arm64: extable: fix load_unaligned_zeropad() reg indices

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: arm64: extable: fix load_unaligned_zeropad() reg indices In ex_handler_load_unaligned_zeropad() we erroneously extract the data and addr register indices from ex->type rather than ex->data. As ex->type will contain EX_TYPE_LOAD_UNALIGNED_ZEROPAD (i.e. 4): * We'll always treat X0 as the address register, since EX_DATA_REG_ADDR is extracted from bits [9:5]. Thus, we may attempt to dereference an arbitrary address as X0 may hold an arbitrary value. * We'll always treat X4 as the data register, since EX_DATA_REG_DATA is extracted from bits [4:0]. Thus we will corrupt X4 and cause arbitrary behaviour within load_unaligned_zeropad() and its caller. Fix this by extracting both values from ex->data as originally intended. On an MTE-enabled QEMU image we are hitting the following crash: Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 0000000000000000 Call trace: fixup_exception+0xc4/0x108 __do_kernel_fault+0x3c/0x268 do_tag_check_fault+0x3c/0x104 do_mem_abort+0x44/0xf4 el1_abort+0x40/0x64 el1h_64_sync_handler+0x60/0xa0 el1h_64_sync+0x7c/0x80 link_path_walk+0x150/0x344 path_openat+0xa0/0x7dc do_filp_open+0xb8/0x168 do_sys_openat2+0x88/0x17c __arm64_sys_openat+0x74/0xa0 invoke_syscall+0x48/0x148 el0_svc_common+0xb8/0xf8 do_el0_svc+0x28/0x88 el0_svc+0x24/0x84 el0t_64_sync_handler+0x88/0xec el0t_64_sync+0x1b4/0x1b8 Code: f8695a69 71007d1f 540000e0 927df12a (f940014a)

The Linux kernel before 4.15-rc8 was found to be vulnerable to a NULL pointer dereference bug in the __netlink_ns_capable() function in the net/netlink/af_netlink.c file. A local attacker could exploit this when a net namespace with a netnsid is assigned to cause a kernel panic and a denial of service.

sfc: fix NULL dereferences in ef100_process_design_param()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sfc: fix NULL dereferences in ef100_process_design_param() Since cited commit, ef100_probe_main() and hence also ef100_check_design_params() run before efx->net_dev is created; consequently, we cannot netif_set_tso_max_size() or _segs() at this point. Move those netif calls to ef100_probe_netdev(), and also replace netif_err within the design params code with pci_err.

The implementation has taken consideration for future extension to include other type RX frame steering such as EtherType based. v2: - Clean up overly extensive backtrace and rewrite git message to better explain the kernel NULL pointer issue.

x86/resctrl: Fix allocation of cleanest CLOSID on platforms with no monitors

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/resctrl: Fix allocation of cleanest CLOSID on platforms with no monitors Commit 6eac36bb9eb0 ("x86/resctrl: Allocate the cleanest CLOSID by searching closid_num_dirty_rmid") added logic that causes resctrl to search for the CLOSID with the fewest dirty cache lines when creating a new control group, if requested by the arch code. This depends on the values read from the llc_occupancy counters. The logic is applicable to architectures where the CLOSID effectively forms part of the monitoring identifier and so do not allow complete freedom to choose an unused monitoring identifier for a given CLOSID. This support missed that some platforms may not have these counters. This causes a NULL pointer dereference when creating a new control group as the array was not allocated by dom_data_init(). As this feature isn't necessary on platforms that don't have cache occupancy monitors, add this to the check that occurs when a new control group is allocated.

driver core: fix potential NULL pointer dereference in dev_uevent()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: driver core: fix potential NULL pointer dereference in dev_uevent() If userspace reads "uevent" device attribute at the same time as another threads unbinds the device from its driver, change to dev->driver from a valid pointer to NULL may result in crash. Fix this by using READ_ONCE() when fetching the pointer, and take bus' drivers klist lock to make sure driver instance will not disappear while we access it. Use WRITE_ONCE() when setting the driver pointer to ensure there is no tearing.

x86/sgx: Resolves SECS reclaim vs. page fault for EAUG race

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: x86/sgx: Resolves SECS reclaim vs. page fault for EAUG race The SGX EPC reclaimer (ksgxd) may reclaim the SECS EPC page for an enclave and set secs.epc_page to NULL. The SECS page is used for EAUG and ELDU in the SGX page fault handler. However, the NULL check for secs.epc_page is only done for ELDU, not EAUG before being used. Fix this by doing the same NULL check and reloading of the SECS page as needed for both EAUG and ELDU. The SECS page holds global enclave metadata. It can only be reclaimed when there are no other enclave pages remaining. At that point, virtually nothing can be done with the enclave until the SECS page is paged back in. An enclave can not run nor generate page faults without a resident SECS page. But it is still possible for a #PF for a non-SECS page to race with paging out the SECS page: when the last resident non-SECS page A triggers a #PF in a non-resident page B, and then page A and the SECS both are paged out before the #PF on B is handled. Hitting this bug requires that race triggered with a #PF for EAUG. Following is a trace when it happens. BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 RIP: 0010:sgx_encl_eaug_page+0xc7/0x210 Call Trace: ? __kmem_cache_alloc_node+0x16a/0x440 ? xa_load+0x6e/0xa0 sgx_vma_fault+0x119/0x230 __do_fault+0x36/0x140 do_fault+0x12f/0x400 __handle_mm_fault+0x728/0x1110 handle_mm_fault+0x105/0x310 do_user_addr_fault+0x1ee/0x750 ? __this_cpu_preempt_check+0x13/0x20 exc_page_fault+0x76/0x180 asm_exc_page_fault+0x27/0x30

