SiYuan before v3.7.2 Cross-Site Scripting to RCE

SiYuan before v3.7.2 contains a cross-site scripting vulnerability in the siyuan:// protocol handler. When a siyuan://plugins/<name> link references a name that is not an installed plugin, the application opens a custom tab and inserts the link's icon parameter into the tab header via innerHTML without escaping it (app/src/layout/Tab.ts), allowing injection of an <img onerror=...> element. Because the SiYuan Desktop renderer runs with nodeIntegration:true, the injected JavaScript can access Node's require and call require('child_process').execSync(...), escalating the cross-site scripting into arbitrary operating-system command execution.

SiYuan before v3.7.2 Stored XSS to RCE via Attribute View

SiYuan before v3.7.2 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability in Attribute View (database) cell rendering. A Template column value is rendered as HTML via text/template without auto-escaping, and EscapeHTML is only applied when HasUnclosedHtmlTag returns true; because balanced self-closing tags such as <img> are skipped by that check, a payload like <img src=x onerror=...> is stored unescaped and later inserted into the page via innerHTML, executing when the database is viewed. Because the desktop renderer runs with nodeIntegration enabled, the injected script can reach require and escalate to arbitrary command execution.

SiYuan: Stored XSS via Attribute View name to Electron renderer RCE in SiYuan

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, the kernel stores Attribute View (AV / database) names without any HTML escape, then a render template uses raw strings.ReplaceAll(tpl, "${avName}", nodeAvName) to embed the name in HTML before pushing to all clients via WebSocket. Three independent client paths (render.ts:120 → outerHTML, Title.ts:401 → innerHTML, transaction.ts:559 → innerHTML) consume the value without escaping. Because the main BrowserWindow runs nodeIntegration:true, contextIsolation:false, webSecurity:false (app/electron/main.js:407-411), HTML injection in the renderer becomes Node.js code execution. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan vulnerable to Stored XSS / RCE via `setBlockAttrs` icon attribute

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Versions prior to 3.5.4 have a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability that allows an attacker to inject arbitrary HTML attributes into the `icon` attribute of a block via the `/api/attr/setBlockAttrs` API. The payload is later rendered in the dynamic icon feature in an unsanitized context, leading to stored XSS and, in the desktop environment, potential remote code execution (RCE). This issue bypasses the previous fix for issue `#15970` (XSS → RCE via dynamic icons). Version 3.5.4 contains an updated fix.

SiYuan Desktop before v3.7.2 Reflected XSS to RCE via siyuan Protocol

SiYuan desktop before v3.7.2 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in the bazaar plugin readme handler that allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by crafting a malicious siyuan:// deep link. Attackers can inject HTML payloads via the plugin name parameter that execute with full Node.js access through insertAdjacentHTML rendering in an insecurely configured Electron renderer.

SiYuan: Cross-Origin RCE via Permissive CORS Policy and JavaScript Snippet Injection

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to version 3.6.2, a malicious website can achieve Remote Code Execution (RCE) on any desktop running SiYuan by exploiting the permissive CORS policy (Access-Control-Allow-Origin: * + Access-Control-Allow-Private-Network: true) to inject a JavaScript snippet via the API. The injected snippet executes in Electron's Node.js context with full OS access the next time the user opens SiYuan's UI. No user interaction is required beyond visiting the malicious website while SiYuan is running. This issue has been patched in version 3.6.2.

SiYuan: Stored XSS to RCE in SiYuan via a per-attribute URL-scheme sanitizer gap in Lute (form action / SVG xlink:href)

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.1, SiYuan renders note and package content to HTML through the Lute engine with sanitization enabled, but Lute's dangerous javascript scheme block does not check form action or SVG xlink:href attributes, allowing stored cross-site scripting in document export-preview and Bazaar package README render paths that can execute OS commands in the Electron desktop renderer. This issue is fixed in versions 3.7.1.

