Quest DR Series Disk Backup software version before 4.0.3.1 allows command injection (issue 30 of 46).
An issue was discovered in ADTRAN PMAA 1.6.2-1, 1.6.3, and 1.6.4. NETCONF Access Management (NACM) allows unprivileged users to create privileged users and execute arbitrary commands via the use of the diagnostic-profile over RESTCONF.
IBM API Connect 5.0.0.0 through 5.0.8.4 allows a user with limited 'API Administrator level access to give themselves full 'Administrator' level access through the members functionality. IBM X-Force ID: 153914.
An issue was discovered in hitshop through 2014-07-15. There is an elevation-of-privilege vulnerability (that allows control over the whole web site) via the admin.php/user/add URI because a storekeeper account (which is supposed to have only privileges for commodity management) can add an administrator account.
Certain Secure Access SA Series SSL VPN products (originally developed by Juniper Networks but now sold and supported by Pulse Secure, LLC) allow privilege escalation, as demonstrated by Secure Access SSL VPN SA-4000 5.1R5 (build 9627) 4.2 Release (build 7631). This occurs because appropriate controls are not performed. Specifically, it is possible for a readonly user to change the administrator user password by making a local copy of the /dana-admin/user/update.cgi page, changing the "user" value, and saving the changes.
PRTG Network Monitor before 18.2.40.1683 allows an authenticated user with a read-only account to create another user with a read-write account (including administrator) via an HTTP request because /api/addusers doesn't check, or doesn't properly check, user rights.
An issue was discovered in Joomla! before 3.8.13. If an attacker gets access to the mail account of an user who can approve admin verifications in the registration process, he can activate himself.
Pivotal Operations Manager, versions 2.0.x prior to 2.0.24, versions 2.1.x prior to 2.1.15, versions 2.2.x prior to 2.2.7, and versions 2.3.x prior to 2.3.1, grants all users a scope which allows for privilege escalation. A remote malicious user who has been authenticated may create a new client with administrator privileges for Opsman.
The user access rights validation in the web server of the Bosch Ethernet switch PRA-ES8P2S with software version 1.01.05 was insufficient. This would allow a non-administrator user to obtain administrator user access rights.
A vulnerability has been identified in ROX II (All versions < V2.12.1). An attacker with network access to port 22/tcp and valid low-privileged user credentials for the target device could perform a privilege escalation and gain root privileges. Successful exploitation requires user privileges of a low-privileged user but no user interaction. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to compromise confidentiality, integrity and availability of the system.
Multiple vulnerabilities in the web-based management interface of certain Cisco Small Business 100, 300, and 500 Series Wireless Access Points could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to obtain sensitive information from or inject arbitrary commands on an affected device. For more information about these vulnerabilities, see the Details section of this advisory.
A vulnerability in an API endpoint of Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (APIC) and Cisco Cloud Application Policy Infrastructure Controller (Cloud APIC) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker with Administrator read-only credentials to elevate privileges on an affected system. This vulnerability is due to an insufficient role-based access control (RBAC). An attacker with Administrator read-only credentials could exploit this vulnerability by sending a specific API request using an app with admin write credentials. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to elevate privileges to Administrator with write privileges on the affected device.
In Apache Karaf prior to 4.2.0 release, if the sshd service in Karaf is left on so an administrator can manage the running instance, any user with rights to the Karaf console can pivot and read/write any file on the file system to which the Karaf process user has access. This can be locked down a bit by using chroot to change the root directory to protect files outside of the Karaf install directory; it can be further locked down by defining a security manager policy that limits file system access to those directories beneath the Karaf home that are necessary for the system to run. However, this still allows anyone with ssh access to the Karaf process to read and write a large number of files as the Karaf process user.
A vulnerability has been identified in ROX II (All versions < V2.12.1). An authenticated attacker with a high-privileged user account access via SSH could circumvent restrictions in place and execute arbitrary operating system commands. Successful exploitation requires that the attacker has network access to the SSH interface in on port 22/tcp. The attacker must be authenticated to exploit the vulnerability. The vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the device.
This vulnerability allows remote attackers to escalate privileges on vulnerable installations of Samsung Members Fixed in version 2.4.25. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of Intents. The issue lies in the ability to send an Intent that would not otherwise be reachable. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges to resources normally protected from the application. Was ZDI-CAN-5361.
An issue was discovered in Joomla! Core before 3.8.8. Inadequate checks allowed users to modify the access levels of user groups with higher permissions.
Kubernetes CRI-O version prior to 1.9 contains a Privilege Context Switching Error (CWE-270) vulnerability in the handling of ambient capabilities that can result in containers running with elevated privileges, allowing users abilities they should not have. This attack appears to be exploitable via container execution. This vulnerability appears to have been fixed in 1.9.
TP-Link EAP Controller and Omada Controller versions 2.5.4_Windows/2.6.0_Windows do not control privileges for usage of the Web API, allowing a low-privilege user to make any request as an Administrator. This is fixed in version 2.6.1_Windows.
A sandbox bypass vulnerability exists in Script Security Plugin 1.47 and earlier in groovy-sandbox/src/main/java/org/kohsuke/groovy/sandbox/SandboxTransformer.java that allows attackers with Job/Configure permission to execute arbitrary code on the Jenkins master JVM, if plugins using the Groovy sandbox are installed.

