. XDP setup and PF reset code access the same resources in the following sections: * ice_vsi_close() in ice_prepare_for_reset() - already rtnl-locked * ice_vsi_rebuild() for the PF VSI - not protected * ice_vsi_open() - already rtnl-locked With an unfortunate timing, such accesses can result in a crash such as the one below: [ +1.999878] ice 0000:b1:00.0: Registered XDP mem model MEM_TYPE_XSK_BUFF_POOL on Rx ring 14 [ +2.002992] ice 0000:b1:00.0: Registered XDP mem model MEM_TYPE_XSK_BUFF_POOL on Rx ring 18 [Mar15 18:17] ice 0000:b1:00.0 ens801f0np0: NETDEV WATCHDOG: CPU: 38: transmit queue 14 timed out 80692736 ms [ +0.000093] ice 0000:b1:00.0 ens801f0np0: tx_timeout: VSI_num: 6, Q 14, NTC: 0x0, HW_HEAD: 0x0, NTU: 0x0, INT: 0x4000001 [ +0.000012] ice 0000:b1:00.0 ens801f0np0: tx_timeout recovery level 1, txqueue 14 [ +0.394718] ice 0000:b1:00.0: PTP reset successful [ +0.006184] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000098 [ +0.000045] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode [ +0.000023] #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page [ +0.000023] PGD 0 P4D 0 [ +0.000018] Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP NOPTI [ +0.000023] CPU: 38 PID: 7540 Comm: kworker/38:1 Not tainted 6.8.0-rc7 #1 [ +0.000031] Hardware name: Intel Corporation S2600WFT/S2600WFT, BIOS SE5C620.86B.02.01.0014.082620210524 08/26/2021 [ +0.000036] Workqueue: ice ice_service_task [ice] [ +0.000183] RIP: 0010:ice_clean_tx_ring+0xa/0xd0 [ice] [...] [ +0.000013] Call Trace: [ +0.000016] <TASK> [ +0.000014] ? __die+0x1f/0x70 [ +0.000029] ? page_fault_oops+0x171/0x4f0 [ +0.000029] ? schedule+0x3b/0xd0 [ +0.000027] ? exc_page_fault+0x7b/0x180 [ +0.000022] ? asm_exc_page_fault+0x22/0x30 [ +0.000031] ? ice_clean_tx_ring+0xa/0xd0 [ice] [ +0.000194] ice_free_tx_ring+0xe/0x60 [ice] [ +0.000186] ice_destroy_xdp_rings+0x157/0x310 [ice] [ +0.000151] ice_vsi_decfg+0x53/0xe0 [ice] [ +0.000180] ice_vsi_rebuild+0x239/0x540 [ice] [ +0.000186] ice_vsi_rebuild_by_type+0x76/0x180 [ice] [ +0.000145] ice_rebuild+0x18c/0x840 [ice] [ +0.000145] ? delay_tsc+0x4a/0xc0 [ +0.000022] ? delay_tsc+0x92/0xc0 [ +0.000020] ice_do_reset+0x140/0x180 [ice] [ +0.000886] ice_service_task+0x404/0x1030 [ice] [ +0.000824] process_one_work+0x171/0x340 [ +0.000685] worker_thread+0x277/0x3a0 [ +0.000675] ? preempt_count_add+0x6a/0xa0 [ +0.000677] ? _raw_spin_lock_irqsave+0x23/0x50 [ +0.000679] ? __pfx_worker_thread+0x10/0x10 [ +0.000653] kthread+0xf0/0x120 [ +0.000635] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ +0.000616] ret_from_fork+0x2d/0x50 [ +0.000612] ? __pfx_kthread+0x10/0x10 [ +0.000604] ret_from_fork_asm+0x1b/0x30 [ +0.000604] </TASK> The previous way of handling this through returning -EBUSY is not viable, particularly when destroying AF_XDP socket, because the kernel proceeds with removal anyway. There is plenty of code between those calls and there is no need to create a large critical section that covers all of them, same as there is no need to protect ice_vsi_rebuild() with rtnl_lock(). Add xdp_state_lock mutex to protect ice_vsi_rebuild() and ice_xdp(). Leaving unprotected sections in between would result in two states that have to be considered: 1. when the VSI is closed, but not yet rebuild 2. when VSI is already rebuild, but not yet open The latter case is actually already handled through !netif_running() case, we just need to adjust flag checking a little. The former one is not as trivial, because between ice_vsi_close() and ice_vsi_rebuild(), a lot of hardware interaction happens, this can make adding/deleting rings exit with an error. Luckily, VSI rebuild is pending and can apply new configuration for us in a managed fashion. Therefore, add an additional VSI state flag ICE_VSI_REBUILD_PENDING to indicate that ice_x ---truncated---

filemap: Handle sibling entries in filemap_get_read_batch()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: filemap: Handle sibling entries in filemap_get_read_batch() If a read races with an invalidation followed by another read, it is possible for a folio to be replaced with a higher-order folio. If that happens, we'll see a sibling entry for the new folio in the next iteration of the loop. This manifests as a NULL pointer dereference while holding the RCU read lock. Handle this by simply returning. The next call will find the new folio and handle it correctly. The other ways of handling this rare race are more complex and it's just not worth it.

net: phy: dp83822: Fix NULL pointer dereference on DP83825 devices

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: phy: dp83822: Fix NULL pointer dereference on DP83825 devices The probe() function is only used for DP83822 and DP83826 PHY, leaving the private data pointer uninitialized for the DP83825 models which causes a NULL pointer dereference in the recently introduced/changed functions dp8382x_config_init() and dp83822_set_wol(). Fix it by copying the MSR[HV] bit from the MSR value we've just read using mfmsr into the value used for RTAS. It seems like we could also fix it using an #ifdef CELL to set MSR[HV], but that doesn't work because it's possible to build a single kernel image that runs on both Cell native and pseries.

