In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mISDN: fix possible memory leak in mISDN_register_device() Afer commit 1fa5ae857bb1 ("driver core: get rid of struct device's bus_id string array"), the name of device is allocated dynamically, add put_device() to give up the reference, so that the name can be freed in kobject_cleanup() when the refcount is 0. Set device class before put_device() to avoid null release() function WARN message in device_release().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: lib/string_helpers: fix not adding strarray to device's resource list Add allocated strarray to device's resource list. This is a must to automatically release strarray when the device disappears. Without this fix we have a memory leak in the few drivers which use devm_kasprintf_strarray().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rtw88: fix memory overrun and memory leak during hw_scan Previously we allocated less memory than actual required, overwrite to the buffer causes the mm module to complaint and raise access violation faults. Along with potential memory leaks when returned early. Fix these by passing the correct size and proper deinit flow.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: nfcmrvl: Fix memory leak in nfcmrvl_play_deferred Similar to the handling of play_deferred in commit 19cfe912c37b ("Bluetooth: btusb: Fix memory leak in play_deferred"), we thought a patch might be needed here as well. Currently usb_submit_urb is called directly to submit deferred tx urbs after unanchor them. So the usb_giveback_urb_bh would failed to unref it in usb_unanchor_urb and cause memory leak. Put those urbs in tx_anchor to avoid the leak, and also fix the error handling.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: m_can: pci: add missing m_can_class_free_dev() in probe/remove methods In m_can_pci_remove() and error handling path of m_can_pci_probe(), m_can_class_free_dev() should be called to free resource allocated by m_can_class_allocate_dev(), otherwise there will be memleak.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mt76: mt7915: fix possible memory leak in mt7915_mcu_add_sta Free allocated skb in mt7915_mcu_add_sta routine in case of failures.
A memory leak flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ccp_run_aes_gcm_cmd() function that allows an attacker to cause a denial of service. The vulnerability is similar to the older CVE-2019-18808. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: wwan: mhi: fix memory leak in mhi_mbim_dellink MHI driver registers network device without setting the needs_free_netdev flag, and does NOT call free_netdev() when unregisters network device, which causes a memory leak. This patch sets needs_free_netdev to true when registers network device, which makes netdev subsystem call free_netdev() automatically after unregister_netdevice().
Memory leak in QEMU (aka Quick Emulator), when built with USB EHCI Emulation support, allows local guest OS privileged users to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by repeatedly hot-unplugging the device.
A vulnerability has been found in GNU Binutils 2.43/2.44 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function display_info of the file binutils/bucomm.c of the component objdump. The manipulation leads to memory leak. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploit has been disclosed to the public and may be used. The patch is named ba6ad3a18cb26b79e0e3b84c39f707535bbc344d. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue.

It is because the memory allocated in wbt_enable_default() is not released in device_add_disk() error path. Normally, these memory are freed in: del_gendisk() rq_qos_exit() rqos->ops->exit(rqos); wbt_exit() So rq_qos_exit() is called to free the rq_wb memory for wbt_init(). However in the error path of device_add_disk(), only blk_unregister_queue() is called and make rq_wb memory leaked. Add rq_qos_exit() to the error path to fix it.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/huge_memory: Fix xarray node memory leak If xas_split_alloc() fails to allocate the necessary nodes to complete the xarray entry split, it sets the xa_state to -ENOMEM, which xas_nomem() then interprets as "Please allocate more memory", not as "Please free any unnecessary memory" (which was the intended outcome). It's confusing to use xas_nomem() to free memory in this context, so call xas_destroy() instead.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: coresight: syscfg: Fix memleak on registration failure in cscfg_create_device device_register() calls device_initialize(), according to doc of device_initialize: Use put_device() to give up your reference instead of freeing * @dev directly once you have called this function. In addition, function __check_func_call() has a similar problem. In the abnormal scenario before "state->curframe++;", the callee also should be released by free_func_state().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: rga: fix possible memory leak in rga_probe rga->m2m_dev needs to be freed when rga_probe fails.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: power: supply: ab8500: Fix memory leak in ab8500_fg_sysfs_init kobject_init_and_add() takes reference even when it fails. Gifsicle through 1.94, if deployed in a way that allows untrusted input to affect Gif_Realloc calls, might allow a denial of service (memory consumption). NOTE: this has been disputed by multiple parties because the Gifsicle code is not commonly used for unattended operation in which new input arrives for a long-running process, does not ship with functionality to link it into another application as a library, and does not have realistic use cases in which an adversary controls the entire command line.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: endpoint: Fix misused goto label Fix a misused goto label jump since that can result in a memory leak.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mt76: mt7921s: fix a possible memory leak in mt7921_load_patch Always release fw data at the end of mt7921_load_patch routine.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (coretemp) fix pci device refcount leak in nv1a_ram_new() As comment of pci_get_domain_bus_and_slot() says, it returns a pci device with refcount increment, when finish using it, the caller must decrement the reference count by calling pci_dev_put(). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/mlx5: Fix memory leak in error flow for subscribe event routine In case the second xa_insert() fails, the obj_event is not released. Fix the error unwind flow to free that memory to avoid a memory leak.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iavf: Fix handling of dummy receive descriptors Fix memory leak caused by not handling dummy receive descriptor properly. iavf_get_rx_buffer now sets the rx_buffer return value for dummy receive descriptors. Without this patch, when the hardware writes a dummy descriptor, iavf would not free the page allocated for the previous receive buffer. This is an unlikely event but can still happen. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/pci: fix memory leak during D3hot to D0 transition If 'vfio_pci_core_device::needs_pm_restore' is set (PCI device does not have No_Soft_Reset bit set in its PMCSR config register), then the current PCI state will be saved locally in 'vfio_pci_core_device::pm_save' during D0->D3hot transition and same will be restored back during D3hot->D0 transition. For saving the PCI state locally, pci_store_saved_state() is being used and the pci_load_and_free_saved_state() will free the allocated memory. But for reset related IOCTLs, vfio driver calls PCI reset-related API's which will internally change the PCI power state back to D0. So, when the guest resumes, then it will get the current state as D0 and it will skip the call to vfio_pci_set_power_state() for changing the power state to D0 explicitly. In this case, the memory pointed by 'pm_save' will never be freed. In a malicious sequence, the state changing to D3hot followed by VFIO_DEVICE_RESET/VFIO_DEVICE_PCI_HOT_RESET can be run in a loop and it can cause an OOM situation. This patch frees the earlier allocated memory first before overwriting 'pm_save' to prevent the mentioned memory leak.

