wifi: ath12k: fix dfs-radar and temperature event locking

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: fix dfs-radar and temperature event locking The ath12k active pdevs are protected by RCU but the DFS-radar and temperature event handling code calling ath12k_mac_get_ar_by_pdev_id() was not marked as a read-side critical section. Mark the code in question as RCU read-side critical sections to avoid any potential use-after-free issues. Note that the temperature event handler looks like a place holder currently but would still trigger an RCU lockdep splat. Compile tested only.

mlxsw: spectrum_buffers: Fix memory corruptions on Spectrum-4 systems

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: spectrum_buffers: Fix memory corruptions on Spectrum-4 systems The following two shared buffer operations make use of the Shared Buffer Status Register (SBSR): # devlink sb occupancy snapshot pci/0000:01:00.0 # devlink sb occupancy clearmax pci/0000:01:00.0 The register has two masks of 256 bits to denote on which ingress / egress ports the register should operate on. Spectrum-4 has more than 256 ports, so the register was extended by cited commit with a new 'port_page' field. However, when filling the register's payload, the driver specifies the ports as absolute numbers and not relative to the first port of the port page, resulting in memory corruptions [1]. Fix by specifying the ports relative to the first port of the port page. cachefiles: flush all requests after setting CACHEFILES_DEAD

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cachefiles: flush all requests after setting CACHEFILES_DEAD In ondemand mode, when the daemon is processing an open request, if the kernel flags the cache as CACHEFILES_DEAD, the cachefiles_daemon_write() will always return -EIO, so the daemon can't pass the copen to the kernel. Then the kernel process that is waiting for the copen triggers a hung_task. Since the DEAD state is irreversible, it can only be exited by closing /dev/cachefiles. Therefore, after calling cachefiles_io_error() to mark the cache as CACHEFILES_DEAD, if in ondemand mode, flush all requests to avoid the above hungtask. We may still be able to read some of the cached data before closing the fd of /dev/cachefiles. Note that this relies on the patch that adds reference counting to the req, otherwise it may UAF.

xhci: Handle TD clearing for multiple streams case

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xhci: Handle TD clearing for multiple streams case When multiple streams are in use, multiple TDs might be in flight when an endpoint is stopped. We need to issue a Set TR Dequeue Pointer for each, to ensure everything is reset properly and the caches cleared. Change the logic so that any N>1 TDs found active for different streams are deferred until after the first one is processed, calling xhci_invalidate_cancelled_tds() again from xhci_handle_cmd_set_deq() to queue another command until we are done with all of them. Also change the error/"should never happen" paths to ensure we at least clear any affected TDs, even if we can't issue a command to clear the hardware cache, and complain loudly with an xhci_warn() if this ever happens. This problem case dates back to commit e9df17eb1408 ("USB: xhci: Correct assumptions about number of rings per endpoint.") early on in the XHCI driver's life, when stream support was first added. It was then identified but not fixed nor made into a warning in commit 674f8438c121 ("xhci: split handling halted endpoints into two steps"), which added a FIXME comment for the problem case (without materially changing the behavior as far as I can tell, though the new logic made the problem more obvious). Then later, in commit 94f339147fc3 ("xhci: Fix failure to give back some cached cancelled URBs."), it was acknowledged again. [Mathias: commit 94f339147fc3 ("xhci: Fix failure to give back some cached cancelled URBs.") was a targeted regression fix to the previously mentioned patch. Users reported issues with usb stuck after unmounting/disconnecting UAS devices. This rolled back the TD clearing of multiple streams to its original state.] Apparently the commit author was aware of the problem (yet still chose to submit it): It was still mentioned as a FIXME, an xhci_dbg() was added to log the problem condition, and the remaining issue was mentioned in the commit description. The choice of making the log type xhci_dbg() for what is, at this point, a completely unhandled and known broken condition is puzzling and unfortunate, as it guarantees that no actual users would see the log in production, thereby making it nigh undebuggable (indeed, even if you turn on DEBUG, the message doesn't really hint at there being a problem at all). It took me *months* of random xHC crashes to finally find a reliable repro and be able to do a deep dive debug session, which could all have been avoided had this unhandled, broken condition been actually reported with a warning, as it should have been as a bug intentionally left in unfixed (never mind that it shouldn't have been left in at all). > Another fix to solve clearing the caches of all stream rings with > cancelled TDs is needed, but not as urgent. 3 years after that statement and 14 years after the original bug was introduced, I think it's finally time to fix it. And maybe next time let's not leave bugs unfixed (that are actually worse than the original bug), and let's actually get people to review kernel commits please. Fixes xHC crashes and IOMMU faults with UAS devices when handling errors/faults. Easiest repro is to use `hdparm` to mark an early sector (e.g. 1024) on a disk as bad, then `cat /dev/sdX > /dev/null` in a loop. At least in the case of JMicron controllers, the read errors end up having to cancel two TDs (for two queued requests to different streams) and the one that didn't get cleared properly ends up faulting the xHC entirely when it tries to access DMA pages that have since been unmapped, referred to by the stale TDs. This normally happens quickly (after two or three loops). After this fix, I left the `cat` in a loop running overnight and experienced no xHC failures, with all read errors recovered properly. Repro'd and tested on an Apple M1 Mac Mini (dwc3 host). On systems without an IOMMU, this bug would instead silently corrupt freed memory, making this a ---truncated---

KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Prevent UAF in kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Prevent UAF in kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group() Al reported a possible use-after-free (UAF) in kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group(). It looks up `stt` from tablefd, but then continues to use it after doing fdput() on the returned fd. After the fdput() the tablefd is free to be closed by another thread. The close calls kvm_spapr_tce_release() and then release_spapr_tce_table() (via call_rcu()) which frees `stt`. Although there are calls to rcu_read_lock() in kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group() they are not sufficient to prevent the UAF, because `stt` is used outside the locked regions. With an artifcial delay after the fdput() and a userspace program which triggers the race, KASAN detects the UAF: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group+0x298/0x720 [kvm] Read of size 4 at addr c000200027552c30 by task kvm-vfio/2505 CPU: 54 PID: 2505 Comm: kvm-vfio Not tainted 6.10.0-rc3-next-20240612-dirty #1 Hardware name: 8335-GTH POWER9 0x4e1202 opal:skiboot-v6.5.3-35-g1851b2a06 PowerNV Call Trace: dump_stack_lvl+0xb4/0x108 (unreliable) print_report+0x2b4/0x6ec kasan_report+0x118/0x2b0 __asan_load4+0xb8/0xd0 kvm_spapr_tce_attach_iommu_group+0x298/0x720 [kvm] kvm_vfio_set_attr+0x524/0xac0 [kvm] kvm_device_ioctl+0x144/0x240 [kvm] sys_ioctl+0x62c/0x1810 system_call_exception+0x190/0x440 system_call_vectored_common+0x15c/0x2ec ... To keep the patch minimal add a call to fdput() at each of the existing return paths. Future work can convert the function to goto or __cleanup style cleanup. With the fix in place the test case no longer triggers the UAF.

filelock: fix potential use-after-free in posix_lock_inode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: filelock: fix potential use-after-free in posix_lock_inode Light Hsieh reported a KASAN UAF warning in trace_posix_lock_inode(). The request pointer had been changed earlier to point to a lock entry that was added to the inode's list. However, before the tracepoint could fire, another task raced in and freed that lock. Fix this by moving the tracepoint inside the spinlock, which should ensure that this doesn't happen.

This issue is caused by issuing a restore command when the daemon is still alive, which results in a request being processed multiple times thus triggering a UAF. So to avoid this problem, add an additional reference count to cachefiles_req, which is held while waiting and reading, and then released when the waiting and reading is over. Note that since there is only one reference count for waiting, we need to avoid the same request being completed multiple times, so we can only complete the request if it is successfully removed from the xarray.

vhost_vdpa: assign irq bypass producer token correctly

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vhost_vdpa: assign irq bypass producer token correctly We used to call irq_bypass_unregister_producer() in vhost_vdpa_setup_vq_irq() which is problematic as we don't know if the token pointer is still valid or not. Actually, we use the eventfd_ctx as the token so the life cycle of the token should be bound to the VHOST_SET_VRING_CALL instead of vhost_vdpa_setup_vq_irq() which could be called by set_status(). Fixing this by setting up irq bypass producer's token when handling VHOST_SET_VRING_CALL and un-registering the producer before calling vhost_vring_ioctl() to prevent a possible use after free as eventfd could have been released in vhost_vring_ioctl(). And such registering and unregistering will only be done if DRIVER_OK is set.

ublk: fix use-after-free in ublk_partition_scan_work

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ublk: fix use-after-free in ublk_partition_scan_work A race condition exists between the async partition scan work and device teardown that can lead to a use-after-free of ub->ub_disk: 1. ublk_ctrl_start_dev() schedules partition_scan_work after add_disk() 2. ublk_stop_dev() calls ublk_stop_dev_unlocked() which does: - del_gendisk(ub->ub_disk) - ublk_detach_disk() sets ub->ub_disk = NULL - put_disk() which may free the disk 3. The worker ublk_partition_scan_work() then dereferences ub->ub_disk leading to UAF Fix this by using ublk_get_disk()/ublk_put_disk() in the worker to hold a reference to the disk during the partition scan. The spinlock in ublk_get_disk() synchronizes with ublk_detach_disk() ensuring the worker either gets a valid reference or sees NULL and exits early. Also change flush_work() to cancel_work_sync() to avoid running the partition scan work unnecessarily when the disk is already detached.

