The Import and export users and customers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to and including 2.0.8 via the `save_extra_user_profile_fields()` function. This is due to an incomplete blocklist that correctly restricts capability meta keys for the primary site (e.g., `wp_capabilities`, `wp_user_level`) but fails to block the equivalent meta keys for any other subsite in a WordPress Multisite network (e.g., `wp_2_capabilities`, `wp_2_user_level`), allowing these keys to pass the `in_array()` check and be written directly to user meta via `update_user_meta()`. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to escalate their privileges to Administrator on any subsite within the Multisite network by submitting a crafted profile update to `/wp-admin/profile.php`. Exploitation requires that an administrator has previously imported a CSV file containing multisite-prefixed capability column headers and has enabled the 'Show fields in profile?' option, which causes those keys to be stored in the `acui_columns` option and exposed as editable fields on the user profile page.
ONTAP Select Deploy administration utility versions 9.12.1.x, 9.13.1.x and 9.14.1.x are susceptible to a vulnerability which when successfully exploited could allow a read-only user to escalate their privileges.
MinIO is a High Performance Object Storage released under GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. A security issue was found where an non-admin user is able to create service accounts for root or other admin users and then is able to assume their access policies via the generated credentials. This in turn allows the user to escalate privilege to that of the root user. This vulnerability has been resolved in pull request #14729 and is included in `RELEASE.2022-04-12T06-55-35Z`. Users unable to upgrade may workaround this issue by explicitly adding a `admin:CreateServiceAccount` deny policy, however, this, in turn, denies the user the ability to create their own service accounts as well.
There is a permission and access control vulnerability of ZTE's ZXV10 XT802/ET301 product.Attackers with common permissions can log in the terminal web and change the password of the administrator illegally by intercepting requests to change the passwords.
A privilege escalation vulnerability in web component of Ivanti Connect Secure (9.x, 22.x) and Ivanti Policy Secure (9.x, 22.x) allows a user to elevate privileges to that of an administrator.
Grafana is an open-source platform for monitoring and observability. When fine-grained access control is enabled and a client uses Grafana API Key to make requests, the permissions for that API Key are cached for 30 seconds for the given organization. Because of the way the cache ID is constructed, the consequent requests with any API Key evaluate to the same permissions as the previous requests. This can lead to an escalation of privileges, when for example a first request is made with Admin permissions, and the second request with different API Key is made with Viewer permissions, the second request will get the cached permissions from the previous Admin, essentially accessing higher privilege than it should. The vulnerability is only impacting Grafana Enterprise when the fine-grained access control beta feature is enabled and there are more than one API Keys in one organization with different roles assigned. All installations after Grafana Enterprise v8.1.0-beta1 should be upgraded as soon as possible. As an alternative, disable fine-grained access control will mitigate the vulnerability.
Chamilo LMS is an open-source learning management system. In versions prior to 2.0.0-RC.3, an insecure direct object modification vulnerability in the PUT /api/users/{id} endpoint allows any authenticated user with ROLE_STUDENT to escalate their privileges to ROLE_ADMIN by modifying the roles field on their own user record. The API Platform security expression is_granted('EDIT', object) only verifies record ownership, and the roles field is included in the writable serialization group, enabling any user to set arbitrary roles such as ROLE_ADMIN. Successful exploitation grants full administrative control of the platform, including access to all courses, user data, grades, and administrative settings. This issue has been fixed in version 2.0.0-RC.3.
The Wishlist Member plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data due to a missing capability check on the 'WishListMember\Features\Team_Accounts::save_settings' function in all versions up to, and including, 3.30.1. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to update arbitrary plugin options, includes the REST API Secret Key, which can be used to create a new membership level assigned the administrator WordPress role, and register an arbitrary administrator-level user account, resulting in complete site takeover.
An issue was discovered in the Ultimate Member plugin before 2.1.12 for WordPress, aka Authenticated Privilege Escalation via Profile Update. Any user with wp-admin access to the profile.php page could supply the parameter um-role with a value set to any role (e.g., Administrator) during a profile update, and effectively escalate their privileges.
Improper neutralization of special elements used in an sql command ('sql injection') in SQL Server allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges over a network.
In ConsoleKit before 0.4.2, an intended security policy restriction bypass was found. This flaw allows an authenticated system user to escalate their privileges by initiating a remote VNC session.
