In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/nouveau: avoid a use-after-free when BO init fails nouveau_bo_init() is backed by ttm_bo_init() and ferries its return code back to the caller. On failures, ttm_bo_init() invokes the provided destructor which should de-initialize and free the memory. Thus, when nouveau_bo_init() returns an error the gem object has already been released and the memory freed by nouveau_bo_del_ttm().
A use-after-free flaw was found in Linux kernel before 5.19.2. This issue occurs in cmd_hdl_filter in drivers/staging/rtl8712/rtl8712_cmd.c, allowing an attacker to launch a local denial of service attack and gain escalation of privileges.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Fix off by one in hdmi_14_process_transaction() The hdcp_i2c_offsets[] array did not have an entry for HDCP_MESSAGE_ID_WRITE_CONTENT_STREAM_TYPE so it led to an off by one read overflow. I added an entry and copied the 0x0 value for the offset from similar code in drivers/gpu/drm/amd/display/modules/hdcp/hdcp_ddc.c. I also declared several of these arrays as having HDCP_MESSAGE_ID_MAX entries. This doesn't change the code, but it's just a belt and suspenders approach to try future proof the code.
A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel MCTP (Management Component Transport Protocol) functionality. This issue occurs when a user simultaneously calls DROPTAG ioctl and socket close happens, which could allow a local user to crash the system or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.
Use After Free vulnerability in Linux Kernel allows Privilege Escalation. An improper Update of Reference Count in io_uring leads to Use-After-Free and Local Privilege Escalation. When io_msg_ring was invoked with a fixed file, it called io_fput_file() which improperly decreased its reference count (leading to Use-After-Free and Local Privilege Escalation). Fixed files are permanently registered to the ring, and should not be put separately. We recommend upgrading past commit https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/fc7222c3a9f56271fba02aabbfbae999042f1679 https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/fc7222c3a9f56271fba02aabbfbae999042f1679
artswrapper in aRts, when running setuid root on Linux 2.6.0 or later versions, does not check the return value of the setuid function call, which allows local users to gain root privileges by causing setuid to fail, which prevents artsd from dropping privileges.
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 4.18.8. The vmacache_flush_all function in mm/vmacache.c mishandles sequence number overflows. An attacker can trigger a use-after-free (and possibly gain privileges) via certain thread creation, map, unmap, invalidation, and dereference operations.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: davinci: vpif: fix use-after-free on driver unbind The driver allocates and registers two platform device structures during probe, but the devices were never deregistered on driver unbind. This results in a use-after-free on driver unbind as the device structures were allocated using devres and would be freed by driver core when remove() returns. Fix this by adding the missing deregistration calls to the remove() callback and failing probe on registration errors. Note that the platform device structures must be freed using a proper release callback to avoid leaking associated resources like device names.
An out-of-bounds (OOB) memory access flaw was found in x25_bind in net/x25/af_x25.c in the Linux kernel version v5.12-rc5. A bounds check failure allows a local attacker with a user account on the system to gain access to out-of-bounds memory, leading to a system crash or a leak of internal kernel information. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: Fix potential out-of-bounds access in 'amdgpu_discovery_reg_base_init()' The issue arises when the array 'adev->vcn.vcn_config' is accessed before checking if the index 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' is within the bounds of the array. The fix involves moving the bounds check before the array access. This ensures that 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' is within the bounds of the array before it is used as an index. Fixes the below: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/amdgpu_discovery.c:1289 amdgpu_discovery_reg_base_init() error: testing array offset 'adev->vcn.num_vcn_inst' after use.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Track subprog poke descriptors correctly and fix use-after-free Subprograms are calling map_poke_track(), but on program release there is no hook to call map_poke_untrack(). However, on program release, the aux memory (and poke descriptor table) is freed even though we still have a reference to it in the element list of the map aux data. When we run map_poke_run(), we then end up accessing free'd memory, triggering KASAN in prog_array_map_poke_run(): [...] [ 402.824689] BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in prog_array_map_poke_run+0xc2/0x34e [ 402.824698] Read of size 4 at addr ffff8881905a7940 by task hubble-fgs/4337 [ 402.824705] CPU: 1 PID: 4337 Comm: hubble-fgs Tainted: G I 5.12.0+ #399 [ 402.824715] Call Trace: [ 402.824719] dump_stack+0x93/0xc2 [ 402.824727] print_address_description.constprop.0+0x1a/0x140 [ 402.824736] ? prog_array_map_poke_run+0xc2/0x34e [ 402.824740] ? prog_array_map_poke_run+0xc2/0x34e [ 402.824744] kasan_report.cold+0x7c/0xd8 [ 402.824752] ? prog_array_map_poke_run+0xc2/0x34e [ 402.824757] prog_array_map_poke_run+0xc2/0x34e [ 402.824765] bpf_fd_array_map_update_elem+0x124/0x1a0 [...] The elements concerned are walked as follows: for (i = 0; i < elem->aux->size_poke_tab; i++) { poke = &elem->aux->poke_tab[i]; [...] The access to size_poke_tab is a 4 byte read, verified by checking offsets in the KASAN dump: [ 402.825004] The buggy address belongs to the object at ffff8881905a7800 which belongs to the cache kmalloc-1k of size 1024 [ 402.825008] The buggy address is located 320 bytes inside of 1024-byte region [ffff8881905a7800, ffff8881905a7c00) The pahole output of bpf_prog_aux: struct bpf_prog_aux { [...] /* --- cacheline 5 boundary (320 bytes) --- */ u32 size_poke_tab; /* 320 4 */ [...] In general, subprograms do not necessarily manage their own data structures. For example, BTF func_info and linfo are just pointers to the main program structure. This allows reference counting and cleanup to be done on the latter which simplifies their management a bit. The aux->poke_tab struct, however, did not follow this logic. The initial proposed fix for this use-after-free bug further embedded poke data tracking into the subprogram with proper reference counting. However, Daniel and Alexei questioned why we were treating these objects special; I agree, its unnecessary. The fix here removes the per subprogram poke table allocation and map tracking and instead simply points the aux->poke_tab pointer at the main programs poke table. This way, map tracking is simplified to the main program and we do not need to manage them per subprogram. This also means, bpf_prog_free_deferred(), which unwinds the program reference counting and kfrees objects, needs to ensure that we don't try to double free the poke_tab when free'ing the subprog structures. This is easily solved by NULL'ing the poke_tab pointer. The second detail is to ensure that per subprogram JIT logic only does fixups on poke_tab[] entries it owns. To do this, we add a pointer in the poke structure to point at the subprogram value so JITs can easily check while walking the poke_tab structure if the current entry belongs to the current program. The aux pointer is stable and therefore suitable for such comparison. On the jit_subprogs() error path, we omit cleaning up the poke->aux field because these are only ever referenced from the JIT side, but on error we will never make it to the JIT, so its fine to leave them dangling. Removing these pointers would complicate the error path for no reason. However, we do need to untrack all poke descriptors from the main program as otherwise they could race with the freeing of JIT memory from the subprograms. ZSTD_getCParams_internal+0x220/0x220 kthread+0xdc/0x120 ? __btf_name_valid+0xa0/0xa0 ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x30 This is because we're completing the nfs_direct_request twice in a row. The source of this is when we have our commit requests to submit, we process them and send them off, and then in the completion path for the commit requests we have if (nfs_commit_end(cinfo.mds)) nfs_direct_write_complete(dreq); However since we're submitting asynchronous requests we sometimes have one that completes before we submit the next one, so we end up calling complete on the nfs_direct_request twice. The only other place we use nfs_generic_commit_list() is in __nfs_commit_inode, which wraps this call in a nfs_commit_begin(); nfs_commit_end(); Which is a common pattern for this style of completion handling, one that is also repeated in the direct code with get_dreq()/put_dreq() calls around where we process events as well as in the completion paths. Fix this by using the same pattern for the commit requests. Before with my 200 node rocksdb stress running this warning would pop every 10ish minutes. With my patch the stress test has been running for several hours without popping.

"IBM InfoSphere Information Server 11.7 could allow a locally authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system by sending a specially crafted request. IBM X-"Force ID: 231361.
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel before 5.9.3. io_uring takes a non-refcounted reference to the files_struct of the process that submitted a request, causing execve() to incorrectly optimize unshare_fd(), aka CID-0f2122045b94.
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.18.9. A type confusion bug in nft_set_elem_init (leading to a buffer overflow) could be used by a local attacker to escalate privileges, a different vulnerability than CVE-2022-32250. (The attacker can obtain root access, but must start with an unprivileged user namespace to obtain CAP_NET_ADMIN access.) This can be fixed in nft_setelem_parse_data in net/netfilter/nf_tables_api.c.

A use-after-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s SGI GRU driver in the way the first gru_file_unlocked_ioctl function is called by the user, where a fail pass occurs in the gru_check_chiplet_assignment function. This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.
A double-free flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s NTFS3 subsystem in how a user triggers remount and umount simultaneously. This flaw allows a local user to crash or potentially escalate their privileges on the system.
