drm/amd/display: Fix out-of-bound accesses

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Fix out-of-bound accesses [WHAT & HOW] hpo_stream_to_link_encoder_mapping has size MAX_HPO_DP2_ENCODERS(=4), but location can have size up to 6. As a result, it is necessary to check location against MAX_HPO_DP2_ENCODERS. Similiarly, disp_cfg_stream_location can be used as an array index which should be 0..5, so the ASSERT's conditions should be less without equal.

riscv: mm: Fix the out of bound issue of vmemmap address

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: riscv: mm: Fix the out of bound issue of vmemmap address In sparse vmemmap model, the virtual address of vmemmap is calculated as: ((struct page *)VMEMMAP_START - (phys_ram_base >> PAGE_SHIFT)). And the struct page's va can be calculated with an offset: (vmemmap + (pfn)). However, when initializing struct pages, kernel actually starts from the first page from the same section that phys_ram_base belongs to. If the first page's physical address is not (phys_ram_base >> PAGE_SHIFT), then we get an va below VMEMMAP_START when calculating va for it's struct page. For example, if phys_ram_base starts from 0x82000000 with pfn 0x82000, the first page in the same section is actually pfn 0x80000. During init_unavailable_range(), we will initialize struct page for pfn 0x80000 with virtual address ((struct page *)VMEMMAP_START - 0x2000), which is below VMEMMAP_START as well as PCI_IO_END. This commit fixes this bug by introducing a new variable 'vmemmap_start_pfn' which is aligned with memory section size and using it to calculate vmemmap address instead of phys_ram_base.

net: dsa: sja1105: fix kasan out-of-bounds warning in sja1105_table_delete_entry()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: dsa: sja1105: fix kasan out-of-bounds warning in sja1105_table_delete_entry() There are actually 2 problems: - deleting the last element doesn't require the memmove of elements [i + 1, end) over it. Actually, element i+1 is out of bounds. - The memmove itself should move size - i - 1 elements, because the last element is out of bounds. The out-of-bounds element still remains out of bounds after being accessed, so the problem is only that we touch it, not that it becomes in active use. But I suppose it can lead to issues if the out-of-bounds element is part of an unmapped page.

binder: fix OOB in binder_add_freeze_work()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: binder: fix OOB in binder_add_freeze_work() In binder_add_freeze_work() we iterate over the proc->nodes with the proc->inner_lock held. However, this lock is temporarily dropped to acquire the node->lock first (lock nesting order). This can race with binder_deferred_release() which removes the nodes from the proc->nodes rbtree and adds them into binder_dead_nodes list. This leads to a broken iteration in binder_add_freeze_work() as rb_next() will use data from binder_dead_nodes, triggering an out-of-bounds access: ================================================================== BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in rb_next+0xfc/0x124 Read of size 8 at addr ffffcb84285f7170 by task freeze/660 CPU: 8 UID: 0 PID: 660 Comm: freeze Not tainted 6.11.0-07343-ga727812a8d45 #18 Hardware name: linux,dummy-virt (DT) Call trace: rb_next+0xfc/0x124 binder_add_freeze_work+0x344/0x534 binder_ioctl+0x1e70/0x25ac __arm64_sys_ioctl+0x124/0x190 The buggy address belongs to the variable: binder_dead_nodes+0x10/0x40 [...] ================================================================== This is possible because proc->nodes (rbtree) and binder_dead_nodes (list) share entries in binder_node through a union: struct binder_node { [...] union { struct rb_node rb_node; struct hlist_node dead_node; }; Fix the race by checking that the proc is still alive. If not, simply break out of the iteration.

