hwmon: (pmbus/q54sj108a2) fix stack overflow in debugfs read

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: hwmon: (pmbus/q54sj108a2) fix stack overflow in debugfs read The q54sj108a2_debugfs_read function suffers from a stack buffer overflow due to incorrect arguments passed to bin2hex(). The function currently passes 'data' as the destination and 'data_char' as the source. Because bin2hex() converts each input byte into two hex characters, a 32-byte block read results in 64 bytes of output. Since 'data' is only 34 bytes (I2C_SMBUS_BLOCK_MAX + 2), this writes 30 bytes past the end of the buffer onto the stack. Additionally, the arguments were swapped: it was reading from the zero-initialized 'data_char' and writing to 'data', resulting in all-zero output regardless of the actual I2C read. Fix this by: 1. Expanding 'data_char' to 66 bytes to safely hold the hex output. 2. Correcting the bin2hex() argument order and using the actual read count. 3. Using a pointer to select the correct output buffer for the final simple_read_from_buffer call.

net/mdiobus: Fix potential out-of-bounds read/write access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/mdiobus: Fix potential out-of-bounds read/write access When using publicly available tools like 'mdio-tools' to read/write data from/to network interface and its PHY via mdiobus, there is no verification of parameters passed to the ioctl and it accepts any mdio address. Currently there is support for 32 addresses in kernel via PHY_MAX_ADDR define, but it is possible to pass higher value than that via ioctl. While read/write operation should generally fail in this case, mdiobus provides stats array, where wrong address may allow out-of-bounds read/write. Fix that by adding address verification before read/write operation. While this excludes this access from any statistics, it improves security of read/write operation.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ipmr: do not call mr_mfc_uses_dev() for unres entries syzbot found that calling mr_mfc_uses_dev() for unres entries would crash [1], because c->mfc_un.res.minvif / c->mfc_un.res.maxvif alias to "struct sk_buff_head unresolved", which contain two pointers. HID: hid-thrustmaster: fix stack-out-of-bounds read in usb_check_int_endpoints()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: HID: hid-thrustmaster: fix stack-out-of-bounds read in usb_check_int_endpoints() Syzbot[1] has detected a stack-out-of-bounds read of the ep_addr array from hid-thrustmaster driver. This array is passed to usb_check_int_endpoints function from usb.c core driver, which executes a for loop that iterates over the elements of the passed array. Not finding a null element at the end of the array, it tries to read the next, non-existent element, crashing the kernel. To fix this, a 0 element was added at the end of the array to break the for loop. [1] https://syzkaller.appspot.com/bug?extid=9c9179ac46169c56c1ad

net/mlx5e: add missing cpu_to_node to kvzalloc_node in mlx5e_open_xdpredirect_sq

usbnet: ipheth: fix possible overflow in DPE length check

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usbnet: ipheth: fix possible overflow in DPE length check Originally, it was possible for the DPE length check to overflow if wDatagramIndex + wDatagramLength > U16_MAX. This could lead to an OoB read. Move the wDatagramIndex term to the other side of the inequality. An existing condition ensures that wDatagramIndex < urb->actual_length.

Linux kernel bpf verifier vulnerability

In the Linux kernel 5.5.0 and newer, the bpf verifier (kernel/bpf/verifier.c) did not properly restrict the register bounds for 32-bit operations, leading to out-of-bounds reads and writes in kernel memory. The vulnerability also affects the Linux 5.4 stable series, starting with v5.4.7, as the introducing commit was backported to that branch. This vulnerability was fixed in 5.6.1, 5.5.14, and 5.4.29. (issue is aka ZDI-CAN-10780)

comedi: pcl726: Prevent invalid irq number

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: comedi: pcl726: Prevent invalid irq number The reproducer passed in an irq number(0x80008000) that was too large, which triggered the oob. Added an interrupt number check to prevent users from passing in an irq number that was too large. If `it->options[1]` is 31, then `1 << it->options[1]` is still invalid because it shifts a 1-bit into the sign bit (which is UB in C). Possible solutions include reducing the upper bound on the `it->options[1]` value to 30 or lower, or using `1U << it->options[1]`. The old code would just not attempt to request the IRQ if the `options[1]` value were invalid. And it would still configure the device without interrupts even if the call to `request_irq` returned an error. So it would be better to combine this test with the test below.

