The Import and export users and customers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to and including 2.0.8 via the `save_extra_user_profile_fields()` function. This is due to an incomplete blocklist that correctly restricts capability meta keys for the primary site (e.g., `wp_capabilities`, `wp_user_level`) but fails to block the equivalent meta keys for any other subsite in a WordPress Multisite network (e.g., `wp_2_capabilities`, `wp_2_user_level`), allowing these keys to pass the `in_array()` check and be written directly to user meta via `update_user_meta()`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their privileges to Administrator on any subsite within the Multisite network by submitting a crafted profile update to `/wp-admin/profile.php`. Exploitation requires that an administrator has previously imported a CSV file containing multisite-prefixed capability column headers and has enabled the 'Show fields in profile?' option, which causes those keys to be stored in the `acui_columns` option and exposed as editable fields on the user profile page.
The Highland Software Custom Role Manager plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to and including 1.0.0. This is due to insufficient authorization checks in the hscrm_save_user_roles() function, which is hooked to the personal_options_update action accessible by any authenticated user. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access or higher, to potentially modify user roles via the profile update form.
An issue was found with how API keys are created with the Fleet-Server service account. When an API key is created with a service account, it is possible that the API key could be created with higher privileges than intended. Using this vulnerability, a compromised Fleet-Server service account could escalate themselves to a super-user.
The LatePoint – Calendar Booking Plugin for Appointments and Events plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to and including 5.4.1. This is due to a missing authorization check in the execute() method of the connect-customer-to-wp-user ability, which only requires the customer__edit capability granted to the latepoint_agent role by default, without verifying whether the target WordPress user ID belongs to a privileged account. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with the latepoint_agent role to link any LatePoint customer record to an administrator's WordPress account and subsequently reset the administrator's password via the normal customer password-reset flow, resulting in full site takeover.
matrix-appservice-irc is an open source Node.js IRC bridge for Matrix. Attackers can specify a specific string of characters, which would confuse the bridge into combining an attacker-owned channel and an existing channel, allowing them to grant themselves permissions in the channel. The vulnerability has been patched in matrix-appservice-irc 0.35.0. As a workaround operators may disable dynamic channel joining via `dynamicChannels.enabled` to prevent users from joining new channels, which prevents any new channels being bridged outside of what is already bridged, and what is specified in the config.
The Frontend Admin by DynamiApps plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in versions up to and including 3.28.36. This is due to insufficient authorization checks in the role field update mechanism combined with overly permissive capabilities for the admin_form post type. The admin_form custom post type uses 'capability_type' => 'page', which grants editors the ability to create and edit forms. When an editor creates an edit_user form, they can manipulate the form configuration to include 'administrator' in the role_options array by directly submitting POST data to wp-admin/post.php, bypassing the UI restrictions in feadmin_get_user_roles(). When the form is subsequently submitted, the pre_update_value() function in class-role.php only validates that the submitted role exists in the form's role_options array (lines 107-110), but fails to verify that the current user has permission to assign that specific role. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to first register as editors (via a public new_user form), then create an edit_user form with administrator in the allowed roles, and finally use that form to escalate their own privileges to administrator.
XWiki Platform is a generic wiki platform. Starting in version 2.3-milestone-1, the annotation displayer does not execute the content in a restricted context. This allows executing anything with the right of the author of any document by annotating the document. This has been patched in XWiki 13.10.11, 14.4.7 and 14.10. There is no easy workaround except to upgrade.
The BuddyPress Groupblog plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.9.3. This is due to the group blog settings handler accepting the `groupblog-blogid`, `default-member`, and `groupblog-silent-add` parameters from user input without proper authorization checks. The `groupblog-blogid` parameter allows any group admin (including Subscribers who create their own group) to associate their group with any blog on the Multisite network, including the main site (blog ID 1). The `default-member` parameter accepts any WordPress role, including `administrator`, without validation against a whitelist. When combined with `groupblog-silent-add`, any user who joins the attacker's group is automatically added to the targeted blog with the injected role. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to escalate any user (including themselves via a second account) to Administrator on the main site of the Multisite network.
