NVIDIA Jetson TX2 contains a vulnerability in the kernel driver where input/output control (IOCTL) handling for user mode requests could create a non-trusted pointer dereference, which may lead to information disclosure, denial of service, escalation of privileges, or code execution. The updates apply to all versions prior to R28.3.
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in MicroWorld eScan Anti-Virus 7.0.32 on Linux. This affects an unknown part of the file runasroot. The manipulation leads to incorrect execution-assigned permissions. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The associated identifier of this vulnerability is VDB-237315. NOTE: The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
In Flatpak before 0.8.7, a third-party app repository could include malicious apps that contain files with inappropriate permissions, for example setuid or world-writable. The files are deployed with those permissions, which would let a local attacker run the setuid executable or write to the world-writable location. In the case of the "system helper" component, files deployed as part of the app are owned by root, so in the worst case they could be setuid root.
This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of TP-Link Archer A7 Firmware Ver: 190726 AC1750 routers. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the file system. The issue lies in the lack of proper permissions set on the file system. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges. Was ZDI-CAN-9651.
Anaconda Anaconda3 (Anaconda Distribution) through 2021.11.0.0 and Miniconda3 through 4.11.0.0 can create a world-writable directory under %PROGRAMDATA% and place that directory into the system PATH environment variable. Thus, for example, local users can gain privileges by placing a Trojan horse file into that directory. (This problem can only happen in a non-default installation. The person who installs the product must specify that it is being installed for all users. Also, the person who installs the product must specify that the system PATH should be changed.
Moby is an open-source project created by Docker to enable software containerization. A bug was found in Moby (Docker Engine) where the data directory (typically `/var/lib/docker`) contained subdirectories with insufficiently restricted permissions, allowing otherwise unprivileged Linux users to traverse directory contents and execute programs. When containers included executable programs with extended permission bits (such as `setuid`), unprivileged Linux users could discover and execute those programs. When the UID of an unprivileged Linux user on the host collided with the file owner or group inside a container, the unprivileged Linux user on the host could discover, read, and modify those files. This bug has been fixed in Moby (Docker Engine) 20.10.9. Users should update to this version as soon as possible. Running containers should be stopped and restarted for the permissions to be fixed. For users unable to upgrade limit access to the host to trusted users. Limit access to host volumes to trusted containers.

The ruby_parser-legacy (aka legacy) gem 1.0.0 for Ruby allows local privilege escalation because of world-writable files. For example, if the brakeman gem (which has a legacy dependency) 4.5.0 through 4.7.0 is used, a local user can insert malicious code into the ruby_parser-legacy-1.0.0/lib/ruby_parser/legacy/ruby_parser.rb file.
A vulnerability in the filesystem management for the Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) Mode Switch Software could allow an authenticated, local attacker with administrator rights to gain elevated privileges as the root user on an affected device. The vulnerability is due to overly permissive file permissions of specific system files. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating to an affected device, creating a crafted command string, and writing this crafted string to a specific file location. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary operating system commands as root on an affected device. The attacker would need to have valid administrator credentials for the device.
GNU Guix 1.0.1 allows local users to gain access to an arbitrary user's account because the parent directory of the user-profile directories is world writable, a similar issue to CVE-2019-17365.
CyberGhost 6.5.0.3180 for Windows suffers from a SYSTEM privilege escalation vulnerability through the "CG6Service" service. This service establishes a NetNamedPipe endpoint that allows arbitrary installed applications to connect and call publicly exposed methods. The "ConnectToVpnServer" method accepts a "connectionParams" argument that provides attacker control of the OpenVPN command line. An attacker can specify a dynamic library plugin that should run for every new VPN connection attempt. This plugin will execute code in the context of the SYSTEM user.
Valve Steam Client for Windows through 2019-08-16 allows privilege escalation (to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM) because local users can replace the current versions of SteamService.exe and SteamService.dll with older versions that lack the CVE-2019-14743 patch.
Netwrix Auditor before 9.8 has insecure permissions on %PROGRAMDATA%\Netwrix Auditor\Logs\ActiveDirectory\ and sub-folders. In addition, the service Netwrix.ADA.StorageAuditService (which writes to that directory) does not perform proper impersonation, and thus the target file will have the same permissions as the invoking process (in this case, granting Authenticated Users full access over the target file). This vulnerability can be triggered by a low-privileged user to perform DLL Hijacking/Binary Planting attacks and ultimately execute code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM with the help of Symbolic Links.
