pypdf possible Infinite Loop when PdfWriter(clone_from) is used with a PDF

pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. An attacker who uses a vulnerability present in versions 3.7.0 through 3.16.4 can craft a PDF which leads to an infinite loop. This infinite loop blocks the current process and can utilize a single core of the CPU by 100%. It does not affect memory usage. That is, for example, the case when the pypdf-user manipulates an incoming malicious PDF e.g. by merging it with another PDF or by adding annotations. The issue was fixed in version 3.17.0. As a workaround, apply the patch manually by modifying `pypdf/generic/_data_structures.py`.

A specially crafted ZIP archive can be used to cause an infinite loop inside of Apache Commons Compress' extra field parser used by the ZipFile and ZipArchiveInputStream classes in versions 1.11 to 1.15. This can be used to mount a denial of service attack against services that use Compress' zip package.

GPAC version before commit 71460d72ec07df766dab0a4d52687529f3efcf0a (version v1.0.1 onwards) contains loop with unreachable exit condition ('infinite loop') vulnerability in ISOBMFF reader filter, isoffin_read.c. Function isoffin_process() can result in DoS by infinite loop. To exploit, the victim must open a specially crafted mp4 file.

Denial of service due to infinite loop in JpegBase::printStructure (#1)

Exiv2 is a command-line utility and C++ library for reading, writing, deleting, and modifying the metadata of image files. An infinite loop was found in Exiv2 versions v0.27.4 and earlier. The infinite loop is triggered when Exiv2 is used to modify the metadata of a crafted image file. An attacker could potentially exploit the vulnerability to cause a denial of service, if they can trick the victim into running Exiv2 on a crafted image file. Note that this bug is only triggered when deleting the IPTC data, which is a less frequently used Exiv2 operation that requires an extra command line option (`-d I rm`). The bug is fixed in version v0.27.5.