The directory-pro WordPress plugin before 1.9.5, final-user-wp-frontend-user-profiles WordPress plugin before 1.2.2, producer-retailer WordPress plugin through TODO, photographer-directory WordPress plugin before 1.0.9, real-estate-pro WordPress plugin before 1.7.1, institutions-directory WordPress plugin before 1.3.1, lawyer-directory WordPress plugin before 1.2.9, doctor-listing WordPress plugin before 1.3.6, Hotel Listing WordPress plugin before 1.3.7, fitness-trainer WordPress plugin before 1.4.1, wp-membership WordPress plugin before 1.5.7, sold by the same developer (e-plugins), do not implementing any security measures in some AJAX calls. For example in the file plugin.php, the function iv_directories_update_profile_setting() uses update_user_meta with any data provided by the ajax call, which can be used to give the logged in user admin capabilities. Since the plugins allow user registration via a custom form (even if the blog does not allow users to register) it makes any site using it vulnerable.
Neko is a a self-hosted virtual browser that runs in Docker and uses WebRTC In versions 3.0.0 through 3.0.10 and 3.1.0 through 3.1.1, any authenticated user can immediately obtain full administrative control of the entire Neko instance (member management, room settings, broadcast control, session termination, etc.). This results in a complete compromise of the instance. The vulnerability has been patched in v3.0.11 and v3.1.2. If upgrading is not immediately possible, the following mitigations can reduce risk: Restrict access to trusted users only (avoid granting accounts to untrusted parties); ensure all user passwords are strong and only shared with trusted individuals; run the instance only when needed; avoid leaving it continuously exposed; place the instance behind authentication layers such as a reverse proxy with additional access controls; disable or restrict access to the /api/profile endpoint if feasible; and/or monitor for suspicious privilege changes or unexpected administrative actions. Note that these are temporary mitigations and do not fully eliminate the vulnerability. Upgrading is strongly recommended.
The Frontend Admin by DynamiApps plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthenticated privilege escalation in versions up to and including 3.29.2. This is due to insecure form submission handling that accepts arbitrary form definitions from user input instead of securely loading them from the backend. When $_POST['_acf_form'] is an array (rather than a form ID), the validate_form() function bypasses database lookup and directly processes the attacker-controlled structure. The create_record() function preserves attacker-supplied record data if present, and the user action's run() function falls back to attacker-controlled field definitions from $form['fields'] when legitimate fields cannot be found. The role field's pre_update_value() validation reads $field['role_options'] from this attacker-controlled definition, allowing an attacker to specify ['administrator'] as an allowed role and bypass the security check. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to create administrator accounts by injecting a custom form configuration with a spoofed role field.
The user access rights validation in the web server of the Bosch Ethernet switch PRA-ES8P2S with software version 1.01.05 was insufficient. This would allow a non-administrator user to obtain administrator user access rights.
x26-Cogs is a repository of cogs made by Twentysix for the Red Discord bot. Among these cogs is the Defender cog, a tool for Discord server moderation. A vulnerability in the Defender cog prior to version 1.10.0 allows users with admin privileges to issue commands as other users who share the same server. If a bot owner shares the same server as the attacker, it is possible for the attacker to issue bot-owner restricted commands. The issue has been patched in version 1.10.0. One may unload the Defender cog as a workaround.
A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in Apache CloudStack versions 4.10.0.0 through 4.20.0.0 where a malicious Domain Admin user in the ROOT domain can reset the password of user-accounts of Admin role type. This operation is not appropriately restricted and allows the attacker to assume control over higher-privileged user-accounts. A malicious Domain Admin attacker can impersonate an Admin user-account and gain access to sensitive APIs and resources that could result in the compromise of resource integrity and confidentiality, data loss, denial of service, and availability of infrastructure managed by CloudStack. Users are recommended to upgrade to Apache CloudStack 4.19.3.0 or 4.20.1.0, which fixes the issue with the following: * Strict validation on Role Type hierarchy: the caller's user-account role must be equal to or higher than the target user-account's role. * API privilege comparison: the caller must possess all privileges of the user they are operating on. * Two new domain-level settings (restricted to the default Admin): - role.types.allowed.for.operations.on.accounts.of.same.role.type: Defines which role types are allowed to act on users of the same role type. Default: "Admin, DomainAdmin, ResourceAdmin". - allow.operations.on.users.in.same.account: Allows/disallows user operations within the same account. Default: true.
A privilege escalation vulnerability exists in Apache CloudStack versions 4.10.0.0 through 4.20.0.0 where a malicious Domain Admin user in the ROOT domain can get the API key and secret key of user-accounts of Admin role type in the same domain. A vulnerability in the REST API endpoint of Cisco Data Center Network Manager (DCNM) could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to elevate privileges on the application. The vulnerability is due to insufficient access control validation. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by authenticating with a low-privilege account and sending a crafted request to the API. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to interact with the API with administrative privileges.
