In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix reservation leak in some error paths when inserting inline extent If we fail to allocate a path or join a transaction, we return from __cow_file_range_inline() without freeing the reserved qgroup data, resulting in a leak. Fix this by ensuring we call btrfs_qgroup_free_data() in such cases.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: idxd: fix memory leak in error handling path of idxd_alloc Memory allocated for idxd is not freed if an error occurs during idxd_alloc(). In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf trace: Really free the evsel->priv area In 3cb4d5e00e037c70 ("perf trace: Free syscall tp fields in evsel->priv") it only was freeing if strcmp(evsel->tp_format->system, "syscalls") returned zero, while the corresponding initialization of evsel->priv was being performed if it was _not_ zero, i.e. if the tp system wasn't 'syscalls'. Just stop looking for that and free it if evsel->priv was set, which should be equivalent. Also use the pre-existing evsel_trace__delete() function. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: time/debug: Fix memory leak with using debugfs_lookup() When calling debugfs_lookup() the result must have dput() called on it, otherwise the memory will leak over time. To make things simpler, just call debugfs_lookup_and_remove() instead which handles all of the logic at once.

containerd CRI server: Host memory exhaustion through Attach goroutine leak

containerd is an open-source container runtime. Versions 1.7.28 and below, 2.0.0-beta.0 through 2.0.6, 2.1.0-beta.0 through 2.1.4, and 2.2.0-beta.0 through 2.2.0-rc.1 contain a bug in the CRI Attach implementation where a user can exhaust memory on the host due to goroutine leaks. This issue is fixed in versions 1.7.29, 2.0.7, 2.1.5 and 2.2.0. To workaround this vulnerability, users can set up an admission controller to control accesses to pods/attach resources.

ubifs: Fix memory leak in do_rename

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ubifs: Fix memory leak in do_rename If renaming a file in an encrypted directory, function fscrypt_setup_filename allocates memory for a file name. This name is never used, and before returning to the caller the memory for it is not freed. When running kmemleak on it we see that it is registered as a leak. The report below is triggered by a simple program 'rename' that renames a file in an encrypted directory: unreferenced object 0xffff888101502840 (size 32): comm "rename", pid 9404, jiffies 4302582475 (age 435.735s) backtrace: __kmem_cache_alloc_node __kmalloc fscrypt_setup_filename do_rename ubifs_rename vfs_rename do_renameat2 To fix this we can remove the call to fscrypt_setup_filename as it's not needed.

md/raid1: fix memory leak in raid1_run()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: md/raid1: fix memory leak in raid1_run() raid1_run() calls setup_conf() which registers a thread via md_register_thread(). If raid1_set_limits() fails, the previously registered thread is not unregistered, resulting in a memory leak of the md_thread structure and the thread resource itself. Add md_unregister_thread() to the error path to properly cleanup the thread, which aligns with the error handling logic of other paths in this function. Compile tested only. Issue found using a prototype static analysis tool and code review.

usb: dwc2: fix a devres leak in hw_enable upon suspend resume

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc2: fix a devres leak in hw_enable upon suspend resume Each time the platform goes to low power, PM suspend / resume routines call: __dwc2_lowlevel_hw_enable -> devm_add_action_or_reset(). This adds a new devres each time. This may also happen at runtime, as dwc2_lowlevel_hw_enable() can be called from udc_start(). This can be seen with tracing: - echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/dev/devres_log/enable - go to low power - cat /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace A new "ADD" entry is found upon each low power cycle: ... devres_log: 49000000.usb-otg ADD 82a13bba devm_action_release (8 bytes) ... devres_log: 49000000.usb-otg ADD 49889daf devm_action_release (8 bytes) ... A second issue is addressed here: - regulator_bulk_enable() is called upon each PM cycle (suspend/resume). - regulator_bulk_disable() never gets called. So the reference count for these regulators constantly increase, by one upon each low power cycle, due to missing regulator_bulk_disable() call in __dwc2_lowlevel_hw_disable(). The original fix that introduced the devm_add_action_or_reset() call, fixed an issue during probe, that happens due to other errors in dwc2_driver_probe() -> dwc2_core_reset(). Then the probe fails without disabling regulators, when dr_mode == USB_DR_MODE_PERIPHERAL. Rather fix the error path: disable all the low level hardware in the error path, by using the "hsotg->ll_hw_enabled" flag. Checking dr_mode has been introduced to avoid a dual call to dwc2_lowlevel_hw_disable(). "ll_hw_enabled" should achieve the same (and is used currently in the remove() routine).

