SUNRPC: Fix the svc_deferred_event trace class

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: SUNRPC: Fix the svc_deferred_event trace class Fix a NULL deref crash that occurs when an svc_rqst is deferred while the sunrpc tracing subsystem is enabled. svc_revisit() sets dr->xprt to NULL, so it can't be relied upon in the tracepoint to provide the remote's address. Unfortunately we can't revert the "svc_deferred_class" hunk in commit ece200ddd54b ("sunrpc: Save remote presentation address in svc_xprt for trace events") because there is now a specific check of event format specifiers for unsafe dereferences. The warning that check emits is: event svc_defer_recv has unsafe dereference of argument 1 A "%pISpc" format specifier with a "struct sockaddr *" is indeed flagged by this check. Instead, take the brute-force approach used by the svcrdma_qp_error tracepoint. Convert the dr::addr field into a presentation address in the TP_fast_assign() arm of the trace event, and store that as a string. This fix can be backported to -stable kernels. In the meantime, commit c6ced22997ad ("tracing: Update print fmt check to handle new __get_sockaddr() macro") is now in v5.18, so this wonky fix can be replaced with __sockaddr() and friends properly during the v5.19 merge window.

Other changes: - hfi1_ipoib_free_rdma_netdev() is deleted including the free_netdev() since the netdev core code deletes calls free_netdev() - The switch to the accelerated entrances is moved to the success path.

iommu/omap: Fix regression in probe for NULL pointer dereference

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/omap: Fix regression in probe for NULL pointer dereference Commit 3f6634d997db ("iommu: Use right way to retrieve iommu_ops") started triggering a NULL pointer dereference for some omap variants: __iommu_probe_device from probe_iommu_group+0x2c/0x38 probe_iommu_group from bus_for_each_dev+0x74/0xbc bus_for_each_dev from bus_iommu_probe+0x34/0x2e8 bus_iommu_probe from bus_set_iommu+0x80/0xc8 bus_set_iommu from omap_iommu_init+0x88/0xcc omap_iommu_init from do_one_initcall+0x44/0x24 This is caused by omap iommu probe returning 0 instead of ERR_PTR(-ENODEV) as noted by Jason Gunthorpe <jgg@ziepe.ca>. Looks like the regression already happened with an earlier commit 6785eb9105e3 ("iommu/omap: Convert to probe/release_device() call-backs") that changed the function return type and missed converting one place.

