scsi: mpi3mr: Synchronous access b/w reset and tm thread for reply queue

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: mpi3mr: Synchronous access b/w reset and tm thread for reply queue When the task management thread processes reply queues while the reset thread resets them, the task management thread accesses an invalid queue ID (0xFFFF), set by the reset thread, which points to unallocated memory, causing a crash. Add flag 'io_admin_reset_sync' to synchronize access between the reset, I/O, and admin threads. Before a reset, the reset handler sets this flag to block I/O and admin processing threads. If any thread bypasses the initial check, the reset thread waits up to 10 seconds for processing to finish. If the wait exceeds 10 seconds, the controller is marked as unrecoverable.

fs: export anon_inode_make_secure_inode() and fix secretmem LSM bypass

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: fs: export anon_inode_make_secure_inode() and fix secretmem LSM bypass Export anon_inode_make_secure_inode() to allow KVM guest_memfd to create anonymous inodes with proper security context. This replaces the current pattern of calling alloc_anon_inode() followed by inode_init_security_anon() for creating security context manually. This change also fixes a security regression in secretmem where the S_PRIVATE flag was not cleared after alloc_anon_inode(), causing LSM/SELinux checks to be bypassed for secretmem file descriptors. As guest_memfd currently resides in the KVM module, we need to export this symbol for use outside the core kernel. In the future, guest_memfd might be moved to core-mm, at which point the symbols no longer would have to be exported. When/if that happens is still unclear.

net: lan743x: fix potential out-of-bounds write in lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: lan743x: fix potential out-of-bounds write in lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() Before calling lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(), the 'channel' value is checked against the maximum value of PCI11X1X_PTP_IO_MAX_CHANNELS(8). This seems correct and aligns with the PTP interrupt status register (PTP_INT_STS) specifications. However, lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get() writes to ptp->extts[] with only LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS(4) elements, using channel as an index: lan743x_ptp_io_event_clock_get(..., u8 channel,...) { ... /* Update Local timestamp */ extts = &ptp->extts[channel]; extts->ts.tv_sec = sec; ... } To avoid an out-of-bounds write and utilize all the supported GPIO inputs, set LAN743X_PTP_N_EXTTS to 8. Detected using the static analysis tool - Svace.

phy: tegra: xusb: Fix unbalanced regulator disable in UTMI PHY mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: phy: tegra: xusb: Fix unbalanced regulator disable in UTMI PHY mode When transitioning from USB_ROLE_DEVICE to USB_ROLE_NONE, the code assumed that the regulator should be disabled. However, if the regulator is marked as always-on, regulator_is_enabled() continues to return true, leading to an incorrect attempt to disable a regulator which is not enabled. This can result in warnings such as: [ 250.155624] WARNING: CPU: 1 PID: 7326 at drivers/regulator/core.c:3004 _regulator_disable+0xe4/0x1a0 [ 250.155652] unbalanced disables for VIN_SYS_5V0 To fix this, we move the regulator control logic into tegra186_xusb_padctl_id_override() function since it's directly related to the ID override state. The regulator is now only disabled when the role transitions from USB_ROLE_HOST to USB_ROLE_NONE, by checking the VBUS_ID register. This ensures that regulator enable/disable operations are properly balanced and only occur when actually transitioning to/from host mode.

iommu/vt-d: Restore context entry setup order for aliased devices

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu/vt-d: Restore context entry setup order for aliased devices Commit 2031c469f816 ("iommu/vt-d: Add support for static identity domain") changed the context entry setup during domain attachment from a set-and-check policy to a clear-and-reset approach. Specifically, keyboard and touchpad stopped working on several Apple Macbooks with below messages: kernel: platform pxa2xx-spi.3: Adding to iommu group 20 kernel: input: Apple SPI Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1e.3/pxa2xx-spi.3/spi_master/spi2/spi-APP000D:00/input/input0 kernel: DMAR: DRHD: handling fault status reg 3 kernel: DMAR: [DMA Read NO_PASID] Request device [00:1e.3] fault addr 0xffffa000 [fault reason 0x06] PTE Read access is not set kernel: DMAR: DRHD: handling fault status reg 3 kernel: DMAR: [DMA Read NO_PASID] Request device [00:1e.3] fault addr 0xffffa000 [fault reason 0x06] PTE Read access is not set kernel: applespi spi-APP000D:00: Error writing to device: 01 0e 00 00 kernel: DMAR: DRHD: handling fault status reg 3 kernel: DMAR: [DMA Read NO_PASID] Request device [00:1e.3] fault addr 0xffffa000 [fault reason 0x06] PTE Read access is not set kernel: DMAR: DRHD: handling fault status reg 3 kernel: applespi spi-APP000D:00: Error writing to device: 01 0e 00 00 Fix this by restoring the previous context setup order.

