Stack-based buffer overflow in the ps_gettext function in ps.c for GNU gv 3.6.2, and possibly earlier versions, allows user-assisted attackers to execute arbitrary code via a PostScript (PS) file with certain headers that contain long comments, as demonstrated using the (1) DocumentMedia, (2) DocumentPaperSizes, and possibly (3) PageMedia and (4) PaperSize headers. NOTE: this issue can be exploited through other products that use gv such as evince.

Red Hat is aware of this issue and is tracking it via the following bug for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1. This issue did not affect Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 or 4. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=215593 The Red Hat Security Response Team has rated this issue as having low security impact, a future update may address this flaw. More information regarding issue severity can be found here: http://www.redhat.com/security/updates/classification/ Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 is not vulnerable to this issue as it contains a backported patch. The risks associated with fixing this bug are greater than the low severity security risk. We therefore currently have no plans to fix this flaw in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1 which is in maintenance mode.

The ADDW macro in stdio-common/vfscanf.c in the GNU C Library (aka glibc or libc6) before 2.21 does not properly consider data-type size during a risk-management decision for use of the alloca function, which might allow context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (segmentation violation) or overwrite memory locations beyond the stack boundary via a long line containing wide characters that are improperly handled in a wscanf call.

The _bfd_coff_read_string_table function in coffgen.c in the Binary File Descriptor (BFD) library (aka libbfd), as distributed in GNU Binutils 2.29.1, does not properly validate the size of the external string table, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (excessive memory consumption, or heap-based buffer overflow and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact via a crafted COFF binary.

The watch implementation in the JavaScript engine in Mozilla Firefox before 46.0, Firefox ESR 38.x before 38.8, and Firefox ESR 45.x before 45.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (generation-count overflow, out-of-bounds HashMap write access, and application crash) via a crafted web site.

WebKit, as used in Apple iTunes before 10.2 on Windows and Apple iOS, does not properly implement the .sort function for JavaScript arrays, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via vectors related to iTunes Store browsing, a different vulnerability than other CVEs listed in APPLE-SA-2011-03-02-1.

Buffer overflow in HAProxy 1.4 through 1.4.22 and 1.5-dev through 1.5-dev17, when HTTP keep-alive is enabled, using HTTP keywords in TCP inspection rules, and running with rewrite rules that appends to requests, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via crafted pipelined HTTP requests that prevent request realignment from occurring.