An issue was discovered in EnterpriseDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) before 11.21.32, 12.x before 12.16.20, 13.x before 13.12.16, 14.x before 14.9.0, and 15.x before 15.4.0. It contains the function _dbms_aq_move_to_exception_queue that may be used to elevate a user's privileges to superuser. This function accepts the OID of a table, and then accesses that table as the superuser by using SELECT and DML commands.
File Browser is a file managing interface for uploading, deleting, previewing, renaming, and editing files within a specified directory. Prior to 2.63.1, the fix in commit b6a4fb1 ("self-registered users don't get execute perms") stripped Execute permission and Commands from users created via the signup handler. The same fix was not applied to the proxy auth handler. Users auto-created on first successful proxy-auth login are granted execution capabilities from global defaults, even though the signup path was explicitly changed to prevent execution rights from being inherited by automatically provisioned accounts. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.63.1.
The Industrial theme for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data that can lead to privilege escalation due to a missing capability check on the _ajax_get_total_content_import_items() function in all versions up to, and including, 1.7.8. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to update arbitrary options on the WordPress site. This can be leveraged to update the default role for registration to administrator and enable user registration for attackers to gain administrative user access to a vulnerable site.
A vulnerability has been identified in RAPIDLab 1200 systems / RAPIDPoint 400 systems / RAPIDPoint 500 systems (All versions_without_ use of Siemens Healthineers Informatics products), RAPIDLab 1200 Series (All versions < V3.3 _with_ Siemens Healthineers Informatics products), RAPIDPoint 500 systems (All versions >= V3.0 _with_ Siemens Healthineers Informatics products), RAPIDPoint 500 systems (V2.4.X_with_ Siemens Healthineers Informatics products), RAPIDPoint 500 systems (All versions =< V2.3 _with_ Siemens Healthineers Informatics products), RAPIDPoint 400 systems (All versions _with_ Siemens Healthineers Informatics products). Remote attackers with either local or remote credentialed access to the "Remote View" feature might be able to elevate their privileges, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. No special skills or user interaction are required to perform this attack. At the time of advisory publication, no public exploitation of this security vulnerability is known. Siemens Healthineers confirms the security vulnerability and provides mitigations to resolve the security issue.
A user with the permissions to create a data source can use Grafana API to create a data source with UID set to *. Doing this will grant the user access to read, query, edit and delete all data sources within the organization.
Nagios XI versions prior to 2024R1.2 contain a privilege escalation vulnerability related to NagVis configuration handling (nagvis.conf). An authenticated user could manipulate NagVis configuration data or leverage insufficiently validated configuration settings to obtain elevated privileges on the Nagios XI system.
The Simple Membership WordPress plugin before 4.1.3 does not properly validate the membership_level parameter when editing a profile, allowing members to escalate to a higher membership level by using a crafted POST request.
An improper privilege management vulnerability in the web management interface of the Zyxel WBE530 firmware versions through 7.00(ACLE.3) and WBE660S firmware versions through 6.70(ACGG.2) could allow an authenticated user with limited privileges to escalate their privileges to that of an administrator, enabling them to upload configuration files to a vulnerable device.
In Phoenix Contact FL SWITCH Series 2xxx in version 3.00 an incorrect privilege assignment allows an low privileged user to enable full access to the device configuration.
Wiki.js is an open source wiki app built on Node.js. Prior to 2.5.313, the users.update GraphQL mutation accepts an arbitrary groups array and applies it directly to the database with no validation of the group IDs supplied. The resolver passes the caller's arguments straight to the model without any ownership check or restriction on which groups can be assigned. A user with manage:users — a permission typically delegated to wiki moderators for account management — can set groups:[1] on their own account to self-assign to the Administrators group. After re-authentication, the fresh JWT carries manage:system, granting full site administrator access in a single mutation call. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.5.313.
A Broken Object-Level Authorization (BOLA) in the /Settings/UserController.php endpoint of Webkul Krayin CRM v2.2.x allows authenticated attackers to arbitrarily reset user passwords and perform a full account takeover via supplying a crafted HTTP request.
The FTL Server component of TIBCO Software Inc.'s TIBCO FTL - Enterprise Edition contains a vulnerability that allows a low privileged attacker with network access to execute a privilege escalation on the affected ftlserver. Affected releases are TIBCO Software Inc.'s TIBCO FTL - Enterprise Edition: versions 6.10.1 and below.
Weblate is a web based localization tool. In versions prior to 5.17, the user patching API endpoint didn't properly limit the scope of edits. This issue has been fixed in version 5.17.
The "RH - Real Estate WordPress Theme" theme for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 4.4.0. This is due to the theme not properly restricting user roles that can be updated as part of the inspiry_update_profile() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to set their role to that of an administrator. The vulnerability was partially patched in version 4.4.0, and fully patched in version 4.4.1.