The 'The Ultimate WordPress Toolkit – WP Extended' plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 3.2.4. This is due to the `isDashboardOrProfileRequest()` method in the Menu Editor module using an insecure `strpos()` check against `$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']` to determine if a request targets the dashboard or profile page. The `grantVirtualCaps()` method, which is hooked into the `user_has_cap` filter, grants elevated capabilities including `manage_options` when this check returns true. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to gain administrative capabilities by appending a crafted query parameter to any admin URL, allowing them to update arbitrary WordPress options and ultimately create new Administrator accounts.
Networking OS10, versions prior to October 2021 with RESTCONF API enabled, contains a privilege escalation vulnerability. A malicious low privileged user with specific access to the API could potentially exploit this vulnerability to gain admin privileges on the affected system.
Wiki.js is an open source wiki app built on Node.js. Prior to 2.5.313, the users.update GraphQL mutation accepts an arbitrary groups array and applies it directly to the database with no validation of the group IDs supplied. The resolver passes the caller's arguments straight to the model without any ownership check or restriction on which groups can be assigned. A user with manage:users — a permission typically delegated to wiki moderators for account management — can set groups:[1] on their own account to self-assign to the Administrators group. After re-authentication, the fresh JWT carries manage:system, granting full site administrator access in a single mutation call. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.5.313.
Active Directory Domain Services Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
Jupyter Core is a package for the core common functionality of Jupyter projects. Jupyter Core prior to version 4.11.2 contains an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in `jupyter_core` that stems from `jupyter_core` executing untrusted files in CWD. This vulnerability allows one user to run code as another. Version 4.11.2 contains a patch for this issue. There are no known workarounds.
OpenClaw before 2026.3.28 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability allowing authenticated operators with write permissions to access admin-class Telegram configuration and cron persistence settings via the send endpoint. Attackers with operator.write credentials can exploit insufficient access controls to reach sensitive administrative functionality and modify persistence mechanisms.
Improper privilege management vulnerability in cgi component in Synology Download Station before 3.8.16-3566 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
Thermo Fisher Scientific Torrent Suite Dx through 5.14.2 has a privilege escalation vulnerability that may allow an authenticated user with limited access privileges to gain unauthorized administrator-level privileges through exploitation of specific system interfaces.
Vulnerabilities in the My Account and User Management components in CIPPlanner CIPAce before 9.17 allows attackers to escalate their access levels. A low-privileged authenticated user can gain access to other people's accounts by tampering with the client's user id to change their account information. A low-privileged authenticated user can elevate his or her system privileges by modifying the information of a user role that is disabled in the client.
A vulnerability in the user profile update component found in the ~/src/Classes/EditUserProfile.php file of the ProfilePress WordPress plugin made it possible for users to escalate their privileges to that of an administrator while editing their profile. This issue affects versions 3.0.0 - 3.1.3. .
A failure in resetting the security context in some transaction actions in Neo4j Graph Database 4.2 and 4.3 could allow authenticated users to execute commands with elevated privileges.
Neko is a a self-hosted virtual browser that runs in Docker and uses WebRTC In versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.10 and 3.1.0 through 3.1.1, any authenticated user can immediately obtain full administrative control of the entire Neko instance (member management, room settings, broadcast control, session termination, etc.). This results in a complete compromise of the instance. The vulnerability has been patched in v3.0.11 and v3.1.2. If upgrading is not immediately possible, the following mitigations can reduce risk: Restrict access to trusted users only (avoid granting accounts to untrusted parties); ensure all user passwords are strong and only shared with trusted individuals; run the instance only when needed; avoid leaving it continuously exposed; place the instance behind authentication layers such as a reverse proxy with additional access controls; disable or restrict access to the /api/profile endpoint if feasible; and/or monitor for suspicious privilege changes or unexpected administrative actions. Note that these are temporary mitigations and do not fully eliminate the vulnerability. Upgrading is strongly recommended.
A Broken Object-Level Authorization (BOLA) in the /Settings/UserController.php endpoint of Webkul Krayin CRM v2.2.x allows authenticated attackers to arbitrarily reset user passwords and perform a full account takeover via supplying a crafted HTTP request.
A vulnerability in the web UI of Cisco Smart Software Manager On-Prem (SSM On-Prem) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to elevate privileges and create, read, update, or delete records and settings in multiple functions. This vulnerability is due to insufficient authorization of the System User and System Operator role capabilities. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by directly accessing a web resource. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to create, read, update, or delete records and settings in multiple functions without the necessary permissions on the web UI.
