mint buffers an entire chunked response chunk in memory in Mint.HTTP1.decode_body/5

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in elixir-mint mint (Mint.HTTP1 module) allows a denial of service via an oversized chunked transfer-encoded response. This vulnerability is associated with program files lib/mint/http1.ex and program routines 'Elixir.Mint.HTTP1':decode_body/5, 'Elixir.Mint.HTTP1':add_body_to_buffer/2. When Mint decodes a chunked HTTP response body, it accumulates each partial fragment of the current chunk in the connection's data_buffer (an unbounded iolist) via add_body_to_buffer/2 and does not emit the data to the caller until the full declared chunk length has been received. The chunk size is taken directly from the server and parsed with no upper bound, so a malicious or compromised server can announce one enormous chunk (for example a size line of 7FFFFFFF, about 2 GiB) and then send the body bytes slowly without ever completing the chunk. The client buffers every received byte while it waits for a completion that never arrives, and because no data responses are produced until the chunk finishes, a caller that otherwise streams large content-length bodies safely gains no protection. An unauthenticated remote server (reachable whenever a client follows redirects, fetches user-supplied URLs, or processes webhooks) can drive the client's memory arbitrarily high and trigger an out-of-memory condition. This issue affects mint: from 0.5.0 before 1.9.1.

Unauthenticated denial-of-service via unbounded HPACK integer decoding in hpax

Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity vulnerability in elixir-mint hpax allows unauthenticated denial-of-service via unbounded HPACK integer decoding. hpax decodes HPACK variable-length integers with no upper bound on the decoded value or the number of continuation octets. 'Elixir.HPAX.Types':decode_remaining_integer/3 accumulates the integer as int + (value <<< m), shifting by 7 more bits for each continuation octet and stopping only on a terminating octet or truncated input, never because the integer grew too large. Because BEAM integers are arbitrary precision, a run of N continuation octets builds an O(N)-bit bignum and re-adds into an ever-larger bignum on each step, so the total decoding cost is superlinear (about O(N^2)). An unauthenticated attacker who can send an HTTP/2 header block to a server using this decoder (reached through the 'Elixir.HPAX':decode/2 entry point) can supply a small header block that forces a large, attacker-controlled amount of CPU (and transient memory), a denial-of-service amplification. This issue affects hpax from 0.1.1 before 1.0.4.

Zero-length HTTP/2 CONTINUATION frames bypass Mint's header-block byte-size cap and exhaust client memory

Allocation of resources without limits vulnerability in elixir-mint mint allows a remote HTTP/2 server to exhaust memory on the client host and cause a denial of service. The Mint.HTTP2.handle_continuation/3 function in lib/mint/http2.ex accumulates the header-block fragment carried by each HTTP/2 CONTINUATION frame into a growing conn.headers_being_processed nesting, one level deeper per frame, and only releases it when a frame with the END_HEADERS flag arrives. The only guard on this accumulator is Mint.HTTP2.assert_header_block_within_max_size/2, which sums the byte size of the fragments received so far. Because a CONTINUATION frame is permitted by the protocol to carry a zero-length payload, an unbounded chain of zero-length CONTINUATION frames adds no bytes to the running total, never trips the size cap, and never emits END_HEADERS, yet each frame still nests the accumulator one level deeper. A malicious HTTP/2 server (reachable directly, via an attacker-controlled redirect, via SSRF, or via a man-in-the-middle) can open a stream by sending a HEADERS frame without END_HEADERS and then stream zero-length CONTINUATION frames indefinitely. Client memory grows one cons cell per frame received; sustained bandwidth from the peer drives the BEAM node running the Mint client to memory exhaustion and eventual out-of-memory termination. This issue affects mint: from 0.1.0 before 1.9.2.

HTTP/2 CONTINUATION flood in Mint client via unbounded header-block accumulation

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in elixir-mint Mint allows attacker-controlled HTTP/2 servers to exhaust memory in a Mint client (HTTP/2 CONTINUATION flood). When Mint's HTTP/2 receive path observes a HEADERS frame without the END_HEADERS flag, the unparsed header-block fragment is parked in conn.headers_being_processed, and every subsequent CONTINUATION frame on that stream is appended to the accumulator. Nothing in the receive path caps the accumulator: there is no per-stream size limit, no CONTINUATION frame-count limit, and max_header_list_size is only enforced on outgoing requests, never on inbound header blocks (its default is :infinity). A malicious or compromised HTTP/2 server can stream an endless sequence of CONTINUATION frames (each up to the peer-advertised SETTINGS_MAX_FRAME_SIZE) and drive the client's iolist to arbitrary size, causing memory exhaustion and BEAM process death. A single connection to an attacker-controlled HTTP/2 endpoint is sufficient. This issue affects mint: from 0.1.0 before 1.9.0.