NFC: nci: uart: Set tty->disc_data only in success path

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFC: nci: uart: Set tty->disc_data only in success path Setting tty->disc_data before opening the NCI device means we need to clean it up on error paths. This also opens some short window if device starts sending data, even before NCIUARTSETDRIVER IOCTL succeeded (broken hardware?). Close the window by exposing tty->disc_data only on the success path, when opening of the NCI device and try_module_get() succeeds. The code differs in error path in one aspect: tty->disc_data won't be ever assigned thus NULL-ified. This however should not be relevant difference, because of "tty->disc_data=NULL" in nci_uart_tty_open().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: s390/pci: Fix duplicate pci_dev_put() in disable_slot() when PF has child VFs With commit bcb5d6c76903 ("s390/pci: introduce lock to synchronize state of zpci_dev's") the code to ignore power off of a PF that has child VFs was changed from a direct return to a goto to the unlock and pci_dev_put() section. The change however left the existing pci_dev_put() untouched resulting in a doubple put. This can subsequently cause a use after free if the struct pci_dev is released in an unexpected state. Fix this by removing the extra pci_dev_put().

ALSA: ump: Fix buffer overflow at UMP SysEx message conversion

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ALSA: ump: Fix buffer overflow at UMP SysEx message conversion The conversion function from MIDI 1.0 to UMP packet contains an internal buffer to keep the incoming MIDI bytes, and its size is 4, as it was supposed to be the max size for a MIDI1 UMP packet data. However, the implementation overlooked that SysEx is handled in a different format, and it can be up to 6 bytes, as found in do_convert_to_ump(). It leads eventually to a buffer overflow, and may corrupt the memory when a longer SysEx message is received. The fix is simply to extend the buffer size to 6 to fit with the SysEx UMP message.

dmaengine: idxd: Check availability of workqueue allocated by idxd wq driver before using

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: idxd: Check availability of workqueue allocated by idxd wq driver before using Running IDXD workloads in a container with the /dev directory mounted can trigger a call trace or even a kernel panic when the parent process of the container is terminated. This issue occurs because, under certain configurations, Docker does not properly propagate the mount replica back to the original mount point. In this case, when the user driver detaches, the WQ is destroyed but it still calls destroy_workqueue() attempting to completes all pending work. It's necessary to check wq->wq and skip the drain if it no longer exists.

wifi: ath12k: fix uaf in ath12k_core_init()

usb: xhci: Fix isochronous Ring Underrun/Overrun event handling

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: xhci: Fix isochronous Ring Underrun/Overrun event handling The TRB pointer of these events points at enqueue at the time of error occurrence on xHCI 1.1+ HCs or it's NULL on older ones. By the time we are handling the event, a new TD may be queued at this ring position. I can trigger this race by rising interrupt moderation to increase IRQ handling delay. Similar delay may occur naturally due to system load. If this ever happens after a Missed Service Error, missed TDs will be skipped and the new TD processed as if it matched the event. It could be given back prematurely, risking data loss or buffer UAF by the xHC. Don't complete TDs on xrun events and don't warn if queued TDs don't match the event's TRB pointer, which can be NULL or a link/no-op TRB. Don't warn if there are no queued TDs at all. Now that it's safe, also handle xrun events if the skip flag is clear. This ensures completion of any TD stuck in 'error mid TD' state right before the xrun event, which could happen if a driver submits a finite number of URBs to a buggy HC and then an error occurs on the last TD.

padata: Fix pd UAF once and for all

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: padata: Fix pd UAF once and for all There is a race condition/UAF in padata_reorder that goes back to the initial commit. A reference count is taken at the start of the process in padata_do_parallel, and released at the end in padata_serial_worker. This reference count is (and only is) required for padata_replace to function correctly. If padata_replace is never called then there is no issue. In the function padata_reorder which serves as the core of padata, as soon as padata is added to queue->serial.list, and the associated spin lock released, that padata may be processed and the reference count on pd would go away. Fix this by getting the next padata before the squeue->serial lock is released. In order to make this possible, simplify padata_reorder by only calling it once the next padata arrives.

