An issue was discovered in ntopng 3.4 before 3.4.180617. The PRNG involved in the generation of session IDs is not seeded at program startup. This results in deterministic session IDs being allocated for active user sessions. An attacker with foreknowledge of the operating system and standard library in use by the host running the service and the username of the user whose session they're targeting can abuse the deterministic random number generation in order to hijack the user's session, thus escalating their access.

The _addguess function of a simplelottery smart contract implementation for 1000 Guess, an Ethereum gambling game, generates a random value with publicly readable variables such as the current block information and a private variable (which can be read with a getStorageAt call). The Bitcoin Proof-of-Work algorithm does not consider a certain attack methodology related to 80-byte block headers with a variety of initial 64-byte chunks followed by the same 16-byte chunk, multiple candidate root values ending with the same 4 bytes, and calculations involving sqrt numbers. This violates the security assumptions of (1) the choice of input, outside of the dedicated nonce area, fed into the Proof-of-Work function should not change its difficulty to evaluate and (2) every Proof-of-Work function execution should be independent. NOTE: a number of persons feel that this methodology is a benign mining optimization, not a vulnerability

GE Hydran M2 Predictable Value Range from Previous Values

The 17046 Ethernet card before 94450214LFMT100SEM-L.R3-CL for the GE Digital Energy Hydran M2 does not properly generate random values for TCP Initial Sequence Numbers (ISNs), which makes it easier for remote attackers to spoof packets by predicting these values.

The QNAP TS-239 Pro and TS-639 Pro with firmware 2.1.7 0613, 3.1.0 0627, and 3.1.1 0815 use the rand library function to generate a certain recovery key, which makes it easier for local users to determine this key via a brute-force attack.

The get_random_int function in drivers/char/random.c in the Linux kernel before 2.6.30 produces insufficiently random numbers, which allows attackers to predict the return value, and possibly defeat protection mechanisms based on randomization, via vectors that leverage the function's tendency to "return the same value over and over again for long stretches of time."

The GENERATE_SEED macro in PHP 4.x before 4.4.8 and 5.x before 5.2.5, when running on 64-bit systems, performs a multiplication that generates a portion of zero bits during conversion due to insufficient precision, which produces 24 bits of entropy and simplifies brute force attacks against protection mechanisms that use the rand and mt_rand functions.