Vulnerability in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product of Oracle Virtualization (component: Core). Supported versions that are affected are Prior to 7.0.16. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox. Note: This vulnerability applies to Linux hosts only. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.8 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: gfs2: Fix use-after-free in gfs2_glock_shrink_scan The GLF_LRU flag is checked under lru_lock in gfs2_glock_remove_from_lru() to remove the glock from the lru list in __gfs2_glock_put(). On the shrink scan path, the same flag is cleared under lru_lock but because of cond_resched_lock(&lru_lock) in gfs2_dispose_glock_lru(), progress on the put side can be made without deleting the glock from the lru list. Keep GLF_LRU across the race window opened by cond_resched_lock(&lru_lock) to ensure correct behavior on both sides - clear GLF_LRU after list_del under lru_lock.
A locking issue was discovered in the tty subsystem of the Linux kernel through 5.9.13. drivers/tty/tty_jobctrl.c allows a use-after-free attack against TIOCSPGRP, aka CID-54ffccbf053b.
NVIDIA GPU Display Driver for Linux contains a vulnerability in the kernel mode layer (nvidia.ko), where a local user with basic capabilities can cause improper input validation, which may lead to denial of service, escalation of privileges, data tampering, and limited information disclosure.
VMware Workspace ONE Access, Identity Manager and vRealize Automation contain two privilege escalation vulnerabilities. A malicious actor with local access can escalate privileges to 'root'.
There exists a use-after-free in io_uring in the Linux kernel. Signalfd_poll() and binder_poll() use a waitqueue whose lifetime is the current task. It will send a POLLFREE notification to all waiters before the queue is freed. Unfortunately, the io_uring poll doesn't handle POLLFREE. This allows a use-after-free to occur if a signalfd or binder fd is polled with io_uring poll, and the waitqueue gets freed. We recommend upgrading past commit fc78b2fc21f10c4c9c4d5d659a685710ffa63659
VMware Workspace ONE Access, Identity Manager and vRealize Automation contain a privilege escalation vulnerability. A malicious actor with local access can escalate privileges to 'root'.
net/netfilter/nf_tables_api.c in the Linux kernel through 5.18.1 allows a local user (able to create user/net namespaces) to escalate privileges to root because an incorrect NFT_STATEFUL_EXPR check leads to a use-after-free.
An issue was discovered in xenvif_set_hash_mapping in drivers/net/xen-netback/hash.c in the Linux kernel through 4.18.1, as used in Xen through 4.11.x and other products. The Linux netback driver allows frontends to control mapping of requests to request queues. When processing a request to set or change this mapping, some input validation (e.g., for an integer overflow) was missing or flawed, leading to OOB access in hash handling. A malicious or buggy frontend may cause the (usually privileged) backend to make out of bounds memory accesses, potentially resulting in one or more of privilege escalation, Denial of Service (DoS), or information leaks.
VMware Tools (12.0.0, 11.x.y and 10.x.y) contains a local privilege escalation vulnerability. A malicious actor with local non-administrative access to the Guest OS can escalate privileges as a root user in the virtual machine.
A buffer overflow vulnerability in the Rubrik Backup Service (RBS) Agent for Linux or Unix-based systems in Rubrik CDM 7.0.1, 7.0.1-p1, 7.0.1-p2 or 7.0.1-p3 before CDM 7.0.2-p2 could allow a local attacker to obtain root privileges by sending a crafted message to the RBS agent.
The Linux kernel before 5.17.2 mishandles seccomp permissions. The PTRACE_SEIZE code path allows attackers to bypass intended restrictions on setting the PT_SUSPEND_SECCOMP flag.
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel’s implementation of MIDI, where an attacker with a local account and the permissions to issue ioctl commands to midi devices could trigger a use-after-free issue. A write to this specific memory while freed and before use causes the flow of execution to change and possibly allow for memory corruption or privilege escalation. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability.
A flaw was found in the JFS filesystem code in the Linux Kernel which allows a local attacker with the ability to set extended attributes to panic the system, causing memory corruption or escalating privileges. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability.
An issue was discovered in the Linux kernel through 5.17.5. io_rw_init_file in fs/io_uring.c lacks initialization of kiocb->private.
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: can: pch_can: pch_can_rx_normal: fix use after free After calling netif_receive_skb(skb), dereferencing skb is unsafe. Especially, the can_frame cf which aliases skb memory is dereferenced just after the call netif_receive_skb(skb). Reordering the lines solves the issue.
drivers/media/usb/dvb-usb/cxusb.c in the Linux kernel 4.9.x and 4.10.x before 4.10.12 interacts incorrectly with the CONFIG_VMAP_STACK option, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (system crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by leveraging use of more than one virtual page for a DMA scatterlist.
drivers/infiniband/ulp/rtrs/rtrs-clt.c in the Linux kernel before 5.16.12 has a double free related to rtrs_clt_dev_release.
In the Linux kernel before 5.17, an error path in dwc3_qcom_acpi_register_core in drivers/usb/dwc3/dwc3-qcom.c lacks certain platform_device_put and kfree calls.
