net: macb: Shuffle the tx ring before enabling tx

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: macb: Shuffle the tx ring before enabling tx Quanyang observed that when using an NFS rootfs on an AMD ZynqMp board, the rootfs may take an extended time to recover after a suspend. Upon investigation, it was determined that the issue originates from a problem in the macb driver. According to the Zynq UltraScale TRM [1], when transmit is disabled, the transmit buffer queue pointer resets to point to the address specified by the transmit buffer queue base address register. In the current implementation, the code merely resets `queue->tx_head` and `queue->tx_tail` to '0'. This approach presents several issues: - Packets already queued in the tx ring are silently lost, leading to memory leaks since the associated skbs cannot be released. - Concurrent write access to `queue->tx_head` and `queue->tx_tail` may occur from `macb_tx_poll()` or `macb_start_xmit()` when these values are reset to '0'. - The transmission may become stuck on a packet that has already been sent out, with its 'TX_USED' bit set, but has not yet been processed. However, due to the manipulation of 'queue->tx_head' and 'queue->tx_tail', `macb_tx_poll()` incorrectly assumes there are no packets to handle because `queue->tx_head == queue->tx_tail`. This issue is only resolved when a new packet is placed at this position. This is the root cause of the prolonged recovery time observed for the NFS root filesystem. To resolve this issue, shuffle the tx ring and tx skb array so that the first unsent packet is positioned at the start of the tx ring. Additionally, ensure that updates to `queue->tx_head` and `queue->tx_tail` are properly protected with the appropriate lock. [1] https://docs.amd.com/v/u/en-US/ug1085-zynq-ultrascale-trm

ext4: fix memory leak in ext4_fill_super

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix memory leak in ext4_fill_super Buffer head references must be released before calling kill_bdev(); otherwise the buffer head (and its page referenced by b_data) will not be freed by kill_bdev, and subsequently that bh will be leaked. If blocksizes differ, sb_set_blocksize() will kill current buffers and page cache by using kill_bdev(). And then super block will be reread again but using correct blocksize this time. sb_set_blocksize() didn't fully free superblock page and buffer head, and being busy, they were not freed and instead leaked. This can easily be reproduced by calling an infinite loop of: systemctl start <ext4_on_lvm>.mount, and systemctl stop <ext4_on_lvm>.mount ... since systemd creates a cgroup for each slice which it mounts, and the bh leak get amplified by a dying memory cgroup that also never gets freed, and memory consumption is much more easily noticed.

net: hamradio: fix memory leak in mkiss_close

RDMA/cma: Fix listener leak in rdma_cma_listen_on_all() failure

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/cma: Fix listener leak in rdma_cma_listen_on_all() failure If cma_listen_on_all() fails it leaves the per-device ID still on the listen_list but the state is not set to RDMA_CM_ADDR_BOUND. When the cmid is eventually destroyed cma_cancel_listens() is not called due to the wrong state, however the per-device IDs are still holding the refcount preventing the ID from being destroyed, thus deadlocking: task:rping state:D stack: 0 pid:19605 ppid: 47036 flags:0x00000084 Call Trace: __schedule+0x29a/0x780 ? free_unref_page_commit+0x9b/0x110 schedule+0x3c/0xa0 schedule_timeout+0x215/0x2b0 ? __flush_work+0x19e/0x1e0 wait_for_completion+0x8d/0xf0 _destroy_id+0x144/0x210 [rdma_cm] ucma_close_id+0x2b/0x40 [rdma_ucm] __destroy_id+0x93/0x2c0 [rdma_ucm] ? __xa_erase+0x4a/0xa0 ucma_destroy_id+0x9a/0x120 [rdma_ucm] ucma_write+0xb8/0x130 [rdma_ucm] vfs_write+0xb4/0x250 ksys_write+0xb5/0xd0 ? syscall_trace_enter.isra.19+0x123/0x190 do_syscall_64+0x33/0x40 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xa9 Ensure that cma_listen_on_all() atomically unwinds its action under the lock during error.