Unbounded conn.streams growth in Mint HTTP/2 client via unenforced PUSH_PROMISE concurrency

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in elixir-mint Mint allows attacker-controlled HTTP/2 servers to exhaust memory in a Mint client via PUSH_PROMISE flooding. In lib/mint/http2.ex, Mint.HTTP2.decode_push_promise_headers_and_add_response/5 inserts a :reserved_remote entry into conn.streams for every promised stream ID. The neighbouring Mint.HTTP2.assert_valid_promised_stream_id/2 only verifies that the promised ID is even and not already present; client_settings.max_concurrent_streams is not consulted at promise time. The concurrency cap is only checked when the response HEADERS for the promised stream arrive, so a server that emits PUSH_PROMISE frames and withholds the matching HEADERS never trips that check. HTTP/2 server push is accepted by default (client_settings.enable_push defaults to true). A single long-lived HTTP/2 connection to a hostile server lets that server pin one conn.streams entry per PUSH_PROMISE frame it sends, with no upper bound, until the client process runs out of memory. This issue affects mint: from 0.2.0 before 1.9.0.

Unbounded HTTP/1 response-header and chunked-trailer accumulation in Mint causes memory-exhaustion DoS

Allocation of resources without limits vulnerability in elixir-mint mint allows a remote HTTP server to exhaust memory on the client host and cause a denial of service. The Mint.HTTP1.decode_headers/5 and Mint.HTTP1.decode_trailer_headers/4 functions in lib/mint/http1.ex accumulate every parsed response header and chunked-trailer field into a per-request list that persists across incoming TCP segments as request.headers_buffer, and only clear it when the terminating blank line is received. The section has no cap on the number of headers or on total bytes, and the underlying :erlang.decode_packet(:httph_bin, binary, []) parser is invoked with an empty option list so its per-line and per-packet size limits also default to unlimited. A malicious HTTP server (reachable directly, via an attacker-controlled redirect, via SSRF, or via a man-in-the-middle) can stream complete header lines (or, after a chunked body, complete trailer lines) indefinitely without ever emitting the terminating blank line. The connection state grows without bound until the BEAM node is killed by the operating system's out-of-memory handler, taking down the entire application that uses Mint as an HTTP client. This issue affects mint: from 0.1.0 before 1.9.2.

XWiki's REST APIs don't enforce any limits, leading to unavailability and OOM in large wikis

XWiki is an open-source wiki software platform. Versions 16.10.10 and below, 17.0.0-rc-1 through 17.4.3 and 17.5.0-rc-1 through 17.6.0 contain a REST API which doesn't enforce any limits for the number of items that can be requested in a single request at the moment. Depending on the number of pages in the wiki and the memory configuration, this can lead to slowness and unavailability of the wiki. As an example, the /rest/wikis/xwiki/spaces resource returns all spaces on the wiki by default, which are basically all pages. This issue is fixed in versions 17.4.4 and 16.10.11.

Eclipse Wakaama CoAP Block1 Handler Unbounded Memory Allocation DoS

Eclipse Wakaama before snapshot/2026-05-26 contains an unbounded memory allocation vulnerability in the CoAP Block1 handler within coap/block.c that allows unauthenticated remote attackers to exhaust server memory by sending a sequence of Block1 PUT requests with incrementing block numbers. Vision UI security-kit.js: Potential Uncontrolled Resource Allocation Vulnerability

Vision UI is a collection of enterprise-grade, dependency-free modules for modern web projects. In versions 1.4.0 and below, the generateSecureId and getSecureRandomInt functions in security-kit versions prior to 3.5.0 (packaged in Vision UI 1.4.0 and below) are vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. The generateSecureId(length) function directly used the length parameter to size a Uint8Array buffer, allowing attackers to exhaust server memory through repeated requests for large IDs since the previous 1024 limit was insufficient. The getSecureRandomInt(min, max) function calculated buffer size based on the range between min and max, where large ranges caused excessive memory allocation and CPU-intensive rejection-sampling loops that could hang the thread. This issue is fixed in version 1.5.0.