acpi: nfit: vmalloc-out-of-bounds Read in acpi_nfit_ctl

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: acpi: nfit: vmalloc-out-of-bounds Read in acpi_nfit_ctl Fix an issue detected by syzbot with KASAN: BUG: KASAN: vmalloc-out-of-bounds in cmd_to_func drivers/acpi/nfit/ core.c:416 [inline] BUG: KASAN: vmalloc-out-of-bounds in acpi_nfit_ctl+0x20e8/0x24a0 drivers/acpi/nfit/core.c:459 The issue occurs in cmd_to_func when the call_pkg->nd_reserved2 array is accessed without verifying that call_pkg points to a buffer that is appropriately sized as a struct nd_cmd_pkg. This can lead to out-of-bounds access and undefined behavior if the buffer does not have sufficient space. To address this, a check was added in acpi_nfit_ctl() to ensure that buf is not NULL and that buf_len is less than sizeof(*call_pkg) before accessing it. This ensures safe access to the members of call_pkg, including the nd_reserved2 array.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/cpum_sf: Fix and protect memory allocation of SDBs with mutex Reservation of the PMU hardware is done at first event creation and is protected by a pair of mutex_lock() and mutex_unlock(). After reservation of the PMU hardware the memory required for the PMUs the event is to be installed on is allocated by allocate_buffers() and alloc_sampling_buffer(). This done outside of the mutex protection. Without mutex protection two or more concurrent invocations of perf_event_init() may run in parallel. This can lead to allocation of Sample Data Blocks (SDBs) multiple times for the same PMU. Prevent this and protect memory allocation of SDBs by mutex.

Kernel: ksmbd: transform header out-of-bounds read information disclosure vulnerability

A flaw was found within the parsing of SMB2 requests that have a transform header in the kernel ksmbd module. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this to disclose sensitive information on affected installations of Linux. Only systems with ksmbd enabled are vulnerable to this CVE.

soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: qcom: socinfo: Avoid out of bounds read of serial number On MSM8916 devices, the serial number exposed in sysfs is constant and does not change across individual devices. It's always: db410c:/sys/devices/soc0$ cat serial_number 2644893864 The firmware used on MSM8916 exposes SOCINFO_VERSION(0, 8), which does not have support for the serial_num field in the socinfo struct. There is an existing check to avoid exposing the serial number in that case, but it's not correct: When checking the item_size returned by SMEM, we need to make sure the *end* of the serial_num is within bounds, instead of comparing with the *start* offset. The serial_number currently exposed on MSM8916 devices is just an out of bounds read of whatever comes after the socinfo struct in SMEM. Fix this by changing offsetof() to offsetofend(), so that the size of the field is also taken into account.

[CAUSE] That offending commit skips the whole qgroup inherit check if qgroup is not enabled. But that also skips the very basic checks like num_ref_copies/num_excl_copies and the structure size checks. Meaning if a qgroup enable/disable race is happening at the background, and we pass a btrfs_qgroup_inherit structure when the qgroup is disabled, the check would be completely skipped. Then at the time of transaction commitment, qgroup is re-enabled and btrfs_qgroup_inherit() is going to use the incorrect structure and causing the above KASAN error. [FIX] Make btrfs_qgroup_check_inherit() only skip the source qgroup checks. So that even if invalid btrfs_qgroup_inherit structure is passed in, we can still reject invalid ones no matter if qgroup is enabled or not. Furthermore we do already have an extra safety inside btrfs_qgroup_inherit(), which would just ignore invalid qgroup sources, so even if we only skip the qgroup source check we're still safe.

parport: Proper fix for array out-of-bounds access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: parport: Proper fix for array out-of-bounds access The recent fix for array out-of-bounds accesses replaced sprintf() calls blindly with snprintf(). However, since snprintf() returns the would-be-printed size, not the actually output size, the length calculation can still go over the given limit. Use scnprintf() instead of snprintf(), which returns the actually output letters, for addressing the potential out-of-bounds access properly.

KVM: nSVM: Ignore nCR3[4:0] when loading PDPTEs from memory

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: nSVM: Ignore nCR3[4:0] when loading PDPTEs from memory Ignore nCR3[4:0] when loading PDPTEs from memory for nested SVM, as bits 4:0 of CR3 are ignored when PAE paging is used, and thus VMRUN doesn't enforce 32-byte alignment of nCR3. In the absolute worst case scenario, failure to ignore bits 4:0 can result in an out-of-bounds read, e.g. if the target page is at the end of a memslot, and the VMM isn't using guard pages. Per the APM: The CR3 register points to the base address of the page-directory-pointer table. The page-directory-pointer table is aligned on a 32-byte boundary, with the low 5 address bits 4:0 assumed to be 0. And the SDM's much more explicit: 4:0 Ignored Note, KVM gets this right when loading PDPTRs, it's only the nSVM flow that is broken.