This will ensure that the vdesc is present in the desc_terminated list The descriptor will be freed later in desc_free_list(). This fixes the memory leaks which can happen when terminating an ongoing transfer.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/damon/core: fix new damon_target objects leaks on damon_commit_targets() Patch series "mm/damon/core: fix memory leaks and ignored inputs from damon_commit_ctx()". Due to two bugs in damon_commit_targets() and damon_commit_schemes(), which are called from damon_commit_ctx(), some user inputs can be ignored, and some mmeory objects can be leaked. Fix those. Note that only DAMON sysfs interface users are affected. Other DAMON core API user modules that more focused more on simple and dedicated production usages, including DAMON_RECLAIM and DAMON_LRU_SORT are not using the buggy function in the way, so not affected. This patch (of 2): When new DAMON targets are added via damon_commit_targets(), the newly created targets are not deallocated when updating the internal data (damon_commit_target()) is failed. Worse yet, even if the setup is successfully done, the new target is not linked to the context. Hence, the new targets are always leaked regardless of the internal data setup failure. Fix the leaks.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvmet: fix memory leak of bio integrity If nvmet receives commands with metadata there is a continuous memory leak of kmalloc-128 slab or more precisely bio->bi_integrity. Since commit bf4c89fc8797 ("block: don't call bio_uninit from bio_endio") each user of bio_init has to use bio_uninit as well. Otherwise the bio integrity is not getting free. Nvmet uses bio_init for inline bios. Uninit the inline bio to complete deallocation of integrity in bio.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: ngbe: fix memory leak in ngbe_probe() error path When ngbe_sw_init() is called, memory is allocated for wx->rss_key in wx_init_rss_key(). However, in ngbe_probe() function, the subsequent error paths after ngbe_sw_init() don't free the rss_key. Fix that by freeing it in error path along with wx->mac_table. Also change the label to which execution jumps when ngbe_sw_init() fails, because otherwise, it could lead to a double free for rss_key, when the mac_table allocation fails in wx_sw_init().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware_loader: Fix memory leak in firmware upload In the case of firmware-upload, an instance of struct fw_upload is allocated in firmware_upload_register(). This data needs to be freed in fw_dev_release(). Create a new fw_upload_free() function in sysfs_upload.c to handle the firmware-upload specific memory frees and incorporate the missing kfree call for the fw_upload structure.

If the key_size is 4, that means pptr is stored in a location which is 4 byte aligned but not 8 byte aligned. In mm/kmemleak.c, scan_block() scans the memory based on 8 byte stride, so it won't detect above pptr, hence reporting the memory leak. In htab_map_alloc(), we already have htab->elem_size = sizeof(struct htab_elem) + round_up(htab->map.key_size, 8); if (percpu) htab->elem_size += sizeof(void *); else htab->elem_size += round_up(htab->map.value_size, 8); So storing pptr with 8-byte alignment won't cause any problem and can fix kmemleak too. The issue can be reproduced with bpf selftest as well: 1. Enable CONFIG_DEBUG_KMEMLEAK config 2. Add a getchar() before skel destroy in test_hash_map() in prog_tests/for_each.c. The purpose is to keep map available so kmemleak can be detected. 3. run './test_progs -t for_each/hash_map &' and a kmemleak should be reported.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fbdev: sh7760fb: Fix a possible memory leak in sh7760fb_alloc_mem() When information such as info->screen_base is not ready, calling sh7760fb_free_mem() does not release memory correctly. Call dma_free_coherent() instead.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: vfio/mlx5: Fix an unwind issue in mlx5vf_add_migration_pages() Fix an unwind issue in mlx5vf_add_migration_pages(). If a set of pages is allocated but fails to be added to the SG table, they need to be freed to prevent a memory leak. Any pages successfully added to the SG table will be freed as part of mlx5vf_free_data_buffer().