Yet the problem is that, HCI core may not free the skb after handling ACL data packets. To be more specific, when start fragment does not contain the L2CAP length, HCI core just copies skb into conn->rx_skb and finishes frame process in l2cap_recv_acldata(), without freeing the skb, which triggers the above memory leak. This patch solves it by releasing the relative skb, after processing the above case in l2cap_recv_acldata().
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: staging: rtl8712: fix a potential memory leak in r871xu_drv_init() In r871xu_drv_init(), if r8712_init_drv_sw() fails, then the memory allocated by r8712_alloc_io_queue() in r8712_usb_dvobj_init() is not properly released as there is no action will be performed by r8712_usb_dvobj_deinit(). To properly release it, we should call r8712_free_io_queue() in r8712_usb_dvobj_deinit(). Besides, in r871xu_dev_remove(), r8712_usb_dvobj_deinit() will be called by r871x_dev_unload() under condition `padapter->bup` and r8712_free_io_queue() is called by r8712_free_drv_sw(). However, r8712_usb_dvobj_deinit() does not rely on `padapter->bup` and calling r8712_free_io_queue() in r8712_free_drv_sw() is negative for better understading the code. So I move r8712_usb_dvobj_deinit() into r871xu_dev_remove(), and remove r8712_free_io_queue() from r8712_free_drv_sw().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jffs2: fix memory leak in jffs2_do_mount_fs If jffs2_build_filesystem() in jffs2_do_mount_fs() returns an error, we can observe the following kmemleak report: -------------------------------------------- unreferenced object 0xffff88811b25a640 (size 64): comm "mount", pid 691, jiffies 4294957728 (age 71.952s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ backtrace: [<ffffffffa493be24>] kmem_cache_alloc_trace+0x584/0x880 [<ffffffffa5423a06>] jffs2_sum_init+0x86/0x130 [<ffffffffa5400e58>] jffs2_do_mount_fs+0x798/0xac0 [<ffffffffa540acf3>] jffs2_do_fill_super+0x383/0xc30 [<ffffffffa540c00a>] jffs2_fill_super+0x2ea/0x4c0 [...] unreferenced object 0xffff88812c760000 (size 65536): comm "mount", pid 691, jiffies 4294957728 (age 71.952s) hex dump (first 32 bytes): bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb ................ bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb bb ................ backtrace: [<ffffffffa493a449>] __kmalloc+0x6b9/0x910 [<ffffffffa5423a57>] jffs2_sum_init+0xd7/0x130 [<ffffffffa5400e58>] jffs2_do_mount_fs+0x798/0xac0 [<ffffffffa540acf3>] jffs2_do_fill_super+0x383/0xc30 [<ffffffffa540c00a>] jffs2_fill_super+0x2ea/0x4c0 [...] -------------------------------------------- This is because the resources allocated in jffs2_sum_init() are not released. Call jffs2_sum_exit() to release these resources to solve the problem.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nfc: st21nfca: fix memory leaks in EVT_TRANSACTION handling Error paths do not free previously allocated memory. Add devm_kfree() to those failure paths.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm: msm: fix possible memory leak in mdp5_crtc_cursor_set() drm_gem_object_lookup will call drm_gem_object_get inside. So cursor_bo needs to be put when msm_gem_get_and_pin_iova fails.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/cm: Fix memory leak in ib_cm_insert_listen cm_alloc_id_priv() allocates resource for the cm_id_priv. When cm_init_listen() fails it doesn't free it, leading to memory leak. Add the missing error unwind.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/i915: Fix a memory leak with reused mmap_offset drm_vma_node_allow() and drm_vma_node_revoke() should be called in balanced pairs. We call drm_vma_node_allow() once per-file everytime a user calls mmap_offset, but only call drm_vma_node_revoke once per-file on each mmap_offset. As the mmap_offset is reused by the client, the per-file vm_count may remain non-zero and the rbtree leaked. Call drm_vma_node_allow_once() instead to prevent that memory leak.