can: af_can: fix NULL pointer dereference in can_rx_register()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: af_can: fix NULL pointer dereference in can_rx_register() It causes NULL pointer dereference when testing as following: (a) use syscall(__NR_socket, 0x10ul, 3ul, 0) to create netlink socket. (b) use syscall(__NR_sendmsg, ...) to create bond link device and vxcan link device, and bind vxcan device to bond device (can also use ifenslave command to bind vxcan device to bond device). (c) use syscall(__NR_socket, 0x1dul, 3ul, 1) to create CAN socket. (d) use syscall(__NR_bind, ...) to bind the bond device to CAN socket. The bond device invokes the can-raw protocol registration interface to receive CAN packets. However, ml_priv is not allocated to the dev, dev_rcv_lists is assigned to NULL in can_rx_register(). The Linux Kernel versions 4.14, 4.15, and 4.16 has a null pointer dereference which can result in an out of memory (OOM) killing of large mlocked processes. The issue arises from an oom killed process's final thread calling exit_mmap(), which calls munlock_vma_pages_all() for mlocked vmas. This can happen synchronously with the oom reaper's unmap_page_range() since the vma's VM_LOCKED bit is cleared before munlocking (to determine if any other vmas share the memory and are mlocked).

ata: libata-core: fix NULL pointer deref in ata_host_alloc_pinfo()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ata: libata-core: fix NULL pointer deref in ata_host_alloc_pinfo() In an unlikely (and probably wrong?) case that the 'ppi' parameter of ata_host_alloc_pinfo() points to an array starting with a NULL pointer, there's going to be a kernel oops as the 'pi' local variable won't get reassigned from the initial value of NULL. Initialize 'pi' instead to '&ata_dummy_port_info' to fix the possible kernel oops for good... Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with the SVACE static analysis tool.

Linux: netback processing of zero-length transmit fragment

Transmit requests in Xen's virtual network protocol can consist of multiple parts. While not really useful, except for the initial part any of them may be of zero length, i.e. carry no data at all. Besides a certain initial portion of the to be transferred data, these parts are directly translated into what Linux calls SKB fragments. Such converted request parts can, when for a particular SKB they are all of length zero, lead to a de-reference of NULL in core networking code.

Fix this by adding a check for phy_dev before calling the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed() function. Also clean up the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function a bit. tipc: move bc link creation back to tipc_node_create

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tipc: move bc link creation back to tipc_node_create Shuang Li reported a NULL pointer dereference crash: [] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000068 [] RIP: 0010:tipc_link_is_up+0x5/0x10 [tipc] [] Call Trace: [] <IRQ> [] tipc_bcast_rcv+0xa2/0x190 [tipc] [] tipc_node_bc_rcv+0x8b/0x200 [tipc] [] tipc_rcv+0x3af/0x5b0 [tipc] [] tipc_udp_recv+0xc7/0x1e0 [tipc] It was caused by the 'l' passed into tipc_bcast_rcv() is NULL. When it creates a node in tipc_node_check_dest(), after inserting the new node into hashtable in tipc_node_create(), it creates the bc link. However, there is a gap between this insert and bc link creation, a bc packet may come in and get the node from the hashtable then try to dereference its bc link, which is NULL. This patch is to fix it by moving the bc link creation before inserting into the hashtable. Note that for a preliminary node becoming "real", the bc link creation should also be called before it's rehashed, as we don't create it for preliminary nodes.

net: dsa: fix NULL pointer dereference in dsa_port_reset_vlan_filtering

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: dsa: fix NULL pointer dereference in dsa_port_reset_vlan_filtering The "ds" iterator variable used in dsa_port_reset_vlan_filtering() -> dsa_switch_for_each_port() overwrites the "dp" received as argument, which is later used to call dsa_port_vlan_filtering() proper. As a result, switches which do enter that code path (the ones with vlan_filtering_is_global=true) will dereference an invalid dp in dsa_port_reset_vlan_filtering() after leaving a VLAN-aware bridge. Use a dedicated "other_dp" iterator variable to avoid this from happening.

scsi: ibmvfc: Store vhost pointer during subcrq allocation

wifi: mac80211: fix general-protection-fault in ieee80211_subif_start_xmit()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: mac80211: fix general-protection-fault in ieee80211_subif_start_xmit() When device is running and the interface status is changed, the gpf issue is triggered. The problem triggering process is as follows: Thread A: Thread B ieee80211_runtime_change_iftype() process_one_work() ... ... ieee80211_do_stop() ... ... ... sdata->bss = NULL ... ... ieee80211_subif_start_xmit() ieee80211_multicast_to_unicast //!sdata->bss->multicast_to_unicast cause gpf issue When the interface status is changed, the sending queue continues to send packets. After the bss is set to NULL, the bss is accessed. As a result, this causes a general-protection-fault issue. The following is the stack information: general protection fault, probably for non-canonical address 0xdffffc000000002f: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP KASAN KASAN: null-ptr-deref in range [0x0000000000000178-0x000000000000017f] Workqueue: mld mld_ifc_work RIP: 0010:ieee80211_subif_start_xmit+0x25b/0x1310 Call Trace: <TASK> dev_hard_start_xmit+0x1be/0x990 __dev_queue_xmit+0x2c9a/0x3b60 ip6_finish_output2+0xf92/0x1520 ip6_finish_output+0x6af/0x11e0 ip6_output+0x1ed/0x540 mld_sendpack+0xa09/0xe70 mld_ifc_work+0x71c/0xdb0 process_one_work+0x9bf/0x1710 worker_thread+0x665/0x1080 kthread+0x2e4/0x3a0 ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x30 </TASK>