ASoC: stm32: sai: fix OF node leak on probe

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: stm32: sai: fix OF node leak on probe The reference taken to the sync provider OF node when probing the platform device is currently only dropped if the set_sync() callback fails during DAI probe. Make sure to drop the reference on platform probe failures (e.g. probe deferral) and on driver unbind. This also avoids a potential use-after-free in case the DAI is ever reprobed without first rebinding the platform driver.

wifi: rtlwifi: fix memory leaks and invalid access at probe error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: rtlwifi: fix memory leaks and invalid access at probe error path Deinitialize at reverse order when probe fails. When init_sw_vars fails, rtl_deinit_core should not be called, specially now that it destroys the rtl_wq workqueue. And call rtl_pci_deinit and deinit_sw_vars, otherwise, memory will be leaked. Remove pci_set_drvdata call as it will already be cleaned up by the core driver code and could lead to memory leaks too. cf. commit 8d450935ae7f ("wireless: rtlwifi: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()") and commit 3d86b93064c7 ("rtlwifi: Fix PCI probe error path orphaned memory").

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: pi433: fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup() When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md/raid10: fix leak of 'r10bio->remaining' for recovery raid10_sync_request() will add 'r10bio->remaining' for both rdev and replacement rdev. However, if the read io fails, recovery_request_write() returns without issuing the write io, in this case, end_sync_request() is only called once and 'remaining' is leaked, cause an io hang. Fix the problem by decreasing 'remaining' according to if 'bio' and 'repl_bio' is valid.

net/mlx5e: fix memory leak in mlx5e_fs_tt_redirect_any_create

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mlx5e: fix memory leak in mlx5e_fs_tt_redirect_any_create The memory pointed to by the fs->any pointer is not freed in the error path of mlx5e_fs_tt_redirect_any_create, which can lead to a memory leak. Fix by freeing the memory in the error path, thereby making the error path identical to mlx5e_fs_tt_redirect_any_destroy().

netfs/fscache: Add a memory barrier for FSCACHE_VOLUME_CREATING

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfs/fscache: Add a memory barrier for FSCACHE_VOLUME_CREATING In fscache_create_volume(), there is a missing memory barrier between the bit-clearing operation and the wake-up operation. This may cause a situation where, after a wake-up, the bit-clearing operation hasn't been detected yet, leading to an indefinite wait. The triggering process is as follows: [cookie1] [cookie2] [volume_work] fscache_perform_lookup fscache_create_volume fscache_perform_lookup fscache_create_volume fscache_create_volume_work cachefiles_acquire_volume clear_and_wake_up_bit test_and_set_bit test_and_set_bit goto maybe_wait goto no_wait In the above process, cookie1 and cookie2 has the same volume. When cookie1 enters the -no_wait- process, it will clear the bit and wake up the waiting process. If a barrier is missing, it may cause cookie2 to remain in the -wait- process indefinitely. In commit 3288666c7256 ("fscache: Use clear_and_wake_up_bit() in fscache_create_volume_work()"), barriers were added to similar operations in fscache_create_volume_work(), but fscache_create_volume() was missed. By combining the clear and wake operations into clear_and_wake_up_bit() to fix this issue.

udmabuf: fix memory leak on last export_udmabuf() error path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: udmabuf: fix memory leak on last export_udmabuf() error path In export_udmabuf(), if dma_buf_fd() fails because the FD table is full, a dma_buf owning the udmabuf has already been created; but the error handling in udmabuf_create() will tear down the udmabuf without doing anything about the containing dma_buf. This leaves a dma_buf in memory that contains a dangling pointer; though that doesn't seem to lead to anything bad except a memory leak. Fix it by moving the dma_buf_fd() call out of export_udmabuf() so that we can give it different error handling. Note that the shape of this code changed a lot in commit 5e72b2b41a21 ("udmabuf: convert udmabuf driver to use folios"); but the memory leak seems to have existed since the introduction of udmabuf.

tcp: fix skb_copy_ubufs() vs BIG TCP

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tcp: fix skb_copy_ubufs() vs BIG TCP David Ahern reported crashes in skb_copy_ubufs() caused by TCP tx zerocopy using hugepages, and skb length bigger than ~68 KB. skb_copy_ubufs() assumed it could copy all payload using up to MAX_SKB_FRAGS order-0 pages. This assumption broke when BIG TCP was able to put up to 512 KB per skb. We did not hit this bug at Google because we use CONFIG_MAX_SKB_FRAGS=45 and limit gso_max_size to 180000. A solution is to use higher order pages if needed. v2: add missing __GFP_COMP, or we leak memory.