f2fs: compress: fix UAF of f2fs_inode_info in f2fs_free_dic

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: f2fs: compress: fix UAF of f2fs_inode_info in f2fs_free_dic The decompress_io_ctx may be released asynchronously after I/O completion. If this file is deleted immediately after read, and the kworker of processing post_read_wq has not been executed yet due to high workloads, It is possible that the inode(f2fs_inode_info) is evicted and freed before it is used f2fs_free_dic. The UAF case as below: Thread A Thread B - f2fs_decompress_end_io - f2fs_put_dic - queue_work add free_dic work to post_read_wq - do_unlink - iput - evict - call_rcu This file is deleted after read. Thread C kworker to process post_read_wq - rcu_do_batch - f2fs_free_inode - kmem_cache_free inode is freed by rcu - process_scheduled_works - f2fs_late_free_dic - f2fs_free_dic - f2fs_release_decomp_mem read (dic->inode)->i_compress_algorithm This patch store compress_algorithm and sbi in dic to avoid inode UAF. perf/core: Prevent VMA split of buffer mappings

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: perf/core: Prevent VMA split of buffer mappings The perf mmap code is careful about mmap()'ing the user page with the ringbuffer and additionally the auxiliary buffer, when the event supports it. Once the first mapping is established, subsequent mapping have to use the same offset and the same size in both cases. The reference counting for the ringbuffer and the auxiliary buffer depends on this being correct. Though perf does not prevent that a related mapping is split via mmap(2), munmap(2) or mremap(2). A split of a VMA results in perf_mmap_open() calls, which take reference counts, but then the subsequent perf_mmap_close() calls are not longer fulfilling the offset and size checks. This leads to reference count leaks. As perf already has the requirement for subsequent mappings to match the initial mapping, the obvious consequence is that VMA splits, caused by resizing of a mapping or partial unmapping, have to be prevented. Implement the vm_operations_struct::may_split() callback and return unconditionally -EINVAL. That ensures that the mapping offsets and sizes cannot be changed after the fact. Remapping to a different fixed address with the same size is still possible as it takes the references for the new mapping and drops those of the old mapping.

wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid entry fetch in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid entry fetch in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process Currently, ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process uses ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry to fetch the next entry from the destination ring. This is incorrect because ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry is intended for source rings, not destination rings. This leads to invalid entry fetches, causing potential data corruption or crashes due to accessing incorrect memory locations. This happens because the source ring and destination ring have different handling mechanisms and using the wrong function results in incorrect pointer arithmetic and ring management. To fix this issue, replace the call to ath12k_hal_srng_src_get_next_entry with ath12k_hal_srng_dst_get_next_entry in ath12k_dp_mon_srng_process. This ensures that the correct function is used for fetching entries from the destination ring, preventing invalid memory accesses. net_sched: hfsc: Fix a UAF vulnerability in class handling

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net_sched: hfsc: Fix a UAF vulnerability in class handling This patch fixes a Use-After-Free vulnerability in the HFSC qdisc class handling. The issue occurs due to a time-of-check/time-of-use condition in hfsc_change_class() when working with certain child qdiscs like netem or codel. The vulnerability works as follows: 1. hfsc_change_class() checks if a class has packets (q.qlen != 0) 2. It then calls qdisc_peek_len(), which for certain qdiscs (e.g., codel, netem) might drop packets and empty the queue 3. The code continues assuming the queue is still non-empty, adding the class to vttree 4. This breaks HFSC scheduler assumptions that only non-empty classes are in vttree 5. Later, when the class is destroyed, this can lead to a Use-After-Free The fix adds a second queue length check after qdisc_peek_len() to verify the queue wasn't emptied.

atm: Release atm_dev_mutex after removing procfs in atm_dev_deregister().

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: atm: Release atm_dev_mutex after removing procfs in atm_dev_deregister(). syzbot reported a warning below during atm_dev_register(). [0] Before creating a new device and procfs/sysfs for it, atm_dev_register() looks up a duplicated device by __atm_dev_lookup(). These operations are done under atm_dev_mutex. However, when removing a device in atm_dev_deregister(), it releases the mutex just after removing the device from the list that __atm_dev_lookup() iterates over. mcb: fix a double free bug in chameleon_parse_gdd()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mcb: fix a double free bug in chameleon_parse_gdd() In chameleon_parse_gdd(), if mcb_device_register() fails, 'mdev' would be released in mcb_device_register() via put_device(). Thus, goto 'err' label and free 'mdev' again causes a double free. Just return if mcb_device_register() fails.

