NanaZip: Heap out-of-bounds read in NanaZip AVB property descriptor parser via unsigned integer underflow

NanaZip is the 7-Zip derivative intended for the modern Windows experience. From version 3.0.1000.0 to before version 6.0.1698.0, a heap out-of-bounds read exists in the Android Verified Boot (AVB) vbmeta image parser in NanaZip (via the upstream 7-Zip AvbHandler). An unsigned integer underflow in a bounds check allows an attacker-controlled value_num_bytes field to pass validation, causing AddNameToString to read up to ~4 GiB past the end of a 64 KiB heap buffer. This causes a deterministic crash (denial of service) when opening a crafted .avb or .img file. This issue has been patched in stable version 6.0.1698.0 and preview version 6.5.1742.0.

NanaZip: Heap out-of-bounds read in NanaZip AVB hashtree descriptor parser via 32-bit unsigned integer overflow

A 32-bit unsigned integer overflow in the bounds check pos + ht.salt_len > descSize allows an attacker-controlled salt_len field to bypass validation, causing CByteBuffer::CopyFrom to memcpy up to ~4 GiB past the end of a 64. This issue has been patched in stable version 6.0.1698.0 and preview version 6.5.1742.0.

NanaZip: Heap buffer-overflow read in NanaZip LVM metadata CRC check

NanaZip is the 7-Zip derivative intended for the modern Windows experience. NanaZip: Stack out-of-bounds read in NanaZip ZealFS bitmap parser

NanaZip is an open source file archive. From 5.0.1252.0 to before 6.0.1698.0, a stack-based out-of-bounds read exists in the ZealFS filesystem image parser in NanaZip. The vulnerability is triggered when opening a crafted ZealFS v1 filesystem image. An attacker-controlled BitmapSize field in the file header drives an unbounded loop that reads past the end of a stack-allocated ZEALFS_V1_HEADER structure. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.0.1698.0.

NanaZip .NET Single-File Parser Integer Underflow Leads to Unbounded Allocation (DoS)

NanaZip is an open source file archive. Starting in version 5.0.1252.0 and prior to versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0, a denial-of-service vulnerability exists in NanaZip’s `.NET Single File Application` parser. A crafted bundle can force an integer underflow in header-size calculation and trigger an unbounded memory allocation attempt during archive open. Versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0 fix the issue.

NanaZip UFS Archive Parser Memory Corruption via Unvalidated Directory Record Length

NanaZip is an open source file archive. Starting in version 5.0.1252.0 and prior to versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0, a memory corruption vulnerability in NanaZip’s UFS parser allows a crafted `.ufs/.ufs2/.img` file to trigger out-of-bounds memory access during archive open/listing. The bug is reachable via normal user file-open flow and can cause process crash, hang, and potentially exploitable heap corruption. Versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0 fix the issue.

NanaZip .NET Single-File Manifest Parser Vulnerable to Out-of-Bounds Read via Unchecked RelativePathLength

NanaZip is an open source file archive. Starting in version 5.0.1252.0 and prior to versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0, NanaZip’s `.NET Single File Application` parser has an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in manifest parsing. A crafted bundle can provide a malformed `RelativePathLength` so the parser constructs a `std::string` from memory beyond `HeaderBuffer`, leading to crash and potential in-process memory disclosure. Versions 6.0.1638.0 and 6.5.1638.0 fix the issue.

A flaw was found in the hivex library in versions before 1.3.20. It is caused due to a lack of bounds check within the hivex_open function. An attacker could input a specially crafted Windows Registry (hive) file which would cause hivex to read memory beyond its normal bounds or cause the program to crash. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.

Out-of-bounds read in FFmpeg 8.0 and 8.0.1 RV60 video decoder (libavcodec/rv60dec.c). The quantization parameter (qp) validation at line 2267 only checks the lower bound (qp < 0) but is missing upper bound validation. The qp value can reach 65 (base value 63 from 6-bit frame header + offset +2 from read_qp_offset) while the rv60_qp_to_idx array has size 64 (valid indices 0-63). This results in out-of-bounds array access at lines 1554 (decode_cbp8), 1655 (decode_cbp16), and 1419/1421 (get_c4x4_set), potentially leading to memory disclosure or crash. A previous fix in commit 61cbcaf93f added validation only for intra frames. This vulnerability affects the released versions 8.0 (released 2025-08-22) and 8.0.1 (released 2025-11-20) and is fixed in git master commit 8abeb879df which will be included in FFmpeg 8.1.

Cap'n Proto vulnerable to out-of-bounds read due to logic error handling list-of-list.

Cap'n Proto is a data interchange format and remote procedure call (RPC) system. Cap'n Proro prior to versions 0.7.1, 0.8.1, 0.9.2, and 0.10.3, as well as versions of Cap'n Proto's Rust implementation prior to 0.13.7, 0.14.11, and 0.15.2 are vulnerable to out-of-bounds read due to logic error handling list-of-list. This issue may lead someone to remotely segfault a peer by sending it a malicious message, if the victim performs certain actions on a list-of-pointer type. Exfiltration of memory is possible if the victim performs additional certain actions on a list-of-pointer type. To be vulnerable, an application must perform a specific sequence of actions, described in the GitHub Security Advisory. The bug is present in inlined code, therefore the fix will require rebuilding dependent applications. Cap'n Proto has C++ fixes available in versions 0.7.1, 0.8.1, 0.9.2, and 0.10.3. The `capnp` Rust crate has fixes available in versions 0.13.7, 0.14.11, and 0.15.2.
