Workarounds

Customers with a Threat Prevention subscription can block attacks for this vulnerability by enabling Threat ID 510020 (from Applications and Threats content version 9100-10044 and later). For these Threat IDs to protect against attacks for this vulnerability: * Route incoming traffic for the MGT port through a DP port (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices/10-1/administrative-access-best-practices/administrative-access-best-practices/deploy-administrative-access-best-practices#id59206398-3dab-4b2f-9b4b-7ea500d036ba), e.g., enabling management profile on a DP interface for management access. * Replace the Certificate for Inbound Traffic Management (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices/10-1/administrative-access-best-practices/administrative-access-best-practices/deploy-administrative-access-best-practices#id112f7714-8995-4496-bbf9-781e63dec71c). * Decrypt inbound traffic to the management interface (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices/10-1/administrative-access-best-practices/administrative-access-best-practices/deploy-administrative-access-best-practices#idbbd82587-17a2-42b4-9245-d3714e1e13a2) so the firewall can inspect it (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/best-practices/10-1/administrative-access-best-practices/administrative-access-best-practices/deploy-administrative-access-best-practices#idbbd82587-17a2-42b4-9245-d3714e1e13a2). * Enable threat prevention on the inbound traffic to management services.

HTML injection in in Time Machine functionality in Guardian/CMC before 25.5.0

A Stored HTML Injection vulnerability was discovered in the Time Machine Snapshot Diff functionality due to improper validation of network traffic data. An unauthenticated attacker can send specially crafted network packets at two different times to inject HTML tags into asset attributes across two snapshots. Exploitation requires a victim to use the Time Machine Snapshot Diff feature on those specific snapshots and perform specific GUI actions, at which point the injected HTML renders in their browser, enabling phishing and open redirect attacks. Full XSS exploitation is prevented by input validation and Content Security Policy. Attack complexity is high due to multiple required conditions.

Affected devices do not properly validate and sanitize Technology Object (TO) name rendered on the "Motion Control Diagnostics" page of the web interface. This could allow an authenticated attacker who is authorized to download a TIA project into the product, to inject malicious scripts into the page. If a benign user with appropriate rights accesses the "Motion Control Diagnostics" parameters page, the malicious code would be executed in the scope of their web session.

Affected devices do not properly validate and sanitize filenames on the Firmware Update page. This could allow a remote attacker to social engineer the user into selecting the modified firmware file to be uploaded. This would result in malitcious JavaScript execution in the context of the authenticated user's session without requiring the file to be uploaded, potentially leading to session hijacking or credential theft.

Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) in Reports in Guardian/CMC before 25.5.0

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability was discovered in the Reports functionality due to improper validation of an input parameter. An authenticated user with report privileges can define a malicious report containing a JavaScript payload, or a victim can be socially engineered to import a malicious report template. When the victim views or imports the report, the XSS executes in their browser context, allowing the attacker to perform unauthorized actions as the victim, such as modify application data, disrupt application availability, and access limited sensitive information.

HTML injection in Schedule Restore Archive in Guardian/CMC before 26.1.0

A Stored HTML Injection vulnerability was discovered in the Schedule Restore Archive functionality due to improper validation of an input parameter. An authenticated user with administrative privileges can define a malicious restore schedule containing HTML tags. When a victim views the affected schedule, the injected HTML renders in their browser, enabling phishing and possibly open redirect attacks. Full XSS exploitation and direct information disclosure are prevented by the existing input validation and Content Security Policy configuration.

Angular Stored XSS Vulnerability via SVG Animation, SVG URL and MathML Attributes

Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to 21.0.2, 20.3.15, and 19.2.17, A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in the Angular Template Compiler. It occurs because the compiler's internal security schema is incomplete, allowing attackers to bypass Angular's built-in security sanitization. Specifically, the schema fails to classify certain URL-holding attributes (e.g., those that could contain javascript: URLs) as requiring strict URL security, enabling the injection of malicious scripts. This vulnerability is fixed in 21.0.2, 20.3.15, and 19.2.17.

Affected devices do not properly validate and sanitize PLC/station name rendered on the "communication" parameters page of the web interface. This could allow an authenticated attacker who is authorized to download a TIA project into the product, to inject malicious scripts into the page. If a benign user with appropriate rights accesses the "communication" parameters page, the malicious code would be executed in the scope of their web session.

Angular has XSS Vulnerability via Unsanitized SVG Script Attributes

Angular is a development platform for building mobile and desktop web applications using TypeScript/JavaScript and other languages. Prior to versions 19.2.18, 20.3.16, 21.0.7, and 21.1.0-rc.0, a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in the Angular Template Compiler. The vulnerability exists because Angular’s internal sanitization schema fails to recognize the href and xlink:href attributes of SVG <script> elements as a Resource URL context. This issue has been patched in versions 19.2.18, 20.3.16, 21.0.7, and 21.1.0-rc.0.

PAN-OS: Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) Vulnerability in GlobalProtect Gateway and Portal

A reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the GlobalProtect™ gateway and portal features of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS® software enables execution of malicious JavaScript in the context of an authenticated Captive Portal user's browser when they click on a specially crafted link. The primary risk is phishing attacks that can lead to credential theft—particularly if you enabled Clientless VPN. There is no availability impact to GlobalProtect features or GlobalProtect users. Attackers cannot use this vulnerability to tamper with or modify contents or configurations of the GlobalProtect portal or gateways. The integrity impact of this vulnerability is limited to enabling an attacker to create phishing and credential-stealing links that appear to be hosted on the GlobalProtect portal. For GlobalProtect users with Clientless VPN enabled, there is a limited impact on confidentiality due to inherent risks of Clientless VPN that facilitate credential theft. You can read more about this risk in the informational bulletin PAN-SA-2025-0005 https://security.paloaltonetworks.com/PAN-SA-2025-0005 https://security.paloaltonetworks.com/PAN-SA-2025-0005 . There is no impact to confidentiality for GlobalProtect users if you did not enable (or you disable) Clientless VPN.