An issue was discovered in CommScope Ruckus Unleashed prior to 200.15.6.212.14 and 200.17.7.0.139, and in Ruckus ZoneDirector prior to 10.5.1.0.279, where an authenticated attacker can disable the passphrase requirement for a hidden CLI command `!v54!` via a management API call and then invoke it to escape the restricted shell and obtain a root shell on the controller.
The CubeWP – All-in-One Dynamic Content Framework plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.23. This is due to the plugin allowing a user to update arbitrary user meta through the update_user_meta() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to elevate their privileges to that of an administrator.
Vulnerability in the Oracle Payroll product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Self Service Manager). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.3-12.2.15. CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).
The Woocommerce Multiple Addresses plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.7.1. This is due to insufficient restrictions on user meta that can be updated through the save_multiple_shipping_addresses() function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access and above, to elevate their privileges to that of an administrator.
A vulnerability in the web services interface for remote access VPN features of Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) Software and Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software could allow an authenticated, but unprivileged, remote attacker to elevate privileges to level 15. This vulnerability is due to improper separation of authentication and authorization scopes. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTPS messages to the web services interface of an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain privilege level 15 access to the web management interface of the device. This includes privilege level 15 access to the device using management tools like the Cisco Adaptive Security Device Manager (ASDM) or the Cisco Security Manager (CSM). Note: With Cisco FTD Software, the impact is lower than the CVSS score suggests because the affected web management interface allows for read access only.
A flaw was found in sudo in the handling of ipa_hostname, where ipa_hostname from /etc/sssd/sssd.conf was not propagated in sudo. Therefore, it leads to privilege mismanagement vulnerability in applications, where client hosts retain privileges even after retracting them.
HiSecOS web server versions 03.4.00 prior to 04.1.00 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows authenticated users with operator or auditor roles to escalate privileges to the administrator role by sending specially crafted packets to the web server. Attackers can exploit this flaw to gain full administrative access to the affected device.
Under certain conditions, Nessus Network Monitor could allow a low privileged user to escalate privileges to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on Windows hosts by replacing a specially crafted file.
Improper Privilege Management in GitHub repository polonel/trudesk prior to 1.2.2.
Jupiter Theme <= 6.10.1 and JupiterX Core Plugin <= 2.0.7 allow any authenticated attacker, including a subscriber or customer-level attacker, to gain administrative privileges via the "abb_uninstall_template" (both) and "jupiterx_core_cp_uninstall_template" (JupiterX Core Only) AJAX actions
API Privilege Escalation in GitHub repository alextselegidis/easyappointments prior to 1.5.0. Full system takeover.
HiSecOS 04.0.01 contains a privilege escalation vulnerability that allows authenticated users to modify their access role through XML-based NETCONF configuration. Attackers can send crafted XML payloads to the /mops_data endpoint with a specific role value to elevate their user privileges to administrative level.
The Ovic Responsive WPBakery WordPress plugin before 1.2.9 does not limit which options can be updated via some of its AJAX actions, which may allow attackers with a subscriber+ account to update blog options, such as 'users_can_register' and 'default_role'. It also unserializes user input in the process, which may lead to Object Injection attacks.
An issue was discovered in the Tightrope Media Carousel digital signage product 7.0.4.104. Due to insecure default permissions on the C:\TRMS\Services directory, an attacker who has gained access to the system can elevate their privileges from a restricted account to full SYSTEM by replacing the Carousel.Service.exe file with a custom malicious executable. This service is independent of the associated IIS web site, which means that this service can be manipulated by an attacker without losing access to vulnerabilities in the web interface (which would potentially be used in conjunction with this attack, to control the service). Once the attacker has replaced Carousel.Service.exe, the server can be restarted using the command "shutdown -r -t 0" from a web shell, causing the system to reboot and launching the malicious Carousel.Service.exe as SYSTEM on startup. If this malicious Carousel.Service.exe is configured to launch a reverse shell back to the attacker, then upon reboot the attacker will have a fully privileged remote command-line environment to manipulate the system further.
In OpenXiangShan NEMU, when Smstateen is enabled, clearing mstateen0.ENVCFG does not correctly restrict access to henvcfg and senvcfg. As a result, less-privileged code may read or write these CSRs without the required exception, potentially bypassing intended state-enable based isolation controls in virtualized or multi-privilege environments.
The Amelia Booking plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object References in versions up to, and including, 9.1.2. This is due to the plugin providing user-controlled access to objects, letting a user bypass authorization and access system resources. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with customer-level permissions or above to change user passwords and potentially take over administrator accounts. The vulnerability is in the pro plugin, which has the same slug.