An issue in OpenKnowledgeMaps Headstart v7 allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges via the url parameter of the getPDF.php component
File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. Prior to 2.63.1, the fix in commit b6a4fb1 ("self-registered users don't get execute perms") stripped Execute permission and Commands from users created via the signup handler. The same fix was not applied to the proxy auth handler. Users auto-created on first successful proxy-auth login are granted execution capabilities from global defaults, even though the signup path was explicitly changed to prevent execution rights from being inherited by automatically provisioned accounts. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.63.1.
In Weidmueller Industrial WLAN devices in multiple versions an exploitable improper access control vulnerability exists in the iw_webs account settings functionality. A specially crafted user name entry can cause the overwrite of an existing user account password, resulting in remote shell access to the device as that user. An attacker can send commands while authenticated as a low privilege user to trigger this vulnerability.
Multiple privilege escalation vulnerabilities in RaspAP 1.5 to 2.6.5 could allow an authenticated remote attacker to inject arbitrary commands to /installers/common.sh component that can result in remote command execution with root privileges.
Weblate is a web based localization tool. In versions prior to 5.17, the user patching API endpoint didn't properly limit the scope of edits. This issue has been fixed in version 5.17.
<p>A remote code execution vulnerability exists when the Windows Print Spooler service improperly performs privileged file operations. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights.</p> <p><strong>UPDATE</strong> August 10, 2021: Microsoft has completed the investigation and has released security updates to address this vulnerability. Please see the Security Updates table for the applicable update for your system. We recommend that you install these updates immediately. This security update changes the Point and Print default behavior; please see <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/help/5005652">KB5005652</a>.</p>
A vulnerability in the on-device application development workflow feature for the Cisco IOx application hosting infrastructure in Cisco IOS XE Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to access the underlying operating system as the root user. This vulnerability exists because Docker containers with the privileged runtime option are not blocked when they are in application development mode. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by using the Docker CLI to access an affected device. The application development workflow is meant to be used only on development systems and not in production systems.
Smart eVision has an improper privilege management vulnerability. A remote attacker with general user privilege can exploit this vulnerability to escalate to administrator privilege, and then perform arbitrary system command or disrupt service.
H C Mingham-Smith Ltd - Tardis 2000 Privilege escalation.Version 1.6 is vulnerable to privilege escalation which may allow a malicious actor to gain system privileges.
Icinga is a monitoring system which checks the availability of network resources, notifies users of outages, and generates performance data for reporting. From version 2.4.0 through version 2.12.4, a vulnerability exists that may allow privilege escalation for authenticated API users. With a read-ony user's credentials, an attacker can view most attributes of all config objects including `ticket_salt` of `ApiListener`. This salt is enough to compute a ticket for every possible common name (CN). A ticket, the master node's certificate, and a self-signed certificate are enough to successfully request the desired certificate from Icinga. That certificate may in turn be used to steal an endpoint or API user's identity. Versions 2.12.5 and 2.11.10 both contain a fix the vulnerability. As a workaround, one may either specify queryable types explicitly or filter out ApiListener objects.
An Improper Privilege Management vulnerability in the gRPC framework, used by the Juniper Extension Toolkit (JET) API on Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved, allows a network-based, low-privileged authenticated attacker to perform operations as root, leading to complete compromise of the targeted system. The issue is caused by the JET service daemon (jsd) process authenticating the user, then passing configuration operations directly to the management daemon (mgd) process, which runs as root. This issue affects Juniper Networks Junos OS: 18.4 versions prior to 18.4R1-S8, 18.4R2-S8, 18.4R3-S8; 19.1 versions prior to 19.1R2-S3, 19.1R3-S5; 19.2 versions prior to 19.2R1-S7, 19.2R3-S2; 19.3 versions prior to 19.3R2-S6, 19.3R3-S2; 19.4 versions prior to 19.4R1-S4, 19.4R2-S4, 19.4R3-S3; 20.1 versions prior to 20.1R2-S2, 20.1R3; 20.2 versions prior to 20.2R2-S3, 20.2R3; 20.3 versions prior to 20.3R2-S1, 20.3R3; 20.4 versions prior to 20.4R2. This issue does not affect Juniper Networks Junos OS versions prior to 18.4R1. Juniper Networks Junos OS Evolved: All versions prior to 20.4R2-EVO; 21.1-EVO versions prior to 21.1R2-EVO.