MinIO is a High Performance Object Storage released under GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. A security issue was found where an non-admin user is able to create service accounts for root or other admin users and then is able to assume their access policies via the generated credentials. This in turn allows the user to escalate privilege to that of the root user. This vulnerability has been resolved in pull request #14729 and is included in `RELEASE.2022-04-12T06-55-35Z`. Users unable to upgrade may workaround this issue by explicitly adding a `admin:CreateServiceAccount` deny policy, however, this, in turn, denies the user the ability to create their own service accounts as well.
In Open Ticket Request System (OTRS) 3.3.x through 3.3.16, 4.x through 4.0.23, and 5.x through 5.0.19, an attacker with agent permission is capable of opening a specific URL in a browser to gain administrative privileges / full access. Afterward, all system settings can be read and changed. The URLs in question contain index.pl?Action=Installer with ;Subaction=Intro or ;Subaction=Start or ;Subaction=System appended at the end.

A flaw was found in foreman before version 1.15 in the logging of adding and registering images. An attacker with access to the foreman log file would be able to view passwords for provisioned systems in the log file, allowing them to access those systems.
A vulnerability in the REST API endpoint of Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to elevate privileges on the application. The vulnerability is due to insufficient access control validation. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating with a low-privilege account and sending a crafted request to the API. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to interact with the API with administrative privileges.
Multiple vulnerabilities in Cisco Jabber for Windows, Jabber for MacOS, and Jabber for mobile platforms could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary programs on the underlying operating system (OS) with elevated privileges or gain access to sensitive information. For more information about these vulnerabilities, see the Details section of this advisory.

The Dynamic OOO widget for the Elementor Pro plugin through 3.0.5 for WordPress allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code because only the Editor role is needed to upload executable PHP code via the PHP Raw snippet. NOTE: this issue can be mitigated by removing the Dynamic OOO widget or by restricting availability of the Editor role.
In Phoenix Contact FL SWITCH Series 2xxx in version 3.00 an incorrect privilege assignment allows an low privileged user to enable full access to the device configuration.
A sandbox escape issue was discovered in TitanHQ SpamTitan Gateway 7.07. It limits the admin user to a restricted shell, allowing execution of a small number of tools of the operating system. This restricted shell can be bypassed after changing the properties of the user admin in the operating system file /etc/passwd. This file cannot be accessed though the restricted shell, but it can be modified by abusing the Backup/Import Backup functionality of the web interface. An authenticated attacker would be able to obtain the file /var/tmp/admin.passwd after executing a Backup operation. This file can be manually modified to change the GUID of the user to 0 (root) and change the restricted shell to a normal shell /bin/sh. After the modification is done, the file can be recompressed to a .tar.bz file and imported again via the Import Backup functionality. The properties of the admin user will be overwritten and a root shell will be granted to the user upon the next successful login.
Jupiter Theme <= 6.10.1 and JupiterX Core Plugin <= 2.0.7 allow any authenticated attacker, including a subscriber or customer-level attacker, to gain administrative privileges via the "abb_uninstall_template" (both) and "jupiterx_core_cp_uninstall_template" (JupiterX Core Only) AJAX actions

<p>A remote code execution vulnerability exists in Microsoft Exchange server due to improper validation of cmdlet arguments.</p> <p>An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could run arbitrary code in the context of the System user. Exploitation of the vulnerability requires an authenticated user in a certain Exchange role to be compromised.</p> <p>The security update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how Microsoft Exchange handles cmdlet arguments.</p>
SpagoBI before 4.1 has Privilege Escalation via an error in the AdapterHTTP script
In QuickBox Community Edition through 2.5.5 and Pro Edition through 2.1.8, the local www-data user has sudo privileges to execute grep as root without a password, which allows an attacker to obtain sensitive information via a grep of a /root/*.db or /etc/shadow file.
The users-customers-import-export-for-wp-woocommerce plugin before 1.3.9 for WordPress allows subscribers to import administrative accounts via CSV.
An issue was discovered in CipherMail Community Gateway and Professional/Enterprise Gateway 1.0.1 through 4.7.1-0 and CipherMail Webmail Messenger 1.1.1 through 3.1.1-0. Attackers with administrative access to the web interface have multiple options to escalate their privileges to the Unix root account.
The HTTP interface of Synaman v5.1 and below was discovered to allow authenticated attackers to execute arbitrary code and escalate privileges.
OpenText Documentum Content Server (formerly EMC Documentum Content Server) through 7.3 contains the following design gap, which allows an authenticated user to gain superuser privileges: Content Server stores information about uploaded files in dmr_content objects, which are queryable and "editable" (before release 7.2P02, any authenticated user was able to edit dmr_content objects; now any authenticated user may delete a dmr_content object and then create a new one with the old identifier) by authenticated users; this allows any authenticated user to replace the content of security-sensitive dmr_content objects (for example, dmr_content related to dm_method objects) and gain superuser privileges.
An privilege elevation vulnerability exists in Cloud-init before 0.7.0 when requests to an untrusted system are submitted for EC2 instance data.
Foreman since version 1.5 is vulnerable to an incorrect authorization check due to which users with user management permission who are assigned to some organization(s) can do all operations granted by these permissions on all administrator user object outside of their scope, such as editing global admin accounts including changing their passwords.