xen/netfront: destroy queues before real_num_tx_queues is zeroed

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xen/netfront: destroy queues before real_num_tx_queues is zeroed xennet_destroy_queues() relies on info->netdev->real_num_tx_queues to delete queues. Since d7dac083414eb5bb99a6d2ed53dc2c1b405224e5 ("net-sysfs: update the queue counts in the unregistration path"), unregister_netdev() indirectly sets real_num_tx_queues to 0. Those two facts together means, that xennet_destroy_queues() called from xennet_remove() cannot do its job, because it's called after unregister_netdev(). This results in kfree-ing queues that are still linked in napi, which ultimately crashes: BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000000 #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode #PF: error_code(0x0000) - not-present page PGD 0 P4D 0 Oops: 0000 [#1] PREEMPT SMP PTI CPU: 1 PID: 52 Comm: xenwatch Tainted: G W 5.16.10-1.32.fc32.qubes.x86_64+ #226 RIP: 0010:free_netdev+0xa3/0x1a0 Code: ff 48 89 df e8 2e e9 00 00 48 8b 43 50 48 8b 08 48 8d b8 a0 fe ff ff 48 8d a9 a0 fe ff ff 49 39 c4 75 26 eb 47 e8 ed c1 66 ff <48> 8b 85 60 01 00 00 48 8d 95 60 01 00 00 48 89 ef 48 2d 60 01 00 RSP: 0000:ffffc90000bcfd00 EFLAGS: 00010286 RAX: 0000000000000000 RBX: ffff88800edad000 RCX: 0000000000000000 RDX: 0000000000000001 RSI: ffffc90000bcfc30 RDI: 00000000ffffffff RBP: fffffffffffffea0 R08: 0000000000000000 R09: 0000000000000000 R10: 0000000000000000 R11: 0000000000000001 R12: ffff88800edad050 R13: ffff8880065f8f88 R14: 0000000000000000 R15: ffff8880066c6680 FS: 0000000000000000(0000) GS:ffff8880f3300000(0000) knlGS:0000000000000000 CS: 0010 DS: 0000 ES: 0000 CR0: 0000000080050033 CR2: 0000000000000000 CR3: 00000000e998c006 CR4: 00000000003706e0 Call Trace: <TASK> xennet_remove+0x13d/0x300 [xen_netfront] xenbus_dev_remove+0x6d/0xf0 __device_release_driver+0x17a/0x240 device_release_driver+0x24/0x30 bus_remove_device+0xd8/0x140 device_del+0x18b/0x410 ? _raw_spin_unlock+0x16/0x30 ? klist_iter_exit+0x14/0x20 ? xenbus_dev_request_and_reply+0x80/0x80 device_unregister+0x13/0x60 xenbus_dev_changed+0x18e/0x1f0 xenwatch_thread+0xc0/0x1a0 ? do_wait_intr_irq+0xa0/0xa0 kthread+0x16b/0x190 ? set_kthread_struct+0x40/0x40 ret_from_fork+0x22/0x30 </TASK> Fix this by calling xennet_destroy_queues() from xennet_uninit(), when real_num_tx_queues is still available. perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix crash with stop filters in single-range mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/x86/intel/pt: Fix crash with stop filters in single-range mode Add a check for !buf->single before calling pt_buffer_region_size in a place where a missing check can cause a kernel crash. Fixes a bug introduced by commit 670638477aed ("perf/x86/intel/pt: Opportunistically use single range output mode"), which added a support for PT single-range output mode. Since that commit if a PT stop filter range is hit while tracing, the kernel will crash because of a null pointer dereference in pt_handle_status due to calling pt_buffer_region_size without a ToPA configured. The commit which introduced single-range mode guarded almost all uses of the ToPA buffer variables with checks of the buf->single variable, but missed the case where tracing was stopped by the PT hardware, which happens when execution hits a configured stop filter. Tested that hitting a stop filter while PT recording successfully records a trace with this patch but crashes without this patch.

net: sfc: add missing xdp queue reinitialization

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sfc: add missing xdp queue reinitialization After rx/tx ring buffer size is changed, kernel panic occurs when it acts XDP_TX or XDP_REDIRECT. When tx/rx ring buffer size is changed(ethtool -G), sfc driver reallocates and reinitializes rx and tx queues and their buffer (tx_queue->buffer). But it misses reinitializing xdp queues(efx->xdp_tx_queues). So, while it is acting XDP_TX or XDP_REDIRECT, it uses the uninitialized tx_queue->buffer. A new function efx_set_xdp_channels() is separated from efx_set_channels() to handle only xdp queues. cxl/region: Fix null pointer dereference for resetting decoder

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: cxl/region: Fix null pointer dereference for resetting decoder Not all decoders have a reset callback. The CXL specification allows a host bridge with a single root port to have no explicit HDM decoders. Currently the region driver assumes there are none. As such the CXL core creates a special pass through decoder instance without a commit/reset callback. Prior to this patch, the ->reset() callback was called unconditionally when calling cxl_region_decode_reset. Thus a configuration with 1 Host Bridge, 1 Root Port, and one directly attached CXL type 3 device or multiple CXL type 3 devices attached to downstream ports of a switch can cause a null pointer dereference. Before the fix, a kernel crash was observed when we destroy the region, and a pass through decoder is reset. The issue can be reproduced as below, 1) create a region with a CXL setup which includes a HB with a single root port under which a memdev is attached directly. 2) destroy the region with cxl destroy-region regionX -f.

net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-link

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ethernet: stmmac: fix altr_tse_pcs function when using a fixed-link When using a fixed-link, the altr_tse_pcs driver crashes due to null-pointer dereference as no phy_device is provided to tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function. Fix this by adding a check for phy_dev before calling the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed() function. Also clean up the tse_pcs_fix_mac_speed function a bit. There is no need to check for splitter_base and sgmii_adapter_base because the driver will fail if these 2 variables are not derived from the device tree.