The Amelia Booking plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object References in versions up to, and including, 9.1.2. This is due to the plugin providing user-controlled access to objects, letting a user bypass authorization and access system resources. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with customer-level permissions or above to change user passwords and potentially take over administrator accounts. The vulnerability is in the pro plugin, which has the same slug.
An issue was discovered in Mahara 23.04.8 and 24.04.4. Attackers may utilize escalation of privileges in certain cases when logging into Mahara with Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI).
Formwork is a flat file-based Content Management System (CMS). In versions 2.0.0 through 2.3.3, the application fails to properly enforce role-based authorization during account creation. Although the system validates that the specified role exists, it does not verify whether the current user has sufficient privileges to assign highly privileged roles such as admin. As a result, an authenticated user with the editor role can create a new account with administrative privileges, leading to full administrative access and complete compromise of the CMS. This issue has been fixed in version 2.3.4.
An authorization bypass vulnerability in Tata Consultancy Services Cognix Recon Client v3.0 allows authenticated users to escalate privileges across role boundaries via crafted requests.
Improper Privilege Management in GitHub repository usememos/memos prior to 0.9.1.
A vulnerability was found in JingDong JD Cloud Box AX6600 up to 4.5.1.r4533. This affects the function web_get_ddns_uptime of the file /jdcapi of the component jdcweb_rpc. Performing a manipulation results in Remote Privilege Escalation. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. The exploit has been made public and could be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
immich is a high performance self-hosted photo and video management solution. Prior to version 2.5.0, API keys can escalate their own permissions by calling the update endpoint, allowing a low-privilege API key to grant itself full administrative access to the system. Version 2.5.0 fixes the issue.
An escalation of privilege bug in various modules in Apache HTTP 2.4.66 and earlier allows local .htaccess authors to read files with the privileges of the httpd user. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.4.67, which fixes this issue.
An issue was discovered in ClusterLabs Hawk (aka HA Web Konsole) through 2.3.0-15. It ships the binary hawk_invoke (built from tools/hawk_invoke.c), intended to be used as a setuid program. This allows the hacluster user to invoke certain commands as root (with an attempt to limit this to safe combinations). This user is able to execute an interactive "shell" that isn't limited to the commands specified in hawk_invoke, allowing escalation to root.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could give an authenticated Facility Explorer SNC Series Supervisory Controller (F4-SNC) user an unintended level of access to the controller’s file system, allowing them to access or modify system files by sending specifically crafted web messages to the F4-SNC.
Roundcube Webmail allows arbitrary password resets by authenticated users. This affects versions before 1.0.11, 1.1.x before 1.1.9, and 1.2.x before 1.2.5. The problem is caused by an improperly restricted exec call in the virtualmin and sasl drivers of the password plugin.
An improper access control vulnerability has been reported to affect QNAP NAS. If exploited, this vulnerability allows remote attackers to compromise the security of the software. This issue affects: QNAP Systems Inc. Helpdesk versions prior to 3.0.4.
Once logged in to ProGauge MAGLINK LX4 CONSOLE, a valid user can change their privileges to administrator.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could give an authenticated Metasys user an unintended level of access to the server file system, allowing them to access or modify system files by sending specifically crafted web messages to the Metasys system. This issue affects: Johnson Controls Metasys version 11.0 and prior versions.
An issue was discovered in za-internet C-MOR Video Surveillance 5.2401. Due to improper privilege management concerning sudo privileges, C-MOR is vulnerable to a privilege escalation attack. The Linux user www-data running the C-MOR web interface can execute some OS commands as root via Sudo without having to enter the root password. These commands, for example, include cp, chown, and chmod, which enable an attacker to modify the system's sudoers file in order to execute all commands with root privileges. Thus, it is possible to escalate the limited privileges of the user www-data to root privileges.
The AI Engine – The Chatbot, AI Framework & MCP for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in version 3.4.9. This is due to missing WordPress capability enforcement in the MCP OAuth bearer-token authorization path, where any valid OAuth token causes MCP access to be granted without verifying administrator privileges. This makes it possible for authenticated (Subscriber+) attackers to invoke admin-level MCP tools and escalate privileges to Administrator.
Privilege Escalation in LiteSpeed Technologies OpenLiteSpeed web server version 1.7.8 allows attackers to gain root terminal access and execute commands on the host system.