tun: Fix memory leak for detached NAPI queue.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tun: Fix memory leak for detached NAPI queue. syzkaller reported [0] memory leaks of sk and skb related to the TUN device with no repro, but we can reproduce it easily with: struct ifreq ifr = {} int fd_tun, fd_tmp; char buf[4] = {}; fd_tun = openat(AT_FDCWD, "/dev/net/tun", O_WRONLY, 0); ifr.ifr_flags = IFF_TUN | IFF_NAPI | IFF_MULTI_QUEUE; ioctl(fd_tun, TUNSETIFF, &ifr); ifr.ifr_flags = IFF_DETACH_QUEUE; ioctl(fd_tun, TUNSETQUEUE, &ifr); fd_tmp = socket(AF_PACKET, SOCK_PACKET, 0); ifr.ifr_flags = IFF_UP; ioctl(fd_tmp, SIOCSIFFLAGS, &ifr); write(fd_tun, buf, sizeof(buf)); close(fd_tun); If we enable NAPI and multi-queue on a TUN device, we can put skb into tfile->sk.sk_write_queue after the queue is detached. We should prevent it by checking tfile->detached before queuing skb. Note this must be done under tfile->sk.sk_write_queue.lock because write() and ioctl(IFF_DETACH_QUEUE) can run concurrently. Otherwise, there would be a small race window: write() ioctl(IFF_DETACH_QUEUE) `- tun_get_user `- __tun_detach |- if (tfile->detached) |- tun_disable_queue | `-> false | `- tfile->detached = tun | `- tun_queue_purge |- spin_lock_bh(&queue->lock) `- __skb_queue_tail(queue, skb) Another solution is to call tun_queue_purge() when closing and reattaching the detached queue, but it could paper over another problems. Also, we do the same kind of test for IFF_NAPI_FRAGS. PCI: Fix reset_method_store() memory leak

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: Fix reset_method_store() memory leak In reset_method_store(), a string is allocated via kstrndup() and assigned to the local "options". options is then used in with strsep() to find spaces: while ((name = strsep(&options, " ")) != NULL) { If there are no remaining spaces, then options is set to NULL by strsep(), so the subsequent kfree(options) doesn't free the memory allocated via kstrndup(). Fix by using a separate tmp_options to iterate with strsep() so options is preserved.

wifi: ath11k: Fix SKB corruption in REO destination ring

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: Fix SKB corruption in REO destination ring While running traffics for a long time, randomly an RX descriptor filled with value "0" from REO destination ring is received. This descriptor which is invalid causes the wrong SKB (SKB stored in the IDR lookup with buffer id "0") to be fetched which in turn causes SKB memory corruption issue and the same leads to crash after some time. Changed the start id for idr allocation to "1" and the buffer id "0" is reserved for error validation. Introduced Sanity check to validate the descriptor, before processing the SKB. Crash Signature : Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 3f004900 PC points to "b15_dma_inv_range+0x30/0x50" LR points to "dma_cache_maint_page+0x8c/0x128". io_uring: fix fget leak when fs don't support nowait buffered read

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io_uring: fix fget leak when fs don't support nowait buffered read Heming reported a BUG when using io_uring doing link-cp on ocfs2. [1] Do the following steps can reproduce this BUG: mount -t ocfs2 /dev/vdc /mnt/ocfs2 cp testfile /mnt/ocfs2/ ./link-cp /mnt/ocfs2/testfile /mnt/ocfs2/testfile.1 umount /mnt/ocfs2 Then umount will fail, and it outputs: umount: /mnt/ocfs2: target is busy. While tracing umount, it blames mnt_get_count() not return as expected. Do a deep investigation for fget()/fput() on related code flow, I've finally found that fget() leaks since ocfs2 doesn't support nowait buffered read. io_issue_sqe |-io_assign_file // do fget() first |-io_read |-io_iter_do_read |-ocfs2_file_read_iter // return -EOPNOTSUPP |-kiocb_done |-io_rw_done |-__io_complete_rw_common // set REQ_F_REISSUE |-io_resubmit_prep |-io_req_prep_async // override req->file, leak happens This was introduced by commit a196c78b5443 in v5.18. Fix it by don't re-assign req->file if it has already been assigned. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/ocfs2-devel/ab580a75-91c8-d68a-3455-40361be1bfa8@linux.alibaba.com/T/#t