PCI: endpoint: pci-epf-test: Fix double free that causes kernel to oops

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: PCI: endpoint: pci-epf-test: Fix double free that causes kernel to oops Fix a kernel oops found while testing the stm32_pcie Endpoint driver with handling of PERST# deassertion: During EP initialization, pci_epf_test_alloc_space() allocates all BARs, which are further freed if epc_set_bar() fails (for instance, due to no free inbound window). However, when pci_epc_set_bar() fails, the error path: pci_epc_set_bar() -> pci_epf_free_space() does not clear the previous assignment to epf_test->reg[bar]. Then, if the host reboots, the PERST# deassertion restarts the BAR allocation sequence with the same allocation failure (no free inbound window), creating a double free situation since epf_test->reg[bar] was deallocated and is still non-NULL. Thus, make sure that pci_epf_alloc_space() and pci_epf_free_space() invocations are symmetric, and as such, set epf_test->reg[bar] to NULL when memory is freed. [kwilczynski: commit log]

wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid data access in ath12k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: Fix invalid data access in ath12k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi In certain cases, hardware might provide packets with a length greater than the maximum native Wi-Fi header length. This can lead to accessing and modifying fields in the header within the ath12k_dp_rx_h_undecap_nwifi function for DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type and potentially resulting in invalid data access and memory corruption. Add a sanity check before processing the SKB to prevent invalid data access in the undecap native Wi-Fi function for the DP_RX_DECAP_TYPE_NATIVE_WIFI decap type. Tested-on: QCN9274 hw2.0 PCI WLAN.WBE.1.3.1-00173-QCAHKSWPL_SILICONZ-1

ASoC: qcom: Fix sc7280 lpass potential buffer overflow

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ASoC: qcom: Fix sc7280 lpass potential buffer overflow Case values introduced in commit 5f78e1fb7a3e ("ASoC: qcom: Add driver support for audioreach solution") cause out of bounds access in arrays of sc7280 driver data (e.g. in case of RX_CODEC_DMA_RX_0 in sc7280_snd_hw_params()). Redefine LPASS_MAX_PORTS to consider the maximum possible port id for q6dsp as sc7280 driver utilizes some of those values. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

sch_hfsc: Fix qlen accounting bug when using peek in hfsc_enqueue()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: sch_hfsc: Fix qlen accounting bug when using peek in hfsc_enqueue() When enqueuing the first packet to an HFSC class, hfsc_enqueue() calls the child qdisc's peek() operation before incrementing sch->q.qlen and sch->qstats.backlog. If the child qdisc uses qdisc_peek_dequeued(), this may trigger an immediate dequeue and potential packet drop. In such cases, qdisc_tree_reduce_backlog() is called, but the HFSC qdisc's qlen and backlog have not yet been updated, leading to inconsistent queue accounting. This can leave an empty HFSC class in the active list, causing further consequences like use-after-free. This patch fixes the bug by moving the increment of sch->q.qlen and sch->qstats.backlog before the call to the child qdisc's peek() operation. This ensures that queue length and backlog are always accurate when packet drops or dequeues are triggered during the peek.

ipc: fix to protect IPCS lookups using RCU

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipc: fix to protect IPCS lookups using RCU syzbot reported that it discovered a use-after-free vulnerability, [0] [0]: https://lore.kernel.org/all/67af13f8.050a0220.21dd3.0038.GAE@google.com/ idr_for_each() is protected by rwsem, but this is not enough. If it is not protected by RCU read-critical region, when idr_for_each() calls radix_tree_node_free() through call_rcu() to free the radix_tree_node structure, the node will be freed immediately, and when reading the next node in radix_tree_for_each_slot(), the already freed memory may be read. Therefore, we need to add code to make sure that idr_for_each() is protected within the RCU read-critical region when we call it in shm_destroy_orphaned().

Squashfs: check return result of sb_min_blocksize

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Squashfs: check return result of sb_min_blocksize Syzkaller reports an "UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in squashfs_bio_read" bug. Syzkaller forks multiple processes which after mounting the Squashfs filesystem, issues an ioctl("/dev/loop0", LOOP_SET_BLOCK_SIZE, 0x8000). Now if this ioctl occurs at the same time another process is in the process of mounting a Squashfs filesystem on /dev/loop0, the failure occurs. When this happens the following code in squashfs_fill_super() fails. ---- msblk->devblksize = sb_min_blocksize(sb, SQUASHFS_DEVBLK_SIZE); msblk->devblksize_log2 = ffz(~msblk->devblksize); ---- sb_min_blocksize() returns 0, which means msblk->devblksize is set to 0. As a result, ffz(~msblk->devblksize) returns 64, and msblk->devblksize_log2 is set to 64. This subsequently causes the UBSAN: shift-out-of-bounds in fs/squashfs/block.c:195:36 shift exponent 64 is too large for 64-bit type 'u64' (aka 'unsigned long long') This commit adds a check for a 0 return by sb_min_blocksize().