iio: mma8452: Fix trigger reference couting

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: mma8452: Fix trigger reference couting The mma8452 driver directly assigns a trigger to the struct iio_dev. The IIO core when done using this trigger will call `iio_trigger_put()` to drop the reference count by 1. Without the matching `iio_trigger_get()` in the driver the reference count can reach 0 too early, the trigger gets freed while still in use and a use-after-free occurs. Fix this by getting a reference to the trigger before assigning it to the IIO device.

scsi: mpt3sas: Fix kernel panic during drive powercycle test

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: mpt3sas: Fix kernel panic during drive powercycle test While looping over shost's sdev list it is possible that one of the drives is getting removed and its sas_target object is freed but its sdev object remains intact. Consequently, a kernel panic can occur while the driver is trying to access the sas_address field of sas_target object without also checking the sas_target object for NULL.

sch_cake: do not call cake_destroy() from cake_init()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sch_cake: do not call cake_destroy() from cake_init() qdiscs are not supposed to call their own destroy() method from init(), because core stack already does that. syzbot was able to trigger use after free: DEBUG_LOCKS_WARN_ON(lock->magic != lock) WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 21902 at kernel/locking/mutex.c:586 __mutex_lock_common kernel/locking/mutex.c:586 [inline] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 21902 at kernel/locking/mutex.c:586 __mutex_lock+0x9ec/0x12f0 kernel/locking/mutex.c:740 Modules linked in: CPU: 0 PID: 21902 Comm: syz-executor189 Not tainted 5.16.0-rc4-syzkaller #0 Hardware name: Google Google Compute Engine/Google Compute Engine, BIOS Google 01/01/2011 RIP: 0010:__mutex_lock_common kernel/locking/mutex.c:586 [inline] RIP: 0010:__mutex_lock+0x9ec/0x12f0 kernel/locking/mutex.c:740 Code: 08 84 d2 0f 85 19 08 00 00 8b 05 97 38 4b 04 85 c0 0f 85 27 f7 ff ff 48 c7 c6 20 00 ac 89 48 c7 c7 a0 fe ab 89 e8 bf 76 ba ff <0f> 0b e9 0d f7 ff ff 48 8b 44 24 40 48 8d b8 c8 08 00 00 48 89 f8 RSP: 0018:ffffc9000627f290 EFLAGS: 00010282 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: 0000000000000000 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: ffff88802315d700 RSI: ffffffff815f1db8 RDI: fffff52000c4fe44 RBP: ffff88818f28e000 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: ffffffff815ebb5e R11: 0000000000000000 R12: 0000000000000000 R13: dffffc0000000000 R14: ffffc9000627f458 R15: 0000000093c30000 FS: 0000555556abc400(0000) GS:ffff8880b9c00000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 00007fda689c3303 CR3: 000000001cfbb000 CR4: 0000000000350ef0 Call Trace: <TASK> tcf_chain0_head_change_cb_del+0x2e/0x3d0 net/sched/cls_api.c:810 tcf_block_put_ext net/sched/cls_api.c:1381 [inline] tcf_block_put_ext net/sched/cls_api.c:1376 [inline] tcf_block_put+0xbc/0x130 net/sched/cls_api.c:1394 cake_destroy+0x3f/0x80 net/sched/sch_cake.c:2695 qdisc_create.constprop.0+0x9da/0x10f0 net/sched/sch_api.c:1293 tc_modify_qdisc+0x4c5/0x1980 net/sched/sch_api.c:1660 rtnetlink_rcv_msg+0x413/0xb80 net/core/rtnetlink.c:5571 netlink_rcv_skb+0x153/0x420 net/netlink/af_netlink.c:2496 netlink_unicast_kernel net/netlink/af_netlink.c:1319 [inline] netlink_unicast+0x533/0x7d0 net/netlink/af_netlink.c:1345 netlink_sendmsg+0x904/0xdf0 net/netlink/af_netlink.c:1921 sock_sendmsg_nosec net/socket.c:704 [inline] sock_sendmsg+0xcf/0x120 net/socket.c:724 ____sys_sendmsg+0x6e8/0x810 net/socket.c:2409 ___sys_sendmsg+0xf3/0x170 net/socket.c:2463 __sys_sendmsg+0xe5/0x1b0 net/socket.c:2492 do_syscall_x64 arch/x86/entry/common.c:50 [inline] do_syscall_64+0x35/0xb0 arch/x86/entry/common.c:80 entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe+0x44/0xae RIP: 0033:0x7f1bb06badb9 Code: Unable to access opcode bytes at RIP 0x7f1bb06bad8f.