SiYuan: Stored XSS results to Electron RCE in SiYuan marketplace via unescaped `data-obj` attribute (Bypass for CVE-2026-45375's patch)

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, it does not escape the untrusted fields (name, version, author, description) when they are serialized into the data-obj HTML attribute of each marketplace card. Because the attribute is single-quoted and the value is produced with JSON.stringify() (which does not escape ', <, or >), a package whose name contains a single quote breaks out of the attribute and injects arbitrary HTML. In the desktop client the main BrowserWindow runs with nodeIntegration: true, contextIsolation: false, so the injected markup escalates from DOM XSS to arbitrary OS command execution. This is the same root cause and same impact as the original advisory, reached through a sibling sink the patch did not cover. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan: Stored XSS in Bazaar marketplace via package README event handlers

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, renderPackageREADME in kernel/bazaar/readme.go renders a Bazaar package README from Markdown to HTML with the lute engine and SetSanitize(true). The lute sanitizer is an event-handler blocklist: allowAttr rejects only attribute names present in a fixed eventAttrs map copied from the w3schools legacy handler list. That map omits modern event handlers. onpointerover, onpointerdown, onauxclick, onbeforetoggle, onfocusin, onanimationstart, and ontransitionend are not in the list, so the sanitizer passes them through verbatim on any tag. The frontend assigns the rendered HTML to mdElement.innerHTML in app/src/config/bazaar.ts with no client-side DOMPurify on this path, into a normal element in the main document (no iframe, no sandbox). The kernel sends no Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, or X-Content-Type-Options header on any response, so an inline handler runs when its event fires. The README is rendered when an Administrator opens a package in Settings → Marketplace, after the one-time marketplace trust consent. Install is not required. Result: a third-party Bazaar package author runs JavaScript in the Administrator's authenticated SiYuan origin when the Administrator views and interacts with the package listing, and gains full control of the workspace. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan: Stored XSS to RCE via attribute-view cell rendering in genAVValueHTML()

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, the attribute-view (database) cell renderer genAVValueHTML interpolates cell content raw in four of its branches: text, url, phone, and mAsset. A cell value like </textarea><img src=x onerror="..."> or "><img src=x onerror="..."> breaks out of its surrounding tag and runs arbitrary JavaScript in the renderer when the victim opens the block-attribute panel. On Electron desktop the renderer runs with nodeIntegration:true, so the XSS chains to host RCE via require('child_process'). AV files live under the workspace and ride normal sync, so an attacker with write access to any synced workspace plants the payload once and it fires on every device that opens a panel containing that row.he kernel doesn't escape on the way in either, so the malicious cell persists byte-for-byte. There's no equivalent of the html.EscapeAttrVal call that protects block IAL attributes at kernel/model/blockial.go:261. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan: Lute HTML sanitizer allows `<iframe>` tags in Bazaar package README, leading to arbitrary command execution via SiYuan Electron client

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, Lute's HTML sanitizer does not remove <iframe> elements. Combined with the SiYuan Electron client's permissive security configuration, an attacker can include a malicious <iframe> in a Bazaar package README that executes arbitrary commands on the victim's machine when the package details are viewed. SiYuan: Stored XSS to RCE via CSS-snippet <style> breakout in renderSnippet()

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, CSS snippet body containing </style> breaks out of its surrounding <style> tag when renderSnippet() interpolates it via insertAdjacentHTML. A payload like runs arbitrary JavaScript in the renderer. On Electron desktop builds the renderer runs with nodeIntegration:true, so require('child_process') is reachable from the injected handler and the XSS chains to host RCE. Snippets sync via the workspace repository, so an attacker with write access to any synced workspace plants the payload once and it fires on every device that pulls. The bug also bypasses the user's enabledCSS / enabledJS separation. A user who turned enabledJS off was making a deliberate call not to run untrusted JavaScript; the CSS path runs it anyway. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan: Unauthenticated reflected SVG XSS in `/api/icon/getDynamicIcon` (`type=8`) enables arbitrary JavaScript execution

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to version 3.5.9, an unauthenticated reflected XSS vulnerability exists in the dynamic icon API endpoint "GET /api/icon/getDynamicIcon" when type=8, attacker-controlled content is embedded into SVG output without escaping. Because the endpoint is unauthenticated and returns image/svg+xml, a crafted URL can inject executable SVG/HTML event handlers (for example onerror) and run JavaScript in the SiYuan web origin. This can be chained to perform authenticated API actions and exfiltrate sensitive data when a logged-in user opens the malicious link. This issue has been patched in version 3.5.9.