tls: handle data disappearing from under the TLS ULP

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tls: handle data disappearing from under the TLS ULP TLS expects that it owns the receive queue of the TCP socket. This cannot be guaranteed in case the reader of the TCP socket entered before the TLS ULP was installed, or uses some non-standard read API (eg. zerocopy ones). Replace the WARN_ON() and a buggy early exit (which leaves anchor pointing to a freed skb) with real error handling. Wipe the parsing state and tell the reader to retry. We already reload the anchor every time we (re)acquire the socket lock, so the only condition we need to avoid is an out of bounds read (not having enough bytes in the socket for previously parsed record len). If some data was read from under TLS but there's enough in the queue we'll reload and decrypt what is most likely not a valid TLS record. Leading to some undefined behavior from TLS perspective (corrupting a stream? missing an alert? missing an attack?) but no kernel crash should take place.

wifi: ath12k: Decrement TID on RX peer frag setup error handling

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: Decrement TID on RX peer frag setup error handling Currently, TID is not decremented before peer cleanup, during error handling path of ath12k_dp_rx_peer_frag_setup(). This could lead to out-of-bounds access in peer->rx_tid[]. Hence, add a decrement operation for TID, before peer cleanup to ensures proper cleanup and prevents out-of-bounds access issues when the RX peer frag setup fails. Found during code review. jfs: fix slab-out-of-bounds read in ea_get()

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: jfs: fix slab-out-of-bounds read in ea_get() During the "size_check" label in ea_get(), the code checks if the extended attribute list (xattr) size matches ea_size. If not, it logs "ea_get: invalid extended attribute" and calls print_hex_dump(). Here, EALIST_SIZE(ea_buf->xattr) returns 4110417968, which exceeds INT_MAX (2,147,483,647). Then ea_size is clamped: int size = clamp_t(int, ea_size, 0, EALIST_SIZE(ea_buf->xattr)); Although clamp_t aims to bound ea_size between 0 and 4110417968, the upper limit is treated as an int, causing an overflow above 2^31 - 1. This leads "size" to wrap around and become negative (-184549328). The "size" is then passed to print_hex_dump() (called "len" in print_hex_dump()), it is passed as type size_t (an unsigned type), this is then stored inside a variable called "int remaining", which is then assigned to "int linelen" which is then passed to hex_dump_to_buffer(). In print_hex_dump() the for loop, iterates through 0 to len-1, where len is 18446744073525002176, calling hex_dump_to_buffer() on each iteration: for (i = 0; i < len; i += rowsize) { linelen = min(remaining, rowsize); remaining -= rowsize; hex_dump_to_buffer(ptr + i, linelen, rowsize, groupsize, linebuf, sizeof(linebuf), ascii); ... } The expected stopping condition (i < len) is effectively broken since len is corrupted and very large. This eventually leads to the "ptr+i" being passed to hex_dump_to_buffer() to get closer to the end of the actual bounds of "ptr", eventually an out of bounds access is done in hex_dump_to_buffer() in the following for loop: for (j = 0; j < len; j++) { if (linebuflen < lx + 2) goto overflow2; ch = ptr[j]; ... } To fix this we should validate "EALIST_SIZE(ea_buf->xattr)" before it is utilised.

bpf: Fix oob access in cgroup local storage

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bpf: Fix oob access in cgroup local storage Lonial reported that an out-of-bounds access in cgroup local storage can be crafted via tail calls. Given two programs each utilizing a cgroup local storage with a different value size, and one program doing a tail call into the other. The verifier will validate each of the indivial programs just fine. However, in the runtime context the bpf_cg_run_ctx holds an bpf_prog_array_item which contains the BPF program as well as any cgroup local storage flavor the program uses. Helpers such as bpf_get_local_storage() pick this up from the runtime context: ctx = container_of(current->bpf_ctx, struct bpf_cg_run_ctx, run_ctx); storage = ctx->prog_item->cgroup_storage[stype]; if (stype == BPF_CGROUP_STORAGE_SHARED) ptr = &READ_ONCE(storage->buf)->data[0]; else ptr = this_cpu_ptr(storage->percpu_buf); For the second program which was called from the originally attached one, this means bpf_get_local_storage() will pick up the former program's map, not its own. With mismatching sizes, this can result in an unintended out-of-bounds access. To fix this issue, we need to extend bpf_map_owner with an array of storage_cookie[] to match on i) the exact maps from the original program if the second program was using bpf_get_local_storage(), or ii) allow the tail call combination if the second program was not using any of the cgroup local storage maps.