net: Fix null-ptr-deref by sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and rmmod.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: Fix null-ptr-deref by sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and rmmod. When I ran the repro [0] and waited a few seconds, I observed two LOCKDEP splats: a warning immediately followed by a null-ptr-deref. [1] Reproduction Steps: 1) Mount CIFS 2) Add an iptables rule to drop incoming FIN packets for CIFS 3) Unmount CIFS 4) Unload the CIFS module 5) Remove the iptables rule At step 3), the CIFS module calls sock_release() for the underlying TCP socket, and it returns quickly. However, the socket remains in FIN_WAIT_1 because incoming FIN packets are dropped. At this point, the module's refcnt is 0 while the socket is still alive, so the following rmmod command succeeds. # ss -tan State Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address:Port Peer Address:Port FIN-WAIT-1 0 477 10.0.2.15:51062 10.0.0.137:445 # lsmod | grep cifs cifs 1159168 0 This highlights a discrepancy between the lifetime of the CIFS module and the underlying TCP socket. Even after CIFS calls sock_release() and it returns, the TCP socket does not die immediately in order to close the connection gracefully. While this is generally fine, it causes an issue with LOCKDEP because CIFS assigns a different lock class to the TCP socket's sk->sk_lock using sock_lock_init_class_and_name(). Once an incoming packet is processed for the socket or a timer fires, sk->sk_lock is acquired. Then, LOCKDEP checks the lock context in check_wait_context(), where hlock_class() is called to retrieve the lock class. However, since the module has already been unloaded, hlock_class() logs a warning and returns NULL, triggering the null-ptr-deref. If LOCKDEP is enabled, we must ensure that a module calling sock_lock_init_class_and_name() (CIFS, NFS, etc) cannot be unloaded while such a socket is still alive to prevent this issue. Let's hold the module reference in sock_lock_init_class_and_name() and release it when the socket is freed in sk_prot_free(). Note that sock_lock_init() clears sk->sk_owner for svc_create_socket() that calls sock_lock_init_class_and_name() for a listening socket, which clones a socket by sk_clone_lock() without GFP_ZERO. According to the debug log, the same req received two SYN-ACK in a very short time, very likely because the client retransmits the syn ack due to multiple reasons. Even if the packets are transmitted with a relevant time interval, they can be processed by the server on different CPUs concurrently). The 'subflow_req->msk' ownership is transferred to the subflow the first, and there will be a risk of a null pointer dereference here. This patch fixes this issue by moving the 'subflow_req->msk' under the `own_req == true` conditional. Note that the !msk check in subflow_hmac_valid() can be dropped, because the same check already exists under the own_req mpj branch where the code has been moved to.

i3c: Add NULL pointer check in i3c_master_queue_ibi()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: i3c: Add NULL pointer check in i3c_master_queue_ibi() The I3C master driver may receive an IBI from a target device that has not been probed yet. In such cases, the master calls `i3c_master_queue_ibi()` to queue an IBI work task, leading to "Unable to handle kernel read from unreadable memory" and resulting in a kernel panic. Typical IBI handling flow: 1. The I3C master scans target devices and probes their respective drivers. 2. The target device driver calls `i3c_device_request_ibi()` to enable IBI and assigns `dev->ibi = ibi`. 3. The I3C master receives an IBI from the target device and calls `i3c_master_queue_ibi()` to queue the target device driver’s IBI handler task. However, since target device events are asynchronous to the I3C probe sequence, step 3 may occur before step 2, causing `dev->ibi` to be `NULL`, leading to a kernel panic. Add a NULL pointer check in `i3c_master_queue_ibi()` to prevent accessing an uninitialized `dev->ibi`, ensuring stability.

drm/amd/display: Add NULL check for clk_mgr in dcn32_init_hw

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: Add NULL check for clk_mgr in dcn32_init_hw This commit addresses a potential null pointer dereference issue in the `dcn32_init_hw` function. The issue could occur when `dc->clk_mgr` is null. The fix adds a check to ensure `dc->clk_mgr` is not null before accessing its functions. This prevents a potential null pointer dereference. Reported by smatch: drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/hwss/dcn32/dcn32_hwseq.c:961 dcn32_init_hw() error: we previously assumed 'dc->clk_mgr' could be null (see line 782)

neighbour: Fix null-ptr-deref in neigh_flush_dev().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: neighbour: Fix null-ptr-deref in neigh_flush_dev(). kernel test robot reported null-ptr-deref in neigh_flush_dev(). [0] The cited commit introduced per-netdev neighbour list and converted neigh_flush_dev() to use it instead of the global hash table. One thing we missed is that neigh_table_clear() calls neigh_ifdown() with NULL dev. Let's restore the hash table iteration. Note that IPv6 module is no longer unloadable, so neigh_table_clear() is called only when IPv6 fails to initialise, which is unlikely to happen. xdp: use flags field to disambiguate broadcast redirect