tty: serial: qcom-geni-serial: fix slab-out-of-bounds on RX FIFO buffer

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: serial: qcom-geni-serial: fix slab-out-of-bounds on RX FIFO buffer Driver's probe allocates memory for RX FIFO (port->rx_fifo) based on default RX FIFO depth, e.g. 16. Later during serial startup the qcom_geni_serial_port_setup() updates the RX FIFO depth (port->rx_fifo_depth) to match real device capabilities, e.g. to 32. The RX UART handle code will read "port->rx_fifo_depth" number of words into "port->rx_fifo" buffer, thus exceeding the bounds. As a result, when trying to get a reserved memory region using of_reserved_mem_lookup(), the pointer to reserved memory regions is using the early, pre-virtual-memory address which causes a kernel panic when trying to use the buffer's name: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 00000000401c31ac Oops [#1] Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 0 Comm: swapper Not tainted 6.0.0-rc1-00001-g0d9d6953d834 #1 Hardware name: Microchip PolarFire-SoC Icicle Kit (DT) epc : string+0x4a/0xea ra : vsnprintf+0x1e4/0x336 epc : ffffffff80335ea0 ra : ffffffff80338936 sp : ffffffff81203be0 gp : ffffffff812e0a98 tp : ffffffff8120de40 t0 : 0000000000000000 t1 : ffffffff81203e28 t2 : 7265736572203a46 s0 : ffffffff81203c20 s1 : ffffffff81203e28 a0 : ffffffff81203d22 a1 : 0000000000000000 a2 : ffffffff81203d08 a3 : 0000000081203d21 a4 : ffffffffffffffff a5 : 00000000401c31ac a6 : ffff0a00ffffff04 a7 : ffffffffffffffff s2 : ffffffff81203d08 s3 : ffffffff81203d00 s4 : 0000000000000008 s5 : ffffffff000000ff s6 : 0000000000ffffff s7 : 00000000ffffff00 s8 : ffffffff80d9821a s9 : ffffffff81203d22 s10: 0000000000000002 s11: ffffffff80d9821c t3 : ffffffff812f3617 t4 : ffffffff812f3617 t5 : ffffffff812f3618 t6 : ffffffff81203d08 status: 0000000200000100 badaddr: 00000000401c31ac cause: 000000000000000d [<ffffffff80338936>] vsnprintf+0x1e4/0x336 [<ffffffff80055ae2>] vprintk_store+0xf6/0x344 [<ffffffff80055d86>] vprintk_emit+0x56/0x192 [<ffffffff80055ed8>] vprintk_default+0x16/0x1e [<ffffffff800563d2>] vprintk+0x72/0x80 [<ffffffff806813b2>] _printk+0x36/0x50 [<ffffffff8068af48>] print_reserved_mem+0x1c/0x24 [<ffffffff808057ec>] paging_init+0x528/0x5bc [<ffffffff808031ae>] setup_arch+0xd0/0x592 [<ffffffff8080070e>] start_kernel+0x82/0x73c early_init_fdt_scan_reserved_mem() takes no arguments as it operates on initial_boot_params, which is populated by early_init_dt_verify(). On RISC-V, early_init_dt_verify() is called twice. Once, directly, in setup_arch() if CONFIG_BUILTIN_DTB is not enabled and once indirectly, very early in the boot process, by parse_dtb() when it calls early_init_dt_scan_nodes(). This first call uses dtb_early_va to set initial_boot_params, which is not usable later in the boot process when early_init_fdt_scan_reserved_mem() is called. On arm64 for example, the corresponding call to early_init_dt_scan_nodes() uses fixmap addresses and doesn't suffer the same fate. Move early_init_fdt_scan_reserved_mem() further along the boot sequence, after the direct call to early_init_dt_verify() in setup_arch() so that the names use the correct virtual memory addresses. The above supposed that CONFIG_BUILTIN_DTB was not set, but should work equally in the case where it is - unflatted_and_copy_device_tree() also updates initial_boot_params.