An out-of-bounds (OOB) memory access flaw was found in x25_bind in net/x25/af_x25.c in the Linux kernel version v5.12-rc5. A bounds check failure allows a local attacker with a user account on the system to gain access to out-of-bounds memory, leading to a system crash or a leak of internal kernel information. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to confidentiality, integrity, as well as system availability.

wifi: ath12k: fix invalid access to memory

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath12k: fix invalid access to memory In ath12k_dp_rx_msdu_coalesce(), rxcb is fetched from skb and boolean is_continuation is part of rxcb. Currently, after freeing the skb, the rxcb->is_continuation accessed again which is wrong since the memory is already freed. This might lead use-after-free error. Hence, fix by locally defining bool is_continuation from rxcb, so that after freeing skb, is_continuation can be used. Compile tested only.

9p/net: fix improper handling of bogus negative read/write replies

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: 9p/net: fix improper handling of bogus negative read/write replies In p9_client_write() and p9_client_read_once(), if the server incorrectly replies with success but a negative write/read count then we would consider written (negative) <= rsize (positive) because both variables were signed. Make variables unsigned to avoid this problem. The reproducer linked below now fails with the following error instead of a null pointer deref: 9pnet: bogus RWRITE count (4294967295 > 3)

usb: isp1760: Fix out-of-bounds array access

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: isp1760: Fix out-of-bounds array access Running the driver through kasan gives an interesting splat: BUG: KASAN: global-out-of-bounds in isp1760_register+0x180/0x70c Read of size 20 at addr f1db2e64 by task swapper/0/1 (...) isp1760_register from isp1760_plat_probe+0x1d8/0x220 (...) This happens because the loop reading the regmap fields for the different ISP1760 variants look like this: for (i = 0; i < HC_FIELD_MAX; i++) { ... } Meaning it expects the arrays to be at least HC_FIELD_MAX - 1 long. However the arrays isp1760_hc_reg_fields[], isp1763_hc_reg_fields[], isp1763_hc_volatile_ranges[] and isp1763_dc_volatile_ranges[] are dynamically sized during compilation. Fix this by putting an empty assignment to the [HC_FIELD_MAX] and [DC_FIELD_MAX] array member at the end of each array. This will make the array one member longer than it needs to be, but avoids the risk of overwriting whatever is inside [HC_FIELD_MAX - 1] and is simple and intuitive to read. Also add comments explaining what is going on.

The _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() is used to compare the first n bytes of the two strings from tail to head, which causes the problem. In the _rtl8812ae_phy_set_txpower_limit(), it was originally intended to meet this requirement by carefully designing the comparison order. For example, "pregulation" and "pbandwidth" are compared in order of length from small to large, first is 3 and last is 4. However, the comparison order of "prate_section" dose not obey such order requirement, therefore when "prate_section" is "HT", when comparing from tail to head, it will lead to access out of bounds in _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte(). As mentioned above, the _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() has the same function as strcmp(), so just strcmp() is enough. Fix it by removing _rtl8812ae_eq_n_byte() and use strcmp() barely. Although it can be fixed by adjusting the comparison order of "prate_section", this may cause the value of "rate_section" to not be from 0 to 5. In addition, commit "21e4b0726dc6" not only moved driver from staging to regular tree, but also added setting txpower limit function during the driver config phase, so the problem was introduced by this commit.

In the Linux kernel through 5.16.10, certain binary files may have the exec-all attribute if they were built in approximately 2003 (e.g., with GCC 3.2.2 and Linux kernel 2.4.20). This can cause execution of bytes located in supposedly non-executable regions of a file.

net: skbuff: preserve shared-frag marker during coalescing

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: skbuff: preserve shared-frag marker during coalescing skb_try_coalesce() can attach paged frags from @from to @to. If @from has SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG set, the resulting @to skb can contain the same externally-owned or page-cache-backed frags, but the shared-frag marker is currently lost. That breaks the invariant relied on by later in-place writers. In particular, ESP input checks skb_has_shared_frag() before deciding whether an uncloned nonlinear skb can skip skb_cow_data(). If TCP receive coalescing has moved shared frags into an unmarked skb, ESP can see skb_has_shared_frag() as false and decrypt in place over page-cache backed frags. Propagate SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG when skb_try_coalesce() transfers paged frags. The tailroom copy path does not need the marker because it copies bytes into @to's linear data rather than transferring frag descriptors.