SiYuan: Bazaar marketplace renders unescaped package `name` and `version` metadata, allowing stored XSS and Electron code execution

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, SiYuan's Bazaar (community marketplace) renders the name and version fields of a package's plugin.json (and the equivalent theme.json / template.json / widget.json / icon.json) into the Settings → Marketplace UI without HTML escaping. The kernel-side helper sanitizePackageDisplayStrings in kernel/bazaar/package.go HTML-escapes only Author, DisplayName, and Description — Name and Version flow through to the renderer raw. The frontend at app/src/config/bazaar.ts substitutes them into HTML template strings via ${item.preferredName} / ${data.name} / v${data.version} and assigns the result to innerHTML. As a consequence, malicious HTML in either field is parsed and executed when a user opens the marketplace tab. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan: URL-encoded title bypasses `escapeAriaLabel`, decoded by `decodeURIComponent` into a tooltip-XSS

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.7.0, he tooltip mouseover handler in app/src/block/popover.ts reads aria-label via getAttribute and passes it through decodeURIComponent before assigning to messageElement.innerHTML in app/src/dialog/tooltip.ts:41. The encoder used at the producer side, escapeAriaLabel in app/src/util/escape.ts:19-25, only handles HTML special characters (", ', <, literal &lt;) — it leaves %XX URL-escapes untouched. So a doc title containing %3Cimg src=x onerror=...%3E round-trips through escapeAriaLabel and the HTML attribute layer unmodified. Then decodeURIComponent on the consumer side converts %3C to a literal < character (a real <, NOT a character reference). When that string is assigned to innerHTML, the HTML5 tokenizer enters TagOpenState on the literal <, parses the <img> element, and the onerror handler fires. Because the renderer runs with nodeIntegration: true, contextIsolation: false, webSecurity: false (app/electron/main.js:407-411), require('child_process') is reachable from the injected handler, escalating to arbitrary code execution. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.7.0.

SiYuan Desktop Notification XSS Leads to Electron RCE

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.6.5, SiYuan desktop renders notification messages as raw HTML inside an Electron renderer. The notification route POST /api/notification/pushMsg accepts a user-controlled msg value, forwards it through the backend broadcast layer, and the frontend inserts it into the DOM with insertAdjacentHTML(...) at message.ts. On desktop builds, this is not limited to ordinary XSS. Electron windows are created with nodeIntegration: true, contextIsolation: false, and webSecurity: false at main.js. As a result, JavaScript executed from the notification sink can directly access Node APIs and escalate to desktop code execution. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.6.5.

SiYuan: Mermaid `javascript:` Link Injection Leads to Stored XSS and Electron RCE

SiYuan is an open-source personal knowledge management system. SiYuan affected by Remote Code Execution in the Electron desktop client via stored XSS in synced table captions

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.6.4, a malicious note synced to another user can trigger remote code execution in the SiYuan Electron desktop client. The root cause is that table caption content is stored without safe escaping and later unescaped into rendered HTML, creating a stored XSS sink. Because the desktop renderer runs with nodeIntegration enabled and contextIsolation disabled, attacker-controlled JavaScript executes with access to Node.js APIs. In practice, an attacker can import a crafted note into a synced workspace, wait for the victim to sync, and achieve code execution when the victim opens the note. SiYuan: Stored XSS in imported .sy.zip content leads to arbitrary command execution

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to version 3.6.2, a vulnerability allows crafted block attribute values to bypass server-side attribute escaping when an HTML entity is mixed with raw special characters. An attacker can embed a malicious IAL value inside a .sy document, package it as a .sy.zip, and have the victim import it through the normal Import -> SiYuan .sy.zip workflow. Once the note is opened, the malicious attribute breaks out of its original HTML context and injects an event handler, resulting in stored XSS. In the Electron desktop client, this XSS reaches remote code execution because injected JavaScript runs with access to Node/Electron APIs. This issue has been patched in version 3.6.2.

SiYuan: Reflected XSS via SVG namespace prefix bypass in SanitizeSVG ( getDynamicIcon, unauthenticated )

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. From version 3.6.0 to before version 3.6.2, the SanitizeSVG function introduced in version 3.6.0 to fix XSS in the unauthenticated /api/icon/getDynamicIcon endpoint can be bypassed by using namespace-prefixed element names such as <x:script xmlns:x="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">. The Go HTML5 parser records the element's tag as "x:script" rather than "script", so the tag check passes it through. The SVG is served with Content-Type: image/svg+xml and no Content Security Policy; when a browser opens the response directly, its XML parser resolves the prefix to the SVG namespace and executes the embedded script. This issue has been patched in version 3.6.2.