Unbounded request body accumulation causes memory exhaustion in elixir-grpc/grpc

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in elixir-grpc grpc allows unauthenticated attackers to exhaust the BEAM's memory and crash the server by streaming a large or slow-trickle unary request body. 'Elixir.GRPC.Server.Adapters.Cowboy.Handler':read_full_body/3 (lib/grpc/server/adapters/cowboy/handler.ex) accumulates every received chunk into a single growing binary with no size cap. Additionally, when the client omits the grpc-timeout header, the per-chunk read timeout resolves to :infinity, allowing a slow-trickle client to keep the connection alive indefinitely while memory grows. A single connection is sufficient to exhaust server memory and crash the node. This issue affects grpc from 0.3.1 before 1.0.0.

Chall-Manager's HTTP Gateway have no header check timeout leading to potential slow loris attacks

Chall-Manager is a platform-agnostic system able to start Challenges on Demand of a player. The HTTP Gateway processes headers, but with no timeout set. With a slow loris attack, an attacker could cause Denial of Service (DoS). Exploitation does not require authentication nor authorization, so anyone can exploit it. It should nonetheless not be exploitable as it is highly recommended to bury Chall-Manager deep within the infrastructure due to its large capabilities, so no users could reach the system. Patch has been implemented by commit 1385bd8 and shipped in v0.1.4.

Phoenix transports do not limit channel joins per connection, enabling process-exhaustion denial of service

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in phoenixframework phoenix (Phoenix.Socket module) allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a denial of service against any endpoint that mounts a Phoenix socket with a reachable channel transport (WebSocket or LongPoll). This vulnerability is associated with program files lib/phoenix/socket.ex and program routine 'Elixir.Phoenix.Socket':handle_in/4. Phoenix transports do not limit the number of channels that a single transport process may join. Every phx_join message a client sends over one connection starts a persistent channel process, and the socket process accepts an unbounded number of them. A single unauthenticated client can therefore open one WebSocket or LongPoll connection and stream a large number of phx_join messages, spawning hundreds of thousands of channel processes over that one connection and eventually reaching the BEAM maximum process limit. Once the process table is exhausted the virtual machine can no longer start new processes, denying service to legitimate traffic across the whole node. Because the amplification happens inside a single connection, network-layer connection caps and rate limiting do not mitigate it. The fix adds a :max_channels_per_transport option (default 100) that bounds the number of channels a single transport process can join, forcing abusive clients to open many connections instead, where external load balancers and reverse proxies can throttle them. This issue affects phoenix: from 0.11.0 before 1.5.15, from 1.6.0-rc.0 before 1.6.17, from 1.7.0-rc.0 before 1.7.24, and from 1.8.0-rc.0 before 1.8.9.

ZEBRA: Permanent Block Discovery Halt via Gossip Queue Saturation and Syncer Poisoning

ZEBRA is a Zcash node written entirely in Rust. Prior to version 4.4.0, a composite denial-of-service vulnerability in Zebra's block discovery pipeline allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to permanently halt all new block discovery on a targeted node. Pillow is vulnerable to a FITS GZIP decompression bomb

Pillow is a Python imaging library. Versions 10.3.0 through 12.1.1 did not limit the amount of GZIP-compressed data read when decoding a FITS image, making them vulnerable to decompression bomb attacks. A specially crafted FITS file could cause unbounded memory consumption, leading to denial of service (OOM crash or severe performance degradation). If users are unable to immediately upgrade, they should only open specific image formats, excluding FITS, as a workaround.

HTTP/1 chunked body reader ignores length cap in bandit

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in mtrudel bandit allows unauthenticated remote denial of service via memory exhaustion. The chunked clause of 'Elixir.Bandit.HTTP1.Socket':read_data/2 in lib/bandit/http1/socket.ex ignores the caller-supplied :length option when reading HTTP/1 chunked request bodies. Instead of capping the accumulated body at the configured limit (e.g. Plug.Parsers' default 8 MB), do_read_chunked_data!/5 buffers every received chunk into an iolist unconditionally and materializes the entire body as a single binary. The function always returns {:ok, body, ...}, so callers cannot interpose a 413 response. Because Plug.Parsers runs before routing and authentication in the standard Phoenix endpoint, an unauthenticated attacker needs no valid route or credentials. Sending a single Transfer-Encoding: chunked POST request with an arbitrarily large body to any path causes the BEAM process to exhaust available memory and be terminated by the OS OOM killer. The content-length path in the same function correctly enforces the limit and is not affected. This issue affects bandit: from 1.4.0 before 1.11.1.