sched/fair: Fix shift-out-of-bounds in load_balance()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sched/fair: Fix shift-out-of-bounds in load_balance() Syzbot reported a handful of occurrences where an sd->nr_balance_failed can grow to much higher values than one would expect. A successful load_balance() resets it to 0; a failed one increments it. Once it gets to sd->cache_nice_tries + 3, this *should* trigger an active balance, which will either set it to sd->cache_nice_tries+1 or reset it to 0. However, in case the to-be-active-balanced task is not allowed to run on env->dst_cpu, then the increment is done without any further modification. This could then be repeated ad nauseam, and would explain the absurdly high values reported by syzbot (86, 149). VincentG noted there is value in letting sd->cache_nice_tries grow, so the shift itself should be fixed. That means preventing: """ If the value of the right operand is negative or is greater than or equal to the width of the promoted left operand, the behavior is undefined. """ Thus we need to cap the shift exponent to BITS_PER_TYPE(typeof(lefthand)) - 1. I had a look around for other similar cases via coccinelle: @expr@ position pos; expression E1; expression E2; @@ ( E1 >> E2@pos | E1 >> E2@pos ) @cst depends on expr@ position pos; expression expr.E1; constant cst; @@ ( E1 >> cst@pos | E1 << cst@pos ) @script:python depends on !cst@ pos << expr.pos; exp << expr.E2; @@ # Dirty hack to ignore constexpr if exp.upper() != exp: coccilib.report.print_report(pos[0], "Possible UB shift here") The only other match in kernel/sched is rq_clock_thermal() which employs sched_thermal_decay_shift, and that exponent is already capped to 10, so that one is fine.

BACnet Stack WriteProperty decoding length underflow leads to OOB read and crash

BACnet Stack is a BACnet open source protocol stack C library for embedded systems. Prior to 1.5.0rc4 and 1.4.3rc2, a malformed WriteProperty request can trigger a length underflow in the BACnet stack, leading to an out‑of‑bounds read and a crash (DoS). The issue is in wp.c within wp_decode_service_request. When decoding the optional priority context tag, the code passes apdu_len - apdu_size to bacnet_unsigned_context_decode without validating that apdu_size <= apdu_len. If a truncated APDU reaches this path, apdu_len - apdu_size underflows, resulting in a large size being used for decoding and an out‑of‑bounds read. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.5.0rc4 and 1.4.3rc2.

Heap out-of-bounds read in Clickhouse's LZ4 compression codec when parsing a malicious query. As part of the LZ4::decompressImpl() loop, a 16-bit unsigned user-supplied value ('offset') is read from the compressed data. FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP Buffer Over-Read in DNS Response Parser

FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP is a lightweight TCP/IP stack for FreeRTOS. FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP versions 4.0.0 through 4.1.0 contain a buffer over-read issue in the DNS Response Parser when parsing domain names in a DNS response. A carefully crafted DNS response with domain name length value greater than the actual domain name length, could cause the parser to read beyond the DNS response buffer. This issue affects applications using DNS functionality of the FreeRTOS-Plus-TCP stack. Applications that do not use DNS functionality are not affected, even when the DNS functionality is enabled. This vulnerability has been patched in version 4.1.1.

Libssh: out-of-bounds read in sftp_handle()

A flaw was found in the libssh library in versions less than 0.11.2. An out-of-bounds read can be triggered in the sftp_handle function due to an incorrect comparison check that permits the function to access memory beyond the valid handle list and to return an invalid pointer, which is used in further processing. This vulnerability allows an authenticated remote attacker to potentially read unintended memory regions, exposing sensitive information or affect service behavior.

Out of bounds read in Tensorflow

Tensorflow is an Open Source Machine Learning Framework. TensorFlow's type inference can cause a heap out of bounds read as the bounds checking is done in a `DCHECK` (which is a no-op during production). An attacker can control the `input_idx` variable such that `ix` would be larger than the number of values in `node_t.args`. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.8.0. This is the only affected version.

Out of bounds read in Tensorflow

Tensorflow is an Open Source Machine Learning Framework. The implementation of shape inference for `ReverseSequence` does not fully validate the value of `batch_dim` and can result in a heap OOB read. There is a check to make sure the value of `batch_dim` does not go over the rank of the input, but there is no check for negative values. Negative dimensions are allowed in some cases to mimic Python's negative indexing (i.e., indexing from the end of the array), however if the value is too negative then the implementation of `Dim` would access elements before the start of an array. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.8.0. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.7.1, TensorFlow 2.6.3, and TensorFlow 2.5.3, as these are also affected and still in supported range.

Out of bounds read in Tensorflow

Tensorflow is an Open Source Machine Learning Framework. The implementation of `Dequantize` does not fully validate the value of `axis` and can result in heap OOB accesses. The `axis` argument can be `-1` (the default value for the optional argument) or any other positive value at most the number of dimensions of the input. Unfortunately, the upper bound is not checked and this results in reading past the end of the array containing the dimensions of the input tensor. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.8.0.