SiYuan has Stored XSS to RCE via Unsanitized Bazaar README Rendering

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. In versions 3.6.0 and below, the backend renderREADME function uses lute.New() without calling SetSanitize(true), allowing raw HTML embedded in Markdown to pass through unmodified. SiYuan has a SanitizeSVG bypass via data:text/xml in getDynamicIcon (incomplete fix for CVE-2026-29183)

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. In versions 3.6.0 and below, SanitizeSVG has an incomplete blocklist — it blocks data:text/html and data:image/svg+xml in href attributes but misses data:text/xml and data:application/xml, both of which can render SVG with JavaScript execution. The unauthenticated /api/icon/getDynamicIcon endpoint serves user-controlled input (via the content parameter) directly into SVG markup using fmt.Sprintf with no escaping, served as Content-Type: image/svg+xml. This creates a click-through XSS: a victim navigates to a crafted URL, sees an SVG with an injected link, and clicking it triggers JavaScript via the bypassed MIME types. The attack requires direct navigation to the endpoint or <object>/<embed> embedding, since <img> tag rendering in the frontend doesn't allow interactive links. This issue has been fixed in version 3.6.1.

SiYuan has a SVG Sanitizer Bypass via Whitespace in `javascript:` URI — Unauthenticated XSS

SiYuan is a personal knowledge management system. Prior to 3.5.10, SiYuan's SVG sanitizer (SanitizeSVG) checks href attributes for the javascript: prefix using strings.HasPrefix(). However, inserting ASCII tab (&#9;), newline (&#10;), or carriage return (&#13;) characters inside the javascript: string bypasses this prefix check. Browsers strip these characters per the WHATWG URL specification before parsing the URL scheme, so the JavaScript still executes. This allows an attacker to inject executable JavaScript into the unauthenticated /api/icon/getDynamicIcon endpoint, creating a reflected XSS. SiYuan Vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) via Unrestricted SVG File Upload

SiYuan is self-hosted, open source personal knowledge management software. Prior to 3.5.4-dev2, a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in SiYuan Note. The application does not sanitize uploaded SVG files. If a user uploads and views a malicious SVG file (e.g., imported from an untrusted source), arbitrary JavaScript code is executed in the context of their authenticated session. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.5.4-dev2.

SiYuan before v3.7.3 Stored and Reflected XSS via SVG Sanitizer Bypass

SiYuan before v3.7.3 contains stored and reflected cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in SVG sanitization that allows authenticated attackers to execute scripts by bypassing the HTML parser-based cleaner. Attackers can hide script tags within desc, style, or noscript elements which the HTML parser treats as raw text but browsers interpret as executable SVG content when served as image/svg+xml, enabling script execution in the application origin.

Froxlor Vulnerable to Blind XSS Leading to Froxlor Application Compromise

Froxlor is open source server administration software. Prior to 2.1.9, a Stored Blind Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was identified in the Failed Login Attempts Logging Feature of the Froxlor Application. An unauthenticated User can inject malicious scripts in the loginname parameter on the Login attempt, which will then be executed when viewed by the Administrator in the System Logs. By exploiting this vulnerability, the attacker can perform various malicious actions such as forcing the Administrator to execute actions without their knowledge or consent. For instance, the attacker can force the Administrator to add a new administrator controlled by the attacker, thereby giving the attacker full control over the application. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.9.

Cross-site Scripting (XSS) in Rich Text Editor allows arbitrary code execution in Joplin

Joplin is a free, open source note taking and to-do application, which can handle a large number of notes organised into notebooks. This vulnerability is caused by differences between how Joplin's HTML sanitizer handles comments and how the browser handles comments. This affects both the Rich Text Editor and the Markdown viewer. However, unlike the Rich Text Editor, the Markdown viewer is `cross-origin isolated`, which prevents JavaScript from directly accessing functions/variables in the toplevel Joplin `window`. This issue is not present in Joplin 3.1.24 and may have been introduced in `9b50539`. This is an XSS vulnerability that impacts users that open untrusted notes in the Rich Text Editor. This vulnerability has been addressed in version 3.2.12 and all users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Vulnerability in mintplex-labs/anything-llm

A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in mintplex-labs/anything-llm, affecting both the desktop application version 1.2.0 and the latest version of the web application. The vulnerability arises from the application's feature to fetch and embed content from websites into workspaces, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary JavaScript code. In the desktop application, this flaw can be escalated to Remote Code Execution (RCE) due to insecure application settings, specifically the enabling of 'nodeIntegration' and the disabling of 'contextIsolation' in Electron's webPreferences. The issue has been addressed in version 1.4.2 of the desktop application.