When the 'dev' in 'neigh' is NULL, we don't reply the request and just clear it. syzkaller don't provide repro, and I provide a syz repro like: r0 = syz_init_net_socket$bt_sco(0x1f, 0x5, 0x2) ioctl$sock_inet_SIOCSIFFLAGS(r0, 0x8914, &(0x7f0000000180)={'rose0\x00', 0x201}) r1 = syz_init_net_socket$rose(0xb, 0x5, 0x0) bind$rose(r1, &(0x7f00000000c0)=@full={0xb, @dev, @null, 0x0, [@null, @null, @netrom, @netrom, @default, @null]}, 0x40) connect$rose(r1, &(0x7f0000000240)=@short={0xb, @dev={0xbb, 0xbb, 0xbb, 0x1, 0x0}, @remote={0xcc, 0xcc, 0xcc, 0xcc, 0xcc, 0xcc, 0x1}, 0x1, @netrom={0xbb, 0xbb, 0xbb, 0xbb, 0xbb, 0x0, 0x0}}, 0x1c)

pcmcia: Add error handling for add_interval() in do_validate_mem()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pcmcia: Add error handling for add_interval() in do_validate_mem() In the do_validate_mem(), the call to add_interval() does not handle errors. If kmalloc() fails in add_interval(), it could result in a null pointer being inserted into the linked list, leading to illegal memory access when sub_interval() is called next. This patch adds an error handling for the add_interval(). If add_interval() returns an error, the function will return early with the error code.

locking/csd_lock: Change csdlock_debug from early_param to __setup

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: locking/csd_lock: Change csdlock_debug from early_param to __setup The csdlock_debug kernel-boot parameter is parsed by the early_param() function csdlock_debug(). If set, csdlock_debug() invokes static_branch_enable() to enable csd_lock_wait feature, which triggers a panic on arm64 for kernels built with CONFIG_SPARSEMEM=y and CONFIG_SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=n. With CONFIG_SPARSEMEM_VMEMMAP=n, __nr_to_section is called in static_key_enable() and returns NULL, resulting in a NULL dereference because mem_section is initialized only later in sparse_init(). This is also a problem for powerpc because early_param() functions are invoked earlier than jump_label_init(), also resulting in static_key_enable() failures. These failures cause the warning "static key 'xxx' used before call to jump_label_init()". Thus, early_param is too early for csd_lock_wait to run static_branch_enable(), so changes it to __setup to fix these.

KVM: Don't null dereference ops->destroy

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: Don't null dereference ops->destroy A KVM device cleanup happens in either of two callbacks: 1) destroy() which is called when the VM is being destroyed; 2) release() which is called when a device fd is closed. Most KVM devices use 1) but Book3s's interrupt controller KVM devices (XICS, XIVE, XIVE-native) use 2) as they need to close and reopen during the machine execution. The error handling in kvm_ioctl_create_device() assumes destroy() is always defined which leads to NULL dereference as discovered by Syzkaller. This adds a checks for destroy!=NULL and adds a missing release(). This is not changing kvm_destroy_devices() as devices with defined release() should have been removed from the KVM devices list by then.

net: tap: NULL pointer derefence in dev_parse_header_protocol when skb->dev is null

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: tap: NULL pointer derefence in dev_parse_header_protocol when skb->dev is null Fixes a NULL pointer derefence bug triggered from tap driver. When tap_get_user calls virtio_net_hdr_to_skb the skb->dev is null (in tap.c skb->dev is set after the call to virtio_net_hdr_to_skb) virtio_net_hdr_to_skb calls dev_parse_header_protocol which needs skb->dev field to be valid. The line that trigers the bug is in dev_parse_header_protocol (dev is at offset 0x10 from skb and is stored in RAX register) if (!dev->header_ops || !dev->header_ops->parse_protocol) 22e1: mov 0x10(%rbx),%rax 22e5: mov 0x230(%rax),%rax Setting skb->dev before the call in tap.c fixes the issue. scsi: ibmvfc: Store vhost pointer during subcrq allocation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: ibmvfc: Store vhost pointer during subcrq allocation Currently the back pointer from a queue to the vhost adapter isn't set until after subcrq interrupt registration. The value is available when a queue is first allocated and can/should be also set for primary and async queues as well as subcrqs. This fixes a crash observed during kexec/kdump on Power 9 with legacy XICS interrupt controller where a pending subcrq interrupt from the previous kernel can be replayed immediately upon IRQ registration resulting in dereference of a garbage backpointer in ibmvfc_interrupt_scsi(). ASoC: rt711-sdca: fix kernel NULL pointer dereference when IO error

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: rt711-sdca: fix kernel NULL pointer dereference when IO error The initial settings will be written before the codec probe function. But, the rt711->component doesn't be assigned yet. If IO error happened during initial settings operations, it will cause the kernel panic. This patch changed component->dev to slave->dev to fix this issue.

ASoC: SOF: Intel: cnl: Do not process IPC reply before firmware boot

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: SOF: Intel: cnl: Do not process IPC reply before firmware boot It is not yet clear, but it is possible to create a firmware so broken that it will send a reply message before a FW_READY message (it is not yet clear if FW_READY will arrive later). Since the reply_data is allocated only after the FW_READY message, this will lead to a NULL pointer dereference if not filtered out. The issue was reported with IPC4 firmware but the same condition is present for IPC3.