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xdp: use flags field to disambiguate broadcast redirect When redirecting a packet using XDP, the bpf_redirect_map() helper will set up the redirect destination information in struct bpf_redirect_info (using the __bpf_xdp_redirect_map() helper function), and the xdp_do_redirect() function will read this information after the XDP program returns and pass the frame on to the right redirect destination. When using the BPF_F_BROADCAST flag to do multicast redirect to a whole map, __bpf_xdp_redirect_map() sets the 'map' pointer in struct bpf_redirect_info to point to the destination map to be broadcast. And xdp_do_redirect() reacts to the value of this map pointer to decide whether it's dealing with a broadcast or a single-value redirect. However, if the destination map is being destroyed before xdp_do_redirect() is called, the map pointer will be cleared out (by bpf_clear_redirect_map()) without waiting for any XDP programs to stop running. This causes xdp_do_redirect() to think that the redirect was to a single target, but the target pointer is also NULL (since broadcast redirects don't have a single target), so this causes a crash when a NULL pointer is passed to dev_map_enqueue(). To fix this, change xdp_do_redirect() to react directly to the presence of the BPF_F_BROADCAST flag in the 'flags' value in struct bpf_redirect_info to disambiguate between a single-target and a broadcast redirect. And only read the 'map' pointer if the broadcast flag is set, aborting if that has been cleared out in the meantime. This prevents the crash, while keeping the atomic (cmpxchg-based) clearing of the map pointer itself, and without adding any more checks in the non-broadcast fast path.

ice: fix vsi->txq_map sizing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ice: fix vsi->txq_map sizing The approach of having XDP queue per CPU regardless of user's setting exposed a hidden bug that could occur in case when Rx queue count differ from Tx queue count. Currently vsi->txq_map's size is equal to the doubled vsi->alloc_txq, which is not correct due to the fact that XDP rings were previously based on the Rx queue count. fbdev: imxfb: Check fb_add_videomode to prevent null-ptr-deref

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev: imxfb: Check fb_add_videomode to prevent null-ptr-deref fb_add_videomode() can fail with -ENOMEM when its internal kmalloc() cannot allocate a struct fb_modelist. If that happens, the modelist stays empty but the driver continues to register. Add a check for its return value to prevent poteintial null-ptr-deref, which is similar to the commit 17186f1f90d3 ("fbdev: Fix do_register_framebuffer to prevent null-ptr-deref in fb_videomode_to_var").

iommu/riscv: prevent NULL deref in iova_to_phys

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/riscv: prevent NULL deref in iova_to_phys The riscv_iommu_pte_fetch() function returns either NULL for unmapped/never-mapped iova, or a valid leaf pte pointer that requires no further validation. riscv_iommu_iova_to_phys() failed to handle NULL returns. Prevent null pointer dereference in riscv_iommu_iova_to_phys(), and remove the pte validation.

ASoC: core: Check for rtd == NULL in snd_soc_remove_pcm_runtime()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: core: Check for rtd == NULL in snd_soc_remove_pcm_runtime() snd_soc_remove_pcm_runtime() might be called with rtd == NULL which will leads to null pointer dereference. This was reproduced with topology loading and marking a link as ignore due to missing hardware component on the system. On module removal the soc_tplg_remove_link() would call snd_soc_remove_pcm_runtime() with rtd == NULL since the link was ignored, no runtime was created.

soc: samsung: exynos-chipid: Add NULL pointer check in exynos_chipid_probe()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: samsung: exynos-chipid: Add NULL pointer check in exynos_chipid_probe() soc_dev_attr->revision could be NULL, thus, a pointer check is added to prevent potential NULL pointer dereference. This is similar to the fix in commit 3027e7b15b02 ("ice: Fix some null pointer dereference issues in ice_ptp.c"). This issue is found by our static analysis tool.

drm: bridge: anx7625: Fix NULL pointer dereference with early IRQ

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm: bridge: anx7625: Fix NULL pointer dereference with early IRQ If the interrupt occurs before resource initialization is complete, the interrupt handler/worker may access uninitialized data such as the I2C tcpc_client device, potentially leading to NULL pointer dereference.