MCP-Framework: Unbounded memory allocation in readRequestBody allows denial of service via HTTP transport

mcp-framework is a framework for building Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. In versions 0.2.21 and below, the readRequestBody() function in the HTTP transport concatenates request body chunks into a string with no size limit. Although a maxMessageSize configuration value exists, it is never enforced in readRequestBody(). A remote unauthenticated attacker can crash any mcp-framework HTTP server by sending a single large POST request to /mcp, causing memory exhaustion and denial of service. This issue has been fixed in version 0.2.22.

SpdyStream: DOS on CRI

spdystream is a Go library for multiplexing streams over SPDY connections. In versions 0.5.0 and below, the SPDY/3 frame parser does not validate attacker-controlled counts and lengths before allocating memory. Three allocation paths are affected: the SETTINGS frame entry count, the header count in parseHeaderValueBlock, and individual header field sizes — all read as 32-bit integers and used directly as allocation sizes with no bounds checking. Because SPDY header blocks are zlib-compressed, a small on-the-wire payload can decompress into large attacker-controlled values. A remote peer that can send SPDY frames to a service using spdystream can exhaust process memory and cause an out-of-memory crash with a single crafted control frame. This issue has been fixed in version 0.5.1.

Long-poll NDJSON body splitting causes unbounded memory allocation in Phoenix

Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling vulnerability in phoenixframework phoenix allows a denial of service via the long-poll transport's NDJSON body handling. In 'Elixir.Phoenix.Transports.LongPoll':publish/4, when a POST request is received with Content-Type: application/x-ndjson, the request body is split on newline characters using String.split/2 with no limit on the number of resulting segments. An attacker can send a body consisting entirely of newline bytes, causing a 1:1 amplification into a list of empty binaries — a 1 MB body produces approximately one million list elements, an 8 MB body approximately 8.4 million. Each element is then walked by Enum.map, materializing another list of the same size. This exhausts BEAM memory and schedulers, crashing the node and terminating all active sessions. A session token required to reach the vulnerable endpoint is freely obtainable by any client via an unauthenticated GET request to the same URL with a matching Origin header, making this attack effectively unauthenticated. This issue affects phoenix: from 1.7.0 before 1.7.22 and 1.8.6.

TinyWeb vulnerable to Remote Denial of Service via Thread/Connection Exhaustion (Slowloris)

TinyWeb is a web server (HTTP, HTTPS) written in Delphi for Win32. Versions prior to version 2.02 are vulnerable to a Denial of Service (DoS) attack known as Slowloris. The server spawns a new OS thread for every incoming connection without enforcing a maximum concurrency limit or an appropriate request timeout. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exhaust server concurrency limits and memory by opening numerous connections and sending data exceptionally slowly (e.g. 1 byte every few minutes). Anyone hosting services using TinyWeb is impacted. Version 2.02 fixes the issue. The patch introduces a `CMaxConnections` limit (set to 512) and a `CConnectionTimeoutSecs` idle timeout (set to 30 seconds). As a temporary workaround if upgrading is not immediately possible, consider placing the server behind a robust reverse proxy or Web Application Firewall (WAF) such as nginx, HAProxy, or Cloudflare, configured to buffer incomplete requests and aggressively enforce connection limits and timeouts.

jsPDF Affected by Client-Side/Server-Side Denial of Service via Malicious GIF Dimensions

jsPDF is a library to generate PDFs in JavaScript. Prior to 4.2.0, user control of the first argument of the `addImage` method results in denial of service. If given the possibility to pass unsanitized image data or URLs to the `addImage` method, a user can provide a harmful GIF file that results in out of memory errors and denial of service. Harmful GIF files have large width and/or height entries in their headers, which lead to excessive memory allocation. Other affected methods are: `html`. The vulnerability has been fixed in jsPDF 4.2.0. As a workaround, sanitize image data or URLs before passing it to the addImage method or one of the other affected methods.

Mistune is a Python Markdown parser with renderers and plugins. Prior to 3.3.0, Mistune is vulnerable to a CPU exhaustion DoS due to superlinear (approximately O(n²)) behavior in parse_link_text. When parsing Markdown containing many consecutive [ characters, parse_link_text repeatedly scans the input using a regex search inside a loop. Each iteration re-scans a large portion of the remaining string, resulting in quadratic-time behavior. An attacker-controlled Markdown input can therefore trigger excessive CPU usage with a very small payload. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.3.0.