RDMA/irdma: Fix double free related to rereg_user_mr

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/irdma: Fix double free related to rereg_user_mr If IB_MR_REREG_TRANS is set during rereg_user_mr, the umem will be released and a new one will be allocated in irdma_rereg_mr_trans. If any step of irdma_rereg_mr_trans fails after the new umem is allocated, it releases the umem, but does not set iwmr->region to NULL. The problem is that this failure is propagated to the user, who will then call ibv_dereg_mr (as they should). Then, the dereg_mr path will see a non-NULL umem and attempt to call ib_umem_release again. Fix this by setting iwmr->region to NULL after ib_umem_release. Fixed: 5ac388db27c4 ("RDMA/irdma: Add support to re-register a memory region")

netfilter: nfnetlink_queue: make hash table per queue

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nfnetlink_queue: make hash table per queue Sharing a global hash table among all queues is tempting, but it can cause crash: BUG: KASAN: slab-use-after-free in nfqnl_recv_verdict+0x11ac/0x15e0 [nfnetlink_queue] [..] nfqnl_recv_verdict+0x11ac/0x15e0 [nfnetlink_queue] nfnetlink_rcv_msg+0x46a/0x930 kmem_cache_alloc_node_noprof+0x11e/0x450 struct nf_queue_entry is freed via kfree, but parallel cpu can still encounter such an nf_queue_entry when walking the list. net: usb: kaweth: remove TX queue manipulation in kaweth_set_rx_mode

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: usb: kaweth: remove TX queue manipulation in kaweth_set_rx_mode kaweth_set_rx_mode(), the ndo_set_rx_mode callback, calls netif_stop_queue() and netif_wake_queue(). These are TX queue flow control functions unrelated to RX multicast configuration. The premature netif_wake_queue() can re-enable TX while tx_urb is still in-flight, leading to a double usb_submit_urb() on the same URB: kaweth_start_xmit() { netif_stop_queue(); usb_submit_urb(kaweth->tx_urb); } kaweth_set_rx_mode() { netif_stop_queue(); netif_wake_queue(); // wakes TX queue before URB is done } kaweth_start_xmit() { netif_stop_queue(); usb_submit_urb(kaweth->tx_urb); // URB submitted while active } This triggers the WARN in usb_submit_urb(): "URB submitted while active" This is a similar class of bug fixed in rtl8150 by - commit 958baf5eaee3 ("net: usb: Remove disruptive netif_wake_queue in rtl8150_set_multicast"). Also kaweth_set_rx_mode() is already functionally broken, the real set_rx_mode action is performed by kaweth_async_set_rx_mode(), which in turn is not a no-op only at ndo_open() time.

xfs: remove xfs_attr_leaf_hasname

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: xfs: remove xfs_attr_leaf_hasname The calling convention of xfs_attr_leaf_hasname() is problematic, because it returns a NULL buffer when xfs_attr3_leaf_read fails, a valid buffer when xfs_attr3_leaf_lookup_int returns -ENOATTR or -EEXIST, and a non-NULL buffer pointer for an already released buffer when xfs_attr3_leaf_lookup_int fails with other error values. Fix this by simply open coding xfs_attr_leaf_hasname in the callers, so that the buffer release code is done by each caller of xfs_attr3_leaf_read.

Bluetooth: MGMT: validate LTK enc_size on load

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Bluetooth: MGMT: validate LTK enc_size on load Load Long Term Keys stores the user-provided enc_size and later uses it to size fixed-size stack operations when replying to LE LTK requests. An enc_size larger than the 16-byte key buffer can therefore overflow the reply stack buffer. net/sched: act_mpls: Fix warning during failed attribute validation

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: act_mpls: Fix warning during failed attribute validation The 'TCA_MPLS_LABEL' attribute is of 'NLA_U32' type, but has a validation type of 'NLA_VALIDATE_FUNCTION'. This is an invalid combination according to the comment above 'struct nla_policy': " Meaning of `validate' field, use via NLA_POLICY_VALIDATE_FN: NLA_BINARY Validation function called for the attribute. All other Unused - but note that it's a union " This can trigger the warning [1] in nla_get_range_unsigned() when validation of the attribute fails. Despite being of 'NLA_U32' type, the associated 'min'/'max' fields in the policy are negative as they are aliased by the 'validate' field. Fix by changing the attribute type to 'NLA_BINARY' which is consistent with the above comment and all other users of NLA_POLICY_VALIDATE_FN(). As a result, move the length validation to the validation function.
