CAPEC ID: N/A
Description: A buggy or malicious guest can cause corruption of Xen's state, leading to crashes or other malfunctions. Information leak and privilege escalation cannot be ruled out.
Solutions

Configurations

All Xen versions from 3.4 onwards are vulnerable. Xen versions 3.3 and earlier are not vulnerable. Only x86 systems are vulnerable. Only x86 HVM and PVH guests started in populate-on-demand mode are believed to be able to leverage the vulnerability. Populate-on-demand mode is activated when the guest's xl configuration file specifies a "maxmem" value which is larger than the "memory" value.

Workarounds

Running only PV guests or HVM/PVH guests without PoD will avoid the vulnerability.

ImageMagick has a heap buffer overflow in YUV 4:2:2 decoder

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, a heap buffer overflow write vulnerability exists in ReadYUVImage() (coders/yuv.c) when processing malicious YUV 4:2:2 (NoInterlace) images. The pixel-pair loop writes one pixel beyond the allocated row buffer. Versions 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 contain a patch.

ImageMagick has a heap-buffer-overflow in NewXMLTree which could result in crash

ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to 7.1.2-17 and 6.9.13-42, the NewXMLTree method contains a bug that could result in a crash due to an out of write bounds of a single zero byte. Versions 7.1.2-17 and 6.9.13-42 fix the issue.

FreeRDP has a heap-buffer-overflow in bitmap_cache_put via OOB cacheId

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, a client-side heap out-of-bounds read/write occurs in FreeRDP's bitmap cache subsystem due to an off-by-one boundary check in bitmap_cache_put. A malicious server can send a CACHE_BITMAP_ORDER (Rev1) with cacheId equal to maxCells, bypassing the guard and accessing cells[] one element past the allocated array. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0.

FreeRDP has a heap-buffer-overflow in avc420_yuv_to_rgb via OOB regionRects

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol. Prior to 3.24.0, a client-side heap buffer overflow occurs in the FreeRDP client's AVC420/AVC444 YUV-to-RGB conversion path due to missing horizontal bounds validation of H.264 metablock regionRects coordinates. In yuv.c, the clamp() function (line 347) only validates top/bottom against the surface/YUV height, but never checks left/right against the surface width. When avc420_yuv_to_rgb (line 67) computes destination and source pointers using rect->left, it performs unchecked pointer arithmetic that can reach far beyond the allocated surface buffer. A malicious server sends a WIRE_TO_SURFACE_PDU_1 with AVC420 codec containing a regionRects entry where left greatly exceeds the surface width (e.g., left=60000 on a 128px surface). The H.264 bitstream decodes successfully, then yuv420_process_work_callback calls avc420_yuv_to_rgb which computes pDstPoint = pDstData + rect->top * nDstStep + rect->left * 4, writing 16-byte SSE vectors 1888+ bytes past the allocated heap region. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.24.0.

Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved: A specific BGP UPDATE message will cause a crash in the backup Routing Engine in NSR-enabled devices

A Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability in the Routing Protocol Daemon (RPD) of Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows an unauthenticated, network based attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). If an attacker sends a specific BGP UPDATE message to the device, this will cause a memory overwrite and therefore an RPD crash and restart in the backup Routing Engine (RE). Continued receipt of these packets will cause a sustained Denial of Service (DoS) condition in the backup RE. The primary RE is not impacted by this issue and there is no impact on traffic. This issue only affects devices with NSR enabled. Note: NSR is not supported on the SRX Series and is therefore not affected by this vulnerability. This issue requires an attacker to have an established BGP session to a system affected by the issue. This issue affects both eBGP and iBGP implementations. This issue affects: Juniper Networks Junos OS * All versions earlier than 20.4R3-S9; * 21.2 versions earlier than 21.2R3-S7; * 21.3 versions earlier than 21.3R3-S5; * 21.4 versions earlier than 21.4R3-S5; * 22.1 versions earlier than 22.1R3-S4; * 22.2 versions earlier than 22.2R3-S2; * 22.3 versions earlier than 22.3R3-S1; * 22.4 versions earlier than 22.4R2-S2, 22.4R3; * 23.1 versions earlier than 23.1R2; * 23.2 versions earlier than 23.2R1-S2, 23.2R2. Invalid offset validation leading to Out Of Bound Write in FreeRDP

FreeRDP is a free implementation of the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), released under the Apache license. Affected versions are subject to an invalid offset validation leading to Out Of Bound Write. This can be triggered when the values `rect->left` and `rect->top` are exactly equal to `surface->width` and `surface->height`. eg. `rect->left` == `surface->width` && `rect->top` == `surface->height`. In practice this should cause a crash. This issue has been addressed in versions 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

comedi: dt9812: fix DMA buffers on stack

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: comedi: dt9812: fix DMA buffers on stack USB transfer buffers are typically mapped for DMA and must not be allocated on the stack or transfers will fail. Allocate proper transfer buffers in the various command helpers and return an error on short transfers instead of acting on random stack data. Note that this also fixes a stack info leak on systems where DMA is not used as 32 bytes are always sent to the device regardless of how short the command is.
